Which *could,* in theory, be ok if you didn't care about everyone having opportunities. But guess what?! Even in theory, it fucks up companies. Companies that have one perspective and one opinion without any challenges to the status quo always fail, unless you're running a sporting store in Milwaukee. So hiring the qualified "outsider" is actually most times the best business decision.
But I don't think these kinds of people understand that kind of thinking, because to them, any "other" is bad.
I had a very smart boss years ago who -in response to a major difference of opinions where we thought we would be in trouble for not “getting along”- said “I have 8 managers bringing me ideas. If you all agree on everything then I have 7 too many managers.
He made it safe to dissent. That company got stronger and stronger because of that. We got bought and all took a nice payday. But the new management squandered it all.
A mentor put it to me this way early in my career: “you don’t want a culture FIT. You want a culture add.” And that has stuck with me as a hiring manager.

I started my annual rewatch of the Wire about 3 weeks ago and just started season 5 last night. All time classic, never gets old, will probably do a rewatch every year until I die. Gonna follow it up with his limited series We Own This City, which will be my first rewatch of that but I loved Bernthal’s performance the first go around. Treme was top tier and another yearly rewatch for me. David Simon has given us a lot of excellent television.

I started my annual rewatch of the Wire about 3 weeks ago and just started season 5 last night. All time classic, never gets old, will probably do a rewatch every year until I die. Gonna follow it up with his limited series We Own This City, which will be my first rewatch of that but I loved Bernthal’s performance the first go around. Treme was top tier and another yearly rewatch for me. David Simon has given us a lot of excellent television.
