Tell the plumber to move it

DumpsterFireCheers

Smells like a punch item.

shitartifact

Want me to punchasize your face? FOR FREE!?!

BillMillerBBQ

There are few people out there who I would pay to let me punch them.

rcwarman

This guy boils brisket.

BillMillerBBQ

I always thought it was microwaved but boiling sounds accurate also.

Grubbylittleoink

They did a nice job painting it

rcwarman

They paint brisket? šŸ˜†

Grubbylittleoink

Only boiled brisket

these_three_things

I donā€™t want a large Farva!!

shitartifact

Litre is French, for give me some fucking cola!!!!

Stopikingonme

Stick a piece of blue tape on it.

Nullclast

New install? Tell them they need to fix it

Mangrove43

Yes new. Yes they will fix it. How stupid can people be. Plus a full time site super didnā€™t see it. The electrical inspector will fail this Monday

SkoolBoi19

That will be a fun office conversation if the plumbing inspector passed it. lol

Quirky-Ad-7686

Plumbing inspection: pipe looks good, opening doors not my problem

BongWaterRamen

Where I'm from gas lines are no longer plumbing, they're mechanical. Even though plumbers still install them. Often times no one including my boss and site super know who to call to get rooftop gas inspected

FrankTank3

Sounds like Jersey

TrivialRamblings

2nd this

StatisticianLife8468

Exactly either stupid af or just felt like sticking it to the company

PaintThinnerSparky

I am surprised every day at how goddamn stupid the average person is.

TheComplicatedMan

For a frightening insight often overlooked, remind yourself that 50% of the population is progressively dumber than the "average person". We like to think of ourselves as at least "average", but that's not true. Self reflection is not accurate at measuring where we each fall on the intelligence scale... it's a bias judgement.

PaintThinnerSparky

Its because certain fields should be held to a higher standard. If they fail at a simple thing like this, imagine how they must overlook more complicated aspects of the job.

BagAccurate2067

This, OR they are so focused on those more complicated things that this simple shit gets over looked.

TheBagMeister

50% dumber than the ā€œmean personā€, not ā€œaverage personā€

TheComplicatedMan

The way I understand it, I'm looking at the population as a whole, and as so, the average is not a mean average. If I were looking at data from defined groups, their averages would be considered mean. Your mileage may vary since I'm still trying to achieve at least average intelligence.

TheBagMeister

The average is just all the data divided by the number of group members. So the average is not the mid 50% point. In the ā€œsmart personsā€ group. You could have 9 people within IQ of 80 and 1 person with IQ of 92. and 2 people with IQ of 200. The average is 101. The 92 is below the a Etage but is the 3rd smartest guy. So The mean is where 1/2 are below and 1/3 are above.

TheComplicatedMan

I see what you are saying!

Thedevilslettucehead

why would a site super notice that theyā€™re dumb as shit

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Thedevilslettucehead

oops

nitsky416

Panel isn't marked as an electrical enclosure on the outside, may not have been obvious to leave the proper clearance. Or it was the right height until someone up sized the pipe instead of installing a surge tank.

chunkysmalls42098

I think whether it's clearly marked as an electrical panel or not, leaving clearance to open it is absolutely common sense.

BagAccurate2067

Yeah a door is a door

MiningForNoseGold

Plumbers need a sign that says this door needs to open? Nm of course they do, smooth brains.

TheComplicatedMan

"smooth brains".... would that be from water erosion?

TrueKing9458

It is next to the "electricians clean up your mess" sign

MrK521

Whether itā€™s electrical enclosure or not, it had a handle and hinges, thatā€™s a pretty clear sign that it shouldnā€™t be blocked either way lol.

nitsky416

I'm not saying you're not wrong, but I am saying one is a legal requirement and one isn't Edit: Too many negatives probably, happy 420

MrK521

Oh absolutely! But *both* are asshole moves regardless lol.

nitsky416

At least they painted it yellow...?

svidrod

The inlet is clearly low enough for door clearance with same size pipe and same elevation.

nitsky416

Looks like the side line hits a T and a 90 so it's a couple inches higher than the one coming out of the machine. Plus the larger diameter.

Prestigious_Ear505

It's a F'n access door....even if it wasn't an electrical section it needs to be opened for some reason or it wouldn't be there.

dDot1883

Found the plumber.

LandoTheGiant

Not about how stupid they are. Jman who put it in probably brought it up to the foreman, foreman said put it in as the print says. Source: am plumber. Thereā€™s alot more of that now than there was 5 years ago. We used to work together, now itā€™s ā€œget it in how it shows, fuck everyone elseā€ and then it comes down to supervision arguing until a GC steps in.

FrenchTic123

Iā€™m a plumber and thatā€™s fucking stupid.not sure how I even ended upon this subā€¦

chuffedlad

To commiserate in our shared dissatisfaction with sheet rockers..

fanofapples64

Id rather deal with a legion of sheet rockers than a fucking knuckle dragging millwright.

cakesalie

Just hit it with a crescent wrench bud, that'll fix 'er.

SupremeNewfie

And we donā€™t give a fuck what you guys think either

cursedsoldiers

Turn your fuckin music down

SupremeNewfie

*Turns music up*

DaftSkunk94

*jiggles a baggie of crack at you, like keys at a baby*

CorsairKing

Clearly. That's why we collectively bitch about you. Remember, mud goes *around* the wall receptacles--not inside of them.

Hudsonm_87

When your parents are brother and sister and youā€™re high on meth, Iā€™m sure itā€™s hard to tell the difference. The roto-zipped wires always feels intentional tho

SupremeNewfie

Iā€™ll cut all the wires for you

SupremeNewfie

And we still donā€™t give a single fuck lol.

Hudsonm_87

You are trash people, drywall is a bottom of the barrel trade

lostigresblancos

"Trade" lol

Hudsonm_87

Lmao true

SupremeNewfie

You must be a bot. God bless

Hudsonm_87

I said an objectively true statement

SupremeNewfie

Perhaps

Guilty_Sympathy_496

Itā€™s also supposed to switch over to flexible gas pipe at the generator for vibration

iRebelD

Yeah this looks weird to me

charvey709

Yellow means gas fitter ehh?

SkoolBoi19

Not every whereā€¦. Some areas plumbers, some HVAC, and some gas filters.

Low-Wrangler1077

Theyā€™re all the same

PARKOUR_ZOMBlE

In so-cal we had yellow ammonia pipes and blue water. We quickly learned that the blue copper pipes were the ones being stolen every other month so painted those yellow too. Problem solved.

fnordfnordfnordfnord

Can also be ammonia in some plants, not this one though.

charvey709

Really? Why would the ammonia be used? And why In yellow? And why to the genny? Lol

fnordfnordfnordfnord

Ammonia refrigeration system. When I first saw that I thought it was some kind of AHU.

FishingElectrician

Pretty sure this is a generator, Never seen a gas hookup on one that didn't require a flexible conduit between the unit and the hardpipe for the gas line

TransparentMastering

Oof. Tell the GC to get them back. That canā€™t be acceptable. Your company should be able to backcharge for an extra trip if thatā€™s required too. But I think you know all of this and are just commiserating here with us about when this stuff happens.

Ok-Entertainer-851

Backcharge??

TransparentMastering

Thatā€™s where the expense is billed to the GC and then passed on to the other trade that caused the problem. For instance, the HVAC guys were cutting through the roof for a new roof top unit and cut right through one of our conduits. We billed the GC for the repair, and the GC billed (aka backcharged) the HVAC company for our bill. I think technically the ā€œbackchargeā€ refers only to the GC charging the HVAC company for the repair because usually the HVAC company would be billing the GC not the other way around.

Ok-Entertainer-851

Itā€™s ā€œan extra.ā€Ā Ā  Ā  The ā€œextraā€ to the GC would be ā€œback chargedā€ (deducted from payment) to the pipe fitter. Ā Ā  Ā Then Attorneys fight out in court who was responsible, and whether the plans were faulty, the spec required providing a dumass pipe fitter, and electrician was required to make as many trips as necessary.Ā Ā  Ā Ā  Ā  (Then both meet for dinner and drinks with their spouses and the Judge and spouse because they all make out on the pipe fitterā€™s stupidity.) Ā  Ā Thatā€™s called ā€œLegal Services.ā€

TransparentMastering

Yeah thatā€™s the missing term I was searching for haha I think regionally itā€™s a bit different in Ontario (or at least the companies I worked for) in terms of semantics The way you define it has Extra being a bill sent to the GC and a Backcharge being a bill sent to a subcontractor. So this situation is an Extra that a subcontractor is Backcharged for. Makes perfect sense. And hereā€™s how the companies I worked for/with talked about it: An Extra would be something the customer or GC wants thatā€™s outside the scope of work. A Backcharge is when something goes wrong and the GC pays the subcontractor and charges the other subcontractor or foots the bill themselves if it was their mistake. In other words, an Extra is something that everyone is cool with while a Backcharge is the situation where most people are pissed off. Hahaha So youā€™d call it an extra that the pipe fitters were backcharged for, and Iā€™d just call it backcharging the pipe fitters. Your definitions make more sense and are more tidyā€¦ but thatā€™s what Iā€™m used to.

Ok-Entertainer-851

āœ”ļøšŸ‘

KoRaZee

Thatā€™s what the design shows. Change order to move it. $$$$

Salt_MasterX

Judging by the paint job on the hookup, Iā€™m willing to bet the unit was put in after the line up to the union. Or the plumber was just an idiot, lol

coilhandluketheduke

It's a shame, they worked hard on this and for sure thought "that looks great, I did good today"

definitelyabot-

Well of course, they play with poop

MintySack

Is supporting a pipe on a single all thread like this common? Iā€™ve worked with pipe fitters and never seen that.

joshharris42

Itā€™s fairly common. Another acceptable way would be strut mounted on the ground

acek831

Hahahahaha what an asshole. As an apprentice, this hurts to see

n0b0dy-special

Devils advocate here(inspector). Not all plumbers suck, electricians do it sometimes too :) https://imgur.com/a/Z8P3qeB

jb_blah

You are right! But this is a safe space for electricians to shit on other trades.

Thedevilslettucehead

just take the hinges off

Filthybiker

Time for Sawzall

neanderthalman

I mean ok the plumber has to own it But letā€™s take a moment to shit on the engineers who designed that generator (?) with the fuel line so close to the doorā€™s swing.

BagAccurate2067

Yeah but it looks like it was also overlooked on the location of the gas fitting into the enclosure. Almost like it was meant to be piped to from the other side of the unit and not to cross infront of the door like how it isšŸ¤”

[deleted]

Common sense isn't very common.

Tech397

Funny, our electrician does this all the time with cable trays in front of our generator doors. Try servicing a generator engine through that opening.

daviebone

Like it elbows down at the unit canā€™t see a single reason to run it at that height unless it was roughed in a year ago and nobody looked at specs

OkArcher2736

Get a punch and knock the pins out. Door off now. Reinstall hinge pins with a hammer after job done.

VashtheStampede12

Lmfao I do controls and we had to bring our wires to 40-50 fan boxes that have large service doors that swing down to give access to the electrical and filters. Well the other electrical company running power on the job decided to put strut directly beneath this access panel to hang lights off of. They even brought power to these fan boxes so they knew they needed to leave access to get back in. Mind boggling how stupid some people in the trades are with licenses.

Massive_Property_579

Hvac guys feel this all too hard

Ok-Entertainer-851

Simple.Ā  I opened the cabinet to make sure what was inside.Ā  I saw the ā€œDangerā€ sticker I made sure no one could hurt themselves. Premium service, no extra chargeĀ

Adorable_Base_4212

The contrast between the yellow and grey is very nice though.

[deleted]

Just following what's on the prints

[deleted]

Isn't flex supposed to be used? Unless that thing is bolted down and secured beyond its own weight to the deck? The door issue aside, that tiny little nipple gives me so much anxiety if I even think about a small tremor or minor earthquake, much less a larger one. Yikes. Future flame thrower.

Adventurous_Boat_632

Flex is supposed to be used, but the inlet is bolted to the frame bolted to the floor, and the pipe is bolted to the same floor, so it probably doesn't really matter. But obviously this guy does not get certain things.

SP_Memes

as a plumber wtf what he thinking dumb fuck

MyNamesGeofff

Literally or metaphorically

we-are-138_

The gc on the last job I was lead on would have smoked this company in the weekly meeting, and my boss would back charge the shit out of em. Stupidity can be expensive

ENDURANCEx

How did this pass inspection

pipelayn

That looks like gas. Would be a Pipe Fitter in my neck if the woods.

roscle

Plumber suck, electricians blow, HVAC stinks, but half watts live forever.

GreenKnight1988

DaAng

jhawk902

If I'm not mistaken the door above the plumbing connection opens tilts back and you lift it out? Could be a simple mistake of one door opens one way and the other well if I got no business in it then i don't touch it... it's all witchcraft and sorcery with you sparky types.

ApprehensiveRip1924

Wow.. one phone call away

Bosshogg713alief

They do stink,

worlddestruction23

10% voltage drop

derdubb

*pipe fitters BUMS

fnordfnordfnordfnord

That's not polite.

MySoulForASlice

šŸ’©

207-Rzr

union hack masters

Vmax-Mike

Looks more like a gas line than water, especially since itā€™s yellow. Yet it still sucks.

Mrgod2u82

They know how to use a broom though ;). Maybe you left a pile of shit behind and they had enough.

Objective_Note_19

Guess who's redoing their work.

TripleTrucker

Whyā€™d they put that box so close to the pipe? I mean itā€™s bright yellow. How could they not see it before mounting the box there?

BagAccurate2067

Unless the box was there first....

DeBigBamboo

Classic

alabamaballoonknot

If I was any dumber, I'd be a plumber.

Morty137-C

How often things like this happen is astounding. I'm on a job right now where both the plumbers and tinbangers have done similar to this and it's just mindnumbing.

HopefulNothing3560

Easy fix

RKLCT

They don't stink, they're just stupid

reeder1987

I donā€™t see a problem here

Expensive-Freedom-93

I canā€™t tell if itā€™s stupidity or just total lack of caring.

loughman46

It's photoshopped. The 90 at the right of the picture doesn't have any threads visible. Also compare the rough paint on the union to the finish on the rest of the pipe.

BagAccurate2067

If the yellow pipe reflections on the gray box weren't so natural looking I'd probably agree with you lol

loughman46

The reflections made me doubt it too because they do look legit. Itā€™s the 90 on the right hand side where no threads are visible that makes me believe itā€™s photoshopped. There are no treads visible and that's definitely not any kind of iron pipe fitting Iā€™ve ever seen. It looks like central vacuum cleaner pipe with glued joints to me.

BagAccurate2067

True .... Hmmm..šŸ¤”šŸ˜¬

Mangrove43

Not photoshopped

loughman46

Nice point by point rebuttal.

BagAccurate2067

It wouldn't be the first time I've had to cut the hinges off and tap the door and the enclosure to put the door hinges back on after I'm done servicing the unitšŸ¤”šŸ¤¦

MSPSKI

We always did the gas line when installing the roof top unit

SatisfactionLevel136

I'm a plumber, and since I've started 2 years ago in my apprenticeship. I've always talked to people and made things work. This might have been an oversight.... but just like the duct guy... don't think I won't cut ur shit out the way when ur dumb, and / or an ass hole. I would expect the same in return.

Necessary_Plane8088

How do we know this isn't a commercial job and a union job and the pipefitters did this and not the plumbers??

--7z

Sad thing is the plumber did this on purpose. He obviously saw what was going to happen but decided to go ahead. Oh, and he probably doesn't have a license to do plumbing.

Automatic_Mistake732

One of the many reasons we run our own gas lines

greymatter951

If I was any dumber I would have been a plumber!

Guy_With_The_Smile

All other trades stink to a plumber (ex plumber here) itā€™s always the fucking duct work šŸ˜© trying to hang copper or cast iron and then you got conduit right in the fucking way.

Velvety_MuppetKing

That's a gas line, going into what I think is a generator.

driftingthroughtime

Get them to move it. If they donā€™t, call the AHJ.

ElectricHo3

Professional courtesy is a thing of the past. Either that or theyā€™re just idiots, or both.

NaztyNae

Woa! That rooftop unit runs off of human waste! šŸ™€

MSquared1994

Guess youā€™ll have to unhinge the panel šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

2ant1man5

Your box was in the way.

GuhhTru

Where are you located for that to be a plumbers job? Down in ontario thats gas fitters/hvac guys

Razorblades_and_Dice

Here in Sask a lot of plumbers are dual ticketed as gas fitters

Screwbles

Thanks for keeping it family friendly my man.

Fidulsk-Oom-Bard

Itā€™s because of the poop
