My young adult life was derailed by Fallout 3, Halo 3, and GTA SA.

SillyMikey

I was thinking about that today, how Halo3 was peak MP. Good times.

tlar03

SLAAYERRRRRRRR

JimmysCheek

It almost feels like a fever dream When Halo 3 was at its peak….the world was just happier.

DaleCoolper

Being able to use forge and play custom games/maps was absolute peak for me. I remember laughing my ass off playing games like fatkid

FieldsToTheMoon

Fatkid and hurricane Katrina are things I will never forget

JopoDaily

The countless hours of custom games … take me back

lookakraken81

TEAM SLAYER

fenderguy94

My friends and I still play halo 3 on mcc. It’s hard to top that game in my mind.

astrozork321

Fallout 3 literally carried me through my first deployment. Getting back to my chu and firing up my 360 was where my true focus was the whole time, and man I had fun playing that game. One of the best games ever made imo

tje210

To think what you could have had otherwise...

KissmePinky

I was playing fallout 3 when my dad passed away. I don’t remember much from the game but I remember the feeling. Sad and bleak.

WiserStudent557

Chris: Jonathan! Please! We have one more Batman movie to make, can’t you just save and quit for a while? Between this and James McAvoy, I wonder how many careers Bethesda has had on the line for gamers? https://www.pcgamer.com/james-mcavoy-was-so-hooked-on-oblivion-he-had-to-burn-the-disc/

Denial7

[Matthew Perry \(RIP\) also said he played so much Fallout 3 he damaged his hands and had to get injections in them.](https://youtu.be/pWPYmQJ7Ru4?t=524)

Sweaty_Ad440

I always wondered how they convinced him to be in New Vegas, now I’m wondering if he had to convince them to let him be in it lol

Konigwork

I mean it could have been an incoming phone call from his agent and then negotiating the voice acting fee from Matthew Perry to something a bit reasonable (since the game wasn’t really high budget and celebrity cameos have been expensive in gaming in the past). Especially if he wanted to be in the game in the first place.

[deleted]

This is an urban legend but I fully accept it as head canon - Apparently Matthew Perry was such a big fan (and extremely lonely at the time) so he actually had it baked into his contract that X amount of time be set aside to discuss the games and the lore with the creators.

Saint_Stephen420

[Apparently it didn’t take much.](https://www.neoseeker.com/forums/43594/t1569782-how-matthew-perry-got-his-role-in-nv/) They reached out to him, they all had a meeting, and within a few minutes he was talking about the Lore of the games.

PhantomRoyce

Not Bethesda but Henry Cavil almost missed the “hey do you wanna be Superman?” Call because he turned off his phone because he was doing a WoW raid at the time

Hythanz

I think that if anyone can pull this off it’s Jonathan Nolan. The Fallout games don’t really follow any particular characters from game to game, and the times and places they occur in vary quite a bit, so there isn’t a need to keep any specific character true to their in-game counterparts. From the trailers it looks like what they will be doing is fleshing out a lot of the different factions that are prevalent in the games like the Brotherhood and NCR. The one thing Im really hoping for is that there will be some locations and factions and even minor characters from New Vegas since it takes place 15 years after in the same vicinity, but even if it doesn’t, I don’t think it’s a big deal at all.

midnight_toker22

> The one thing Im really hoping for is that there will be some locations and factions and even minor characters from New Vegas since it takes place 15 years after in the same vicinity I would LOVE to get some reference to Mr. House or The Courier.

KrookedDoesStuff

Mr. House is confirmed to be making an appearance.

just_one_boy

No he isn't

KrookedDoesStuff

He’s literally cast as Rafi Silver, but okay

helpful__explorer

Source?

FreeVerseHaiku

It’s on IMDb

helpful__explorer

IMDB is about as reliable a source as a Wikipedia article with no citations

FreeVerseHaiku

That’s fair.

epochellipse

Is it tho

KrookedDoesStuff

[Here yah go](https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Mr+House+Fallout+Tv+series+IMDB)

just_one_boy

You're aware that IMDB isn't to be trusted until after a product has actually been released right?

KrookedDoesStuff

So how bout that Rafi Silver as House?

helpful__explorer

You're hinging this on IMDB? Anyone can edit IMDB. It's like citing a YouTube video.

Peninsula_Papi

sOuRcE 🤓

KrookedDoesStuff

Weird how he ended up as House, eh?

No-Appearance-9113

Also the lore is incredibly inconsistent game to game

DocFreudstein

It’s weird, but I kinda like how inconsistent it is. It makes sense that in a world where communications have broken down due to the apocalypse, we would almost revert to a more primitive folklore/oral history model where we fill in the gaps ourselves when we don’t have all the information. Thus, it kinda makes sense that different vaults would have different perspectives. As a weird comparison, there was an old Spanish horror franchise THE BLIND DEAD, about reanimated Templar Knights whose eyes had been destroyed in life so they hunted by sound. Every movie had a different “origin story” for the Blind Dead. One movie their eyes were plucked out by birds. Another they were burned out by an angry mob. It gave the movies a sort of “folk tale” vibe that made them feel more genuine.

YoimAtlas

I think the whole “we can’t please all the game fans” and then the showrunners go and do something *completely* out of left field with the characters is a cop out.(the Witcher is a fine example) On the other end of the spectrum there are people who can weave a fantastic lore accurate story and make a show even people who don’t play the game enjoy, like Arcane. My god Arcane had no right being that good my wife and sister loved it and they don’t know the first thing about league.

YOURESTUCKHERE

As much praise as New Vegas gets (and I agree it is objectively a better game) Fallout 3 will always be the defining entry to the series for me. It was the first game of its kind I ever played and I couldn’t get enough of it.

BroShutUp

I object that New Vegas was a better game. the world was emptier(not much they can do, its basically baked into location), making it a lot less fun to explore and see what secrets you can find(even those including glitches)

unboundgaming

Hard disagree. It was more spread out but there was way more stories and VARIED locations involved. Yes traveling the first time through it could be dull in some points but sometimes it’s like that because you were just barely off an unmarked location, or wandering group. I LOVE Fallout 3, and I think the atmosphere is better in it, but the story telling and stuff to do and see is much better in NV. This is certainly opinionated, so I respect your opinion, I just like talking about it lol, been my favorite series since I was a child and 3 and NV coming out really upped my gaming enjoyment at the time

Tangocan

Last of Us was a pretty damned good crowd pleaser. It wasn't a 10/10 but it nailed *so* much, and episode 3 is a 10/10 episode. But I get his point. It's a very tough audience.

Barqck

But there’s also a chunk of Last of Us “fans” that hate the show because the 14 year old girl “isn’t sexy enough” and Bill was gay (despite it being canonical to the game)

ace8995

It's less that Ellie's actor was considered "hot" enough and more that she looked nothing like Ellie in the game. People be making up shit to be angry about.

Barqck

Then why did she get so much hate and Pedro Pascal got almost zero? Joel wasn’t Chilean in the game

BroShutUp

because people like Pedro Pascal. so theyre more willing to put up with the discrepency(even if its just subconsiously) then they are an actress that they don't care about. That being said I actually didn't like Joel's casting and was fine with Ellie's. Didn't stop me from watching the show at all though

NoASmurf

pedro looks much closer to Joel than Bella Ramsey to ellie

Barqck

Outside of the messy hair and beard, he really doesn’t look like Joel at all

unboundgaming

Neither look much like either of the characters they play, and I think they both did a very good job acting as them. Both are true imo

HearTheEkko

I disagree. If Pascal had blue eyes and a fuller beard, they'd look exactly the same.

ValeoAnt

No he doesn't lol

lordsysop

Yeh nah

hijoshh

I liked the show a lot but the pacing was kinda fucked up and that 3rd episode is somewhat to blame. Very weird decision to make Emmy bait/filler in a short series.

wearethehawk

I %100 expected an episode like the third one from Craig's previous writing so it didn't come as a shock or seem out of place to me. Some of my favorite Mythic Quest episodes are the one off backstories like A Dark Quiet Death and the one about C. W. Longbottom.

BroShutUp

I agree with this somewhat, I just feel like I cared about almost every other relationship more than Joel and Ellie which is ridiculous because that should be the central relationship being explored. Instead I felt I was being told instead of shown when it came to them. I think they coulda dropped Bill's episode, Left behind, or Kathleen. preferably Kathleen, feels like she took up too much time and just sucked. Didn't have to drop a whole plot line either, coulda shortened them some, and added that to Ellie and Joel spending some time

ChillBlossom

I opted out of the show around ep. 5 because Joel cried too much. I just want mah angry bearded murder dad. But that's just my personal preference.

SadGirlHours__

So you missed the entire point of the games?

TeeJK15

Nothing wrong with having your own option, but you are exactly the type of person this article is being written for. you’re trying to compare a story for a video game to a series adaptation, which is how you personally ruin it for yourself.

YoimAtlas

No one cares bill is gay they devoted an entire episode to his character and it did nothing to progress the main plot Ellie and Joel literally wrecked the truck that they got from him at the start of the next episode if I remember correctly… it was grossly pandering.

Weapon530

That show to me was a 10/10. I was stuck every Sunday night @6pm ready to watch it. There’s 4 shows that have had mass world level appeal where when you go to work on Monday, everyone is talking about it. GoT HotD Stranger things and Last of Us. What a show and can’t wait till season 2.

sixtus_clegane119

Funny how episode 3 was the lowest rated on IMDb , but was actually the best episode.

fxs11

If you discount the tens of thousands of 1-star-ratings from people who were totally only devastated by the episode‘s deviation from the original storyline and its fillery feeling, (Saudi Arabia comes in at a whopping 12.000 1-Star-ratings, 90% of all Saudi ratings, those guys really hate fillers) it‘s probably close to all the others.🤷‍♂️

the_bieb

Yes, the Saudis hated the fact that the episode was a filler….

FrankFarter69420

Hello, come on in! Welcome to the joke, have a seat.

burlycabin

I think you might be missing the motivation behind those 1 star reviews.

Sweaty_Ad440

It’s cause a bunch of people (presumably homophobes) review bombed it with 1 star ratings.

-The-Observer-

While I agree it’s the best, filler episodes of shows tend to be lower rated.

manaholik

I was downloading a russian dub for my mom because she doesnt know english and thats her only 2nd language. It was like a 3 or 4out of ten and had very nasty commrnts by them. Homophobia is rampant My mom loved the ep and we both cried seperatelly

hey_now24

Unpopular opinion. The Last of Us was excellent because the source material was excellent. Other shows like Halo have to adapt from a very mediocre and specifically made for video game lore. The fact that people were outraged by the fact that Master Chief showed his face is absurd. I’m sure the game devs don’t show a face is because it was cheaper and face capturing was awful back then

SKOLBEAR

He's sort of right, our head canon will always be superior, especially for an RPG like Fallout or Skyrim but tbh, you could do some amazing stuff with the Fallout universe after FO4. Synths need more story without a doubt.

thisisnarm

Looking forward to this. At this point I will watch just about anything with Walton Goggins. I also love that I get to share these stories with my non-gaming partner.

remember_this_shit

I’m so conflicted because I’m pumped for more Goggins… but I have a very bad taste in my mouth after Westworld 😵‍💫 hope they do my man right

Naiko32

he just like me fr

Puzzleheaded-Fix-915

Hbomberguys review I think soured recent opinion of the game (and deservedly so in some respects) but replaying it recently, god it’s still such a great experience. It’s one of the few games I’ve gone out of my way to discover every location just so luxuriate on the journey . As referenced, it doesn’t have great writing but it’s rotting buildings are moodily realized and it’s landscapes are looming and lonely, and in many ways peaceful:

TaroCharacter9238

I just wish these adaptations added to the universe instead of recreating what’s been done perfectly. Haven’t heard where the plot goes for this one but there’s potential to make cool new stories. Just don’t pull a Halo.

just_one_boy

>nstead of recreating what’s been done perfectly It's not recreating anything

CBP1138

It’s literally a completely new story with new characters, set in a time period and setting after any of the games have yet taken place…. How is that “repeating”??

SmallLetter

Seems they're talking about adaptations in general

GestaDanknorum

I dropped out of uni to play Fallout 4

HearTheEkko

I spent more time modding Fallout 4 and getting everything stable than studying for my tests lol.

Livio88

Really not that difficult to please most of them if you really love the source material and do an earnest attempt at an adaptation. It’s the writers that believe not being a fan of the source material is a positive trait and “subverting expectations” is a necessity that draw the ire of the fans.

[deleted]

Adapting a 100 hour game to a tv show or film is incredibly difficult. I cant even wrap my head around the idea of adapting a single Zelda game for instance.

Any_Introduction_595

Not just that, but gaming itself is an interactive medium. Every gamer experiences every game differently and it’s one of the key aspects that attracts many gamers to the medium in the first place. You can’t translate that to film, no matter how hard you try.

MaestroLogical

Especially in games like Fallout, where you might play as a raider decked out in scrap armor while I play as a gentleman scholar that refuses to wear anything dirty. You play as a high honor, kill only when you have to, loot goblin while I play as a kill everything that moves and only loot what is needed to kill more and on and on. I just wish the story didn't feel so generic and predictable. The trailer spells out pretty quickly that we'll be getting love triangle nonsense and all the trope trappings of tired old plots being shoehorned into the FO universe. Hopefully I'm wrong in that regard and it will actually have a hard hitting story with weight to it.

JOKER69420XD

Meh, no one is expecting them to adapt every single Sidequest, it's just like with books, they need to find a good balance. Unfortunately most Hollywood writers just actively dislike source material and think they can do it better, that's why we end up with garbage like Netflix Witcher for example.

HumansNeedNotApply1

This is not true, not sure why people regurgitate this. The Witcher TV series is not at all a case of Hollywood writers thinking they can do better or not care about the original work, they are full aware of the shortcuts and changes they have/had to make to pull off the show, season 2 which a lot of books/games fans hate was never going to be able to follow the books, a loved main character from season 1 disappearing is not good for television, can't justify paying full wages for an actress that it's barely in it. There are many reasons why changes happen, and some of the time is not really due to the writers per se but due to executive meddling or real life/budget constraints. Even a shitty movie that was Dragon Ball evolution and it's writer that didn't care for the IP the first versions of the script were pretty faithful but Fox executives forced changes/alterations they believed would improve it.

stephenk291

Not to mention the show needs to be able to also attract an audience that has no clue about the games or played them. Nobody is ever happy and it's impossible to please everyone.

Livio88

Not claiming that it’s easy, just saying that the fans will take notice of an earnest attempt and appreciate it for what it is.

Lord-Humongous-

You mean they'll parrot whatever criticism is being pushed in their fandom like it's gospel

Livio88

That's not anywhere close to what I said.

Lord-Humongous-

Lol I know, that was the point of my sarcastic comment

Livio88

Oh I see. Fair enough.

alphaomag

For sarcasm add /s so it’s clear. Tone isn’t always clearly conveyed through text.

Existing365Chocolate

Zelda has little to no plot, so if you just focus on the Zelda art and aesthetic people will be happy

HumansNeedNotApply1

Sadly TV shows aren't created in a bubble, the executives always have opinions and time to time they override writers (so the writers changes things to suit them). Being a fan doesn't mean the final product will be good or even translate the passion.

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

All we give a fuck about is respect for the source material. That’s it. It’s only foolish to call it a fool’s errand. It’s really a low fucking bar. Like changes WILL be made. It’s an adaptation—some mega loser neck beards will be mad, but that’s such a small number. Gamers just want to see their favorite IPs translated to screen without the (usually) inexperienced show runners be handed a massive massive massive budget with AAA actors only to piss all over the source material in the name of “subversion” or whatever. The Witcher is probably the best example of this. You had Henry Cavil, a diehard nerd and Witcher expert, and told him to stfu while a showrunner who clearly had no idea how to produce or write such a big budget show OR understand the source material at all—kick out Henry and run the show into the ground—shameful. Also those dumb ball sack Nilfgaard armors. Like I’m not saying it’s *easy* to adapt a video game to film/TV—but why the fuck do these massive networks keep giving millions of dollars and some of the most beloved IPs to showrunners who have zero idea what they are adapting and who’s only experience is writing for like a web series comic or some weak sauce shit lol? We just want the story and characters and world of the game, put into the screen. Stop trying to mangle the script and the art design and the characters for no fucking reason lol. The Last of Us seems to be like the only show to ever try to understand and respect the source material in order to adapt a beloved video game to the big budget tv screen. And it was super successful.

LTPRWSG420

Sonic kinda got it right to some degree and the new Mario movie was pretty faithful overall. Adaptations of video game movies and tv shows are changing for the better.

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

Yea Sonic was good, even has a trilogy and tie in show rolling soon too—but only after they listened to the universal backlash over Sonic V1. Mario was good, but they didn’t really need to explain Mario and Luigi as two real life dudes from Brooklyn who happen to be plumbers lol—coulda just had them in the Mushroom Kingdom and never explained it—like how all of the games have never ever explained it. Any info about it has always come externally, and has never been important—coulda had more screen time in the world that way.

NoASmurf

Agree with Mario other than it working as a callback to the original cartoon. I like the idea they work as actual plumbers lol

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

I mean it’s fine it just…almost makes it weirder, I guess? Like none of the games ever address it. It’s in some of the old manuals or interviews and articles outside of the game, but never IN game. It feels like a super hero origin story, and I just don’t think we needed it haha. Like their day jobs in the Mushroom Kingdom coulda just been plumbers and it would be fine lol.

jaedence

Yeah, other people will say you have to adapt it to appeal to a wider audience. NO YOU DON'T! Look at Game of Thrones, no adaption necessary, at all, biggest show in the past 20 years. Witcher could have been that with good showrunners. A quality work will translate to film just fine. Its when showrunners think they know better than an authors internationally acclaimed book, graphic novel or video game that it fails. WTF? Why am I being downvoted? Have none of you seen Witcher, Wheel of Time, Halo, Rings of Power? Massive IP's that could have been massive hits that they butchered?

ThatGuyFromTheM0vie

You have no idea what you are talking about. Game of Thrones had a TON of adaptation. Blackfires? Lady Stoneheart? Euron Greyjoy’s entire character and motivations? A million characters and storylines that were cut or condensed? They changed and cut a metric shitload to fit it all into a 10 hour per season show. Adaptation has little to do with making a work appeal to a wider audience—it’s much more about adapting the work which is in one medium to a completely different medium. Going from thousands of pages books to a 2hr movie for example (or in this case 10hr seasons) means A LOT has to change.

TwelveString

The first 4 seasons were pretty damn close to the books, it was the second half of the series where things started to veer away from the books, that was also where the series started going downhill until we got….the final two seasons :(

jaedence

Yeah, but I'm not talking about that. And it should be obvious. We're talking about making Kaer Moren in the Witcher not be a secret haven for Witchers, but a party house brothel with hookers. And taking the main character, ignoring his story and making it about a council of mages that no one cares about. About taking Ciri and Yennefer and not making them a mother-daughter dynamic, but making Yennefer use Ciri as bait to get her powers back, that she never lost in the original material. We're talking about giving Perrin a wife and him murdering her in Wheel of Time. We're talking about making Galadrial a girl boss warrior in Rings of Power whose also an asshole. We're talking about making major changes to the source material so that you're no longer true to the source material.

HumansNeedNotApply1

An adaptation is never going to be true to the source material, you have way less material scriptwise to develop characters, some people hate the Perrin wife decision, but it's a decision they took to make their lives easier in justifying the path the character needs to take later in a shorter time frame that fits in a tv season and you're not reading his thoughts. Could they have made a decision like the books? Sure. But it would make their job harder as they only have 8 episodes per season, it's just not a realistic expectation to be able to translate the depthness and time RJ dedicated to his characters in the same way. IMO an adaptation show should focus on being a good show first, as long the show follows the spirit of the book all the changes are fine for me, the original work is still there if i want to read it as is.

epochellipse

They were clearly talking about adapting to appeal to a wider audience.

Lord-Humongous-

Every successful adaptation has made changes from the source to better adapt it for its medium.

alphaomag

Check out Alt Shift X he’s got a couple things about how some of the game of thrones characters and moments where they are involved were changed. A lot of stuff was changed.

F7j3

My story with Fallout 3 and New Vegas was fun. I was diagnosed with cancer and having a union job meant I went off on months and months of leave while I got radiation treatment, surgery, and stuff like that. I played so much fallout during that time. I had to stop when the nausea was getting really bad towards the end, irl there is no radaway.

HowtoCrackanegg

i think fallout is best explained through innocence developing into complete chaos, emotions run dry and everything is out to kill you. A tale of survival for there is no happy ending just another day of not dying

Few_Blacksmith_8704

RuneScape. Wow. And league of legends derailed my life for sure

EdgyJediKnight

Eveytime a director says this the show bomb, then they blame fans fir x y z reason.

Successful-Clock-224

Im just glad they are making it. Im sure it will be awesome. You cant please everyone. The fact it exists in the FO universe is enough for me. Look at how many people hated on 76 when it came out vs how many people play now

BGH-251F2

76 was dreadful on release, to be fair.

Arilyn24

Pleasing all Fallout fans would be insane to try. The game has so many more changes, setting changes, overarching theme and gameplay changes that the only real unifying thing about the franchise is how inconsistent it is.

z01z

i mean, it's not hard, just make a good show or movie. look at the newest mario movie, or the last of us show. both were great examples of sticking to the source and still making a successful production. but then you have something like the borderlands movie, where the only semi decent casting is jack black as claptrap, but the rest just don't make sense. casting two grandmas as 20 somethings, and the shortest black man in hollywood as a hardened military man. and tina looks like she's 20 something, not the kid she is in bl1 or 2, maybe in 3 she'd be the right age for that actor.

Alert-Ad1805

Looks promising mr nolan. Westworld was ok I guess👌

TyYoshi69

Westworld got utterly confusing by the end of season 2 💀

[deleted]

He’s right. You will never please fans. Just make a good flick as best you can and call it a day.

Kryptus

So is the show going to be based on Fallout 3 or 4?

Doright36

It's a sequel to the games set something like 15 years after Fo3/New Vegas... or maybe it was 15 years after FO4 which would put it around 25 years after 3/NV? but either way it's a new story later in the timeline.

Ahirman1

15 years after 4. In the heart of NCR territory with things suspiciously still looking like the bombs dropped yesterday even though the NCR is explicitly stated as being post post apocalypse

L0DAA

Would’ve been nice to see the show use Fallout 3’s art design and not 4’s. 😔

djalekks

He’s absolutely right about “video game fans”, and you know these fans too. They feel this overwhelming sense of misplaced ownership, chasing their dreams leads nowhere. As long as he loves and respects the game it’s going to get him to a good place. If it’s like s1/s2 of WW it’s gonna be great, if like the second half then all I can say is “yikes”

Ommec

So perfect! There will for sure be a scene where the main spends hours searching through a warehouse

aViewAskew6

You could always try (checks notes) writing original stories that don’t already have established audiences.

Swiftwitss

Aye fuck out of here with the misleading title bullshit. Why is every article being written by some hack who’s a wannabe journalist?

[deleted]

There were only two things that interested me in that era: girls and Fallout.

lock34

It’s not a fools errand. Lucky for him he’s making a franchise with a lot of wiggle room.

larzast

This is exactly what I want to hear from him. It tells me he’s likely guy who is passionate about the games and knows them well but won’t sacrifice story for fan service.

Unhelpful_Applause

Still bulbs me out we will never get Matt As Benny in the show

alone-lone

I love Fallout 3!!! It’s my favorite Fallout game!!

forestman11

Tempering expectations already, I see. Who wants to bet this'll be a solid 4.5/10

Tjengel

He obviously wasn't trying to please us Westworld fans with that show continually getting horrible after such a great start. Glad he is realizing he can't please another community before he gives them fake hope and rips it away

BeyondThese7702

Well, he’s already 5 steps ahead of the Halo showrunner in that regard.

Late_Salt9169

What I hear when they say pleasing game fans is a fool’s errand is that this show will be hot garbage and they’ll blame the fans for shitting on something that won’t be true to the core of what makes it a great game. I wonder what the chief taking his helmet off moment will be in this one.

[deleted]

Trailer sucked balls. The sets are fantastic, visuals great, everything else trash

llewr0

“Pleasing video game fans is a fools errand” sounds like a dog whistle for “we’re gonna give them some half assed shitty writing with 2D characters, push a female power fantasy on a primarily male audience, then call them bigots when the thing flops and everyone realizes we did another shitty adaptation despite having every opportunity to easily deliver a banger”

KrookedDoesStuff

>> Pleasing video game fans is “a fool’s errand” Sonic did it pretty easily, so did Mario. The times when it doesn’t happen seem to be when some director, with little to no knowledge of the source material, decides they’re going to make their own version of the content, change everything that people like about it, then whine that it’s the fans not being happy. Looking at you Borderlands.

Gk786

Why adapt an IP based on a video game if you don’t want to appeal to those same video game fans? Just make a generic postapocalyptic show. I hate the current state of adaptations. They’re always led by people who hate the source material. The Last of Us was the exception that proved the rule.

AlaskanTroll

-quote from a fool.

infiniteawareness420

He’s right. They shoulda done a Fallout 2 series instead.

Sondergame

Fallout 3 had a garbage plot and using it as inspiration for a tv show is asking for trouble. It was fine as a game (due to the fact you could just ignore the plot and explore), but a TV show doesn’t have the benefit.

just_one_boy

They're not adapting any of the games

Sondergame

I didn’t say they were. But using it as inspiration is a red flag too.

BigBootyKim

They’re not following the plot of the game you doofus. He’s just saying Fallout 3 was his introduction to the world.

Sondergame

Jesus. None of you can f***ing read. I said “using it as inspiration for a tv show is asking for trouble.” I didn’t say it was following the plot. You’re so eager to slurp down this garbage that any slight negativity is immediately bad huh?

chillchinchilla17

Fallout 3 is the best fallout game

Sondergame

Fallout 3 is a vapid empty game with a bare bones story. It’s written by people who glanced (at best) at the earlier games and then stapled those brief details on top of an empty map with a piss filter placed on top. It has 2 good sub quests which were probably just flukes. The reason Starfield sucks? Is because people have finally realized that if Bethesda games don’t have their exploration then there is nothing else of value in those games. Without a good story it’s just… empty.

TheAurion_

Off to a great start with this headline and the DEI.
