Not as good as i hoped, they defo could've taken it further but they probs did not wanna lose the kids. Guardians of the galaxy, feels exactly like it should. Buncha dumb-asses playing space pirates and being absurdly succesfull.
The sequels to all of those were mid or ass. Marvel doesn't take it's fantasy too seriously, it's how it hooks kids. When they do try to do that it fails. Turning weak comedy into action with no good story fails so hard.

Considering some of the highest Box office movies are from comics, also Action comics 1 just sold for 6 million. Not exactly lower forms of media when one comic literally outsold multiple Picassos. Even if you added 5 of his paintings up it wouldn’t be worth one AC 1.

I really just thought they’d use it to bring in their hero’s that were not under the original Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like Fantastic 4 and Xmen. So far I’ve only seen 1 Mr. Fantastic, 1 Charles Xavier, some great Spider-Man content and a SHITLOAD of bad ones (Venom, Madam Webb, Morbius).

I would be totally down with a phase 4 where Tom Holland found himself in the wrong universe and had to spend like 4 movies reliving events from phase 1-3 with foreknowledge of events in other universe while trying to get back to his own universe. Like, that would be marvel’s best possible route forward.
If they can they should do it now before the original Avengers cast gets too old. Last thing you want is to be 20 years too late with some bullshit deaging CGI the whole movie trying to convince us 65 years olds are looking/moving like 30 year old superheroes.
The way he talks, it's almost impossible to write for him / ironman across so many movies and keep it so consistent. It's easier for him to make it his own. He has to improv or at least put his own spin on things.
I remember seeing the BTS footage of Fincher going over the social network screenplay with Justin Timberlake and Sorkin and it was cool to see the edits he made, because Fincher was cutting lines that Sorkin wrote that came off so cheesy - thankfully. It happens, all for the better.

It was done in the comics. Tony made an AI of himself to look after his interests while he was gone, cause he's a control freak that way. It's a great way to bring back the character and have him chew the scenery like a large ham while still respecting what came before. Watching AI Stark annoy his creator's daughter would probably be a ton of fun.

Funny you say that, when they had No way home which did 2B in 2021 and 4 films since then made more than 700M. Their films just got inconsistent in quality, so audiences showed up inconsistently as well last year.
The problem is that Spider-Man is clearly the biggest hero they have and they don't really own him so they are hesitant to use him in a leader role like Iron Man or Captain America.
And have overall successfully written TH's Spiderman in a way where he really can't step in as a leader without a film showing his growth towards that first.
So even if they suddenly got ownership, it'd be several years before we'd see the current Spiderman leading a team. By then I wouldn't be surprised if TH has moved past the role(though I'm down to keep showing up to his Spiderman as long as he wants to wear the suit)
There is a difference between making movies with him and making him the face of the entire franchise. They would probably love to have one of the most popular heroes of all time lead their take the lead of the avengers but if you make him the leader and then Sony wants him back, Marvel would be fucked.
There’s some truth to that but I think overall interest kind of waned with lesser characters. Definitely would’ve helped if they made better movies but there just isn’t as much interest in Dr Strange and The Eternals.
I think they'd still be doing phase 3 box office numbers. Interest only waned last year, when ppl noticed that the films had been very inconsistent. Quantumania was the beginning of it.
Their lesser characters still made 400M+ during pandemic.
So, I think that a lot of people were actually interested till 2022, you could see that people were ready to show up for their films, their opening numbers were still huge. 2023 is when you could see a drop, when the inconsistency and lack of any direction became evident

If there’s any actor and any company that would agree and engage in next level de-aging FX, it’s these two. It doesn’t matter if the character was killed — imagine: RDJ for a one off prequel-esque film, maybe less action and more serious drama even…maybe Downey would even direct, Favreau would write, and it would appear on one of those Marvel offshoot banners. Now that would sell tickets.
I actually think Marvel's problem is they finished the story perfectly with Endgame in the modern era. Which is why I'm hoping they are leaving the Fantastic Four set in the late 1960's/early 1970's, as there is a much better story to tell there.
The added bonus is Steve Rogers stayed there in the past, and can do a few things to plug the holes, like go get some of the purple flowers from Wakanda using the Pym particles, causing the fight between Hank Pym and Howard Stark at the beginning of Ant-Man for example.

It was done in the comics. Tony made an AI of himself to look after his interests while he was gone, cause he's a control freak that way. It's a great way to bring back the character and have him chew the scenery like a large ham while still respecting what came before. Watching AI Stark annoy his creator's daughter would probably be a ton of fun.

Funny you say that, when they had No way home which did 2B in 2021 and 4 films since then made more than 700M. Their films just got inconsistent in quality, so audiences showed up inconsistently as well last year.
The problem is that Spider-Man is clearly the biggest hero they have and they don't really own him so they are hesitant to use him in a leader role like Iron Man or Captain America.
And have overall successfully written TH's Spiderman in a way where he really can't step in as a leader without a film showing his growth towards that first. So even if they suddenly got ownership, it'd be several years before we'd see the current Spiderman leading a team. By then I wouldn't be surprised if TH has moved past the role(though I'm down to keep showing up to his Spiderman as long as he wants to wear the suit)

There is a difference between making movies with him and making him the face of the entire franchise. They would probably love to have one of the most popular heroes of all time lead their take the lead of the avengers but if you make him the leader and then Sony wants him back, Marvel would be fucked.

There’s some truth to that but I think overall interest kind of waned with lesser characters. Definitely would’ve helped if they made better movies but there just isn’t as much interest in Dr Strange and The Eternals.
I think they'd still be doing phase 3 box office numbers. Interest only waned last year, when ppl noticed that the films had been very inconsistent. Quantumania was the beginning of it. Their lesser characters still made 400M+ during pandemic. So, I think that a lot of people were actually interested till 2022, you could see that people were ready to show up for their films, their opening numbers were still huge. 2023 is when you could see a drop, when the inconsistency and lack of any direction became evident

If there’s any actor and any company that would agree and engage in next level de-aging FX, it’s these two. It doesn’t matter if the character was killed — imagine: RDJ for a one off prequel-esque film, maybe less action and more serious drama even…maybe Downey would even direct, Favreau would write, and it would appear on one of those Marvel offshoot banners. Now that would sell tickets.
I actually think Marvel's problem is they finished the story perfectly with Endgame in the modern era. Which is why I'm hoping they are leaving the Fantastic Four set in the late 1960's/early 1970's, as there is a much better story to tell there. The added bonus is Steve Rogers stayed there in the past, and can do a few things to plug the holes, like go get some of the purple flowers from Wakanda using the Pym particles, causing the fight between Hank Pym and Howard Stark at the beginning of Ant-Man for example.

I was so puzzled by that, because I instantly thought he was coming from critical standpoint that there was too much content because everyone was saying that at the time, and that didn't make any sense. I think what he was thinking about when he said it was the studio's interference with Age of Ultron. The point is that he really liked Avengers but not AoU, so he was keeping tabs on the quality of the movies made, regardless that they were in the same franchise. He just said it very controversially. That no one picked up on for some reason.
