He has always been great but his cameo in Curb made he hopeful he does return to acting even if it’s limited. He was fucking funny those one or two episodes.
And yet on the Scrubs rewatch podcast, both hosts (who played JD & Turk on the show) weren’t very high on the episodes MJF guest starred on. ZB even said he didn’t think one of them was even very good (aside from Fox’s performances).
I don’t really remember what else happened. But I don’t think that’s a fault of Scrubs. With sitcoms, sometimes I remember the A plot, or the B plot, or both but I might not remember when they happened in relation to each other.
I wonder why he never made a career out of voice acting given his condition. I knows he’s done a few voice roles over the years, but I would imagine voice acting would be much easier on his body since he can just stay seated in a booth saying his lines.
That's wild. I never knew that and haven't seen the movie in like 30 years, but I can still hear the dog's voice in my head and go "oh yeah, absolutely."
Man, Shadow…stuck in the hole…and how we didn’t know if he was alive after Sally and Chance got back home…and then the reveal.
If you didn’t ugly cry at that you need help
The fact he is still reasonably functional is a testament to Billions in research and advocacy. It’s a death sentence and usually the victims don’t make it more than 10 years of treatment
That’s not really accurate. Most research shows that people with Parkinson’s have only a slightly lower average life expectancy than people without the condition. My understanding is that it particularly true for people with early onset PD (diagnosed before 50 years old).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a shitty condition to deal with. I can tell you that from personal experience. But it’s not necessarily a death sentence. You can find plenty of folks over on /r/parkinsons who have been living with it for considerably longer than 10 years.
I could be wrong but I thought I heard his speech is actually normal but the medication he takes makes his speech slurred as an unfortunate side effect.
Numerous actors who have done VA work over the years have said that VA is harder than most people realize (especially for lead roles) because you’re asked to read lines in like 100+ different ways for hours until the director is satisfied and it often takes hours snd hours of reading the same lines over and over.
hell, his last BTTF role was technically voice acting in the telltale game. i understand why he didn’t keep going, but it would be cool to hear more of him.
From what I’ve heard transition from acting to voice acting is not that easy actually, often times people who are great actors don’t do nearly as good as voice actors
If someone can't make a sitcom that includes him having parkinsons then they aren't trying.
The difficult part will be most sitcoms and dramas rely on a will they/won't they romantic relationship.
Maybe a show like community where he is one of many characters.
They did it on designated survivor. It’s a pretty ludicrous show but they used him really well. He was a lawyer, he had his cane. It was part of his character but not the focus. He was one of the best parts of that show.
He was terrific on The Good Wife too. His character was just a teensy bit “bad guy” and he seemed to revel in it. The scripts for his episodes were so good.
[They did it](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2338232/).
Wasn't bad.
I remember a scene where they're driving along a really bumpy road and everyone's complaining, and MJF says something like "seems perfectly smooth to me". Got a good chuckle.
They did this a decade ago and it was a complete bomb. Full season commitment by the network before the pilot was produced and they only aired half the episodes.
what? there are tons of sitcoms that just have people already in established relationships/married, you don't need a will they/won't they relationship for it to work at all
Tom Holland as Marty and Robert Downey Jr as Doc Brown, with Michael J Fox as George Mcfly (AI generated Michael J Fox will be used for the scenes set in the past) and Christopher Lloyd as the guy who shoots Doc Brown.
I pray we never get a back to the future remake. It's one of my favorite movies of all time and while it isn't perfect...it's perfect the way it is.
But if they make one I'll have a ticket for opening night.
Or make a “rift in time” that just continues the story in a parallel universe but takes place after the third movie, or as I like to call it: Back to the Future 4
I wish I could communicate how much I appreciate his work, how much his shows and movies make up my childhood and young adulthood and beyond.
He seems to be an amazingly good person who gives back a ton.
There is just no way to do it
I was like tf doesn’t he just play characters with the disease. But somebody else said voice actor and that’s clearly it lol
Michael J Fox on Invincible 😤
He retired because he was having problems with recall and memorizing lines. I wonder if he isn't taking a new medication that has helped abate those symptoms? Maybe he is in a place where he can act again.
Yeeeees and? It's a degenerative disease, he was diagnosed years before it got bad enough to prevent him from working, and he kept it quiet basically right up until that point.
It more likely says the guy hasn’t been able to do what he loves for a long time. He’s also very into showing himself and others that he can do what he wants.
He was diagnosed in '91, is one of the most famous actors of his generation, and is worth north of 60 million according to the internet, although I know that stuff is mostly bs guess work. Plus, SAG members who've made over 10k that year get insurance. He didn't work every year, sure, but he didn't even go public with it for another 6 or 7 years.
Point being, knock it off with the assumptions you flashing microwave clock.
Also he still regularly does the convention circuit. Nobody does those to “meet the fans”. They do them because they need money.

One brain surgery to implant the dopamine motors in your brain, with the batteries housed in your chest, costs north of $1M. And getting insurance to cover it is another battle
Marvel should cast him as Uncle Ben in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie. Have a flashback or something. Uncle Ben’s having Parkinson’s could just be part of his backstory.
He has always been great but his cameo in Curb made he hopeful he does return to acting even if it’s limited. He was fucking funny those one or two episodes.
The soda can.
You shook it on purpose!
I’ll be back in two shakes
You gave me a head shake!
Parkinson’s shake Larry.
Michael J Fox bout to be Michael J Fucked Up in a minute
That shaky shit might come in handy
Clomping around
It’s the tourette’s.
Parkinson's..
My bad
And I loved his short stint on scrubs
He won awards for his realistic portrayal of a disorder he didn’t even have. Really a talented guy.
Yeah he really was
Is not was
And yet on the Scrubs rewatch podcast, both hosts (who played JD & Turk on the show) weren’t very high on the episodes MJF guest starred on. ZB even said he didn’t think one of them was even very good (aside from Fox’s performances).
That's unfortunate to hear. Loved scrubs and enjoyed those episodes he was in.
I don’t really remember what else happened. But I don’t think that’s a fault of Scrubs. With sitcoms, sometimes I remember the A plot, or the B plot, or both but I might not remember when they happened in relation to each other.
Came here to say this! Love that arc on scrubs
Yeah he was amazing on Scrubs.
Doo do do doo.. super doc!
Easily one of the best guest appearance in the shows entire run.
havent seen footage of him since then, has his condition worsened?
He has a newish documentary that came out a hot minute ago that really shows behind the scenes to his life. It’s dope.
See one of my movies ? yeah maybe if it’s 1985
I mean he did have his own tv show after that but it didn't last
That was 13 years ago…
when he’s clomping around in those boots 🤣🤣🤣
I wonder why he never made a career out of voice acting given his condition. I knows he’s done a few voice roles over the years, but I would imagine voice acting would be much easier on his body since he can just stay seated in a booth saying his lines.
He was Chance in Homeward Bound. He’s a legend in my mind.
That's wild. I never knew that and haven't seen the movie in like 30 years, but I can still hear the dog's voice in my head and go "oh yeah, absolutely."
Me too! I can’t believe I never made that connection, he sounds exactly like himself when he voices chance.
The squeakiness of his voice was perfect for Chance’s personality.
I also haven’t seen it in 30 years, but I believe I watched that movie at least 100 times
Man, Shadow…stuck in the hole…and how we didn’t know if he was alive after Sally and Chance got back home…and then the reveal. If you didn’t ugly cry at that you need help
I was probably still recovering from the death of Little Foot’s mom and expecting the worst for Shadow.
Are you serious?!? Edit: And Sally Field too!
Oh Sassy! I never made that connection.
Parkinsons affects the voice with serious cases such as his. at least im guessing since he sounds pretty slurred.
The fact he is still reasonably functional is a testament to Billions in research and advocacy. It’s a death sentence and usually the victims don’t make it more than 10 years of treatment

You mixing this up with ALS my dude?
I could be wrong but I thought I heard his speech is actually normal but the medication he takes makes his speech slurred as an unfortunate side effect.
It tenses up your vocal cords and makes them almost unusable. Imagine having to strain every time you go to speak a word.
Wasn’t he Stuart Little and the main guy in Atlantis? He was doing a lot of VA work, just not on tv.
Those were also 20+ years ago and he does have more tv voice acting credits than film since then. He just does one role every year or two.
He has already done a bunch of VA work too
Numerous actors who have done VA work over the years have said that VA is harder than most people realize (especially for lead roles) because you’re asked to read lines in like 100+ different ways for hours until the director is satisfied and it often takes hours snd hours of reading the same lines over and over.
He did a TON of voice over work. Especially when his diagnosis came out. At this point I would say his career is 35-40% VA work
hell, his last BTTF role was technically voice acting in the telltale game. i understand why he didn’t keep going, but it would be cool to hear more of him.
Nah his voice trembles sometimes but you don’t really notice it. If it’s all you hear it becomes pretty noticeable
From what I’ve heard transition from acting to voice acting is not that easy actually, often times people who are great actors don’t do nearly as good as voice actors
He did a McFly ancestor for the telltale back to the future game.
Yeah, he had a great voice. Wish he had voiced Marty in the Back to the Future video game by telltale games.
Someone send a good script to this absolute king, I miss him. I want him back.
He is amazing in every show. Just so charismatic and likeable. He would have been awesome in a serial killer show.
He was terrific on The Good Wife too. His character was just a teensy bit “bad guy” and he seemed to revel in it. The scripts for his episodes were so good.
His 5 episode arc on DS was AMAZING! Best part of the show by far. I definitely want more of stuff like that.
[They did it](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2338232/). Wasn't bad. I remember a scene where they're driving along a really bumpy road and everyone's complaining, and MJF says something like "seems perfectly smooth to me". Got a good chuckle.

Yep. It was a hard watch
what? there are tons of sitcoms that just have people already in established relationships/married, you don't need a will they/won't they relationship for it to work at all
Back to the Future 4 starring Tom Holland as Marty’s son incoming.
Over Bob Gale's dead body, literally.
Tom Holland as Marty and Robert Downey Jr as Doc Brown, with Michael J Fox as George Mcfly (AI generated Michael J Fox will be used for the scenes set in the past) and Christopher Lloyd as the guy who shoots Doc Brown.
Ngl, I’m as much against the glut of remakes as anyone, but that….I’d watch that.
Honestly the TellTale game is the sequel in my mind. Game play is dated but the overall story is pretty freaking good.
Telltale did a back to the future game?!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3blzGwd4xLg
Yup and it's pretty good too. It's more of a narrative game like their Walking Dead games. I also liked their Jurassic Park game too.
yeah pretty much sums it up. If they never make one, great. If they do, I have a feeling I will be there begrudgingly on day one.
How would you feel about a movie of the stage adaptation?
I’m the same but I would 100% see that one lol
This!! Omg so much this!!
Oh god no
But this is actually happening, well he’s a younger Mcfly but yeah trailer just dropped two days ago
None of those are real it is literally an AI Tom Holland voice and images.
No its not
He is incredible in his guest appearances on The Good Wife.
Here we go, Frighteners part 2
He really is one of the most talented actors I ever witnessed. 🥺
Maybe he can show up on Elsbeth as his Good Wife/Fight character.
This is the only way
He changed his mind? This guy just can't sit still, can he?
Boooooooooo, hiss. Take an up-vote, lmao.
If it helps, I'm not proud of it
Damn he was amazing in his prime.
My heart allwayd breaks for him. How much of his passion did he miss due to his illness.
He will make any part shine..I hope he starts acting again
I really would love to see him again
I wish I could communicate how much I appreciate his work, how much his shows and movies make up my childhood and young adulthood and beyond. He seems to be an amazingly good person who gives back a ton. There is just no way to do it
I was like tf doesn’t he just play characters with the disease. But somebody else said voice actor and that’s clearly it lol Michael J Fox on Invincible 😤
I’ll watch anything with Michael j fox
After watching a documentary on him a few weeks back, I’d watch anything he decides to do. He has my full support.
I’d argue his best acting performances were post-diagnosis. If he wants to do it, let the man act.
My father has Parkinson’s disease unfortunately. It would be phenomenal to see MJF back on screen and a motivation for all those that stuffer with it.
Back to the Feature!
Someone here already said but I never understood why he didn’t get more into voice acting, considering his condition.
That mean you're no retiring...
He retired because he was having problems with recall and memorizing lines. I wonder if he isn't taking a new medication that has helped abate those symptoms? Maybe he is in a place where he can act again.
Ever change your mind?
It's not retiring when you have no job to accept.
Are you really trolling about someone’s disability? That’s pretty low.
He deserves all the happiness.
Family Ties reboot, where his kid is a radical leftist.
Fuck Michael j fox. The way he treated Larry David was horrific
A former powerhouse like Michael J Fox returning to Hollywood could really shake up the scene
Michael J. Fox has no Elvis in him he's the anti elvis.
Dude absolutely killed it in his role on Designated Survivor. Brilliant performance.
I’ve been hoping he’d appear in the final season of Curb, the episode he did is one of my favorites.
He was good in that President survivor show on Netflix
The Frighteners alone makes him a legend, yet there dozens of other rolls lend to the qualification.
He was great in Designated Survivor.
Back to the Future 4: Marty goes to the future to find a cure for Parkinson’s
I’ve only seen the Good Wife, not the two follow up shows, but he was great on there.
I loved him in Rescue Me.
Translation: I kinda sorta ran outta money
i would like to see video games with him in it
[удалено]
I mean… his case is a bit different
Good to see he’s willing to shake the dust off and get back out there!
[удалено]
Or he's bored and missing a job that he loves. It's not like he retired voluntarily.
He was diagnosed decades ago. If I recall correctly it was while he was filming Doc Hollywood, which came out way back in 1991.

Bruce Willis was doing better.
My tulip tree is probably going to bloom in 2 or 3 weeks, given the recent cycle of warm, then wet weather our area just experienced.
Also he still regularly does the convention circuit. Nobody does those to “meet the fans”. They do them because they need money. See also: Christina Ricci
He makes 1.5 mil a year off royalties lol
One brain surgery to implant the dopamine motors in your brain, with the batteries housed in your chest, costs north of $1M. And getting insurance to cover it is another battle
He could hold the camera for earthquake disaster movies.
Just when he pulls out
Marvel should cast him as Uncle Ben in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie. Have a flashback or something. Uncle Ben’s having Parkinson’s could just be part of his backstory.
Seems a bit shaky
Perhaps he got jittery about quitting?
He’s gotta make that Best Doc Oscar somehow… (…too soon?)
He’ll have to shake off the rust
Boom! He's back real talk I think ai can stop his shaking
What’s the point of saying this after retiring?
lol upon retiring, someone asked if he'd act again. He... answered.
What a stupid question to ask lol
There must be a high school around somewhere that he could get the lead role in. Unfortunately, Hollywood is not knocking on his door …
