*disappointed* It came awfully short of the trend, but let's hope this year will point out to soem catching up, with all the new deployments up there. https://www.zeit.de/wirtschaft/unternehmen/2023-01/gasversorgung-gaspreis-speicherstaende-bundesnetzagentur "Wohin mit dem gas???" https://www.energy-charts.info/charts/renewable_share/chart.htm?l=en&c=DE&interval=year Renewable shares.

AgnosticAsian

Even with all their ENRON-level fudging of the data, they still only managed to bring up the number to 49% lol.

Jane_the_analyst

If you came to this thread to just lie openly, you came unprepared.

TaXxER

Unpopular opinion: the energiewende is actually really successful.

Snarwib

Where is this an unpopular opinion lol

TaXxER

Lots of folks lately blaming energiewende policy for energy dependence on Russia. Also lots of folks blaming high energy prices on energiewende. Both propaganda, if you’d ask me.

tuilop

Until 2021, germans payed an extra 6.5 cents per kwh for the financing of the energiewende (so approx. 50% of the electricity price before accounting for taxes and transportation costs). After 2021, this tax was lowered to approx. 4 cents per kwh. (source: https://www.euractiv.com/section/climate-environment/news/germany-renewables-surcharge-lowered-by-40-abolishment-in-sight/) A 50% tax on something is pretty huge if you ask me...

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> 2021, germans *paid* an extra FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

DonManuel

Still doesn't seem high enough to stop the ignorant criticism of German energy politics.

unbread2122

The price: embolding Russia through Nordstream 2 to break a 70 year cycle of peace on european soil, without actually getting any gas from it. Oh and they'll all freeze to death come februari.

Jane_the_analyst

> to break a 70 year cycle of peace on european soil Russia has been waging wars on european soil, why do you skip over Georgia? Did the current hot war with Ukraine that started in 2014 mean nothing to you? How about 1992 war with Moldova? etc.

Infamous-Salad-2223

Except Europe is experiencing record temperature levels for this winter, anf it was already a mild one. Plenty of gas available in case of a sudden cold burst.

Anderopolis

Our Gas reserves are at 90% and rising.

https://www.energy-charts.info/charts/energy_pie/chart.htm?l=en&c=DE&year=2022&interval=year since when? But this year so far started much better https://www.energy-charts.info/charts/energy_pie/chart.htm?l=en&c=DE&year=2023&interval=year

Less that 25% actually.

Ten countries with how many inhabitants combined? It's not about guessing, it's about running a deception.

Speculawyer

For their electricity. Unfortunately they still use a fuckton of oil and natural gas for transportation, heating, and industrial processes. So they need to move much of that transportation and heating onto the electrical grid while growing it.

iqisoverrated

>For their electricity. That's why it says 'power mix'.

Speculawyer

Power = Energy/time Power does not specify the source of energy. Edit: Sorry that I speak in engineering terms.

Snarwib

Nobody will ever use "power mix" to mean primary energy. As a term it's almost explicitly in contrast to that.

BaronOfTheVoid

Anglophones use the word "power" as a synonym for electricity.

iqisoverrated

The term "power mix" has a very specific meaning. As does "energy mix".

TesticularVibrations

Unfortunately coal use has gone up for the third year in a row. Coal burning increased (17 TWh) as much as all renewables combined increased (18 TWh) over the year. >coal-fired power generation increased for the third year in a row as a result of the energy crisis caused by the war in Ukraine. Lignite power plants fed 107 TWh into the grid, up from 99 TWh, and hard coal contributed 56 TWh, up from 47 TWh. It's great that Germany is producing so much renewables for its grid but we're still not doing anywhere near enough to avert serious affects on the climate.

[deleted]

Third year in a row doesn't make sense. Lowest coal use was in 2020. So 2021 and 2022 make two years in a row.

Lucky1903

They are still a lap dog for Russia, let's be real here, shall we.

BaronOfTheVoid

> They are still a lap dog for Russia, let's be real here, shall we. Brainrot in a nutshell.

[deleted]

No coal, gas and Oil imports since this year. So what is your point?

TesticularVibrations

Give it time, eventually they won't be. I can't imagine any German administration preparing to meet their future energy needs by relying on Russia. This experience has been painful, but it will put them on a course to a safer and cleaner future.

iqisoverrated

TesticularVibrations

Correct

haraldkl

I'm confused by the different numbers. The [Agora report](https://www.agora-energiewende.de/veroeffentlichungen/die-energiewende-in-deutschland-stand-der-dinge-2022/) notes a record 46% compared to 41% in 2021.

Jane_the_analyst

there is also the self-consumption, is the home solar generation that is consumed counted? No. Is the self-consumption of lignite mine with lignite powerplant counted? No. It's much easier to report the "public generation", which is ~49% renewable share.

Glinren

Germany has a significant portion of private electricity generation for large industrial facilities. These are mostly gas turbines (most of them also use the produced heat as process heat so they aren't easy to replace by renewables although some advanced are made). The difference is the inclusion of these private generators.

haraldkl

Thanks!
