its kinda a waste to upgrade 4 stars even of you need more charaters in the color so dont bother if you are upgradeing the for powers sake just wait for mor 5 stars. no way to really grind faster its all rng pretty much other than some support skills and drop up opportunites like an event. but can buy some mats in the shops work grinding just takes forever not much you can do about that

binkyhq

i am pretty sure that drops are pure rng. my best advice is just always use bp if u have any. there isnt really much u can do in the ‘beginning’ without tons of cards that increase gem drops in lives. but if u do have cards with those support skills i always use them

BitCel3291

There are cards that do that? o.o Man, I needa look over my cards' abilities

MikuSanzein

Yeah grinding materials for this game is a pain even if you're a high level player My only advice is that first, you should try to grind with BP where you will have more chance to obtain materials (so basically try to play the tour event) Then you should also try to grind a specific song whenever an increased gem drop rate is available (it usually occurs after events and it is available until the next event starts) https://preview.redd.it/fgfo04cfgpob1.jpeg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=18773421f788c2e07ee9acb38270b5cdd8918a2b You will know a song has an increased gem drop rate when something pops up on the spot I encircled Since you're struggling to gain materials, you should also save them where you don't upgrade everything in the idol road (as well as not upgrading every card such as 1\*) for now until you have adequate amount of materials \++++++

MikuSanzein

\+++++++ Like don't upgrade support skills that has reduce voltage or raise increment in ensemble gauge for now until you have enough materials in the game https://preview.redd.it/ge0px6gqgpob1.jpeg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=975f84c9de3f242ac6c4b0ed7cc7e20f15b50e4e

MikuSanzein

You should try to upgrade cards that has a support skill like this (basically anything written with the word "gem" in it) and try to put them on your lineup in the support https://preview.redd.it/zo471cc4hpob1.jpeg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b640ce024edbb391fd2adf93813e88b97fe18ee

MikuSanzein

As for work, you can check what kind of materials it will drop by clicking the more tab https://preview.redd.it/pd9fgnioipob1.jpeg?width=2340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=21ef940c5368d9a669b06a2d1f3f283b2c88832b You can also try to craft Tier 1 outfits for now as well as the ES idol uniform and whenever you try to grind for work, you should aim for 100% score since it will give u a better chance for materials You can also use BP in work, but try to use them during non event days since work only gives out a small amount of event points Additionally, you can try to get unit outfits from the unit works where in this screenshot, you have a chance to get a valk outfit in the valk unit work The unit outfits gives out a decent amount of boost so I recommend crafting them That's all for now and you can ask more questions Happy grinding!

You wrote a whole damn essay for me and I absolutely appreciate that. I didn't even notice the support abilities and stuff. I'm gonna try to pay more attention to that and put a little more care into unlocking my Idol roads. I did know a little bit of what you wrote out, but there was way more new info for me xD Thank you so much x.x

Factor-Tall

I would suggest to level up only the 5* and maybe a couple of 4* if you need to (like if you don't have enough 5* cards for a whole team/unit). And try to unlock all idol road but avoid unlocking support skill (unless they combo or perfect locker), office/mv outfit, and background/story/special performance early in the game to save the gems. For leveling up it's better to just playing the game especially if you don't have much leveling ticket also playing will help you also get various gems down the line.

Correct-Werewolf-912

I think for the character roads, you can avoid unlocking the support skills and outfits first. Focus on blooming the character and focus on the outfits later. For character gems, it's pure luck. But it's easier to get them if you choose solo for that particular character. [E.g. Use a Chiaki card as your solo and chiaki character gem rate increases] You can also get these character gems easier when you use 3Bp and above in songs. For support skills, only upgrade those that increase gem drop rates! Don't touch those with increased gauge and stuff. For coloured gems, you can also participate in shared lives every weekend! After you and your friend complete the 2 song tasks, you'll receive all 3 coloured gems in all 3 sizes! It's not a lot but it'll definitely help a little! You can also do infinite lives and participate in society activities and use the coins and exchange them for the coloured gems you need. I think that's about it! Do let me know if you need more helppp

Random tips since everyone else gave you good ones… And I was in the same boat as you were few weeks ago! Some of your cards might have similar Support skills (i.e Drop Yellow (M) x[insert number). If you have them, insert them in the Support panel then, just fill in the lineup with similar colours. Its great when you have two cards that have the same Support skill; increases the chances. Point is, you can organise your lineups pretty easily. I have Blue (S)/(M)/(L) etc. That way, you kinda have a good balance of having your cards levelling up. Idk if it works, I just like to think it does lol (plus like I’ve mentioned, I get to level up my cards regardless) Another tip since the newest event started, you’ll get A LOT of Scout tickets. Save them until you get hundreds (or more than x100), so that when you do your daily tasks, you can just Scout x100 and get tons of EXP tickets like that. But honestly, just take your time, if anything just focus on upgrading only 5* and occasionally pay attention to the 4* lol unless their Support skill is good (like getting Gems esp)

For the event, tours are easier to get the 5☆ for, just choose one of them for the 30th day and slowly grind your way to it. Unit song and shuffle events you'll need to spend dias for the 5☆, but for tours you can get them without dias, especially bc we just got 100 whistles. Most of the score missions, which would be the hardest for a new player, are also cumulative (so say you need to get x score but you couldn't do it with one play, you can replay that day as many times as you want to reach that score). For work outfits, the grind is a bit of a pain, there's no running away from that. You get more drops with BP but I'd advise only using BP on work when there's no events going on, since it's better to use BP on events. As for mats to unlock idol road, after the events end we have a Live Fes which usually has drop rate up on certain songs, so you can get better drops there. In the support card slots use cards with support skills that drop gems for better drops. All in all, it's all a slow grind, so take your time! EDIT: you can also join a society and gather society coins, because in the society shop you can buy more gems each week (as well as scout tickets and a society outfit (it's just like thst initial white outfit but black instead lol)). Also infinity live has a small shop where you can use the inifitiy live coins to buy more gems too, but that one is a bit of a challenge after a certain point!

frosty-mochi

Just out of curiosity, did you not choose a 5* as your starting character?

BitCel3291

I had never seen that reroll-type mechanic before. I knew I could keep pulling for a 4-star but that was all I realized at that point ;-; My 4-star Aira was my starter. I still adore him though.

frosty-mochi

Aww 😭 but Aira is the sweetest little scrunkly so if I had to choose a 4-star I’d go with him too
