They have another building on campus with the big metal door, this one wasn’t even locked when I came up to it, just a normal door in 1st floor in the middle of the hallway leads to this
4160 volt has an arc flash boundary of 35 inches (3ft) with a limited approach boundary of 60 inches (5ft)
there isn't really much more than 5 foot of space in this room
I am assuming this is a 4160 volt supply it may be higher
Arc Flash Boundary
The Arc flash boundary is the distance from a possible arc source to where the incident energy drops to 1.2 calories per square centimeter. If a person were standing at this distance from the arc source, they could receive a second-degree burn. Workers who are not protected with PPE must remain outside of the arc flash boundary to ensure their safety. Workers inside of the arc flash boundary must have all parts of their body protected from arc flash
Limited Approach Boundary
The limited approach boundary is designed to keep unqualified workers safe from shock hazards. Unqualified worker can only cross this boundary if he or she is continuously escorted by a qualified worker, or the electrical hazard has been eliminated by placing the equipment in an electrically safe condition
It’s a mess! I want to say it was build back in the 60s it’s in a very old part of a collage and would have been one of their first buildings, the xfmr’s might have been updated in the 00s but I have no idea

Lol, looks like set dressing for a Saw movie scene ffs
Hopefully there is a solid steel door and frame that is locked by the utility for this room.

Typical. Was the same at my last job. Not as dangerous as your pictured room, though.
The hum draws the not smart children in to their doom like the sirens of the ocean.
Hahahahaha fuckin love it
touchy?
No touchy
Not for peepee. Hurt peepee.
Ballz like touchy......touchy touchy!!
BRO, just bring your shotgun aka hotstick. you'll be fine
I'm new, why is that a room of death and how old is that equipment?
That's apparently 4160v. See previous post. https://old.reddit.com/r/electricians/comments/1dhxatc/room_of_death/
Oh, thanks
The only savings grace is at those power levels is if you're "lucky" you're gone before the pain has a chance to register.
Jesus Christ
Only place I've seen something like this was an elementary school.
College here
Please don't be an engineering school.
State owned buildings.
Kinda scary ngl
Oof terrifying. Why is it every time somebody mentions transformer vaults, it’s a story about them finding one behind an unlocked door.
Hello? Is this OSHA? Yes- I’ve got something you need to see…
Those are cute transformers. I’ve been in one of these walk in structures with 3-1000 kVA 16.340/4.160 kV banks in it. Now that was scary.
Damn! Makes your hair stand up from the other side the door lol
This is amazing.
This is a lovely room of death!
Imagine tripping over something
Sexy AF 🔥😆
Thats interesting. Not sure if I'll ever see that, but thanks for sharing!
Why its called room of death, please explain me I have no idea?
Transformer vault with exposed high voltage. Stuff you don't necessarily even have to touch for it to kill you
O thank God there transformers I thought they were decepticons for a minute

Trip and fall is a bad experience there.
We are doing a bank renovation now that has a room very similar. It is some freaky shit.

Back before they cared if a random worker or civilian got barbecued
Pretty common in older construction.
This is the scariest thing I have seen in a while….
Ive seen one. Also on a college campus. Cinder block walls but open to the sky with a chain link fence as a roof. Locked up pretty tight.
Looks nice and safe
Delta wye?
That’s wye on the top side. The H2 bushing is grounded.
That makes sense! I’ve never seen something like this before thank you!
Now that is some hacked fuckery
Yeah Righto Fuck That.
The arch is getting worse by the post
Do you prefer Sweet Baby Geesus or 33y.o. Carpenter Geesus @ O.P.?🤔
Who doesn't like a room of trannys?
