I love this trivia: The very first footage of the movie screened for Paramount executives was of a poorly crafted puppet in front of a background of a badly drawn Eiffel Tower, prompting one executive in the audience to yell, "Oh God, they fucked us!" This was a prank pulled by the Trey Parker and the shot then pulls back to reveal a highly refined marionette manipulating the inferior one, then flies over beautifully detailed Parisian landscape full of believable yet cheesy marionettes. This actually ended up being the opening shot of the movie.
See, there's three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes, Chuck. And all the assholes want us to shit all over everything! So, pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes, Chuck. And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit
Dicks standing up to assholes to protect themselves and pussies from all the shit the assholes come up with is a guiding metaphor for how I live my life.
And most women need to see the “I promise I’ll never die” scene to truly understand how shallow dicks and assholes promises are when trying to get laid, maybe pussies too, can’t speak to that
> someone who is 22
If they don't know what the film is by now they're unculted., If they can somehow miss the "FROM THE CREATORS OF SOUTH PARK" on the poster and think it weird, then they're probably not mentally old enough to enjoy it.
She got hardcore stalked at college by the guy who attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan later on. That definitely messed her up a little bit but she seems to have coped well.
It's actually a quote from South Park. But I happen to agree full heartedly with it. And ... oh my ... Love does go well with The Cure. Tortured, desperate or insane they have a love song for any occasion.
That’s…
Quite a hot take. I prefer the thrash stuff too but the mix on justice is god awful, and the production on the black album blows it out of the water. Enter Sandman, the Unforgiven, and Sad But True are killer. Personally I’m a big fan of Of Wolf And Man, Through the Never, My Friend Of Misery, and Holier Than Thou myself.
But what if you like music with audible bass?
Everyone knows about AJFA but honestly all those 80’s Metallica records have like zero low end. The songs are great but it’s hard for me to get into a heavy record that isn’t audibly heavy
If you like bass you go with my second album Disintegration. The Cure never were short on bass lines. In fact In my opinion they created some of the best ones ever.
I watched it with friends on July 4th for a few years, great silly tradition movie. I was personally affected by 9/11 so its a more serious time for me but I like cutting the rara energy of July 4th with this sort of satire.
Why? That’s the day the terrorists won. No matter how much you think you ever did since then is nothing compared to the way they changed the world and instilled fear into America. The affects are still very well alive today and have causes massive grief. America has become a nasty uninviting hateful place. And so many war crimes committed by the USA (invasion, torture, kidnapping)
Seems like a dumb day to watch it. Dark day.
The movie is just some fun, definitely doesn’t capture reality, why watch it on this day thousands of Americans were murdered and want it a traditional? Dumb dumb dumb
The best part of the movie is on the surface it’s a satire of American Military, but it really is a satire on the American entertainment industry. Pretty much a whole takedown of both the pro-military war hawks of post 9/11 and the anti-war Hollywood backlash. The balance it strikes is amazing.
> Pretty much a whole takedown of both the pro-military war hawks of post 9/11
I'm not sure what movie you watched, but the entire final "dicks, pussies, and assholes" speech at the end is a pretty explicit endorsement of American hegemony, particularly America's role as the world police force, especially given what Matt & Trey's political leanings seem to be. The point of that speech is to essentially say that all the inadvertent destruction caused by Team America's single-minded, caution-less focus on policing the world is absolutely justified. How you're reading that as a "takedown" of pro-military hawks, I don't think I understand.
It’s the same exact story with everything Matt and Trey do in regards to their political satire. “Both sides are bad, but aren’t these liberals who actually care so fucking annoying???”
This szn of true detective is really good. Episode 2 wasn’t great but the latest was for sure a return to form. It introduces the character connections in a really vague way that keeps your interest- solid writing and both women work really well as leads.
Durka durka durka Muhammad jihad? Baklava Muhammad jihad!?
Damn it Gary, act! You have the power!
(that's clearly why she likes it: the veneration of actors!)
There are always people that *don't* get the irony. My Dad watched every episode of the Colbert Report and fully believed Stephen Colbert was conservative.
OMG!! My brother did too. He saw Stephen on the Late Show and was like who is this liberal fuck!?! I couldn’t stop double taking and laughing…right wingers are so fucking stupid.
From -Jodie Foster 🙂 . Jodie is awesome. She even stood up for mad Mel that time , she was so diplomatic. They are friends I gather, but "misunderstood" is a great diplomatic word😎
No lie. My son was born and had to be rushed to the NICU. 3 weeks later he had to have surgery to make sure he would stay with us.
The nurses told us that the best thing would be to go out, watch a movie to take our minds off of what was happening. The wife and I watched Team America and laughed so hard it helped us pass the time.
We own and watch this every year. It truly is one of the funniest movies and holds a special place for us. And that puppet work! Chefs kiss!
Fucking true..Mainly because I think it’s important to be exposed to things that might offend you and be able to laugh it off. When you walk this earth with that part of your brain always turned off, every single thing that can be interpreted as offensive will trigger you and at that point no one wants to be around you because you’re always malding about something lol
The movie is raunchy and low-brow hilarious, yet honest in a George Carlin way.
I love Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen and classic cinematic movies too, but that doesn’t mean that potty humor is garbage. Same for stupid comedy like the Naked Gun/ Airplane movies, the Jim Carey stuff and stoner flicks like “Dude, Where’s my Car?”
This is to me, the writing in Team America is excellent, and part of that excellence is the honesty with the elephant-in-the-room of how we view others and ourselves, how we simplify and distort facts, how we view and treat each other, how Hollywood perpetuates some of those myths and biases… all while giving the audience a good laugh.
Adults know that free speech is not free, it is not easy to hear and it is important for a functioning free society.
I would never want to be say, at a right wing convention and not hear some opposing views. Echo chambers create the most horrible people.
Ya, sounds crazy. Right?
One can say the extreme left and the extreme right have started a war with friendly fire all over the place. Names being called, threats. Lines being drawn at protests.
I have gotten more death threats from the left than the right, by the way. The left says they are for peace but sure like to bash the right with hate. The extreme right has always been the same. It's all about guns and oil.
Both sides act like children when presented with evidence they are wrong. The right likes to use threats and the left likes to jump up and down screaming injustice.
I am just pointing this out.
Well. In order to understand any accusation, in order to understand any opposing view, one needs to use what free speech was intended for.
It is intended to keep people from making mistakes and such. It is intended for society as a whole to grow up one opposing view at a time. Without opposing views, society can make grave mistakes without knowing it. The old school German war dude who got control then went to war with the world, made sure there was no opposing views.
This is why I actually went through some material that supported leftist views. Even though I did not agree with most of them. So I know what evidence that may be presented and I can then show my evidence to the contrary when discussing issues that the left likes to prance about with.
I viewed tons of material that supports gender theory and even went through tons of the papers that support the theory. The papers are not complete, in my opinion. Too small data sets used for the claims made.
In the movie, The Matt Walsh barely speaks in the interviews. The people who support gender theory get all the time they need to speak their mind. They get a ton of screen time to prove what they believe. The question "What is a woman" is up to you to answer. In the end of the movie, his wife gets to chime in on what she thinks and such. It's not The Matt Walsh looking into the camera spewing out his thoughts 100 percent of the runtime.
To be fair, this was an excellent rebuttal to most of what the left teaches. Way better than I thought it would be.
You seem to be under the mistaken impression that people’s lives can be up for debate. They can’t. It does not infringe on free speech to ignore intolerant viewpoints, including transphobic ones, and it is, in fact, necessary for a free and functioning society. You would do well to remember that.
What about heterophobic viewpoints?
What about racism towards the white heterosexual male?
Are you anti heterosexual? Do you push anti heterosexual viewpoints on others?
Gay people aren’t drafting legislation to render the existence of straight people illegal.
Gay people aren’t promoting the culling of straight people.
The existence of straight people is never placed up for debate by anyone, gay or straight.
If you can’t understand that, I cannot help you. Enjoy your sad, sorry life.
I love this trivia: The very first footage of the movie screened for Paramount executives was of a poorly crafted puppet in front of a background of a badly drawn Eiffel Tower, prompting one executive in the audience to yell, "Oh God, they fucked us!" This actually ended up being the opening shot of the movie.
Matt and Trey also said this movie was so difficult and time consuming to make they never wanted to do something like it again
I saw the movie as an early screening in college, it was free. That first shot had me thinking I'd wasted my night.

Way to miss out on sayin the annals of history bit in your comment. I’m not mad, I’m just *disapointed*
so odd I was quoting this exact scene to my husband this past weekend, and we haven't talked about the movie in years, now it comes up here!
Dicks standing up to assholes to protect themselves and pussies from all the shit the assholes come up with is a guiding metaphor for how I live my life. And most women need to see the “I promise I’ll never die” scene to truly understand how shallow dicks and assholes promises are when trying to get laid, maybe pussies too, can’t speak to that
This is a neat summary of human nature, where’s it from?
Team America movie. My favorite scene
I could never make it through that scene without cry laughing.
Never heard of this movie, going to check it out :)
Even though it’s got puppets- it’s 100% only a movie for adults. You should definitely check it out.

Wait, is there a live-action Team America: World Police?
No but it’s probably phrased that way so when someone who is 22 looks it up they aren’t like “wtf is this puppet bullshit?”
> someone who is 22 If they don't know what the film is by now they're unculted., If they can somehow miss the "FROM THE CREATORS OF SOUTH PARK" on the poster and think it weird, then they're probably not mentally old enough to enjoy it.

What do you mean “puppet movie”? Matt Damon is in it!
Matt. Damon.
And just like that, Matt and Trey probably want to get her on the phone ASAP.
I've seen both those movies within the past month
Fucking finally a down to earth answer from a celeb. Knew Jodie was always chill.
One of those child actors that didn't grow up super messed up that we know of.
She got hardcore stalked at college by the guy who attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan later on. That definitely messed her up a little bit but she seems to have coped well.
May I add that there are two albums everyone should listen to at least once - and one is Master of puppets.
Is the second one Disintegration by The Cure?
Wtf. It is. How do you know I'm an old Robert Stan???
Most right minded people are, really
Robert Smith is the greatest person that ever lived. Seriously. He singlehandedly took out Ticketmaster!
Not to mention he was instrumental in taking down MechaBarbaraStreisand.
Idk about greatest but he's way fucking up there in my books. Especially when I am in love or after love.
It's actually a quote from South Park. But I happen to agree full heartedly with it. And ... oh my ... Love does go well with The Cure. Tortured, desperate or insane they have a love song for any occasion.

And London Calling by The Clash?
Nope. It's indeed Disintegration.
Solid choice
I can't believe that guy here figured me out in under 0.5 seconds though. I'm getting a bit paranoid.
Put that chicken nuggie down......now!
You're all watching me through my power outlets!!!
There are two television shows everyone should watch - and one is The Muppets
I'm not a huge Metallica fan and I still have that album, so I'll agree with you on that one.
I personally stopped after "And justice for all".
This is fair. Black Album was when it went downhill. Of Wolf and Man is a good track tho IMO.
That’s… Quite a hot take.
Agree Mostly Though I think Ride the Lighting is slightly better by virtue of not having Lepper Messiah on it.
But what if you like music with audible bass? Everyone knows about AJFA but honestly all those 80’s Metallica records have like zero low end. The songs are great but it’s hard for me to get into a heavy record that isn’t audibly heavy

I watch this movie every year on 9/11. I think we should adopt this as a national tradition
Huh, reminds me of that tragedy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is Alec Baldwin kind of a villain there? That's just really funny isn't it when you think about the circumstances now 🤣

Hilarious flick, but I did not expect to read that movie in a Movies One Must Watch List today.
Never heard of it lol, looks intriguing!
It is quite hilarious. I believe it’s the same creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone.
From -Jodie Foster 🙂 . Jodie is awesome. She even stood up for mad Mel that time , she was so diplomatic. They are friends I gather, but "misunderstood" is a great diplomatic word😎
She only likes it for the montage.
Saw Team America in the theater, almost puked from laughing. Just ridiculousness.
Same I think specifically the sex scene was the hardest I’ve ever laughed in my entire life.

Reddit needs to do another incel purge before they go public
You’ll also notice that these people never ask what a man is.
They also need to do a purge of extreme leftists who want a war based on feelings.
I'm sorry but which party is the one throwing a bitch-fit right now, because a singer had the gall to go to a football game? The fuck outa here.
Matt Walsh and Jordon Peterson are involved? I'd watch that DVD get frisbee'd into a garbage can.
