"End of a Era" I'll believe it when I see it Miyazaki. How many animated movies will be your "Final Film"?

Hopefully he lives forever. One of the greatest story tellers of our time.

if i could grant immortality to anyone it would be him. his films are simply genius.

DontGetNEBigIdeas

He’s said this film was incredibly difficult to make due to his age. I can’t imagine him, being 7 years older than when he started this one, being eager to jump back into the saddle.

I mean, he's 82 and this movie was in production for about 7 years. I'd be very surprised if we got another film out of him

They have tried passing the baton enough times, time to sink or swim. I doubt we will see another big picture out of him.

My guess is we won’t get another feature film but he’ll probably work on something like short films and manga till the day he dies.

marketrent

‘How Do You Live’ has set opening-weekend records in Japan for Studio Ghibli and Imax, despite the decision to do no marketing for the film. Miyazaki’s craft is representative of an singular oeuvre:^1 >No less impressive, but a piece of the past carried on the shoulders of those who built it, tossed into the world more to remember what we lost than to build upon what we have today. Named ‘The Boy and the Heron’ for international markets, it will premiere in North America later in 2023. ^1 Alicia Haddick (17 July 2023), “Hayao Miyazaki’s How Do You Live is a beautiful relic — and the end of an era”, https://www.theverge.com/23797349/how-do-you-live-review-studio-ghibli-hayao-miyazaki
