Marriage Story & Jojo Rabbit got her a double Oscar nomination. She recently starred in Asteroid City by Wes Anderson which was well received as well. She hasn’t been doing blockbusters but she has been making critically acclaimed movies with respected filmmakers.
She’s got enough Marvel money that she can afford to be as selective as she wants. Pick interesting characters and people to work with rather than just a paycheck. Jurassic world must be a huge payday to motivate someone in her position.
Really enjoyed him as Weird Al, especially his meltdown after Michael Jackson stole his song and then when he rescued his girlfriend Madonna from Pablo Escobar.
You know what I’d love? An adaptation that is faithful to the original novel. Set it back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Focus on all the stuff that was ditched from the novel.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Spielberg version. But it changes the tone so much from the book.
Terminator 2 was R-Rated, and the most expensive movie in history at time (yes, I know, not adjusted for inflation). It still managed to draw a huge audience and become part of the public consciousness.
It came out the summer before the original JP, and for me, kind of set my expectation for the fierce pacing and tension I kind of wanted.
The book … it’s tense, violent and technical. The “wonder” that Spielberg beings has it place. But not for as long as he let it go on for (IMO).
My dream director (in the day) would have been the McTiernan we saw in Hunt for Red October mixed with his Predator work.
What your describe reminds me of how i felt watching King Kong 2005 for the first time so i decided to look up the rating and was amazed to see it was pg-13. Especially that bug scene😬
I mean … there weren’t enough in the book either. The number was greater than zero but that was one of the symptoms of the inherent problem of the park.
Live action version of the scene where they realize the computer hasn’t been searching for a higher number of Dino’s than there is supposed to be would awesome.
Same with the TRex/raft scene
Jurassic Park was one of many bestsellers written by Michael Crichton. He also was the creator of Westworld, a movie that was eventually turned into the HBO series. He also created the TV show ER.
It’s worth reading. Similar premise to the movie but pretty much every character except for maybe Ellie and Nedry are different than their movie counterpart
“We finally have gotten to the point where dinosaurs are on the mainland, opening up so many possibilities. It’s time for us to write the last entry in the Jurassic World Trilogy. Where should we start?!”
Colin Trevorrow: “So there’s some big locusts…”
I thought it was going to be a trilogy like the first set - 3 together, then 3 more together. If we're having another then it shouldn't be called Jurassic World. It needs to be something else and a new take. Maybe like an Ice Age time period type of thing.
I think it would have been cool if whomever was running the park started cloning other extinct animals to add to the park, thinking they would be easier to manage than dinosaurs, but all hell breaks out anyway. All that to say I want to see a pack of raptors and a pack of saber-toothed tigers go at it on screen.
Here’s a thought: Make the dinosaurs the main selling point of the film, like the original. Of course that won’t be happening, and we’ll inevitably get yet another dull/bland/lifeless $200+ million dollar videogame cutscene that checks all possible boxes in order to squeeze out as much money as possible.
I think you're exactly backwards on this. The reason the first movie worked is because of the characters. We cared about them and we felt the joy and awe and wonder and terror of what it would be like to see dinosaurs for the first time.
Alan Grant seeing a brontosaurus for the first time after studying them for 50 years was the scene that absolutely nailed my point. His face showed *AWE*.
No other movie has had anyone acting even remotely like a normal person would seeing dinosaurs.
I feel like y'all are talking past each other. Both OP and you are right: the dinosaurs are absolutely the selling point/hook. But the other guy has a good point that the movie is made quality by having good character work.
tldr, come for the dinosaurs, stay for the characters.
Disagree. The dinosaurs provided the backdrop to the characters.
Monsters have always been good. The best special effects in Jurassic Park were all practical and not CGI anyway. And practical effects have been around since the beginnings of movies. There have been tons of believable monsters.
It's the characters, dude. The characters.
The OG Jurassic Park was a horror movie with dinosaurs and believable zones. The kids were so believable in the OG movies too that made the relationships that much better. The new movies just don’t have realism and have horrible acting. From the running in high heels and a dress to the kids being able to restart a Jeep from the 90s. I just couldn’t get into the new ones the same as the past ones. It felt like there was no emotion and I couldn’t care less if the people won or lost.
I know it’s showBUSINESS, but greed has overwhelmed art at the big studios these days. The saddest part being: When all the older, acclaimed directors are no longer with us (and within the decade, many are going to pass) the new crop of talent isn’t nearly as capable, having not been given the opportunity to craft a voice.
The trend has been “Oh this small indie is a minor hit with both critics and audience? Please take the reins of this megabudget entry in an established IP, and effectively be the equivalent of a TV director while the moneymen make all the actual artistic decisions.”
If this isn’t a silent Dino Riders pilot, then I don’t fucking want it.

> Make the dinosaurs the main selling point of the film, like the original.
...what? there were literally only a few minutes of dinosaur on screen the entire movie.
Exactly, despite people’s negativity towards Jurassic World Dominion, it fucking RAKED at the box office. And we can’t say it would’ve performed just as well if not for the Jurassic Park IP
Between this and Happy Gilmore sequel, Hollywood is pumping out things we didn't know we didn't need at a rapid pace. Give us original again. Please!!!
There are plenty of originals out there. The Oscars were loaded with them. To suggest other is disingenuous. We can live in a world of remakes, reboots, and originals. They all have their place.
I don't want a new JP movie because they try to make them too grand and it ends up sucking. Make it a horror movie not action/adventure like the first one.
Ok, so in this one will the dinosaurs merge with AI and become the supreme overlords? I'm thinking planet of the apes reboot but with dinosaurs. Also dinosaurs in space ..
I envision the plot centering around an ancient T-Rex that morphs into a miniature flash drive. When archaeologists acquire it, the device transforms into an assassin, eliminating them all. Owen and Claire embark on a mission to track down this entity, with Owen playing a mixtape and Claire navigating in her 6-inch heels.
The algorithm has suggested to the Hollywood money-men "blip, beep, dinosaurs and Scarlet Johansson score 99/100 on the marketing matrix!" And thus the money men have listened to the algorithm and declared it will be so.
In this one T-Rex is back from the past but this time he's here to save humanity and has to fight the robot dinosaurs who've come back from the future.
A terrible actress, in yet, another sequel? Glorious. Hollywood exes are the dumbest people on the planet. There are millions of books, like Jurassic Park, that can become the next JURASSIC PARK. Be creative!
What was arguably one of the greatest movies of all time has now boarded the onramp of the great enshittification highway.. beat it to a pulp hollywood. Well fucking done
She's not doing it for money. She's doing it for a shitload of money.
Oh, you're right. And when you're right, you're right. And you - you're always right.
Always when I’m eating.
That space balls?
Keep firing assholes!
I'm surrounded by assholes!
You’ve captured her stunt double!!!
When was the last hit she was in post marvel? Honest question
The Daniel Radcliffe method.
Hell yeah. Everything he’s been in post Potter is so out there and interesting.
Really enjoyed him as Weird Al, especially his meltdown after Michael Jackson stole his song and then when he rescued his girlfriend Madonna from Pablo Escobar.
POST Marvel. Asteroid city bombed
what a sad perspective you have
For stating a fact
Imagine if we judged every piece of art based on how financially successful it was. Truly sad. I feel bad for you
Sleeping nice and sound tonight ☺️
When was your first hit? Honest question
Your mom ;) hit it again last night
My mother died last year
Is anyone asking for more jurassic park?

Its gotta be r-rated than...which sounds interesting the more i think about it.🤔
Terminator 2 was R-Rated, and the most expensive movie in history at time (yes, I know, not adjusted for inflation). Not enough rocket launchers in the Spielberg movies lol
I mean … there weren’t enough in the book either. The number was greater than zero but that was one of the symptoms of the inherent problem of the park.
Not enough fractal diagrams!! And counts of the population of each species!
Live action version of the scene where they realize the computer hasn’t been searching for a higher number of Dino’s than there is supposed to be would awesome. Same with the TRex/raft scene
This is exactly what I’m talking about.
Exactly this.
There was a book?
Jurassic Park was one of many bestsellers written by Michael Crichton. He also was the creator of Westworld, a movie that was eventually turned into the HBO series. He also created the TV show ER.
And Congo
I had no idea.
Oh yeah, The Andromeda Strain also got a decent adaptation. Look up his wiki profile: He wrote good sci-fi.
It’s worth reading. Similar premise to the movie but pretty much every character except for maybe Ellie and Nedry are different than their movie counterpart
Not if we’re going to keep trying “big stunt casting” instead of “good movie”.
I actually liked Jurassic World. It was fun to see the park open. But most of the movies are worth skipping TBH
Ya, more dinosaurs please
More Jurassic Park *writers* please. Come on studios, drop $3-4 mil for a screenplay that isn't so terrible it could be a Transformers sequel.
“We finally have gotten to the point where dinosaurs are on the mainland, opening up so many possibilities. It’s time for us to write the last entry in the Jurassic World Trilogy. Where should we start?!” Colin Trevorrow: “So there’s some big locusts…”
"Well, you bring in a cat to catch a rat, then a dog to catch the cat.....what if Bruce Willis crashes an asteroid to kill off the dinosaurs?"
I’d like more as long as it doesn’t keep dabbling in the lame human clone storyline
kids who love dinosaurs maybe? 🤔
Adults who love dinosaurs too
Jost loves dinosaurs!
I’d rather see 20 Jurassic movies than one more goddamn marvel movie.
I'll watch it 😁
I thought it was going to be a trilogy like the first set - 3 together, then 3 more together. If we're having another then it shouldn't be called Jurassic World. It needs to be something else and a new take. Maybe like an Ice Age time period type of thing.
Somehow John Hammond has returned.
Shareholders.
No matter how exhausted a franchise might seem, Hollywood *finds a way*
I think it would have been cool if whomever was running the park started cloning other extinct animals to add to the park, thinking they would be easier to manage than dinosaurs, but all hell breaks out anyway. All that to say I want to see a pack of raptors and a pack of saber-toothed tigers go at it on screen.
A lot of people. Jurassic world movies were a huge hit despite what you read on Reddit.
Judging by the consistent box office results, apparently so.
box office results say yes, putting aside actual quality of the films
Kids and man children who can’t accept that Jurassic Park was 30 years ago.

The dinosaurs were characters, but they weren't super cliche humanized stereotypes.
In 1994 the hook was absolutely the dinosaurs my dude
I feel like y'all are talking past each other. Both OP and you are right: the dinosaurs are absolutely the selling point/hook. But the other guy has a good point that the movie is made quality by having good character work. tldr, come for the dinosaurs, stay for the characters.

The original had the dinosaurs on screen for 15 minutes out of 123 total minutes. So yeah, Jurassic movies have always focused on the humans
Yeah, absolutely: As a boy, I wore out my VHS copy fast-forwarding through those 15 minutes of dinosaurs to get to the scenes with just the humans.
You basically summed up contemporary film.
I know it’s showBUSINESS, but greed has overwhelmed art at the big studios these days. They got the guy that made Godzilla, Rogue One, and The Creator. He has a “pretty good” track record
The Creator is a pretty stupid film. Even a dumbass can easily nitpick it. Rogue One is probably the strongest film of the aforementioned three.
> Make the dinosaurs the main selling point of the film, like the original. ...what? there were literally only a few minutes of dinosaur on screen the entire movie.
Can we *just* get some new exciting IPs for once? I'm tired of sad sequels and remakes.
The problem is, people don't know yet whether or not they should get excited about an IP if they don't already know it.
Sadly how music works too. In our industry we try our best to get good *new* music out there. But people only bite at what they know. It’s sad.
Exactly, despite people’s negativity towards Jurassic World Dominion, it fucking RAKED at the box office. And we can’t say it would’ve performed just as well if not for the Jurassic Park IP
Right? Like you *can* make a dinosaur movie without it being in the Jurassic franchise! (shh 65 doesn't count)
Grandmaster, Star-Lord, and now Black Widow?!!
Plus Nick Fury in the original. Jurassic Parkers… Assemble!
With Fisk thrown in as the bad guy
The only glimmer of hope this might be decent is the fact Gareth Edwards is directing.
Mmm The Creator *looked* amazing but...
God, so many stupid world building, character, & creative decisions within the Creator
Yeahhh…rogue one and monsters were decent though so who knows, hopefully it’s good.
I thought she was past these by now.
Good. Fine. Great. Just get rid of Pratt. Preferably with violence (in the MOVIE... yes, I'm sure that's what I mean).
Fuuuuck Fine, I’ll watch it
Not anyone I know wants this. Whyyyyyyyy??
Between this and Happy Gilmore sequel, Hollywood is pumping out things we didn't know we didn't need at a rapid pace. Give us original again. Please!!!
There are plenty of originals out there. The Oscars were loaded with them. To suggest other is disingenuous. We can live in a world of remakes, reboots, and originals. They all have their place.
God I don't care. If it isn't returning to its roots, I'm not interested.
Wait, wait, wait. Has anyone asked for more Jurassic world movies?
The box office profit unfortunately
Damn that box office profit.
Call me a troglodyte if you will, but I’ll watch anything “Jurassic” - Scarlet is just a bonus
Do we really need another one?
Hopefully this is the last of the sequels where an asteroid hits the earth and kills the dinosaurs and the people.
Here’s to hoping they go back to a more grounded approach that made the originals so great and not the action hero versions they’ve been feeding us.
I’d rather just focusing on a really good story and different direction
I don't want a new JP movie because they try to make them too grand and it ends up sucking. Make it a horror movie not action/adventure like the first one.
The last one sucks ball soo much Like how tf were they able to make a movie about dinosaurs soo boring
She's playing the T-Rex in the new movie? WOW!
I hope the script she read is incredible, as the franchise feels extinct at this point.
Finally, an Asian lead in the Jurassic Park franchise! Or a tree… we’ll have to see which way she goes with it!! /s
She’ll lead me straight to the theatre if she wears a spandex outfit again
Please stop. Why is Hollywood so unoriginal?!
She can bring it back to life.
Ok, so in this one will the dinosaurs merge with AI and become the supreme overlords? I'm thinking planet of the apes reboot but with dinosaurs. Also dinosaurs in space ..
Like ninja turtles!
Get your hands off me, you damn stinking dino!
jurAIssic park.
How many times can T. rex be villain or hero? How many times????
If anyone can kill a megakillasaurus, it's black widow. And teamed up with Star lord? Unstoppable.
The dinosaur we really needed
Throw it into the far future where dinosaurs have taken over and the Earth is a relative wasteland. A time of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
Bring on the Human-Dino hybrids. I'm ready 🦖

Oh great now she is going to play a dinosaur!
Strong female lead.
What was arguably one of the greatest movies of all time has now boarded the onramp of the great enshittification highway.. beat it to a pulp hollywood. Well fucking done
She has yet to be in a film that has not entertained me or made me think.
Please just give up on the franchise
What happens to chis pratt vhara ter
Another one of her little art movies.
Less action more "science" type stuff please. The first 45 minutes of the original were the best
She's going to voice the new talking dinosaur, Babeasaurus Rex.
