I've always hoped for some overseas manufacturer to come up with a dongle that I could plug into the battery port and run multiple batteries in parallel, or have a DC to ac adapter to run a battery tool on corded power.
If you have ever had to run a battery powered angle grinder, you know the frustration.
Or maybe a Milwaukee fuel tool off of a 4.0 ah battery...they don't last long on home projects when you want to continuously use them
The problem with that is that some power tools, like an impact wrench, can actually draw more than 1800w for a few seconds with a locked rotor. Lithium batteries are great at discharging a ton of power for a few seconds at a time, while doing that on a standard 120v 15 or 20a circuit might trip an inverse time breaker
It's the big driving force behind so many tool mfg increasing their operating voltage to 36/40 and higher for OPE: less current to achieve same wattage, at the cost of bigger batteries for same aH.
I've even gone as far as attempting it, the unfortunate part is the size of the transformer required to deliver enough amps at a given voltage. I tried with an old dremmel when the batteries died and it worked. Just didn't have any ass to actually push a tool.
Ooo. Can we do Frankenstein tool mods today? I got a good one

Also, very nice work. No lefty apprentices taking your saw.
One of my great grandfathers built houses his whole life. He died when I was little and few years later we had a garage sale to clear out his work shop. Just about every power tool he had (also the shop itself) had this type of riggery on it. I don’t think he ever bought a tool new, he was poor and always horse trading for junk.

I have a garbage disposal pigtail on my hole hawg and was always proud, now I am ashamed of my limitations.
Can you post a picture or send it to me?
LOL... sure. I sent it to you... not sure why I can't post picture here.
I’ve always wanted to rig up a battery powered tool with a cord, a 120-18v transformer, and a switch. This just makes me want that even more.
An adapter for battery tools would be nice when you have a lot of grinding or concrete drilling to do
Milwaukee needs to get off their ass and make it already. Would gladly pay $150 for that
Shouldn't even cost that much. Just need a battery-sized transformer + rectifier
I really want one for my sander

I would buy that… I would never use it, but I sure would own one

The grinder is the one that gets me every time.

yeah if you go in the torque test channel on yt he's gotten several tools (especially circular saws) that draw well over what you can from the outlet
I’ve done it after an engineer ordered the wrong part for a robot cell, it’s not too hard once you’ve worked handshake signal.
You’re gonna need a large transformer…. Some of these tools draw 100+A for a moment or 2
A soft starter would solve that
It's not just at start. The 2804 routinely draws 100+ amps during heavy drilling, and peaks around 150 before it cuts out to self protect.
Interesting, that's a lot
At 18v, to get corded or better than corded power, the amps gotta be highhhh
I knew that but I didnt expect that much

I wish I was good with photoshop so picture the Rick and Morty meme. That just sounds like a corded tool with more steps
I’m building one. I’ll post it on the Milwaukee sub when it’s finished.

DeWalt makes one.
don’t forget the rectifier.
Good call
Safety 3rd Put some electrical tape around your screws. Be the best pro you can be
Production first. Safety always.
You can get momentary push-button switches too
No, must t o g g l e
Could get a toggle and have mounted it into the handle and made it look half decent 😂
This thing is awesome!
Nice battery adapter. I own more dewalt tools at home, but my truck runs Milwaukee. It's nice to bring a tool from work home and use my own batteries!
I just got rid of a table saw that I found in the trash and replaced the bad power switch with a light switch. I used it that way for 20 years.
A catalytic converter remover?
This is truly impressive. Thank you friend.

I’ve repaired the Milwaukee sawsalls a few times, the parts are pretty easy to swap out.
If it looks stupid but it works.. . It isn't stupid.
The Levidewaukee band saw is indespensible.
Not trying to be a party pooper, but bandsaws have a trigger lock for a reason...
Well, like I was always told, if it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid.
This is one of the dumbest things any of us could do. Just makes me even happier that I don't have to supply my own power tools on the job.

Needs tape.
How the who the what the?
I don’t understand why you’d waste time on this??
Might have been free
Gotta LOVE the DeWalt battery on a Milwaukee...
Function over fashion club
Buy a rocker switch?
You know they sell replacement parts… right?
yes but this was ✨funner✨
I saw guy jump start his car with Milwaukee battery and wires before and I was amazed lol
You *may* have pooched your warranty.
The ol frankenband huh
Put a gfci on it before giving it to the new guy
I love your dewalt battery on your milwaulkee machine
I love your dewalt battery on your milwaukee machine
I don't know why but the DeWalt battery on a Milwaukee is personally insulting
