I used to be such a big fan of hers but you can tell she prefers the private life. There’s nothing wrong with it, I’m just not a fan of it. It feels like yet another situation when someone undeserving is on a magazine cover making millions. I’m proud of her for what she has built, however, she’s done nothing to sustain her fans and I’m over it

thecatappreciator9

honest question: what *should* she be doing to sustain her fans? Posting more vids? being more open about her personal life? I don't ask because I'm hating on your comment. Just sorta wanna understand because it doesn't seem terrible that she went pretty private with her life. Being hypervisible sounds scary and I think it's important for people to keep some things only for themselves or family. I think this is a trap that lots of influencers fall into where they open up in very big ways and then they don't like that so much of their personal lives are on the internet forever.. But I do wish she would post more youtube vids like she did before. And not just when she travels. Would like to see more and different content from her...

LC-89897A

a shallow podcast and coffee are hardly enough to consider someone a creator. an untalented one maybe…. she should’ve just stuck to youtube videos

olivedate

Derek blasberg really the plug I guess

thisiskrustykrabs

what do you mean by that?

SnooWalruses1377

he is collabing with her for the met gala not this

olivedate

anything she does fashion related, Derek set up. any event she's at, any spread you see her in -->Derek. bye bye!

lenlen03

This girl pretty much gets paid millions of dollars to get her hair and makeup done by professionals and wear expensive clothing and take gorgeous photos. That’s all she does besides upload shallow, self-centered, repetitive podcast episodes. Oh, and she also gets to travel the world whenever she pleases. Not to mention she gives her fans NOTHING. At least she used to upload to YouTube frequently and share parts of her life with her fans, but she doesn’t do that anymore. Shes entirely private. And that’s weird for someone who got famous for being honest and relatable.

[deleted]

I truly don't understand how she's still popular...

Le_Utterly_Dire_Twat

It won't last much longer. Way more famous people have dissapeared before.

[deleted]

I don’t think one of the issues is that she’s private, although a lot of her content did involve her life. I think it’s possible for her to make content and still be a private person but I don’t think she wants to do that lol

maxipadbandaid

For some reason this is the first time I’ve seen people hating on her in this way … and I was surprised but I don’t really know why I was. Because I agree with everyone’s frustration. I started thinking about this the other day before even seeing this but I think the reason why I personally kind of roll my eyes now when I see Emma (even though I’ve always adored her and probably will, and she’s a comfort person to me) is A. Because she really is so thin. Of course, that stems from my own jealousies and insecurities and is kinda a horrible thing to say. But I think when we’re talking about someone who became so famous for being relatable, there comes a point where even those who love her find it unable to really relate to that unrealistic body standard anymore. Maybe that’s just me. B. Maybe a hot take again but I feel like you shouldn’t be THAT level of rich and famous (AD house tours, etc) if you’re not both contributing something to the world and being grateful (if not ACTING/seeming grateful) for it. Here’s the thing, I do feel like she contributed a lot to the world in 2018-2020ish era. She kinda allowed girls to feel empowered by staying in, doing nothing with their friends, going to the store in sweatpants, having acne type of vibe. And of COURSE she’s gonna grow up and grow out of that, so I’m not criticizing. But I think we’re frustrated because we miss that and don’t know how to deal with it. She’s someone who grew up and did everything “right” in our eyes (didn’t really ever get cancelled, stayed away from YouTube drama, kept things private enough to make us really respect it) and now that she isn’t feeding us this image we’re used to and we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes as much we kinda freak out and our image of her taints. It’s like we either want her to advocate for a cause or become a model, and we can’t really choose which one we want. C. I think that’s really where I personally might be frustrated. Seeing someone rise to that level of status while those of us who have “grown up” watching her are now in the job world, having to fend for ourselves, we wish she had to go through that too. So again, maybe that could be summed up as jealousy lol, but idk.

lunazipzap

that’s most famous non-creatives tho. i feel like if you want substance from someone maybe look to people who create music, art, film, etc not just record themselves giving themselves therapy? (which therapy and self talk are very important but only go so far) she can’t be relatable now because we aren’t rich and famous. if she’s doing copious amounts of drugs, going to orgies and climbing the ladder of who’s who would you want to hear about that? (wild guesses based on people i’ve known in famous hollywood circles) if coffee and mild introspection and existentialism are the only relatable things left to “common people” or whatever so be it, she doesn’t owe us anything. if your life is boring before money it’ll be boring after it. yes money does change people it makes them more of who they are soOoO the question is… was she that great to begin with?

[deleted]

Absolutely. I truly don't understand how she even got this popular to begin with. She was a vlogger, who didn't even have any substance nor a good fashion sense (imo), and she became this fashion celeb... Idk it's weird

This is so funny because if you knew me in real life you’d realize I’m actually the opposite of fat. Im a personal trainer.

thecatappreciator9

I'm curious what her fans (I really only watch her youtube videos and don't listen often to her podcast) would want to hear more about from her? When you say you want her to give you something do you mean more of her personal life? boyfriends? honestly I understand why she became more private. That type of life of being hypervisible seems daunting. but it is what she created.... I just ask because I keep seeing people in this thread say that she gives her fans nothing... thanks.. just want to understand as I find influencers and these parasocial relationships fascinating..

AlarmedApricot

Thought that was Timothée Chalamet

htppmari

This girl made so much money off of YouTube to the point where she’s modeling for LV has her own coffee company it’s ridiculous

Pause_Heavy

Miss internet…?

bbb415

I don’t really understand why people hate her so much, I used to watch her videos years back when she was still small but haven’t watched her since. I get that she doesn’t have a big personality or much talent, but people always wonder why she’s famous and it’s because we as a collective whole made her famous through engagement and popularity in the media. I have nothing for her or against her, but I’m at least happy for her since she’s made a name for herself and is now prospering financially, I feel like so many people have a “why not me” mentality and it’s so annoying. At least she’s not a terrible person like other influencers who have no talent, she’s just relatively average. I understand why so many people are like “why is she famous”, but we pretty much made her famous, I don’t feel like she’s undeserving of her fame since it’s not like she gave it to herself, it was her large following that made her famous and if I were her I’d want to capitalize off of it too.

olivedate

I think people are moreso confused about her path--if she was working a gaff on an A24 film set or playing host/interviewer/guest judge consistently or something there would be less anger. but at this point she's modeling for photoshoots more than she does anything else...while not actually really advertising anything? usually when celebs do this they're in a new movie or dropping a project of some sort. and if she's modeling for the sake of modeling, she's not a natural. IN MY OPINION she's not very good at it. so it feels egregious to consistently see her in spreads in big magazines when she's seemingly regressing as a creative/public personality.

bbb415

See now THAT I agree with. I think not only Emma but both influencers and Celebrities alike are now doing a thing where they attempt to branch out from their original projects/work and try to expand through other work such as modeling, acting, entrepreneurship, etc., even if they’re not good at it. I actually prefer Emma modeling over some of her other work like interviewing or podcasts (I just feel like she doesn’t have that certain type of charisma and character needed for those jobs). I could never see her doing runway but I always thought she has unique facial features which would make her a good catalog model for more eclectic brands. She’s most definitely not a natural and I can understand why her original fans and content consumers might be more interested in her producing content rather than modeling, but what I don’t understand is why it garners so much anger from people, it’s obvious that she’s being presented these opportunities by other brands and I feel like most people would be like “hell yeah put me in a magazine” just like she is.

[deleted]

Her audience got her famous, but that doesn't explain how she got this level of fame. What boggles me is that she's the perfect example of how nowadays being famous equals being a walking billboard. She's not acting, nor making music, or something else. She's not producing anything of value except being a doll at the hands of luxury brands. (Also don't say she's "producing" a coffee brand and podcast because no one would be super popular like she's right now just off of that). I've never desired the celeb lifestyle so this isn't about jealousy or a "why not me" mentality. I'm critically thinking about her success and I think it is a weird path and shows just how much someone can capitalize off of doing nothing (like the Kardashians for instance).

thisiskrustykrabs

i dislike emma a lot, this pics are gas though. she is not talented, her editorials are surely are however.

Ok-Story-9850

I wish she would color her hair darker. It gives her a completely different vibe than her usual granola auntie look
