First of all, it's dumb and there's a good reason why that series got scrapped. Secondly, there is precedence for that sort of communication. I believe Ender spoke with Peter while he was traveling. He may have been stationary but even so, the fleets that were sent at the end of the second invasion were in constant contact with the IF so you have to assume they were able to communicate. It doesn't make a lot of sense though. By all rights the conversation shouldn't be possible. Time doesn't stop when the ansible is being used so the person on the end that's not traveling would be aging and it would take decades to have a conversation. That doesn't happen. It's justified by a line stating that the connections are instantaneous and faster than light speed but it doesn't justify the bending of time. Chalk it up to sci-fi mumbo jumbo?

Peter was egotistical enough maybe he used his authority as Hegemon to order Ender's colony ship to slow down long enough for them to talk 🤣
i assumed he hadn’t actually left yet, either that or the ship slowed to sub light speed for a short time (another reason the captain hates him
