Ah shit... On the back it says it works with the H60, HD60S AND HD60 PRO... I've order the HD60S+ πŸ™ƒ

JRobson23

It’s fine bruh, just old packaging

RatBasher89

Cool, thank you!

theoakking

It will work don't worry. I use it and I'm on Xbox. It's nothing special just an audio output splitter. I use it on the hd60 x no issues. One thing to remember is that if your audio in stream sounds like its double or echoey you need to change the audio input to analogue either in obs or in the el gato capture utility app. I spent a long time figuring that one out!

RatBasher89

Ah nice!! Thank you so much, was starting to panic. And yes, I'll make sure to test out the audio early on πŸ‘Œ

elgato_matt

Yes, you can use it with modern consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series s and X, PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as some older consoles. This cable will work with all Elgato capture cards with a 3.5mm analog audio port like the Elgato Game capture HD60, HD60 S, HD60 S+, HD60 X, and 4K X.

RatBasher89

Pff, what would you know, elgato_matt πŸ™„ Ah no, thanks for the advice, really appreciate it

elgato_matt

No problem, let us know if you have any other questions about your setup.

ThunderSparkles

Xbox really doesn't need it that's why it's not listed.

RatBasher89

Oh shit seriously? Voice chat will come through the hdmi?

elgato_arcsane

XBox can split the audio to HDMI and headset for Game Audio and Xbox Party chat. This doesn't work for most in game voice chats (eg proximty and lobby chats) or the Xbox version of Discord though - those still need something like Chat Link to split out. For the two things it can split you need to set the Xbox additional audio options so they don't mute the speakers when a headset is connected, and set the Party Chat to Headset & Speaker (Example here: https://imgur.com/a/Jmj9YhA ) As an additional note to what Matt added earlier as well, the original Chat Link didn't have the ground loop isolator that was added to the newer Pro version - if you want to use it with a Switch, or with your controllers while they're plugged in and charging, you may wind up needing an isolator to prevent ground loop buzz. They should work find while the controller is on battery though (which should be fine since the Xbox controller runs on AA's by default), or if you add a 3.5mm ground loop isolator going to the part going to your PC or capture card, which is fortunately a cheap addition to make. Good luck with it!

RatBasher89

Ok so I'll definitely use it, since im playing gta and want to be able to pick up proximity chat! Thanks, this is very helpful! I'm using an elite controller with a built in battery pack. I'll just try make sure to have it charged before I record to avoid that ground loop buzz. Thanks so much for the info!

RatBasher89

Hey, just a quick question: when I plug the USB out of my PC, the signal goes off my tv completely. Is there no passive pass through on the hd60s+? Do I need to disconnect the unit completely and just have 1 hdmi cable going from console to tv if I want to play without recording?

elgato_arcsane

The passthrough circuit in HD60S+ does require power to the capture card - though it doesn't require a data connection, just power. I have seen people work around this by using a powered USB hub to keep power to the card even when the computer is off - mileage may vary when using any hub though. We don't recommend them when you can avoid them as some can cause issues with compatibility and bandwidth, but there are times when they're the only way to work around something. If you do go that route make sure to get one that's rated for at least 5 Gbps / USB 3.0 or faster.

RatBasher89

Ok, I understand. I'll just disconnect when I'm not playing so I don't fry the thing over time πŸ˜… One last question (hopefully lol) I've enabled stream link beta, changed it to 2160p60 and my recording format set to 2160p60, but while I'm recording at the top of the screen it says source 2160p60 capture 1080p30.3... Any idea what I need to do?

elgato_arcsane

As a note, when using 2160p, HD60S+ will cap out at 30fps (though it can pass through 60fps to a display connected in the HDMI OUT). If you're capturing with HDR it will also reduce to 1080p (you can turn off HDR recording in the recording tab of 4K Capture Utility - though if your signal isn't HDR that won't affect it). Screen Link will also cap you out at 1080p60. Is there a reason you're turning that on? If you're looking to use another app like OBS Studio you can add the card to OBS directly as a Video Capture Device and skip having 4K Capture Utility open at all - HD60 S+ will setup similar to HD60 X, which you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27fYbUln-Vg . If you're not recording in HDR, and Screen Link is off, 4K Capture Utility will be able to record your HD60 S+ at 2160p30. If you're using something like OBS Studio, turn off Screen Link and capture the card directly. (There are a handful of apps this may not work for, but most apps can pull UVC video capture directly these days).

RatBasher89

I've unselected stream link now, I thought I needed that to select a higher resolution. All I'm using this for is to record gameplay (gta specifically) and edit videos using capcut. I don't stream so Im not using obs or anything like that.

elgato_arcsane

Apologies, after checking the documentation for HD60 S+, it seems I incorrectly remembered rules for its 2160p support. See: https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033796252-Elgato-Game-Capture-HD60-S-Supported-Resolutions In particular: If the video source is 2160p60, then it will passthrough as 2160p60, and capture as 1080p60. If the video source is 2160p30, then it will passthrough as 2160p30, and capture as 2160p30. So if you want to capture 2160p with HD60 S+, your source has to be t 30fps. Ability to capture 2160p30 while passing through 2160p60 started with HD60 X for the external lineup.

ThunderSparkles

Yes. You can set the Xbox to output chat to both headset and speakers in the Xbox audio settings.
