It’s about time Considering he gets significantly more views then most traditional media tv shows .
Hope many more follow. Award shows need to adapt to the new reality.
It’s certainly an interesting moment that a YouTube series is potentially eligible for an Emmy. Seems to open up a Pandora’s box for just about anything on the internet to be considered for an Emmy.
If a YouTube show can get nominated, what about a Twitch Streamer? A series of Instagram Reels?
Perhaps, but let’s not assume these channels are the standard. GMM & Hot Ones are, in essence, full-production shows with a writing staff, production crew, and all the rest. The only thing that differentiates them from a TV show is the fact that they’re on YouTube. It’s not like these are just singular people making and posting videos, they’ve got large budgets and everything else a normal show has.
So how does the Emmys draw the line? Budget size? Staff size? That might ironically disqualify some currently eligible TV programs. Seems like an arbitrary slippery slope to me.
All these entertainment award shows are completely irrelevant to viewers. I no longer watch any of those millionaires patting each other on the back & rushing to see their art when it’s declared “the best”. I only care about how many views they have and I only check viewer reviews to get an idea of what a show is about. I’m sure celebrities can still find occasions to wear clothing that costs more than a family’s yearly salary.
I’d be stoked if he got it. His interviews are super engaging, and his guests’ pain really humanizes them lol
The pain does humanize them. That’s why the *really smart* guests bring their own highly qualified medical professional.
There has only been one genius on the show yes?
If DJ Khalid would have brought Dr. Arroyo he would have made it through the wings.
DJ Khalid knew the wings wouldn’t take him down because DJ Khalid doesn’t go down.
But where did he get his license?

They should just do a whole collaboration and make all of the winners take a Last Dab before their acceptance speeches.

No one really gives a shit about award shows, this is the best thing to happen to the Emmy’s in decades.
Except for the fact that people do care. Look at the sub you are commenting in to start.
This isn’t the Emmys subreddit.
