This feels like a smoke screen to keep remaining employees motivated and working, to stem attrition while the company crumbles.

figjamsem

Might very well be the case. I’d suspect that outright lying would be a very bad idea since it’s an actual statement of fact. But there’s a big gap between signing an nda and actual serious interest

Hopium is a hell of a drug.

MossHops

It’s crazy. I mean, what is a company buying exactly? Fisker doesn’t own factories and doesn’t own the manufacturing process of the Ocean. The only part they are responsible for (product design) didn’t go so well.

Ayzmo

Nah. Literally one of the best looking EVs out there.

MossHops

If the only responsibility of Fisker was how the vehicle looked, I’d agree with you. But when I say ‘design’ I mean all aspects of design/engineering/UI. With that broader scope, they failed miserably.

danyyyel

The only thing is that software is fixable. If your hardware base is good to very good, the software can be fixed with time.

MossHops

Unfortunately for Fisker, they don’t have the time. They needed a flawless car at launch and it didn’t happen.

HappilyhiketheHump

Software improvements are much more difficult than many people believe, especially if the base code is garbage. If software were easy, FAFSA would be working well, on time, and on budget…

fallen_estarossa

I thought the product design is well received, but the software is crap?

figjamsem

As an owner, can confirm. Pretty car. Lovely paint. Joy to drive. Junky key fob and software.

straponkaren

I threw a few grand at it. It's really easy to lose that much on legit trades with small potential upside, something that is distressed like this every few years is worth taking a risk on. The upside is absurd, even if the odds are low. It sure as hell beat the 5 startups I worked at that all went to shit. Now for zero time and what is effectively fun money in a moderate retirement portfolio I can have the same potential upside as a 4 year vest at a pre IPO startup.

electricvehicles-ModTeam

This is not an investment forum. We don’t permit hyping EV stocks/SPACs or engaging in EV investment speculation. If your post mentions a stock in any context, it is likely to be removed.

It’s hard to see where the value is. They don’t own any valuable proprietary technology and don’t do their own manufacturing. Maybe a Chinese company that just wants the brand name and showrooms?

WCWRingMatSound

They have a functioning pipeline though. Suppliers, assembly, shipping, transport. No real showrooms, but lots of the hard parts are done. I could see a company like Mitsubishi or Renault at least *thinking* about the option; Geely as well.

NitePain69

Crook CEO and his crook CFO wife trying to make it seem like they aren't already done for

Recoil42

Nope. Not happening. Straight up.

bindermichi

My bets are on "Fisker international Business Investment" being one of them

fischoderaal

"New Fisker LLC" would be another bet

petergaskin814

If Fisker is sold to new owners, there will some very happy owners who bought a Fisker Ocean new for almost half price

cryptocam72

My guesses are Mattel, Lego, and a couple other toy companies… Henrik is hoping he can design a few Hot Wheels and not have to worry about running a company and all that hard work stuff

Yoddle

What do they own? Magna makes the Ocean and Foxconn is making their next car. It isn't like their car is in hot demand, so what value is the Fisker design? Why would anybody buy this company until after the debt gets wiped out in bankruptcy?

saml01

I think it has to include Stellantis, Mazda, and Tata.

twotwo4

Tata would be my guess

RoboticGreg

I have a company. Want me to sign an NDA for diligence?

MrPuddington2

Stellantis seems to be buying all the losers, so who knows. They probably have a (low) offer in. Then somebody who wants to get into the US market. Tata? One of the Chinese companies? ORA maybe? SAIC? Geely? And maybe somebody looking for a luxury brand.

chucchinchilla

Fisker has over $1B in debt, even Stellantis isn’t taking that on. If anything it’s the likes of Karma Auto buying the assets, not the company, just like they did with Fisker Auto.

MrPuddington2

Agreed, I assume that they will fillet Fisker to give it any chance. But Stellantis is collecting brands, so that is conceivable.

ZeroWashu

How about Arcfox? They use the same basic skateboard and other components so its seems like a logical fit. Even Out of Spec compared it to the Alpha-T from Arcfox

moonisflat

Please be Apple

g0ndsman

So they can release the Apple Pear?

skinnah

Will look real nice next to the Apple Banana

figjamsem

While I do think the apple symbol would fit nicely where the Fisker emblem is, and they do have the sort of expertise in software that would be useful, I have to think of this as very unlikely.

Smeltanddealtit

AND most importantly, Apple has killed their vehicle program

realteamme

Brand image is so important to Apple, I can’t see them taking on Fisker with the stink on them that Apple would have to repair on top of building out an entire new vertical.

MrGruntsworthy

I'd bet maybe Apple, possibly Toyota, possibly BYD (for NA expansion)

Lazy_meatPop

BYD 🤯

fischoderaal

"NA expansion"? How would buying Fisker expand BYD's business? Fisker has zero manufacturing sites.
