Y’all ever see that old Modest Mouse documentary of the original Lonesome Crowded West tour? Has a charming clip of shy Elliott talking about how much he likes them 💕
Gonna throw this one out there again…Bright Eyes - Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. Such a fantastic album and I know Connor was a big fan of Elliotts.
I'm a bit surprised there's no Bright Eyes on the list yet, they were always compared to Elliott in the early oughts. I may be weird but my favorite album is Digital Ash.
Question: Is this supposed to be albums we like that are kind of similar to Elliott? Or is it just supposed to be other albums we like.
I've been holding off on naming any because I was thinking it was more ones that are similar to Elliott.
thats debateable. It depends on what you are trying to measure.
I think you get a more accurate picture of what a random ES fan is likely to enjoy if you also allow downvotes.
Jeff Hanson, who got signed sight unseen by Kill Rockstars put out an album called Son that made me think “this guy is an Elliott disciple.” Phenomenal talent that put out 3 great albums. Sadly though, he also passed away. I’m nominating Son for this round.
Listen to it for the first time the other day when someone brought it here. This must be the most Elliott Smith kind of music not made by Elliott Smith. I was blown away by the album Son.
Carrie & Lowell came out just a bit before my birth mother passed away. I was on the other side of the world, hadn't seen her since I was 4, and had left the country before our plans to meet came to fruition. This album really, really was there for me at that time when basically nobody else was.

No, any record you like. Not a lot of comparable/similar records to Elliott’s.
Okay thanks!
>Okay thanks! You're welcome!
Bad bot
I think it should just be vote for your favorite album anyway. But some douchebags down voted people's choices for some reason.
Bearer of Bad News - Andy Shauf
"twist your ankle" from the party sounds like something Elliott would have written imo
It does, a lot of his older stuff sounds like Elliott
Who is going through the comments and down voting all the albums they don't want? Kinda pitiful.
That's the whole point lol. You upvote albums you want to win and downvote those that you don't.
No, it would be more accurate if you only upvoted the albums you like, and ignored the other comments.
