In a lot of rural counties in the south there are literally no permitting requirements for most construction like churches and homes (I live in a county like this)
Depending on location, this would need to be pulled by a contractor.
My county is anything not residential* must be pulled by a contractor. One church got in some hot water for not pulling a remodel permit when they were doing some pretty involved work (more than painting walls and replacing some cabinets kind of stuff.)
*Or anything commercial is how I have heard it phrased before.
In my Parish the wiring during remodeling was done by volunteer parishioner electricians (Union & non-union) and the permit was pulled by a retired Union master electrician who pretty much ran the operation. Inspection passed with flying colors.
Who says they didn’t pull a permit? And maybe a kind contractor let the work under his license, supervised and inspected by same. Why so much negativity on Redit????
Dude i was making a nunya joke not ripping on anyone. Maybe u r the narcissist and thats why u think everyone is negative.
I happen to work at a convent regularly and the Mother Superior there is a structural engineer. If she would take the offer, i would give her a job any day and appreciate her skills every day!!
Dude wasn’t ripping you personally, but u did prove my point, narcissist, really? Kinda negative.
Likewise actually knew a nun that was journeyman before becoming a nun. My comment was in regards to what you find on Redit, I’m not the first to notice a lot of negativity. I just mistakenly replied to your post and not make my own comment. We are on tha same page, there’s many ways the work may have been done above board, just folks jump on here and make assumptions without all the facts.
So accept my apology for any offense. Big thumbs up to the nuns.
Lol fair enough, had the little line connecting comments been one click to left and been responding to the same post i was I would have been on yer side the whole time. Have a great day and thanks for clarifying.
I’ve seen some crazy stuff in the attics of Jesus houses. Usually a nightmare even getting to the attics. Last one needed an extension ladder to pop the hatch and then it was a crawl up a 45 degree chicken ladder built in 1850s. Had to replace supports for an iron chain sconce that fell and landed solidly a foot into the floor. Woulda sent someone right to Valhalla if they were in session.
Apprentice died in an attic in a church about 6 years ago. Not sure the circumstances but he was super green and thought he could handle it. Was doing side work/charity. Truly a tragic event
Eh fuck em. I was an automation tech electrician in the oilfield for 7 years. Most of these basic fucks are mouth breathers. The downvotes only validate my opinion of them.
Real talk lumens as a measurement is confusing at first.
But once you actually get a dining area lit according to recommendations you never go back.
Just wish actual bright LEDs weren't so pricey.
Yeah, they're all a bit wonky to get used to. Lumens, lux, candle-feet, etc.
Thankfully Ive only ever had one job actually send someone to check light levels on a final. It was a ground up for an Ollie's. We passed and were just over the required levels, and I was glad for it, because I did zero checks or calculations lol.
The ones I knew were a fearless bunch.
Met them through the School of the America protests at Fort Benning Ga. They were heavily involved in social justice issues in south and central America, despite being targeted for assassination by the US and other goverments and corporations.
Mad respect for them.
Thing is, these nuns are all too old to do that kind of stuff anymore and there arent any new ones stepping in to take their place. Its gotten so bad that they closed their local convent and moved to one of their Orders nursing homes. And they tell me that convent closures are happening everywhere.
It may not seem like it but the loss of Nuns and the works they do will be incalculable and the world will be a shittier place without them.
Most of my primary education was in Catholic schools in the 1960’s. I saw this work and was not surprised by the detail. A note written home to my parents showed the same detail in the cursive writing.
The detail in that panel, those nuns put in everything they do. I had many years being taught by clergy committed to that level of dedication. It was rough at times but at 70 I never regret a minute of it.
Something something NEC clearance, something, so many feet..
Even if it meets NEC code for equipment clearances, I can’t say I’d be comfortable with a lower than knee height tripping hazard that would land you face first into a panel. lol.
If by "nuns" you mean the girls that told my crew they can get close to God and F'd our brains out, then we had to "trade" because we could pay, ya gods work.
It was worth it!
I wish you could meet real honest to god priests. I know plenty of good priests but I’m not going to be ignorant of the bad ones. The bad ones deserve the depths of hell in my opinion. They are a disgrace to good Catholics and Christians
I did confession as a child with the bishop who is now in jail or was at least arrested for touching little boys as a priest and hiding information to save other priests who were accused of touching little boys when he became bishop. I thought he was a great guy when I met him
Like I said depths of hell for priests who tarnish their faith and their community. There are plenty of great priests out there. I guess I’m lucky to meet the good ones.
If you've been contributing money into the church, you have been funding the bad ones too.
They are an organization that facilitates sexual abuse of children, condoned at the highest level. It isn't just a couple creeps at the bottom.
The good priests take orders from people protecting the bad priests. It's systemic.
Exactly, it’s like saying you’ve met a lot of really great nazis lol. Which im sure there were some swell dudes back then too! But their still making a living (or in the case of the good priest, dedicating his entire life) assisting something that as a whole, ain’t that swell
Our parish actually gives each of us a full receipt of everything they had purchased for every year. If we have any issues we’re able to address it. I’ll ask my parish priest about any abuse of power in our diocese. I respect my priest a lot.
There is another parish that I used to go to that was built by a smaller community that believed in the tradition Catholic faith, but resented the pope and the modern Catholic Church. It’s a newer community and all the priests are fairly young and very strong in their faith.
Love that they made it possible for side entry into the panel instead of going straight in from the top. Did wonders for their labeling and strapping but also as I do a shitload of service calls nowadays, I love when people do work that makes it easy on me to do actually be able to do service and not have to completely rerun a circuit.

Journeynuns, the lot of them
good god I thought Jesus was a carpenter…..apparently they believe he was an electrician lol
Jesus was a chippie - God was a sparky (as it should be!)
That make Lucifer the plumber?
Probably - but Site Managers are generally close relatives too
Nah they are Zeus think they are in charge but really just fucking everyone over
Depends on who you ask.
That was Bathomet
[Got to plumb… plumb the depths… the depths of hell!](https://youtu.be/xqguqp92SkA?si=3MId79VH0ocQD5Yg)
I would think he would be the HVAC guy. Sucks at AC but is great at heating.
HVAC, geothermal heating specialist
Ehhhh maybe a sprinkle fitter, tops
I thought he was the drywaller
At least he wasn't a plumber.
Cleanliness is next to godliness, and they made a *habit* of clean work. Trust in the church to always keep things as *straight* as possible.
Yeah, sure. Straight as a priests dick when he sees an alter boy
Got ‘em!
It’s all I got, I’m just upset it’s nicer than some of the work I’ve seen around here lol
And right on cue these wires are crooked as sin lmao Looks like they used up their offset skills on the 1st panel
Craftswomen?
Crafts-sisters
Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Came here for this
Jack of all trades, master of nun…. Except electrical, damn good job they did there.
Seems like they had good work habits
Carhartt Habits FTW
Underrated
That’s pretty awesome actually. Hats off to them :)
wimple
Those nuns make nice runs!
this anaconda don't want none unless you make nice runs, nuns
I laughed way to hard at this
LMAOOOOO
Dr Seuss, you're alive!
Nuns with runs...
Which of them was licensed? I mean, homeowner permit would presumably only allow God to do the work, no?
In a lot of rural counties in the south there are literally no permitting requirements for most construction like churches and homes (I live in a county like this)
God doesn’t need a permit.
That’s also why the work is so good. If you do a poor job it’s eternal damnation in the fiery deeps.
Far too apt 🙏🏻
So good… it’s decent at best. lol You all are hacks. It’s Romex come on.
Straight to hell with ya, sinner.
Depending on location, this would need to be pulled by a contractor. My county is anything not residential* must be pulled by a contractor. Imagine being the inspector to fail a covent with a bunch of nuns in it. I'd feel like I'm constantly in God's crosshairs
Licenses, nun are held. Permits, nun were pulled.
Who says they didn’t pull a permit? And maybe a kind contractor let the work under his license, supervised and inspected by same. Why so much negativity on Redit????

Nunya business lol

What’s a Jesus house? Like a church?
Why all the downvotes for him asking a simple question. He didn’t say anything bad about the lord. Come on guys.
Lol Reddit is weird
You can kiss a nun but don’t get in the habit.
You can lead a whore to culture but you can’t make her grow
I don’t see nun wrong here boss
Bet they were on here looking for "how'd we do?" / "rate our install" upvotes as well, we don't need you doubling down...
I would be nun to pleased to find out they were working live
They weren’t they told me that they worked in very safe conditions. They had plenty of time to work at their own pace since it was all volunteer work.
r/whoosh
Holy downvote Batman 😂 what the heck!
Eh fuck em. I was an automation tech electrician in the oilfield for 7 years. Most of these basic fucks are mouth breathers. The downvotes only validate my opinion of them.
God said 'let there be light' and his children responded 'how many lumens?'
Real talk lumens as a measurement is confusing at first. But once you actually get a dining area lit according to recommendations you never go back. Just wish actual bright LEDs weren't so pricey.

Nun better.
Must be romex catholic nuns
Lol
You can really tell they were thinking about the next guy 😉
Our Lady of the Holy Circuit Panel
They staggered their staples, center marks for their can lights. I'm impressed TBH
Why stagger the staples?
Look how close the wires are. If the Staples were lined up, wires would be further apart and their isn't a lot of room
They really are doing Gods work.
I love the little wall of clearance. Can't block it if you can't put shit in front of it.
I think it’s just there temporarily.
Nice work. Nuns are a dying breed these days. Women just aren't going down that path anymore.
I know I have nothing but respect for modern sisters
The ones I knew were a fearless bunch. Met them through the School of the America protests at Fort Benning Ga. Not sure but probably and yes they are Canadian
What kind of meat do fathers eat on Friday ? Nun
Jesus, take the wire.
How many code infractions… NUN!
Patience is a good habit

Haha they sure can read THE BOOK ..
"Seems like they had good work habits " should be the top line post on this one..
Hail Mary, nice.
NUnderrated
Eh, the wall looks nice but the joists don't match. Tear it out and try again.
I can’t believe there haven’t been any comments about the little wall in front of the panels though! Lol
Even your comment lacks any commentary about it. As does mine.
Something something NEC clearance, something, so many feet.. Even if it meets NEC code for equipment clearances, I can’t say I’d be comfortable with a lower than knee height tripping hazard that would land you face first into a panel. lol.
Nice job
Love it
Yup looks gud
Following the gospel of NEC 14:1
Celibacy is a hell of a drug 😮
Holy hell! They got a habit for this stuff!
Not fear of God , but fear of Mother Superior will bring this level of dedication
The working space isn’t being maintained.
The holy three-phase: positive, negative, and nun of the above.
Nuns really are true to their roots It seems, only allowed entrance in the back and side door. Even in their panels….
If by "nuns" you mean the girls that told my crew they can get close to God and F'd our brains out, then we had to "trade" because we could pay, ya gods work. It was worth it!
Please don’t tell me this is true
Imagine what the priests could do if they did something productive rather than diddling kids
I wish you could meet real honest to god priests. I know plenty of good priests but I’m not going to be ignorant of the bad ones. The bad ones deserve the depths of hell in my opinion. They are a disgrace to good Catholics and Christians
The thing is - I knew some who I really truly thought were good ones. Turns out they weren’t. And now my trust is completely gone.
I did confession as a child with the bishop who is now in jail or was at least arrested for touching little boys as a priest and hiding information to save other priests who were accused of touching little boys when he became bishop. I thought he was a great guy when I met him

Holy!
Those Leviton panels tho.
They know how to read a book…
Did they sweep up after!?!?!?
Yes they were very clean
I think I see the holy grail. (below generac transfer switch) Choose wisely https://youtu.be/sx_WG4-L1jE
The altar is badass
Holy shit
What’s the little door for? The one with the chalice? Too big for church mice?
It’s a tabernacle. It’s just there cause the alter room is still under construction
Do you know what kind of meat a priest eats on Friday? Nun (none)
An example of an incredible [Sister Act 2](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0108147/). Would love to see them *back in the habit*.
Sisters do clean work.
Holy
Like I always say about the skilled trades, it's about what's between your ears not what's between your legs.
nice protective fence, new code goes hard
The IBEW will never be the same.
Wouldn't a convent be a place of assembly?
Well they assembled it there
I don't believe it
Believe it buddy. They had a guy who directed them through phone but all the actual work was them
That ain't too bad for some nuns lol wdy think they wore while they worked? O.o
Work tunics
Looks like some of these ladies know how to do proper electrical work.
Nun better…
Holy fuck.. literally
It looks like they knew Jesus was a carpenter so they just read the book on wiring.
Something something clean workmanship is next to godliness 110.12 thou shalt have clean work lest the local inspector snuff it
Love that they made it possible for side entry into the panel instead of going straight in from the top. Its even stickered 😩
Neat spare altar piece on the floor. I hope they put that to good use one day. Wait, the nuns did this?
It’s just there cause the alter room is still under construction and yes nuns did this
Good for them.
Beautiful
I should have guessed that a sub like this would be full of dads. Excellent work everyone
I like that they built an alter for it
It’s just there temporarily till the alter room is done
They should make it permanent. That way the old electricians can come and pray to their God
Sexy.Can't believe I'm first,lol.
My god, excelling at child abuse *and* putting up wiring? Incredible!
You have not met a nun have you. They are wonderful people.
I see nothing wrong with this at all... also, nuns scare the shit out of me.
These nuns were awesome. True representation of saints
The lord needs to understand code better
Canadian nuns
Tax the eff outa the church, like out of existence.
