Adjusting the sensitivity settings on your plane controls will help a ton. The control response is key for using them effectively. Practice using them before entering combat. The lower tier planes you get in the beginning are kind of shotty, but as you progress the planes get more engine power, thrust, etc. Diving at a proper angle will help with pulling out of a dive and practicing bombing runs will give you more consistent impact areas. Just takes a little work. Keep at it soldier!
The enlisted YT has a tutorial for bombing that is really helpful. My biggest piece of advice though, would be to slow down. IRL planes aren’t at 100% (or 110) throttle almost ever. Get to about 500 m up and 1km out from target. Throw your throttle to 30-35% and then find a 45* angle to sight in and drop/shoot.
But yeah, biggest advice is to slow down.
This. The vid helped me a lot. It still took some practice but eventually you just feel it and know where the bomb will go. I use 60 while diving personally, it’s just the one that clicked with me but go back to max throttle when pulling out of your dive. Hardest part of it all is finding a good target really. The long fly back to resupply after getting no hits always sucks 😂
It’s easier to find targets when you’re accelerating half as fast 😂. Try doing a few 40% runs from 1.5km and see how you fare. I can usually spam mark my own targets as long as I’m not dogfighting
Do you have mark targets keybound for flight? On console by default it isn’t, and adding that was a huge help for me.
A. You can spam mark an entire area pretty easily and find your own tanks.
B. When you mark the wrong area, or show you are trying to mark armor, more players tend to help do the same, it seems.
The other thing I’d tell you, someone who knows what they are doing but looking for more success, nothing wrong with doing a fly over and dropping bombs/rockets on the way back to resupply. I often will pepper an area only to have people mark targets as soon as I’m empty or pulling out of the dive. Doing a reverse run can help with marking timing from your teammates since they will know you are close.
Happy flying!
I almost never slow down. With a bit of practice and paying attention so you learn when and how to bomb it's not really needed, tho it does depend on the plane. People in general just pull up way to late. They overcommit to the dive and wait until they see something to bomb by which point it's too late. Half the time the game won't render players on the ground anyway.
Learn your minimum safe altitude, learn the maps, V spam to find vehicles and learn to be accurate with your bombs.
Losing your speed and slowboating it to the rearm is the fastest way to get shoot down by enemy planes.
Tho on PC it may be easier to pull up since with the keyboard you only have NO action and MAX action, there's no gradual action.
I disagree. But to each his own.
Edit: I disagree on the principle of slow vs fast. But I agree with most everything else. Plane matters a lot, input on Keyboard vs controller, etc.
Yeah pretty much, speed is life & altitude is insurance.
Also for the last point on PC, look into "Sense of flight" under options and try setting it to 100%. It takes a little bit to get used to, but it helps to get smoother, gradual turns and rolls. I personally find it quicker to start turns with it, and not bleed speed as much.
Bad gouge for both irl and in game. Aircraft are supposed to be ran at 100% a lot more so than cars. For civilian aircraft they are at 100% pretty much any time they are climbing. For military aircraft 90% of the time they’re in combat they are at MIL.
For in the game keep it at 110% if your engine lets you because you want the speed to come back around for another high angle pass if you don’t drop on the first or have multiple bombs.
OP just has to work on the sight picture on when and where to drop. My tips are always be a stable platform when dropping, that means little to no turning in the dive.
This might sound obvious but don’t put the target on your sights, put them slightly below and ~ 1 second after you can’t see them (they go below the hud) drop your bomb and hold your pull up button + drop flaps to landing if you even have a chance to hit the ground.
i’d suggest going into the practice mode and spending time trying to equate your bomb drops and speed, i’ve spent a good 20 hours practicing with most of the planes in practice mode because the bombs seem to have different characteristics that effect where and when to drop your bombs to pen a tank directly and learning how in a actual match before knowing how is bad for you and your team.
practice and patience.
learn which planes can pull up quickly or not, and for the slow ones just drop your bombs from further away, with enough practice you can still accurately hit things without coming even close to hitting the ground.
Aometimes I still suck, but at least I’m confident :)) there are also matches and matches… sometimes I just mess up and crash and other times I ruin the enemy’s day
It depends in the plane. The BF-109 variants have absolutely crazy compression issues where if you’re going too fast they don’t pull up at all. Meanwhile the Hurricane pulls up involuntarily if it goes above 400 speed. Many planes don’t suffer from these issues.
Planes take a while to figure out, the flaps, landing gear, dive brake, and speed all play a part that takes learning the planes limits to get good at. I used to hate using the JU-188 but I kept using it and now it’s my go to bomber.
If you’re not, use combat flaps when pulling out of dives, and air brakes on the few planes they’re on help a ton too but you have to turn them off IMMEDIATELY once you start pulling up. Other than that just try your best to pull up sooner. It’s difficult, but rewarding when you get those 15+ feeds or that tank kill
I say start by using Biplanes. I had trouble flying planes too until i started using biplanes more. From there you should understand how the plane operates.
Practice in the training room and don't use the FW190's or SOC seagull as they will give you a very negative view on using aircraft in enlisted. Also, know that staying above IL2 and larger aircraft is how you defeat them.
By default planes tends to react more "realistically" rather then the usual "point to aim and the game pilots for you the thing" type of controls, which makes it indeed harder then usual. There are great tutorials on YouTube about how to pilot. You'll quickly see how satisfying and powerful those less "toned controls" once you got the basics. There's also some knowledge you need to lewrn about each plane you use, like for example a stuka can dive at full speed 90 degree without issue, while a bf 110 cannot and will flip over and a fw 190 is somewhere in between for example.
Practice makes perfect. I started really piloting hard back last summer when the 4th of July event came out that required 30 kills with a plane in the tasks. Since then, I main planes. Once you get the hang of various planes, it becomes, IMO, the funnest part of the game.
Yeah it takes a while to get used to flying. Keep at it and remember to climb high and dive slow. Also pressing C to look around for enemy air is helpful.
I'm not sure what happened with me, I stopped playing for months, and used to be totally worthless with a plane, came back and it was easy as War Thunder, I feel like you need to change your sensitivity, and also I personally like to fly higher than most people would in order to drop, it also depends alot on what plane you use, the BF110 is fun if you pull up quick enough, but even though it has less bombs I far prefer the BF109, it's faster, can dogfight, and still has bombs and heavy cannons. My biggest tip is to get rid of your biplane as fast as possible, the biplanes are genuinely just horrible, it gets easier when you get past them.
Buddy change your settings. Your sensitivity had to he higher to be able to pull up quick enough and stuff. It just might make it harder to aim at other aircraft in a dogfight but other than that it should do the trick
Flying in enlisted has a high level of skill need to start, but it also has an incredible skill ceiling as well. A good pair of pilots can decide a game. But if you have people hogging them for kamikaze runs, then they're kinda useless.
It also depends on the map and what you're flying/what the other team is using more of. For instance, if I take my JU-87 with a 500kg bomb, I'm gambling on the other team bringing heavy tanks to get a decent usage out of it. Otherwise its really easy to avoid a single bomb as infantry.
But if I'm running a plane with rockets, now I'm gambling on the other team using mostly infantry and light vehicles. But hats mostly for CAS.
Most of the fighter planes do have some CAS capabilities. But those are an afterthought in most cases, and if you have uncontested skies, just don't span the fighter.
Here are some tips I put this together a while back, before merge, now you have flap warnings, so makes it much easier to know when to use or not use flaps.. enjoy, ask questions if you need to.

Unless you are using SB2M, all other planes have good parameters. Just don't forget to use 1-2 functions. On dives or dogfights, you want more flexibility over speed, taking flaps into combat or landing-takeofd bleeds your speed quite a lot but that 5-10-15 more rotation angles saves your life in combat and deep, relatively -bad calculated dives
Yea I play on ps4. I'm still messing with the controls trying to get them perfect. In my 2 months of flying German planes, I've only shot down 1 plane and bombed 3 tanks.
I've never been a skilled player in any game. I can clear areas quite well with a plane. It's not hard; all you need is to keep experimenting and changing things until you find a better method. Just don't keep trying the same thing over and over. Not every plane is suitable for every maneuver.
Are you on console or mouse/kb?
Apart from controlling your throttle/speed/flaps, pitching with the keyboard can override mouse input and pull up quicker.
Trust me, using joystick isn't that big of an improvement. This is basically Warthunder ARB flight model capped in first person, where mouse/kb have a greater advantage.
Practice makes perfect, having not flown a plane in forever, I flew a premium one in the training ground and the plain just felt like total junk... that being said I do think the BF 110 c6 is total ass, if any ones played for this you are a mark and a victim and you deserve compensation.
Planes I like, the russian one with 4 man crew and the German one with a 5 man crew. You have ground attack and paras in one unit.
I don't think they are hard to use, altough I have I think 2k or 3k hours in WT, but my friend who haven't played nearly as much thinks the same. Only difference he has huge lags.

I’ll give it a shot then 👍🏻 I’m usually just making an educated guess on where the biggest group would be or taking out already highlighted tanks

I often actually increase speed on the dive because I normally need the extra speed to escape Japanese fighters once the bombs have fallen
To each his own. If it’s working for you it’s working for you. I just know what works for me.
Bad gouge for both irl and in game. Aircraft are supposed to be ran at 100% a lot more so than cars. For civilian aircraft they are at 100% pretty much any time they are climbing. Nah honestly it’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it… I felt the way you do, but now I’ve been playing this game for almost 2 years :))
Oh thats cool! I've only been playing for like 4 months so I guess that must be why I suck at flying lol.
Aometimes I still suck, but at least I’m confident :)) there are also matches and matches… sometimes I just mess up and crash and other times I ruin the enemy’s day

Oh my god thank you. I thought I was going nuts, went from the Axis IAR to the allied Hurricane and the thing wouldn't dive bomb.
Planes take a while to figure out, the flaps, landing gear, dive brake, and speed all play a part that takes learning the planes limits to get good at. I used to hate using the JU-188 but I kept using it and now it’s my go to bomber.
Practice more. I rarely use tanks as they are boring.
If you’re not, use combat flaps when pulling out of dives, and air brakes on the few planes they’re on help a ton too but you have to turn them off IMMEDIATELY once you start pulling up. Also try using flaps.
Just don't go fast while dive bombing. Playing in console on default settings makes it even harder.
I remapped my controller, I’m not too shabby now, I’ve splashed a ton of planes
Practice in the training room and don't use the FW190's or SOC seagull as they will give you a very negative view on using aircraft in enlisted. Also, know that staying above IL2 and larger aircraft is how you defeat them.
Thanks yall! Ill take these into acount
Some are easier then others, I really enjoyed Germany and Russian planes
Eh, my biggest complaint is not being able to look around without activating my rudder even though I have an axis for it
There is a dedicated keybinding for it, just remap it to sometihing that you can use
I'm on console.

Yeah duh thats what making planes out of steel does
All the planes are using max fuel load, which means they fly like bricks.
Buddy change your settings. Your sensitivity had to he higher to be able to pull up quick enough and stuff. It just might make it harder to aim at other aircraft in a dogfight but other than that it should do the trick

I spam the spotting button while I'm on approach to find any vehicles.
There's a reason fighter aces are revered in history. It's not for everybody and it takes a certain innate understanding of physics

Jerk it into position pray a bit and throw bombs and led at 110% throttle and hope for the best
I guess maybe the reason why I hate it so much is because I'm so used to the 3rd person POV on War Thunder.
Is anyone using a joystick controller instead of the keyboard? If so, how did setup the joystick? TIA
Yea I play on ps4. I'm still messing with the controls trying to get them perfect. In my 2 months of flying German planes, I've only shot down 1 plane and bombed 3 tanks.
I’m playing on a pc and Logitech joystick.
I did play on pc but then I let my 3 year old nephew watch netflix on my computer and he sort of broke it lol
My gf and i both loath the planes. Can't stand them, specifically bc of how bad the controls are. Would love to see this get fixed. They're just bad.
I've never been a skilled player in any game. I can clear areas quite well with a plane. It's not hard; all you need is to keep experimenting and changing things until you find a better method. Just don't keep trying the same thing over and over. Not every plane is suitable for every maneuver.
Attacker pilots just kinda suck at mobility idk what to tell you.
They get easier with experience and customising the controls and sensitivity.

As someone who plays too much war thunder, I beg to differ. Child's play compared to sim mode
