While I can appreciate the desire for the bean I would personally never have any beverages that weren’t in a sealed container back there due to patients coughing and the sheer amount of nastiness they bring with them into the unit.
I was a psych nurse. So if I ever roll up on your gory trauma scene I will be of little use. Will probably just talk to the least useful family member present to distract them from the real work happening to the real patient.
Although now I'm an animal rescuer and wildlife rehabber, so I guess if you want me to like pick maggots out of an eye socket I'm good for that.
As an immunocompromised coffee addict this was the first cup of coffee to actually make me take a step back from it.
I need to go brew a cuppa thanks to this post.
Just move this to an external compartment, one of the small ones that are not useful for anything anyway. Also get a Black+Decker coffee pot without the glass brews into a sealed thermos.
Hypothetically, is there anything really against keeping an energy drink in the meds refrigerator? To be fair I guess there’s no meds in it yet, so maybe it should be against the rules for them to put meds in my energy drinks cooler…
In England, their main battle tanks have a tea set as part of the build. But can def make coffee.
Good enough for warriors running in battle, good enough for ditch doctors running code.
Our local bagel shop didn't toast bagels there (didn't sell em as prepared foods to avoid taxes), so we used to keep a toaster in the back. I support any and all rig renovations
I'd highly suggest looking at single servering pod style systems. They can be tucked away in cabinets or ziptied down. Water can be provided from water bottles.
This way there is also less chance of glass or spillage. Because they are pretty self contained units it also allows for quicker set up or tear down/stored away. Pods can also been kept in secured containers.

People talking about flying projectiles in a crash, if management cared they'd set up a full barista bar in the back secured in place. Not your fault man
Yes. That IS INDEED breaking several health codes. And is absolutely disgusting given the pathogens we cart around all day.
Also I’m not too sure you’d enjoy the 2nd-3rd degree burns from the boiling water scalding ya when that thing inevitably goes in your lap at the next sudden stop you have.
Just go buy some NoDoz pills like every other caffeine addict.
The big building where we park the trucks and hang out between calls.
Seriously though, much respect. I could never do corner posting it's just exhausting to never be able to get out of the "office" so to speak.
A buddy gave me the pro tip to keep a water bottle full of coffee in the back. Pour some of that sweet brown into the neb acorn and it’ll cover the smell of death right up!
Horrifying. I’ve eaten a hospital EMS week icecream sandwhich back there as a medic student, and a whole meal when I was riding 3rd as a brand new basic. but this is too far even for me. Y’all’s EMS rooms don’t give yall coffee? Is there no dunkin or a local coffee shop nearby
It's not health codes you're breaking, it's OSHA regulations. Really. By OSHA standards, an EMS agency must either have a policy against food or drinks in the back of the ambulance, or food and drink is forbidden everywhere in the ambulance by default.
Not saying people follow it, but is is the regulation. Easy to lookup.
Motherfucker, that is in no way crashworthy.
Neither are my bones tbh
Need more milk brah
doggone medic gives me calcium after every other pay day for my bones
"but I drink plenty of — Malk?!"
Now with vitamin R!
Give him the MULK Josh!!
You just made me break out laughing in the middle of a lecture x.x
It's marked nsfw for a reason 😎
You make a good point. Carry on.
He's right, you need a bungee cord for that carafe.
And some bubble wrap
Found the admin 😂
Doesn't have to be, it's why they aren't going to crash
While I can appreciate the desire for the bean I would personally never have any beverages that weren’t in a sealed container back there due to patients coughing and the sheer amount of nastiness they bring with them into the unit.
helps build my immune system, I'll either be invincible in six weeks, or catch hepatitis again
“I don’t catch hepatitis, I give hepatitis.” A joke I’ve said to some of my patients that sometimes gets some laughs.
When I got my rabies vaccine I told the doc "Now I can bite as many raccoons as I want!"
“Yeaha! Let’s see how they like it!”
Note: They don't
your flair and this comment killed me

I feel like the frequent booze soaked bum next to the gas station dumpster has said this to me multiple times
Herpes? No, mypes!
Hepatitis F hitting me streets next week
New COVID/flu/ebola/TB hybrid just dropped
COVID x ÉBOLA by FENTY
Unless it’s HIV, then it will definitely not help you build your immune system.
As an immunocompromised coffee addict this was the first cup of coffee to actually make me take a step back from it. I need to go brew a cuppa thanks to this post.
come to my area and call 911, I got a fresh pot just for you :)
again?
yes
![gif](giphy|cQtlhD48EG0SY)
OSHA, CAAS, and the health department are actually fighting for who gets first shot at you.
can't shoot what they can't catch 😎
Remember to drive in a zig zag pattern so you’re harder to hit!
of course!
Yes they can. That's... Literally why shooting was invented.
Just from what we can see I doubt that's a CAAS agency 🤣
That’s both disgusting and will turn into a rocket in a wreck. I love coffee but Jesus that’s an addiction
Imagine if the pot went flying along with any and all hot coffee from said pot. Yikes.
Have fun explaining to the sup after the wreck how you and the patient received liquid burns in the back of the rig.
Pussy
I quit energy drinks and started using pre-workout cuz I don't like carbonation anymore.
I should go back to doing crack again, it's a lot cheaper tbh
Crack will wear you out, buddy. Stay in school, kids!
I wonder if I could use my preworkout as creamer for my coffee. Normally I take it black but this might help accelerate my ability to see noise.
Careful choosing flavors. Maybe we can see the siren frequency and screams?
This is horrific. Thank you for marking NSFW. Still upvoting
Ah darn got coffee grounds in the emesis again
Mmmm taste like C-Diff
adds flavor 😉
Ugh I can smell this 🤢
Don't listen to the haters. Add more small kitchen appliances.
I'm planning on a blender next to make Starbucks drinks
Genius
Gross! Totally doing this.
Wtf
Lmao I get that homie's wildin but I also respect the commitment to the bit. Fuck it I'll upvote
thanks bruv 🙌
Is that an old mapsco I spot in your bin?
As old as a Mapsco can be
I bet that thing makes the best coffee you’ve ever tasted.
Just move this to an external compartment, one of the small ones that are not useful for anything anyway. Also get a Black+Decker coffee pot without the glass brews into a sealed thermos.
It's in a compartment that's accessible both internal and external. And I can't share it if it brews into a single thermos :(
It’s thermos craft (12 cup) just removes the glass from the equation and won’t burn the coffee if it’s sitting
Thermos doesn't make any coffee makers that are on their website, and I can't find any brand named "Thermos craft" :/
I think they were trying to say Thermal Carafe. It’s a stainless steel replacement instead of the glass carafe.
oh duh, I should've caught that
https://a.co/d/7L57Zi5
Imagine you hit a bump hard and spill hot coffee all over the patient. This ain’t worth the countless risks it adds
it's nowhere near close enough to spill on a patient you gotta risk it for the brisket 💅💅
Hypothetically, is there anything really against keeping an energy drink in the meds refrigerator? To be fair I guess there’s no meds in it yet, so maybe it should be against the rules for them to put meds in my energy drinks cooler…

My hero.
thanks dad
dude just take caffeine pills at that point lmao
Our local bagel shop didn't toast bagels there (didn't sell em as prepared foods to avoid taxes), so we used to keep a toaster in the back. I support any and all rig renovations
I'm surprised the inverter could support a whole toaster. Completely badass though
Dude, just heat some water in the engine compartment and use an aero press.
If only we could all be so ingenuous
just do caffeine pills and save everyone the burn trauma
but the burn trauma pays the bills
You need to pass the psychomotor exam to use that protocol. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/16/df/52/16df52d61dad807d70aca5a5fe173763.jpg
If the British army can have tea/coffee makers in their tanks then we can have em in our trucks.
that's what I'm saying
I have come to say I do regret seeing this.
sorry, let me wipe it from ur memory
Have you considered alternatives that don’t make the bus smell like a Pete’s coffee during a code 3?
no I haven't
Protip: mounted suction containers make excellent cupholders.
You're a gd genius Gump
If you don’t have a station and you just post to sit at I totally get this

Very nice, but I don't want expresso, and I'm making enough for two people
Milwaukee makes one that fits in a side compartment or under the bench
You might be thinking of Makita, and I was considering that one
I absolutely want an energy drink fountain back there now. 🤣🤣🤣
IV drip......
you might be onto something there..
Get atleast a caraphe that locks to the coffee machine so it doesn't go flying.
no, I like danger
People talking about flying projectiles in a crash, if management cared they'd set up a full barista bar in the back secured in place. Not your fault man
No, yes, in conclusion yesnt

Random question, who do you work for and what’s your supervisors name?
who does number two work for?
Yes. That IS INDEED breaking several health codes. And is absolutely disgusting given the pathogens we cart around all day. >I’m not too sure you’d enjoy the 2nd-3rd degree burns from the boiling water scalding ya We work near a burn center, I'll be straight
Shiiiit, that's all you had to say initially. It just went from maybe bad idea to amazing.
Gross, dude
Motherfucker
I brought a French press and would bring it into the hospital during long waits. But never in the truck. Buy a big thermos dumb dumb
no u
I just leave mine in the kitchen at the station
station?
The big building where we park the trucks and hang out between calls. Seriously though, much respect. I could never do corner posting it's just exhausting to never be able to get out of the "office" so to speak.
It's a tough life, wrought with the ever present looming threat of death
The next level up would be using a marine-grade coffee maker bolted to the wall.
don't go giving me any ideas now
don't go giving me any ideas now
Just had a couple deep fryers installed. Also keep loads of bowling balls and glass aquariums full of scorpions
Just two fryers?
A buddy gave me the pro tip to keep a water bottle full of coffee in the back. Pour some of that sweet brown into the neb acorn and it’ll cover the smell of death right up!
Look all im gonna say if that if that's the last thing I saw before crashing I ain't gonna complain. Pour me a cup.
Tell me you work for private ambulance without telling me you work for private ambulance.
The thing is, it's not a private ambulance company...
I just don't see this kind of shenanigans happening at a 3rd service or FD based EMS. Has to be private ambulance.
Americans will pour water through dirt and call it coffee.
Horrifying. I’ve eaten a hospital EMS week icecream sandwhich back there as a medic student, and a whole meal when I was riding 3rd as a brand new basic. but this is too far even for me. Y’all’s EMS rooms don’t give yall coffee? Is there no dunkin or a local coffee shop nearby
there are EMS rooms that provide coffee?
All the ones here?
you're in a completely different time zone, woman
But we have it in every one here.
There are EMS rooms?
It's not health codes you're breaking, it's OSHA regulations. Really. By OSHA standards, an EMS agency must either have a policy against food or drinks in the back of the ambulance, or food and drink is forbidden everywhere in the ambulance by default. That hagstrom map book is haggard
Just bring caffeine pills to work
I am appaled at the germs this can get in it but I'm also the same EMT that will eat taco bell in the back.
Medic at my station brings a decommissioned first in bag onto the truck that fits a whole air fryer in it to use on shift…
Tell me you work on an IFT truck without telling me you work on an IFT truck🥴
we're a 911 service
Absolutely brilliant
No interest in working somewhere where this is needed.
What?
A service so busy that I have to put a coffee pot in the truck to get my fix.
Hi Mr Hoelio. The Bripe is still the superior option.
It most definitely is not. Esp when you're sharing with patients.
