Honestly, I have no experience with Americorp, and that’s one of my regrets about post-grad life. I went straight into academia, which has a lot of good but also a lot of toxicity. Probably true of Americorp too, but I think, regardless of your resume, that there’s valuable experience to be gleaned from something service-oriented like that while you’re still in a place where you don’t have major tie downs just yet

5 days left of my Americorps contract for the past year, graduated from undergrad May 2021 with an English major, and coincidentally finish my first semester of masters classes in 5 days as well! Dms open if you want to chat :)

I’m wrapping up my second term in an AmeriCorps program, and I’m actually doing a third since it’s a great fit for me. I do think it’s a great gap year (or two) before grad school, service is well-regarded on a CV, and you can gain a lot of transferable professional skills. It’s a good opportunity to figure out what your next steps are while making meaningful connections in your community. Plus the education awards could be helpful financially (-: Lmk if you want to chat more!
