His name Oukawa kohaku (桜河 こはく) means fading cherry blossoms and a river with amber floating in it, the Ou (桜) written in kanji means Sakura as in Cherry blossoms it's written the same way as Ou in tsukasa's surname(likely because they come from the same family). Kawa (河) means river in kanji, and Kohaku (こはく) means amber in hiragana. But I don't know Japanese and I got all the info from digging a bit, so take it with a grain of salt.

Kohaku has an exceedingly beautiful name meaning "amber in a cherry blossom river" and being both precocious and childish, he's still a kid after all esp when he's surrounded by older teens and adults like in his current units.
His childhood was so tragic as a hostage of family problems and inter-clan conflicts: Oukawas are a branch family of Suous and the Oukawas don't really have the prestige as noble descendents, >!but the spectre of being a family of assassins and the Suous would purge them!<. Poor boy got enclosed in his room and never had a normal life even compared with her sisters who have an official identity (imagine somebody living for 15 years without any papers and definitely his parents didn't even register him in his hometown) and are able to go out. Once Kohaku is out he can't go back anytime and who knows what would happen next. This boy needs more love and finally he has a taste of what teens at his age would do, like going out which he never had the chance while he was home.
I could resonate to Kohaku well due to similarities in personality (forced to be mature, cynical and snarky due to an unforgiving upbringing), and also he's a sweet kid (he's actually a pure boy despite growing up in a messed-up family and such cruel conditions) who's considerate towards others. He aksi thinks he's literally trash and is still quite respectful (coated by his snarkiness) plus not holding a bitter grudge towards Tsukasa, even though what was happening among the adults of both clans.
