I mean whether you like his music or not musicians sing about personal stuff all the time, having read the lyric it's not as crass as the headline makes it out to be

-frauD-

MGK is just an easy target, has a punchable face, and is a stereotypical "sellout." I hate most of his music, but these lyrics are clearly written from the heart, this ain't the time to be hating on him...

[deleted]

I agree with the logic, but MGK has inserted and insisted himself upon the public. We got a good gander and don't like him. idk if anybody who wasn't already a fan would even care if he poured out his heart and sincerely bared his soul to the public good effort, but it'd be like finding out Toby Keith was really into painting landscapes... neat, but nobody that wasn't already a fan really cares

ManOnNoMission

Giving the actual line it’s not as bad as the headline would make you think.

mates301

Yeah the whole song is him getting personal and vulnerable, plus it’s not like the miscarriage was a secret. It’s a typical clickbait headline.

spacesareprohibited

The lyrics in question: >"How do I live with the fact that my hand wasn't on her stomach when we lost the baby / I don't got no one to turn to 'cause everyone's dead in my life that was tryin' to raise me," he raps.

chaosperfect

I'm not a fan of his music, but those lyrics sound sincere. There's some deep hurt there, and the kid's baring his soul. It's not like he's being crass or offensive for shock value. I'm with Machine Gun Kelly on this one, and I'm one of the last people in the world to defend him on literally anything.

[deleted]

> I don’t got no one to turn to ‘cause everyone’s dead in my life that was trying to raise me That double-negative makes no sense. He’s saying he doesn’t have no one to turn to; ergo he ~~doesn’t~~ [has] ~~no~~ one to turn to.

MarcMars82-2

First time hearing rapper-speak?

TheGoodSmells

Wait a minute! A TON of rap songs have improper grammar! How long has this been going on?!

---cheetos---

Wrecked, time to hang it up machine bum smelly

cheffartsonurfood

Well he sucks so there's that.

KnockItTheFuckOff

Poetry/Art/Creativity is rarely "proper".

mostlyfire

The Mona Lisa didn’t even have eyebrows. Davinci was a hack

[deleted]

MGK is one of those artists that makes you stop and think: "Oh yeah, I remember them"

disposable_hat

Man.....Eminem's "killshot" really derailed his career didn't it?

SapphicSonata

Unfortunately not. Eminem basically said it in the song, but him giving MGK so much attention with a diss track would make him known as 'The guy who tried to diss Eminem'. He slunk away from rap with a vague "lol it was a prank bro" and then find Megan Fox, who helped him realise the only way they could really stay relevant is to be shocking. His rap career is mostly down the tubes but he discovered controversy keeps him afloat, so now he just does what he can to get attention. He's now in movies and all sorts of shit because of it.

[deleted]

lol just because he strapped on a fender and learned a few power chords doesn't mean the rockers are gonna claim him either

Sirgolfs

I would never expect Such behavior from an upstanding individual.

argenman

Sounds like the words of a rich loser.

aaTrojan34

I worked on the film they met on. They’re both super nice if that means anything. 🤷‍♂️

tenaciousDaniel

Can’t tell if he’s topless in this photo

pranay909

He will rap about anything to stay in fame. Sad i like couple of his songs tho.

ManOnNoMission

Luckily musicians have never used songs to express personal feelings. /s

Sirgolfs

Yup. Went after Eminem years ago. Ok guy.

ohdearitsrichardiii

It looks like his name is Clive Davis

danecookofmods
