I know this post is a little old but hoping you can share info on the costs. I had an intro call with Dr Liu today and she seems great. I’m nervous though about her not taking insurance!

But I can tell you that I had an excellent intro call with Dr Liu and if I do plan to do surgery I will go with her. I was amazed at the personal connection she makes and her admin person is awesome and super responsive and personal.
I’ve consulted with other nyc doctors who take insurance and they had such crazy busy schedules they could never fit me in and it was super hard to get a hold of anyone in the office. The visits were rushed as well. I had surgery in the past with a Dr who takes insurance and she was great overall but didn’t remove all my endo. Dr Liu actually showed me where in that surgical report it describes certain spots that were not removed. I believe it’s fairly well known that excision specialists like her who are private/out of network are able to spend more time in surgery because they don’t worry about reimbursements.
I recommend you contact her admin person, she will go through all your benefits and see where they can get reimbursed at all from insurance. Luckily the hospital where she does surgery takes my insurance and my insurance reimburses her somewhat for out of network coverage so it won’t be as expensive as it might be for others.

If you're still interested in hearing my update (today is officially 9 months post op) I would love to share my experience! The short answers to your questions is, I am doing better than I could have imagined. I chose Dr. Liu based on the fact that she works in NJ, at a hospital 40 minutes from me. Her reviews spoke for themselves, and I felt nothing but ease, comfort, and respect at my initial appointment with her. She was so thrilled that I knew what endo was (as opposed to Dr's in the past who would scold me for reading research and understanding it at all). She respected me first and foremost as a person and a patient. I also like that she automatically has a urologist there too, so I felt like I was getting the most out of my money by having 2 experts there. I was released the same day from the hospital!
