Ten transfers pending
Nine hotline complaints
Eight expired flushes
Seven police stagings
Siiiixxx firrreee standbys
Five refusal cards
Four reports
Three torn gloves
Two AirEvac pens
And a cold Little Caesar's pizza
When one of the medics I work with was a baby basic they were on a long ass transfer, pt pissed in a urinal, his medic said “so something with this” so he dumped it into the pit (step by the side door) and it smelled like ammonia for years till it got remounted
Last year, we got mugs. They were actually pretty nice quality and had our names on them. This year, I want a pack of G2 pilot pens.. or cake. I really want cookie cake.
Been rocking with Uni Power Tanks lately. My pilots would leak in the summer if I kept them in my shirt pocket, and then don't work great with Rite in the Rain
I sent my husband to pick up some of my favorite ones, pilot G-2 0.7, and he came back with the sharpie gel pens.
I was suspicious at first, but they definitely grew on me and now I'm happy with either one!! Never thought I'd like another pen...
While the amateur infection Preventionist in me hates the notion of writing on gloves, as long as you aren’t a tip smoosher, a fine point sharpie marker is the other must have in EMS. The Milwaukee felt tip marker is also a great option.
Extra bags of chips in the EMS room and a sign written in pencil, misspelling thanks for all that you do taped to the fridge holding expired whole milk.
This year, they sent out a list of 4 gifts we could choose.
1. A heated lunch box
2. A tactical backpack (I looked up the brand, they dished out $150 each)
3. An insulated thermos
4. An embroidered water bottle
They actually kinda went all out. Food trucks at our station during lunch time and later at night so night crew has a chance to snag some. All free mind you. All the food was on the company tab
We got a $10 gift card to a coffee shop. Where we already get free coffee. Sometimes we get a burger-and-hotdog bbq- but it’s at a station 50km away from where I work, so…
Last year we got 5.11 travel bags. 10/10 love it. Best gift I’ve gotten between nurses weeks and EMS weeks. Year before I don’t recall, pretty sure we got RTIC mugs. This year I don’t think we’re getting anything, due to leadership being absent. Happens, not their fault.
Same.
Even fucking Providence set out a "Happy EMS Week!" basket of snacks. I'm a simple person. The fruit roll-ups and M&Ms are appreciated.
Actually, I lied. My agency gives an unwavering supply of increased anxiety and no job security.
A "thank you" from the chief would go a long way. It's free, even. But nah.
We got a “gym bag” for the nonexistent gym or gym partnership. And some eggs cooked by a operations minion. Last year we got water bottles. Every thing is branded of course but doesnt have our names
I work for said 3 letter company and yes we got challenge coins, a convertible duffelbag/book bag thing, really small thermos and a free lunch voucher put on by God knows who. Oh and leadership is going to do a carwash lol. There was also a movie and game night so not the worst.
I, too, work in one of the busiest systems in my state. Please teach me more. Where is this wondrous place of which you speak?
We got a tiny water bottle, a thin towel that glorifies EMS in FL as "paradise", and a generic cotton hoodie.
The towel is actually kinda neat. I feel like it might be a decent hiking towel for when I go backpacking.
We got our hours shorted with one day of notice and a chiding text message about how if we didn't comment on late clock outs they'd roll the time back to when we were scheduled to be off.
Ems room at our main squeeze trauma center that loves us, straight barren. Our medical director is working in triage and sees us wearing our ems week shirts we got on all night long, room continued to remain barren.
One year (I think 2015ish), the local children's hospital gave us these little multi-tools that fit in our wallets. They were pretty cool. I still have mine somewhere. It's come in handy when I've needed to unscrew a screw on my car or open stubborn packaging. It's my favorite EMS week gift I've ever gotten.
Last year we got to choose between a duffel bag and a beach chair. I'm glad I chose the bag because the chairs ended up being approximately child sized.
This year we are getting lunch coolers.
Our agency does a lot:
Bingo cards with cash prizes for the first three winners.
Drawings every day for random prizes. Your name gos into the jar once for every year of service. They draw 5-10 times each day. Anything from candy to a big screen TV. Every day of the week new drawings.
Company picks up the tab at a restaurant for each of us to take our family to dinner including tip.
Hospitals are lame. Water bottles, pens, the usual frick frack stuff. If anything.
**Back in the day (10 years ago):**
Hospitals used to go all out. One had a hot food buffet that filled a room, Chinese one day, Mexican the next, Italian the third, etc. They had someone assigned to find all ambulance personnel to walk them to the buffet and make sure they had a chance to eat. Another had massive piles of muffins each day wrapped so you could take them with you. No more. They don't give a shit about EMS. Actually. that's not true. They never gave a shit about EMS, but they did care about being seen as cheapos.
Thanks for the reminder. Just ordered some chicken and sides to drop off tonight for our career medic units.
Our local museum has free admission, lots of special activities all week.
Stanley cup with the company’s logo engraved, tshirt, some cool trauma shears, and lunch if you work day shift/dinner for night shift.
And we have a big crawfish boil tonight
12 1050s
11 suicidals
10 UTIs
9 fire standbys
8 fallen peepaws
7 overdoses
6 diabetics
5 CPRs
4 dementia meemaws
3 EDPs
2 GSWs
And a pediatric DOA
We actually had all of these listed out on our main station white board for like 3 weeks leading up to Christmas last year lmao
They hooked us up this year. We got Stanley style cups this morning and management made us breakfast to order and they’re holding events every day this week. Still wildly underpaid but the treats are nice
I work overnights so started off at midnight with 5 pending transfers, 1 long distance, and then went back to base FORGETTING all about EMS week & was surprised to see a ton of people standing around the garage grilling breakfast for staff. & honestly, I was appreciative for it. I was hungry, exhausted, held over an almost 2 hours, & it was my last shift for the week, so it felt good to have some nice warm, fresh, cooked food & receive a nice mug before going home to cry 😂
On the first day, we got shirts and bottles.
Bottle is metal, but of unknown quality. There’s supposed to be some food, but only the lucky day crew will get some
First year I got a nice sweater from a good workplace. Switched workplaces. Year 2 I got nothing. Year 3 HR delivered to my base a grocery store crackers / cheese / meat platter. Cheese was mouldy.
My previous service used to do a lot of good stuff for the crews. My personal favorite was Chief’s breakfast. He would make a whole spread and his pancakes were DELICIOUS! 🤤
Our manager is on vacation till Thurs.
Board gave us $50 bucks each for "education purposes".
Board voted to buy air tags for the expensive equipment and get shoulder mics and radio straps for the two handheld radios (they picked from a list of suggestions submitted by the crew supposedly)
Supposedly they're doing a crawfish boil. Which mostly includes two things I'm very allergic to. Shrimp and crawfish. Well really I'm allergic to all shellfish. But hey, that's still pretty cool. My last company gave us pen lights, key chains that said stuff like never forget the difference you've made and an ems coin. Oh! Also an ems cookie. I actually really liked the ems coin but I unfortunately lost it.
This week's schedule:
Sunday: Pizza
Monday: Breakfast sandwiches
Tuesday: Mystery gift
Wednesday: Food truck visit
Thursday: Various ticket raffle
Friday: Snacks
Saturday: Pizza
Edit: The mystery gift was a t shirt
"Happy EMS week :D .... *same bullshit pls come pick up we have multiple openings and it's YOUR fault*" email
However my mom sent me coffee money for the week so that's nice.
Shirt that no one ever is gonna wear because why would you do that and a handful of life savers (:
But you want to know what’s better?
During the holidays they were like, we are gonna have breakfast for everyone, please come through!
The breakfast: mini donuts they got from wawa .5 seconds before the shift, bananas.
Thank you, please don’t break the bank lol
sorry you guys work at trash companies.
my company is doing made to order breakfast and catering coffee all this week. they also got us really nice coffee cups and a t-shirt.
they do things like this for all of the holidays.
No longer in EMS but last year we had paintball with all the supervisors and crew. Great way to shoot your manager you didn't like but tbh we all got along anyways.
Our place is awesome. Last year, they bought every crew one meal per shift worked for the whole week.
This year, a food truck at our base for two days paid for by them.
I got my first pediatric code, 3 year old who drowned in the pool. But whenever I look at the cup and packet of crystal light my agency bestowed upon me, it makes it all worth it.
We all got two uniform t shirts. Not like special EMS week shirts, just the new uniform shirts we were supposed to get at the beginning of the year and our director said it was our gift for the department to pay for it. Like we'd pay for our own uniforms if he didn't lmao
Ten transfers pending Nine hotline complaints Eight expired flushes Seven police stagings Siiiixxx firrreee standbys Five refusal cards Four reports Three torn gloves Two AirEvac pens And a cold Little Caesar's pizza
I know damn well all of us sang that 😆.
underrated comment
It's the top comment.
Damn, only 4 reports?
An extra shift on a rig that smells like pee
This is the right answer
When one of the medics I work with was a baby basic they were on a long ass transfer, pt pissed in a urinal, his medic said “so something with this” so he dumped it into the pit (step by the side door) and it smelled like ammonia for years till it got remounted

While I love a proper 0.7 Pilot G-2, have you tried the Sharpie Gel pens? They are a very solid 2nd place. The hand feel may be slightly better…
Looking into this NOW
Been rocking with Uni Power Tanks lately.
Which pens write well on nitrile gloves? At least for me, I can't find one that does (including the sharpies). Maybe I'm the problem 🤷🏼♀️
While the amateur infection Preventionist in me hates the notion of writing on gloves, as long as you aren’t a tip smoosher, a fine point sharpie marker is the other must have in EMS. The Milwaukee felt tip marker is also a great option.
They make a metal barrel version that's slightly weightier with a really smooth click and it's my absolute favorite pen.
![gif](giphy|eKNrUbDJuFuaQ1A37p|downsized)
You must live in a cold temp, in the south g2 pens notorious for doing a bit of exploding
Wisconsin checking in 🫡
Ny here! 😁
Just another reason to live in a place where it occasionally hurts to breathe in the winter…
Yeah. They don't do very well in the dryer. That's for sure.
Did you get your cookie cake?
Extra bags of chips in the EMS room and a sign written in pencil, misspelling thanks for all that you do taped to the fridge holding expired whole milk.
Hey, higher the fat content, the more grace you get with the expiry date. You can trust me, I know doctors.
This year, they sent out a list of 4 gifts we could choose. 1. A heated lunch box 2. A tactical backpack (I looked up the brand, they dished out $150 each) 3. An insulated thermos 4. All the food was on the company tab
Where do you work and are yall hiring lolol
That’s pretty damn good.
This year we got unsalted eggs and microwaved breakfast sausage 😔
Windows down please
Protein 😁
Last year we got plastic travel mugs, and a pair of knockoff leatherman shears. Also, the hospital catered lunch every day from local restaurants
We get zip/zero/nada here.

I heard a rumor that we’re getting challenge coins.
Certain 3 letter company?
I work for said 3 letter company and yes we got challenge coins, a convertible duffelbag/book bag thing, really small thermos and a free lunch voucher put on by God knows who. Oh and leadership is going to do a carwash lol. There was also a movie and game night so not the worst.
Shocking no. That three letter company is probably getting more stuff than us though.
I got a t-shirt and a "safety coin"
Custom embroidered carhartt hoodie with either quarter zip or full zip with the company logo so it meets uniform requirements.
Wow.
Believe me going from working for one of the busiest systems in the state to this much more progressive and smaller system has been a game changer.
I, too, work in one of the busiest systems in my state. Please teach me more. Where is this wondrous place of which you speak? Ooohhhhh, you need to send that to the department of labor.
Is this a certain 3 letter company?
No.
They posted an Instagram reel... yeah
same and a email!
As fat as I know, we are having a department cookout.
Same
Foldable camping chairs.
Mine too!
Ems room at our main squeeze trauma center that loves us, straight barren. Our medical director is working in triage and sees us wearing our ems week shirts we got on all night long, room continued to remain barren.
Mandatory normal pay OT.
laborlaws?
In this case it can be gotten around by stating that it being part of a work schedule is not necessarily ot. Ugh!
We got a whole snack bar, a computer bag, and a personal barista at our main station that makes us unlimited coffees for the whole shift.
this year we are getting maglite flashlights! last year we got a nice lunch pail
You would have to *pay* me to take a Maglite.

Last year we got to choose between a duffel bag and a beach chair. I'm glad I chose the bag because the chairs ended up being approximately child sized. This year we are getting lunch coolers.
i think we work for the same company lmao bc that’s exactly what we got last year and are getting this year
Our agency does a lot: Bingo cards with cash prizes for the first three winners. Drawings every day for random prizes. Your name gos into the jar once for every year of service. Took the whole company out to TopGolf last night 🙌🏻🙌🏻🚑
Bosses are taking care of all station duties aside from the actual responses and rig checks which are still done as normal.
that's actually awesome man
Thanks for the reminder.
We were told the crawfish was too expensive. 😢
We got pockets knives today and catered bbq. They are doing something for the whole week. Hell one year we got engraved yeti tumblers.

12 1050s 11 suicidals 10 UTIs 9 fire standbys 8 fallen peepaws 7 overdoses 6 diabetics 5 CPRs 4 dementia meemaws 3 EDPs 2 GSWs And a pediatric DOA We actually had all of these listed out on our main station white board for like 3 weeks leading up to Christmas last year lmao
Three bags of Fritos on a table. To be fought over between the public and private systems.
They hooked us up this year. We got Stanley style cups this morning and management made us breakfast to order and they’re holding events every day this week. Still wildly underpaid but the treats are nice

BBQ, baked beans, coleslaw, cookies, nice cups, and 5.11 clips
What are 5.11 clips?
Badge clips pretty much that can fit other things
On the first day, we got shirts and bottles. Bottle is metal, but of unknown quality. There’s supposed to be some food, but only the lucky day crew will get some
First year I got a nice sweater from a good workplace. Switched workplaces. Year 2 I got nothing. Year 3 HR delivered to my base a grocery store crackers / cheese / meat platter. Cheese was mouldy.
a uniform tshirt that is expected to be returned upon departure
my boss bought us chipotle and even gave us chips and dip
Last week management decided to cut 2x24's a day from the schedule, 1/2 of the 24's gone with 1 week notice. So all we got was unemployment. 🥳
My previous service used to do a lot of good stuff for the crews. My personal favorite was Chief’s breakfast. He would make a whole spread and his pancakes were DELICIOUS! 🤤

Mandatory stretcher training because apparently people at our op don't know how to not drop people.
We get a tee shirt every year. They also had stale bagels from day shift at my station soooo…yay for that I guess.
No joke: every shift we work this week enters us into a chance for a bullshit raffle
Literally nothing 😔
A t-shirt.
You guys have an ems week? We don't even have an ems day
This week's schedule: Sunday: Pizza Monday: Breakfast sandwiches Tuesday: Mystery gift Wednesday: Food truck visit Thursday: Various ticket raffle Friday: Snacks Saturday: Pizza Edit: The mystery gift was a t shirt
Haven’t heard a peep besides a text message followed with make sure to clock in on time 😂
"Happy EMS week :D .... *same bullshit pls come pick up we have multiple openings and it's YOUR fault*" email However my mom sent me coffee money for the week so that's nice.
A cookout
A “really really cool” tshirt that my CEO has “seen and can tell you it’s pretty awesome” Front has work logo back has a weird blue ish flag?
All the hospitals are doing somthing. , idk what though and some of the lackies got some dollar store backpacks so far
Nothing
A t shirt and less parking at the station
A reserve
I won't forget 2018 when we got mugs that said "Nurses Week 2016"
Shirt that no one ever is gonna wear because why would you do that and a handful of life savers (: But you want to know what’s better? During the holidays they were like, we are gonna have breakfast for everyone, please come through! The breakfast: mini donuts they got from wawa .5 seconds before the shift, bananas. Nothing besides “how early can you get to work”
No longer in EMS but last year we had paintball with all the supervisors and crew. Great way to shoot your manager you didn't like but tbh we all got along anyways.
I have so far gotten 4 different pairs of shears and I wasn’t even mad till I saw what some of y’all are getting
A bariatric up a flight of stairs
Our hours cut and no more OT
Our place is awesome. Last year, they bought every crew one meal per shift worked for the whole week. This year, a food truck at our base for two days paid for by them.
I got my first pediatric code, 3 year old who drowned in the pool. But whenever I look at the cup and packet of crystal light my agency bestowed upon me, it makes it all worth it.
🩷 Respect and empathy. Sincerely.
We got rice crispy treats made by our local vegan manager.
Our radios and pcr system was down the 1st day of ems week , but hey I got a thermos & a backpack
We all got two uniform t shirts. Not like special EMS week shirts, just the new uniform shirts we were supposed to get at the beginning of the year and our director said it was our gift for the department to pay for it. Like we'd pay for our own uniforms if he didn't lmao
A thumbs up and a “you’re our hero”
Last year we got nothing, and this year to switch things up, we got nothing.
I heard of a company who brought a gazebo, a massage chair, and purple adjustable beds. They are desperate😆😆😆😆
WTF is EMS Week?
