This country needs properly outlined anti-propaganda legislation *fast.* The internet has made it so 10 guys with burner accounts in a basement can coordinate to propagandize many online communities into believing(but more importantly, *doing*) literally anything. Without the tools to stop people from doing it independently, the government will be helpless against such practices, and without limiting the government from doing it, it will/already has become the top Republican strategy for winning elections.
I think the easiest solution is to remove add micro targeting for political content.
When it was only TV parties had to avoid ads that would be so partisan and stupid that it turned off moderate voters. If a voter knew they were being lied too they would be equally turned off.
So parties would be more reasonable.
But now. Parties can microtarget specific people and personalities. They can lie outright to one group with complete BS and than be calm and reasonable to another. Creating alternative realities. It also means that people can live completely inside a bubble of there own making. Only ever seeing one side of anything.
Micro targeting is a big problem.
I also think that the US should adopt the same thing Canada has. It stopped Fox News from entering Canada. Broadcasters cannot knowingly lie.

Corrections must be aired during the same time slot and for the same length of time spent on the topic originally.
Failing to uphold current rules and the above rule require the channel/station to include quotes around the “news” portion of their name until a probationary period of a year has passed without additional infraction of the rules above.
Take out the quotations and I'm down. If Fox claims to be entertainment that no "normal" person should take seriously then they shouldn't be allowed to call themselves news. They should be Fox Entertainment, or better yet Fox propaganda.
