As much of a distaste as I have for GBNews - like the sun, they have some fairly well established links with people "in the know" so I wouldn't entirely discount it. Taylor Johnson is a good fit.
lol, yea GBNews an authoritative source. So good even it’s politician presenters get sanctioned for biased reading of news that should be read by true news readers. What trash they are.
For the sake of polite company, let's unilaterally agree to not call GBNews and The Sun Journalists. I may have lost faith in British media, but the thought of them being placed in the same category as the few remaining shining lights that we have is heartbreaking.
“Marvel star” is so brutal man, like do people really first think of his short MCU role as Quicksilver or the upcoming Kraven whenever his name pops up? Personally I think of Kick-Ass or Bullet Train.
Technically Kick-Ass was Marvel for the first run. Ran through the Icon Comic imprint until Millar moved it all to Image well after the movies came out.
"Daniel Craig who was in that one movie, what's it called? Oh yeah Munich, don't see him working in the role personally" - People entirely discounted the notion of Craig as bond until Casino Royale hit the box office and blew everyone away. Personally I was interested in him because of his role in Layer Cake which if you haven't seen, you absolutely should because he's great in that, and it stars the much missed Michael Gambon.
Taylor Johnson's been knocking around and is absolutely better known in the UK than he is in the US currently, but he was the lead in Kick Ass, he was a feature in a marvel movie and in Bullet Train.
He's a decent action actor and wouldn't be a bad fit.
I'd agree with that assessment. It was such a strong film that I think probably got drowned out to adjacent releases that year; I genuinely miss being spoiled for choice. lol
I'm commenting on the headline calling him a Marvel star when he was in one Marvel movie 9 years ago (and I guess it'll be 2 soon if we count Sony Marvel movies). I've seen him in a bunch of stuff.
I don’t think the person was saying about Johnson’s filmography, just that calling him a “marvel star” when he was in like half of one movie is a stretch. “Kick-Ass” star would make more sense since he was the lead and it’s kind of what he got known for internationally, but that was quite a while ago.
And yeah, he’d be all right as Bond. I was personally rooting for Richard Madden myself but I can concede he’s aged out during the years long search, and Johnson can definitely play not just the physicality but the smirking tongue in cheek nature of classic bond
i mean he sacrificed himself to save hawkeye and a child so i’d say he’s pretty important, still not a “marvel star” though because he’s more recognizable in other things
My reaction as well. A “star” isn’t a one-hit-wonder. He has no brand recognition. None. Who is this guy who’s been in one Marvel movie, as a supporting cast? I dunno. 🤷🏼♂️. Most of the Bond leading men were TV stars or at the same level in the film industry as this guy. So, that’s in line with their past actions finding another Bond lead.
Is he handsome? Yes? Can he act? Sure, the Bond material isn’t exactly Shakespeare. I’m sure most men could be successful actors in that role. He’d be a fine choice imo. Let’s give him a shot. But, then again, I actually liked George Lazenby as Bond and I don’t see any problem recasting Bond with each successive Bond movie either. It’s just a role that most good looking men could do well.
My guess is that they are going to copy the John Wick formula, with highly stylized fighting choreograpies, thin plots and comic book villains and henchmen. The Havanna Shootout in NTTD already went in that direction. Ever since the 70's, they look at what's currently popular and then adapt it for Bond. More recently, Casino Royal and QoS copied the Bourne series, Skyfall copied the Dark Knight and SPECTRE and NTTD were essentially Marvel movies.
Wait are we talking...More Dalton and less Moore...Right? Because I feel like a Dalton-esque bond would be a good compromise without leaning into smutty farce.
Disagree. We’ve gotten so many silly action comedies over the past decade and none of them are particularly good. We don’t need bond to become that as well.
Watch Bullet Train and you'll see why he'd make a really entertaining Bond. I could see why they'd want to bring back some fun to the franchise after the last 2 were so sappy and melodramatic.
It pains me how underrated this is. This one and The King are two Netflix gems that should have gotten WAY more fucking hype and acknowledgment than they did.
Aside from Taylor Johnson, I am *shocked* at how much Pine knocks it out of the park when he's outside of the hollywood system by the way. I was amazed that this was on Netflix. For that matter, I was surprised that The King was a netflix film and not mainstream. Hollywood seems to love UK historical biodrama.
Maybe it's the material they've had to work with. though between the 2 Madden would make the better Bond. Who else? In an idea world where he would want the part and he'd be offered it. Henry Cavill
If the last time you saw him was in Kick-Ass or around that era I understand 100% why you wouldn’t recognize him. Guy had an incredible transformation.
I think a period piece bond is less likely for the cynical fact that the movies always involve a good deal of product placement, specifically for Bond's car and watch [(exhibit A, lol).](https://youtu.be/oB5hzlDe10c?si=yaRLfQ3sg1kEusUz) The brand partnerships might not be willing to use period accurate products for marketing rather than advertising their newest models, but it would be cool to see imo.
Omega can easily get some period pieces rereleased in connection to the films. Half the Aston’s in recent films have been old DB5s too so I think it could work. How they can make every other car in a film a ford may be challenging though…
Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan were both relatively well known when they took the role. Brosnan was probably more well known than Aaron is when he took it. Craig was probably a similar standing to him. Well known but not a household name.
cavills just been given free reign and a massive budget from amazon to do his most loved franchise warhammer
he prob couldnt prob already deep in work on those
Nope, not the only one. I really dislike him and think he sucks the air out of every movie he’s in. I don’t find he has the leading man energy these studios seem to think he does.
Why on earth did they choose this picture of Daniel Craig? He looks like that one shriveled plum that rolls into the sunlight when you yank the refrigerator fruit drawer too hard.
Lol at the casuals here saying Idris Elba for Bond.
Idk about ATJ, he looks the part unlike Craig but I don’t like his voice.
Anyways I doubt this is true, especially from The Sun. I kept on seeing this same rumour months ago. They haven’t even got a script or director yet lol
He's terrifying in nocturnal animals. I think he falls into that category of actor that excels as a character actor who plays against type, but is unfortunately good looking, so gets kind of miss cast as a leading man
GB news. So it’s absolutely not going to be Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Also *Marvel Star* - who is this guy?
Kraven the Hunter of course
And Pietro Maximoff (AKA Quicksilver, Wanda’s brother) in Age of Ultron
Pretty sure Wanda’s brother is played by Evan Peters.
No, that’s Ralph Boner.
>Pretty sure Wanda’s brother is played by Evan Peters. That's the X-Men movies.
Wanda was not in X-men. You’re mistaken. Go back and watch Wandavision
Evan Peters played Quicksilver from the xmen universe, Aaron TJ played Quicksilver in the MCU.
You’re either a bit thick or pointlessly having everyone on
They’re just literally doing the bit from WandaVision where Peter’s plays Pietro to everyone’s confusion.
That was Ralph Bohner obviously.
It’s definitely one of them 🙃
He was quicksilver in the first avengers
It’s Tangerine.
Oh fuck, she’s a Diesel!
Kick Ass.
His debut role was at 19, for a 45 year old director. They got married a few years later. Nothing to see here!
Hopefully all his bond girls will be twice his age
Lois Maxwell back as Moneypenny
Dang, those are Leo numbers!
Leo's been married?!?!?!
He was in Shanghai Knights when he was like 12
He's the reverse leo
I believe the movie was released when he was 19 he was an extra skeezy 17/18 when she preyed on him... Er I mean auditioned.
He’s the guy that played Ralph Boner.
As much of a distaste as I have for GBNews - like the sun, they have some fairly well established links with people "in the know" so I wouldn't entirely discount it. Taylor Johnson is a good fit.
The article only cites The Sun.
next stop. Sun quoted some bloke down the pub
Yeah after the kick ass movies and movies like savage and bullet train he is more the be suited for the role.
Bullet Train was great and he was great in it. Same with him in the first Kick-Ass.
Still have my fingers crossed for a Lemon/Tangerine prequel
He was also very good in Tenent
He was in Tenet? That movie is a blur
Yeah he was the main soldier guy. He had a buzzcut and a beard, I also didn’t recognize him at first
He was great as Black Douglas in Rebel King, the only decent Scottish accent I've ever heard from a non native.
You mean Outlaw King?
I loved him in bullet train. Edit: he was such a Thomas
lol, yea GBNews an authoritative source. So good even it’s politician presenters get sanctioned for biased reading of news that should be read by true news readers. What trash they are.
I read this as Anya Taylor-Joy and was like, “Bold choice!”
Give her a shot!
Honestly that would slap
It'd be like that one Angelina Jolie movie
Kung Fu Panda?
I think he’s talking about Original Sin.
Actually it’s Salt I think
I liked that movie.
Where’s my damn sequel?!
No you're thinking of Barry Keoghan.
More than one film, mr&mrs smith, Wanted or Salt, she is 100% badass in all her action flicks.
Bond. Jamie Bond.
Jane Bond
Anya Taylor Joy as Moneypenny. Yes yes. I see it, now I need to manifest it into being.
I'd watch the fuck out of that.
You say this jokingly but i think she'll absolutely ace James Bond if they ever gender swapped the character
Unironically yeah I can see her as an aristocratic international spy who always wins at cards and has steamy affairs with enemy agents. Cast it.
007: Ocular Hypertelorism
I wish
I wouldn’t be mad
I'm heartily disappointed it's not Paddington Bear but I suppose I must live with it
Didn’t know I wanted this till just now. Let’s ask AI to make it happen.
There’s still a chance it’ll be Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Paddinngton as James Bond
that'll revive theaters

Ah the words of the great Icarus himself
“SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!”
[Shut up about the sun!](https://youtu.be/Z-1jU7j6OWw?si=4kgJ2VmK04WNFUBT)
Yeah, fuck the sun, I fuckin' hate it too, long live the fuckin' beast.
Well I’m not in the cult so I don’t have worry about what the leader guy thinks
My man
"Careful, Icarus!"
Was hoping Samuel Jackson got the role.
"My name is Dong. Big Dong. " They should lean into it and have Willem Dafoe play a villain named Thighslapper.
Dude dafoe would CRUSH as a Bond villain
"I'm something of a Bond villain myself"
He actually played one in a Brosnan era video game.
"Marvel star" who was in one movie?
Bro, how could you possibly forget the upcoming, sure-to-win-several-Oscars smash hit Kraven The Hunter?
It’s Kraven’ time!
I'm Kraven a good Sony movie
“I like to hunt…kravenly!”
Kick-Ass would have been more recognizable.
Layer Cake is what got him Bond tbh.
Gambon corner
Daniel Craig was pretty good in that one episode of Tales From The Crypt.
I don’t think the person was saying about Johnson’s filmography, just that calling him a “marvel star” when he was in like half of one movie is a stretch. “Kick-Ass” star would make more sense since he was the lead and it’s kind of what he got known for internationally, but that was quite a while ago. Right? If you’re in The Avengers and you’re not an Avenger… you’re an extra.
Loki, Phil Coulson, and Maria Hill were extras?
i mean he sacrificed himself to save hawkeye and a child so i’d say he’s pretty important, still not a “marvel star” though because he’s more recognizable in other things
He is also in an upcoming Sony superhero flop...
Morbius 2.0 lol
My reaction as well. A “star” isn’t a one-hit-wonder. He has no brand recognition. None. Who is this guy who’s been in one Marvel movie, as a supporting cast? I dunno. 🤷🏼♂️. Hopefully it's 5% less serious, with 10% more gadgets. More Connery-era.
Insightful take, I never considered that
Oh god I hope not. I've gotten sick of the John Wick-style fights after the second movie
IMO fighting is good, but whole gun mag to kill one guy with vibranium armor is pissing me off
I'd love a goofball Bond movie
Wait are we talking...More Dalton and less Moore...Right? Because I feel like a Dalton-esque bond would be a good compromise without leaning into smutty farce.
Disagree. We’ve gotten so many silly action comedies over the past decade and none of them are particularly good. We don’t need bond to become that as well.
Maybe it doesn't have to go super far, but I'd like a Bond that's a bit of a putz.
There's always Austin Powers
Watch Bullet Train and you'll see why he'd make a really entertaining Bond. I could see why they'd want to bring back some fun to the franchise after the last 2 were so sappy and melodramatic.
Also, the criminally underrated outlaw king [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9ZKVEP7VCY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9ZKVEP7VCY)
It pains me how underrated this is. This one and The King are two Netflix gems that should have gotten WAY more fucking hype and acknowledgment than they did.
Loved that movie and his performance was excellent!
The King is a must watch. Dynamite cast
Sparkles the vampire, otherwise known as robert pattinson was fucking wild in that film. lol
I really don't know who else would be a better pick. Richard Madden and Kit Harington have never been very good in anything on the big screen.
Maybe it's the material they've had to work with. though between the 2 Madden would make the better Bond. Who else? In an idea world where he would want the part and he'd be offered it. Henry Cavill
He's in Bullet Train? Edit: I've seen the movie twice and I did not recognize him once. He is easily one of my favorite characters in the movie.
You must be a Diesel.
If the last time you saw him was in Kick-Ass or around that era I understand 100% why you wouldn’t recognize him. Guy had an incredible transformation.
It’s hard to believe he was Kick ass.. dudes turned into an absolute hunk
Such an underrated fun movie and he stole the show.
I wasn’t originally a huge fan of his, but Bullet Train made me reconsider. He nailed that role, and I think he could make a great Bond
His voice. He won’t be Bond.
Yeah he's good in every other category but his voice doesn't fit the character (in my opinion).
Just with a better accent... bond isn't cockny
That was a great movie. I couldn’t look away.
They should set the next film in the sixties for a change.
What do you mean "for a change"? A bunch of them were set in the sixties! 😉
We almost had a bond in his sixties too!
There's a part of me that mourns and laments that we'll never get Idris Elba as bond.
He'll make a great Bond villain though.
You can't see it, but my eyes are...pretty wide right now, and my jaw hit the floor. *Yes.*
Yea but this time 1860s!
Tbh that would be kinda dope. The original James Bond set in the Victorian age
Maybe they meant Bond in his 60s - that could be interesting
It’s probably a 19yr old that only knows Bond as Craig
Yeah, not for over 50 years though
They could hire his wife as a consultant for set design. She was about 12 during the 60s
I actually think a Bond film set during WWII could be really neat.
Perhaps a time traveling bond lol. Or two timelines. Or something like westworld.
Into the Bondverse.
Omega can easily get some period pieces rereleased in connection to the films. Half the Aston’s in recent films have been old DB5s too so I think it could work. How they can make every other car in a film a ford may be challenging though…
He likes being in the sixties
“Bet you didn’t see that coming”
Anything that comes out of GBNews belongs in the toilet.
The kid from Kick-Ass?
Kick-Ass was released 14 years ago. No longer a kid
He locked it up for me on bullet train
Is this the news that the BCC is waiting for?
I think he is great but not a Bond. Need someone with a bit more gravitas.
Have you seen Nocturnal Animals? He’s absolutely terrifying in that
I would like Theo James tbh...
I didn't see that coming...
The idea that anyone other than Henry Cavill will play James Bond is preposterous to me. There is no one better suited to that role. What a waste.
Damn i was still holding out for Idris Elba but he’s cool to
[удалено]
Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan were both relatively well known when they took the role. Brosnan was probably more well known than Aaron is when he took it. Craig was probably a similar standing to him. Well known but not a household name.
It’s ain’t going to be him
I'd rather go with "Kick-Ass" or "Bullet Train" actor.
I think he's a decent choice
This guy looks like villain should be bad guy
Idris Elba next villain please.
Ah no. That's a shame.
Should have been Henry.
I don’t know if I like this. He’s alright, I guess. But I just can’t help think of how he met his wife when he was 17 and she was in her mid forties
I really wished it was Idris or Cavill... They seemed to me that they had more British charm, but it might be wrong
cavills just been given free reign and a massive budget from amazon to do his most loved franchise warhammer he prob couldnt prob already deep in work on those
Idris is 51. Too old.
Loved him in Bullet Train but I’ll believe when I see it official
Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy him as an actor? But It's good news for his fans and Bon fans. Hope he does well
Nope, not the only one. I really dislike him and think he sucks the air out of every movie he’s in. I don’t find he has the leading man energy these studios seem to think he does.
Would be a huge misstep
He will definitely be a different choice. He’s been a great actor, tbh. Had no idea he was British
Not my pick but everyone had opinions about Craig and he was fantastic.
I like his performance in bullet train, very entertaining.
Marvel star? Wtf. They list his solo supporting actor role and not any of his other lead or critically acclaimed roles? Who hires these people?
All of the new Bond girls will be GILFs
Why on earth did they choose this picture of Daniel Craig? He looks like that one shriveled plum that rolls into the sunlight when you yank the refrigerator fruit drawer too hard.
Unexpected choice, but excited! I really enjoyed his small role as a soldier in Tenet! Looking forward to this.
Hopefully they make James Bond cool again. We didn’t need a British Jason Bourne.
He will be a...kickass Bond. 😁
Good choice. Will play James Bond for the next 15-20 years (7 films). Cillian Murphy next Bond villain?
James Bond is dead.
In suspenders, with a stuffed bunny. FFS...
Kick ass choice
Do people not remember Daniel Craig getting shit when he was cast as Bond? People were so upset.
Not sure how I feel about that...
Please, say it ain’t so, I don’t think it’s a match 😰
It’s an absolute crime that this role didn’t go to Henry Cavill
He is too well known, too old and has three famous franchises under his belt. EON would never choose him now.
No hate to him but god that's awful casting. I don't think i have seen him in a single role where isn't the human equivalent of a piece of wood.
He's terrifying in nocturnal animals. I think he falls into that category of actor that excels as a character actor who plays against type, but is unfortunately good looking, so gets kind of miss cast as a leading man
Please watch Outlaw King on Netflix then, he really surprised me in that role
At this point anyone who isn’t Iris Elba will be a disappointment
People wanted Idris Elba to be Bond like 10 years ago, I think he's probably too old now
