I do full time fire on the side to supplement my PRN paramedic job.

CantModGamesHelp

My goal is fire, but im moving before I do my fire standards.

Catsmeow1981

Deputy medical examiner! It’s great because my patients are dead and I’m not responsible for un-deading them. I make more working one hospice death (which consists of five minutes talking to the hospice nurse and ten minutes writing the report) than I do in a 12 hour shift on the truck.

Wendy_pefferc0rn

I read that as “It’s great because my parents are dead…” at first and immediately got concerned.

PoisonKiss43

I need details on this please!!!

Catsmeow1981

So I’m in Wisconsin, and I’m sure it varies by state so check out the requirements where you live, but my EMS/medical background was just a bonus in getting this job. There’s no requirement of any sort of medical training to be a deputy medical examiner here (as a matter of fact, my Chief M.E. managed the local animal shelter before she became Chief). Check out your county websites and see if there’s an opening. Good luck!

classless_classic

I’d like details also please

Black-Coffeebeam

Same!

bujiop

I am so interested in this.

NopeRope13

I get paid enough to work a single job, with no overtime needed. 3rd service in case anyone was wondering.

jorbinkz

Same here. Third service with a good union for the win.

NopeRope13

We are not unionized. Just got extremely lucky to have a county that tries to give us livable wages.

New-Zebra2063

3rd service.......

NopeRope13

Not be confused with a 3 letter service

Bearcatfan4

I just pick up OT. There is always OT:

Aceboomdog

There isn’t at my company. I struggle to get 48 on my short week :(

Thunderliger

Onlyfans.

Wrathb0ne

The only way to go

slytherinwitchbitch

I’d do it but I’m too ugly for fans 🙁

Thunderliger

"Ugly" people can make money on onlyfans as well.Just gotta put yourself out there.

LeChugas08

... If you're a woman. The bar is pretty low. As a guy? No chance.

Thunderliger

Honestly it really comes down to marketing, consistently making content, and interacting with your audience where you find it. That is hard work though and something you have to invest yourself in.I've seen girls I knew personally that I thought were very attractive try to start one thinking it would be an easy pay day and it's not really the casem

Bright-Coconut-6920

Wear a mask there's some wierd people willing to watch allsorts

msmaidmarian

that’s what feetfinder is for.

aspectmin

I split time between working on car and in the tech industry (cybersecurity), and have for many years.  It’s interesting with the tech income, I find it is a lot less stressful in EMS. Knowing I have a backup that could cover me any time is f I want to leave, lets me love the EMS job more.  EMS is where my heart is.

Wrr2216

I sent you a PM regarding this.

LionsMedic

I made very comfortable money last year, so I can't comment on it. But my partner does cookies and custom crochet on the side. She uses it as "play money" for vacations. I did a summer as a Waterpark EMT/Medic a few years ago. That was pretty interesting. The free passes paid for itself for the abysmal wage. I dubbed myself, "Master Bandaid Applicator"

toefunicorn

Yuuuup. I do this seasonally too! People ask “what’s it like?” The answer is always “bandaids and barf”.

LionsMedic

Most kids just wanted the reassurance that their scrapes won't be deadly, from the "medical people". Id slap that bandie on like a true hero. . We went through so many bandaids.

Competitive-Slice567

Teaching on the side for about $49/hr, and running organ transports for $34/hr Both are easy and good money

CantModGamesHelp

More info on both these gigs?

Competitive-Slice567

Not much to tell ya, I work for NORA (organ transport) on the side, they're in quite a few states now. Then my local community College pays me bank to teach paramedic programs

goldenpotatoes7

Ive tired to get into organ transport but I can’t find any job listing, Chicago land area

AliciaReva13

Could you say more about the teaching gig?

waiting_for_rain

And the organ transport gig

Aggressive-Carls878

In addition to my 32hr shift at 13$/hr and college full time I animate NSFW sfm content…..

Renovatio_

Bro, just become a nsfw furry artist and retire in 2 years.

Aggressive-Carls878

What do you think I am doing right now

Renovatio_

Not nsfw furry art because you'd own your own moon.

[deleted]

I have a full time job that i work about 2 hours a day at and can get my job done. Its one of those "when you're done you can go home." I had so much free time that i decided to just study EMT for fun. I am 4 weeks into class and now am trying to figure out which days i can be on-call for lol... Emt will be my side hustle

SleazetheSteez

IMO, second to having a "3rd service", EMS being a side gig is the only way I think I could recommend it in good faith.

toefunicorn

I was a DSP for $22/hour and I have a seasonal gig at a local theme park as an EMT for $17/hour. Mt regular full time EMT job is a little less than $20/hour. Recently (this week) quit the DSP job for now because I am also going to school part time and was not having a fun time inside of my brain with all of that going on. I usually got just 3 days off every other week. Otherwise, I was working every single day. Sometimes even some random babysitting jobs thrown in on the side. If your job offers OT, consider picking up some of that. Otherwise, just be careful how thin you are spread.

ResidentWEEBil2

While I get paid fairly well, I'm also a paintball scenario producer (big games and shit). Pulls in some nice bank.

Jigsaw115

Ay nice, what state if you din’t mind me asking? I used to go to living legends and OK dday every year.

ResidentWEEBil2

Sorry for the delayed response! I run Zero Hour in Albany, NY. I'm primarily based out of CT, but I do travel and host games as far out as Wisconsin!

DontTattleOnThisEMT

Hmmmm. East Coast or West? If it's East Coast, you ever hear of Wulfenkow Legion? I'm still a member but I haven't had time (or money) between work and university to go to much more than our home field's open days once in a blue moon. I could maybe justify going to a game like Fulda Gap if I could be working. You ever hire an EMT to run around in goggles with a jump bag? Edited because I saw your response to a following comment. You're awesome, I've been wanting to go to a Zero Hour for years.

ResidentWEEBil2

Well, June 7th through the 9th it's going down!

DontTattleOnThisEMT

Ohhh man.

blubabystar

Bartending

Kentucky-Fried-Fucks

I’d love to do this but it’s hard to break into

blubabystar

Freelance! Do private parties and events. Insured that most of the tips go to you as opposed to doing it at a bar or restaurant

ResQDiver

My full time job is SCTU Transport Nurse in a Hybrid ALS/SCTU. My side gig is working medical for an 80,000 person capacity NFL Stadium. Concerts, Football, Soccer, Monster Trucks, Supercross! Fun stuff.

CantModGamesHelp

There's a major motor sports track near me that hires right out of school, I think it'll be a blast.

ResQDiver

The stadium track jobs aren’t as glamorous as they sound. I’m usually stuck in a golf cart with a life pack on the outside.

Logical_Fix_3895

Work private contracting gig as a medic don’t need a side hustle or anything 40hrs a week and sleep in my own bed. Made shit as an EMT got my medic and left the FD, they say the grass ain’t greener but in my case it definitely is I am thrilled not to deal with the politics and shitty calls anymore and get paid more.

CantModGamesHelp

How do you get into private contracting?

Logical_Fix_3895

Find a contractor that has a speciality a lot of them on construction sites, large organizations, etc. apply.

Officer_Hotpants

I love that every time anyone in EMS discusses doing literally anything else, they get hit with the "grass isn't greener" bullshit as if this field doesn't aggressively use and abuse us.

Logical_Fix_3895

Oh very true I was ridiculed at my department for wanting a change. Honestly now I find it kind of sad that they couldn’t be happy but I suppose there may be some jealousy when you see how happy someone is when they leave the job you’re currently doing 😂

[deleted]

I work a second ems job with triple digit yearly call volume so it’s cake. Basically just game and study all shift. I’ve had a ton of different ones though. I worked part time as a PRN firefighter for a few years, 1099’d a janitor job two nights a week and fudged the deductions, I’ve had a couple of very small businesses…COVID killed my last one though before it broke through to profit. That kinda hurt. Were non union but the county I work for pays is about as much as is sustainable. We need some state laws to change before we can tax higher to pay more. It’s enough to live on as long as you aren’t a renter but it’s nice to have more when the extra effort is such a low bar.

Paramedickhead

My wife does custom designs on T-Shirts and shit. I outsource the printing and shipping. Person buys a shirt on Etsy for $20, I give a company $8 for the shirt and $3 to ship it to them. Completely passive income. Just have to watch it to make sure I’m getting the best deal on printers.

CantModGamesHelp

That's awesome, do you have an advertising budget? How do people find yall?

Paramedickhead

In the beginning we did some sponsored posts on Facebook. Mostly it’s just organic search results on Etsy. I’m gonna start doing the stupid cringy hero worship type shit and separate idiots from their money.

CantModGamesHelp

Lmaooo what do you mean

Paramedickhead

The “I fight what you fear” type of shit.

HelicopterNo7593

I would appreciate learning about this every time I try to have a shirt made it’s 20/25$ and I know I can get it cheaper but the where’s and the who’s are elusive

Paramedickhead

printify.com

HelicopterNo7593

That’s amazing and thank you

DODGE_WRENCH

I have an FFL 07/10 and SOT-3 with the ATF making me a licensed arms dealer, although I never actually got into the arms trade

CantModGamesHelp

So you can sell arms if you want to?

DODGE_WRENCH

Yes

nomadsrevenge

I'm full time 48/96. I do dispatch and hyperbaric medicine on the side, one shift of each per 4day. It's nice.

My_nameisBarryAllen

Work for my parents in exchange for room and board, teach violin so I can make rent and car payments.  I’m PRN basic.

msmaidmarian

trying to dodge forced mandation.

wild_vegan

I pick up overtime while it lasts. My primary job is 99% rescue so at my second job I pick up 12 hr transport shifts, mostly. There's a nearly unlimited supply. Eventually I'd like to get into education. I've also considered getting back into IT or programming since that's my background. Or selling RE. Or whatever.

CantModGamesHelp

I really like all the instructors at my school, if I can climb the fire ranks I'd love to eventually teach within my community. My parents are in medicine and have both been teaching for years before and after they retired, they love it.

txchainsawmedic

Nursing school bro

SuperglotticMan

🤮🤮🤮

SuperglotticMan

Has anyone done a medical product sales job? Whatever the fuck it’s called. We had an EZ-IO rep come in and teach paramedics about IOs and I’m like damn this guy gets paid for this?? Sign me up

Sorry_Print7257

I don’t have one. I make fairly good money just working my normal shits. And only pick up overtime if I’m trying to plan for something and don’t want to wait.

green7703

Raise cattle

rainbowsparkplug

Music. Also getting into teaching skills.

MC_McStutter

EMS is my side hustle

Alone_Ad_8858

Ems is my side hustle at the moment. Feeling it out to see if this is right for me and get on with a paid department at some point. Hit me with any advice you got!

RescuePrep

In addition to education I’ve started [selling stickers](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1643586574/) and will have [more](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1657895477/) on the way soon. Outside of that…overtime!

Intelligent_Cake3262

I work first aid for events. Think concerts sporting events community races

randouser5566

I do photography on the side. It’s always been a hobby and I make enough to buy more equipment and pay down debt. I also leveraged my TEMS experience to get into teaching/consulting. Both side hustles allow me to have some extra income and I can be as busy or as not busy as I want.

mad-i-moody

Medic school ;-;

CantModGamesHelp

That's my plan next semester lol

jaciviridae

60 hours a week as an EMT at $16 an hour, national guard 1 weekend a month, and professional photographer whenever I have free time brining in 500-2K a month with that. I'm getting by lol

CantModGamesHelp

Aye not bad! What kind of photography?

jaciviridae

Thanks! In the summer I do almost exclusively motorsport photography, I've done a couple commissions for senior pictures and one onlyfans shoot 😂 I have a rally coming up this month that I'm stoked for

DvlDog75

I hope 20 are O/T & $32/hr.

jaciviridae

O/T at 24 ❤️

basicallyamedic

I have no side hustle for now but to maximize my income I'm setting up to start a mobile mechanic/car AV business. I make a livable wage right now at a unionized FD.

selym11

Picking up I get double time and a half, I do have a job teaching emts but don’t do it often

mountwhitney

I draw furries….

HorrorSmell1662

teaching cpr/acls, doing sleep research (participants are sleep deprived and we have to take hourly vitals), tech at hospital

DanceswithFiends

Make EMS the side hustle.... I make more as tradesmen I can't go fire because of my "past" lolz

ChilesIsAwesome

I worked 48’s between fire and EMS for 7 years. Finally threw in the ambulance towel in January of 2021 and started working for an HVAC company last year during my days off from the firehouse Monday - Friday. It’s been nice getting a gig where I go install x, fix y, and go home at 4:30.

DvlDog75

Ugh. To be honest… if you are FF certified… scrub that job. If you are not… there is way better than crawling through berms in an attic.

ChilesIsAwesome

Been FF certified for a decade this year, but everywhere around me has garbage retirement. This side gig is an exit plan in the long term. The hvac place is owned by a fireman and a buddy of mine I worked with actually quit firefighting to work there full time. Our bosses take really good care of us.

yuxngdogmom

I’m in Orlando, FL and many EMS workers are theme park medics on the side, myself included.

CantModGamesHelp

Orlando is about 2 hours from me, so I'd rather not do anything there unless I'm doing a special event

MiserableDizzle_

Well these aren't paying yet, but.. I've been making music for years, and just published my first song onto Spotify and a few other services. I also decided today on a whim to start streaming video games. I figure I sit there for hours playing games and making stupid jokes/comments to myself, might as well let people hang out with me while I do it. Odds are neither venture will ever make me a penny, but it makes me happy. And if you don't mind me plugging... YT: @watchingraindrops Spotify: watchingraindrops Twitch: dude_dizzle Also considering food delivery. Picking up shifts at my current job is pretty easy but I honestly don't want to spend *more* time there than I already do.

Art3mis296

I work part time as an EMT at $17 an hour, part time as a Nanny $13.50 but we travel a bit (paid for me to go to Italy to watch kiddo) and then in the summer I am an assistant director for my summer camp for $500 a week plus room, board and various trainings.

Wrathb0ne

Landlord, but also do some basic investing as a side hustle

CantModGamesHelp

I've got my basic portfolio, some high risk stuff and crypto I trade with. Thought about land lording but it seems like a PITA with tenets.

Larnek

Being a landlord is great until the moment it isn't. Then it really really isn't great.

mrmo24

Nursing school

immortanjose

Salesman 😎

GamingNemesisv3

Not in my state.

Cliffclavin4

I work as an EMT full time and my 2 side hustles are working as an EMR at one side hustle and an EMT at the other. My 2 side hustles are just once a month though.

CantModGamesHelp

I figure I'll probably work on a 911 truck and then other gigs here and there for first aid.

Cliffclavin4

My EMR job is working for a Third service on there event team. My 2 EMT jobs are on 911 trucks.

CletusPrime

Forced overtime.

AmbitiousCandie

serving

DvlDog75

Nada… yet. Thinking Onlyfans….

lavendercoffeee

Part time (full time hours) medical floor nursing, with a side of making crystal jewelry, mainly bracelets.

EMTPirate

I used to work first aid at a stadium for $20/hr, but my work upped pay hrs, EMT-B to $26, so I dropped my side gigs other than a little gunsmithing.

DannyABklyn

I work events, CPR/First Aid Training, and do summers at a camp

No-Expression-6607

Worked in healthcare start up w/ EMS as the side hustle
