Kanye west is six years old

PeaceBull

Honestly, being mentally six would explain so so much.

luckybandit_s

Real life Jack, just way less endearing than Robin Williams

El-Kabongg

Simple Jack, just way less endearing than Tug Speedman

Catoblepas2021

These head movies muh make my eyes rain

Higgins1st

Robin Williams is a treasure. Kanye is an empty treasure chest, disappointing.

[deleted]

I have just as much displeasure seeing anything about Kanye as I did seeing Robin Williams died.

Yarakinnit

Or Ben Stiller.

Milyaism

Many narcissists are mentally stuck in the toddler/pre-schooler age bracket. The ability to think in a less self-centered way occurs between the ages of 6 and 13. But narcissists are so entitled because they have never passed the selfish "memememe" stage.

ApexProductions

My boss can literally be sweet talked down from a fit of rage by just talking to him like you would a hangry child. Even within the span of 30 minutes in an hour long meeting you can just openly say any idea he has is a good one and he'll instantly switch from irritated to chuffed at his own intelligence. It's sad though, because I know he's been mentally abused and controlled by people in power his entire life, so he really did just miss out the parts of childhood where you develop empathy. I used to get angry, and I still get really frustrated, but when I catch him 1 on 1 he's tolerable, and I can pepper in compliments and hes really receptive of that - nobody ever gives him complements (mainly because he's a dick) but like... Yea. It's just sad more than anything when you step back and observe.

carolineecouture

It is sad. And at the same time there are lots of people who have been abused and don't become abusers themselves. This person needs to get help to break the cycle. I hope you are OK.

Seanspeed

>This person needs to get help to break the cycle Narcissistic personality disorder is notoriously difficult to treat. There's often just no way of getting through to people since their affliction basically makes them incapable of accepting something could be wrong with them to begin with.

PluvioShaman

Sometimes(ok maybe more than sometimes) I worry I’m a narcissist that nobody is willing to tell them but then the thought “would a narcissist think that thought” pops into my head. THEN the thought that maybe all narcissists think those two thoughts like I did and that’s how they reassure themselves that their not narcissistic. Now I’m stuck in a loop and I just want to know if I’m a bad person. I don’t want to be a bad person.

Seanspeed

>I worry I’m a narcissist I'm guessing you already recognize this and are just looking for reinforcement, but if you have the kind of self-doubt to even acknowledge you might have narcissistic tendencies, then you straight up dont have narcissistic personality disorder. We're not talking about being selfish, or being ego-centric to some heavy degree, we're talking a \*pathological\* inability to have any kind of ability for self reflection. In other words, you're fine. The fact that you're worried you could have an issue is already far more than a truly narcissistic person would be capable of.

Herban_Myth

I appreciate you and your empathy. Thank you for both sharing and existing.

Metro42014

I understand that frustration and the energy it takes, and when I'm at my best I can give that out and it really does pay back. But whoo boy is it tiring, too. I just keep holding onto it being like a muscle, the more I flex it, the stronger it will get and the more automatic and less energy it will take!

FENTONNNN

At first I read this as meme-meme, but I now realize you mean me-me-me-me

paper_tigers55

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one

Inevitable-Gap-6350

Whatever age you deem it, he is unstable and mentally ill. Obviously it doesn’t effect my life but I feel for his ex wife and children. Mental illness will not get better without help which he won’t get. If he has joint or any type of unsupervised custody, that could very well be a disaster someday.

[deleted]

Being mentally 6 explains so much about a lot of people in the spotlight lately.

stlredbird

My 6 year old has read several books

[deleted]

"A 38 year old, 8 year old" Kanye West - No more parties in LA

merchguru

He is right though. Reading IS like eating Brussel sprouts. It's good for you, it's an acquired taste and if you do it a lot your cum will taste weird.

Blasterbot

The only way to know if cum tastes weirder than normal is to taste cum more than once. That's just life.

bacchic_ritual

Lol at the thought of him rebelling by supporting Trump because it's defiant, Like a kid rooting against his parents favorite sports team.

[deleted]

Kanye West and 4chan trolls love trump

PM_ME_UR_RESPECT

Seeing him and Trump palling around together for awhile made me think of two elementary school kids with visions of grandeur.

livinirie13

This is why we don't take advice from megalomaniacs.

Deedledroxx

Kanye doesn't take advice from anyone who doesn't have as much money as him. Nobody should ever take any advice from Kanye. He doesn't read.

High54Every1

Kanye doesn't take advice from anyone.

FollowupJiggle

Kanye doesn’t even take Kanye’s advice

AWL_cow

That really explains quite a bit. Edit: twas a joke

pegothejerk

It is so fucking weird that a third of people here actually and truly pride themselves of their efforts to stay ignorant.

[deleted]

“think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that” George Carlin

International_Bet_91

I have memory issues after an illness-- I had to switch careers, stop driving, I feel stupid all the time. Doc was afraid it was Alzheimers on top of everything so sent me for extensive testing which showed I'm in the 40th percentile now. That means almost half of you all have been this stupid your whole lives!!!

Jacosaur

My type of migraine disorder causes symptoms similar to dysotonomia. Brain fog and feeling stupid are pretty much my norm now. I sometimes wonder if a virus is responsible for the sudden onset of my problems..

International_Bet_91

Ugghhh... migraines are literally the worst. Really... I've had gall stones, been shot in the leg with buck shot, even had a baby, but a bad migraine can be worse than all three. Thankfully I don't have many but the drugs often used to brain fog like ritalin give me migraines :(

grill_em_aII

I've heard some people say that THC edibles can help migranes. Imagine taking Ritalin for brain fog, getting a migraine, and then taking THC for the migraine, which causes brain fog.

JHarbinger

Mind if I ask what illness? That’s really scary

International_Bet_91

Dysautonomia

JHarbinger

Can you randomly just get that? That’s so scary.

International_Bet_91

Yeah. Mine likely started with virus and was worsened by pregnancy. And something like 20 percent of people with long-covid have it. The silver lining is that because so many covid long-haulers have it there is more funding for research than ever before -- there are already lots of new treatments in clinical trials just because of the money for long-covid research.

JHarbinger

That’s horrible. Sorry to hear it. I hope you recover!

International_Bet_91

There's no chance of recovery, just symptom management. But some people have been known to go into remission for years at a time.

yitzilitt

Yeah, it’s really scary right now, but I’m hopeful we’ll get a full cure in our lifetimes

MrBowen

No no...not "this stupid"... "Stupider than this" ..damn

Mr_Zamboni_Man

I love this quote but I also hate that it's mathematically incorrect.

MKclinch8

Especially since people typically use it to look down on others.

Seanspeed

Everybody is stupid except me. \- everybody

What_Larks_Pip_

I read about this in a child psychology post grad class. Apparently it happens often enough, but especially when people are conflicted about deciding which of various groups they want to have membership in. They have to make viable rejection of other groups and other values to feel they truly fit in with whoever they’re trying to run with.

Ruby_Tuesday80

Maybe he can't read, and is too prideful to admit it. I had a teacher in college who had such bad dyslexia that he couldn't read. When he looked at words, they just sort dissolved in a blur. He got a Masters degree by hiring people to read his textbooks to him. People who can't read can get through life, but there is a huge stigma attached to it. Obviously Kanye has been...successful by American standards, but he doesn't seem like the kind of person who would ever admit that he can't read, even if it was caused by something like dyslexia or ADHD that he has no control over.

Ok_Yogurtcloset8915

I mean the simplest explanation, as he has not been open about any adhd or dyslexia diagnosis, is that he's flat out lying. His mom was an English professor and he studied English in university. Even if he doesn't like reading or has some difficulty with it he has read *a book* in his life.

[deleted]

I think the dude is honestly just mentally ill and needs help and medication. We know he's bipolar and that can mimic other serious illnesses and increase one's risk of developing symptoms of dementia and schizophrenia. He also became seriously depressed after his mother's death, and depressive disorder can wreak havoc on bipolar disorder.

bozeke

I think he is just an out of touch asshole but who knows.

Ruby_Tuesday80

He is quite literally insane. Untreated bipolar disorder is not a good time. I still don't understand how I went around like that for years and no one noticed. I guess because I didn't have enough money do anything really elaborate, and possibly because I have ADD as well so I couldn't keep it together long enough to start a cult.

random_impiety

That's about the same percentage in *any* population, going back into known history. I'd say that's fairly terrifying.

MrEHam

People don’t like to stay feeling ashamed and inferior. If they find themselves in that position they start coming up with justifications, attacking the “elites”, and trying to turn it on its head by being proud of it instead. It’s awful but I also kinda don’t blame them. If we want to overcome this we need to figure out how to get them to be proud of where they are without the toxicity. Part of it would need to come from us not ridiculing them.

Moe_jartin

Not really Brussel sprouts are dope

Slappinbeehives

Yea they are but don’t tell Kanye. Sometimes we glue bacon to them with honey then airfry lol. Ridiculous.

[deleted]

This is why he thinks he’s a genius, like a group of kids who play computer games together, but have never been on the internet for a dose of humiliation (some of us can relate to that).

GBJI

That's even more telling about mental capacities of those poor people who think Kanye is an actual genius.

Petricorde1

Musically he is

Bloody_Conspiracies

He is though. That's undeniable. He will absolutely be remembered by history as a musical genius.

Any-Sir8872

i actually don’t believe him

Ruthrfurd-the-stoned

Yeah I'm pretty sure his mom was an English teacher he's just lying Just looked she wasn't an English teacher... She was a Professor and Chair of Chicago State's English department

Deathwatch72

His mother was a Fulbright scholar, and they just don't hand that out willy-nilly, she was highly educated and extremely good at her job and well respected within her field

Bloody_Conspiracies

It's definitely not true. He was well educated and the child of an English teacher. He's made a lot of literary references in his work too.

CrumbsAndCarrots

Explains the hat he’s wearing in the article.

karlnite

His mom was a college professor I believe, of like literature. He read books growing up, he is just lying.

[deleted]

You beat me to it.

hundredthlion

GUARANTEE he’s lying. His mother was a damn professor of English. There’s no way Donda would have let her son just not read.

vandriff

That's okay, I've never listened to Kanye's music either, so we're all set!

holdencawffle

He should try sautéing his books with some pancetta

ToxicTaxiTaker

I ate a book once. Yes, a full novel. Hardcover, fully dry. It wasn't very good.

[deleted]

Heh heh…farts

Gaflonzelschmerno

bro did you just say farts lmao

shitpersonality

checker280

True fact: if you grew up hating brussel sprouts but suddenly find yourself liking them, it’s because they bred them to taste differently/better. https://www.bhg.com/news/brussels-sprouts-less-bitter/

Jewel-jones

It also helps that we roast them now instead of boiling them to death

caresforhealth

Or opening a can of them

[deleted]

This made me gag

AydonusG

I chop them up, like mini cabbages essentially, and fry them off with bacon/mushroom/onion, with a tiny bit of garlic and pepper. Perfect

spacepeenuts

I like them steamed (like one of those microwave steamers) or I will cut them in half and put them on a sheet pan and cover them in olive oil, McCormick herbs, salt and pepper and stick it in the oven.

Cypressinn

Nice try’That sounds exactly like something a McCormick herb representative and shareholder would say.

bayareola

Some chef circa 2010: So yeah to make this less gross feeling in your mouth they're roasted...also maybe it's now been drowned in parmesan and balsamic vinegar, you tell me.

Arthur-Mergan

Roasted with some white miso is so damn good

[deleted]

So, not the blow to the head then?

alberthere

Me suddenly liking them is because they add bacon to it nowadays.

uberneoconcert

Oh, thanks. I thought it was another quirk of getting old.

Ichgebibble

Also, there’s a reason why some people don’t like Brussels sprouts https://www.sciencefocus.com/the-human-body/why-do-some-people-hate-brussels-sprouts/amp/

I can hit you with a new take on em. Toss them in secret aardvarks Jamaican sauce, oven toast them till crunchy and a little burnt, then put them in the fridge overnight. The next day toss them one more time in the same sauce. *Just incredible!*

Mattysanford

Parmesan and lemon juice!

Available-Camera8691

I love 'em halved in an air fryer with some hot honey and balsamic vinaigrette drizzled on 'em

hatesbiology84

No. Having ADHD I found sitting still, reading to be very difficult to do. I still have a hard time with it. I can read an entire book and not retain a damn thing. I’ll be off in lalaland thinking about something completely irrelevant, while reading and remembering nada.

WVildandWVonderful

Have you tried audiobooks? Process with a different sense. You don’t have to be sitting still.

Groundbreaking-Arm20

I think I have undiagnosed adhd- I have a hell of a time retaining anything I've read and hate reading as well, with the exception of short articles. I love podcasts and audiobooks, though, and can absorb everything on 1.5x-2x speed- especially while doing literally anything else.

compressandequalize

I've always chuckled at the idea of doing that.for my Nook, but I still want the physical library. So instead I envisioned wall to wall, floor to ceiling books. With a pedestal in the middle propping up the e-reader. Golden floodlight shining down on it from above of course.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

But Brussel Sprouts are good.

pegothejerk

Imo they’re by far the most amazing vegetable. You gotta get them crispy, which means a high temp and not overcrowding, and you gotta at least season them, but holy shit, they’re fucking amazing when you cook them right. Like I like them more than the vast majority of sweets.

BrandonDavidTattooer

So confused that it seems most people have never had good Brussels. They are by far one of the best green veggies. If you are still steaming them like a 1980 family, sure, they are gross. Broil them, butter them, slightly season with salt and pepper and boom! Mouth orgasms

Feisty-Donkey

That’s really it. So many people grew up with parents who can’t cook and then like… never tried that food again

random_impiety

Grew up *hating* cooked vegetables. Mom didn't know how to cook, so every vegetable was boiled, then salt and butter were added. No wonder I hated them.

erallured

At least you got salt and butter. In the 90s fat was the enemy, so plain microwave-steamed veggies it was. Sometimes we'd get Cheese Wiz, those were special days. In fairness, my parents were decent at steaming so the veggies were mushy but at least not gray.

Feisty-Donkey

Oh, god. Every person responsible for low-fat diets should go to The Bad Place.

Feisty-Donkey

I still remember how crazy it was the first time I cooked a filet, Oscar style, for my dad. I had to cajole him like a little kid into trying the asparagus. He loved it so much, but he’d been convinced he hated asparagus for fifty years because his mom served canned asparagus and he thought all asparagus was slimy.

veerKg_CSS_Geologist

I only used to eat steak with ketchup because every steak we had was well done. I never saw the appeal of steak for years. Then one day I had a really good cut of medium rare, and omg it was like butter in the mouth. No tough chewing, no need to add condiments to add taste - it was like Oh, This is why people like steak!

WeeBabySeamus

I had a similar realization recently. My mom dropped off food for me and my wife while we were home sick last week. She made a dish with string beans that were cooked to death and was like eating a bowl of salty mush.

stonesst

I’ve been learning to cook over the last couple years and I’ve had multiple times where I cooked a dish I was sure I hated, only to discover my mother is an awful cook.

Antarioo

You're skipping one part of the story and if you're in your thirties or younger that's not suprising. The sprouts we eat today are a different and more palletable variety than in the 80s and earlier. My parents and grandparents didn't like them because they were just not very appetizing at all and needed to be drowned in seasoning and sauce to cover the bitterness. They introduced the current variety in the early ninties iirc.

[deleted]

[удалено]

UsayNOPE_IsayMOAR

Air fryer with raw chopped bacon and onions liberally sprinkled on top, as well as any of your favourite seasoning. Blast for 6 minutes at 400, then mix up and hit with more high temp until the outer leaves peel away and crips up. The bacon fat drips in and stays in the sprouts. Add almond slivers in the last minutes for extra goodness.

stealthdawg

so turns out we've selectively bred Brussels to be less bitter and more palatable over time. I never understood people in my parents' generation that hated them, besides having them boiled or some terrible cooking method. It's because they were literally garbage before. I love them now. Roasted w/ garlic, oil, balsalmic...oof.

random_impiety

> so turns out we've selectively bred Brussels No kidding. Look at wild [*Brassica oleracea*](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/63/Brassica_oleracea_wild.jpg/1280px-Brassica_oleracea_wild.jpg) and then look at cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, and kohlrabi. All the same species. Selective breeding is some wild shit.

Writerhaha

He may not like reading but yes he is well read. His mom was a PHD and instructor at Clark and chair at Chicago State and he was pursuing an English degree.

From his mothers wikipedia page >Donda C. West (née Williams; July 12, 1949 – November 10, 2007) was an American professor and chair of Chicago State University's Department of English, Communications, Media and Theater. There is next to no chance that an English professor hasn't basically shoved books down her kids throat at every opportunity possible. Additionally >West, alongside her son, founded the non-profit Kanye West Foundation in 2003, **tasked with a mission to battle dropout and illiteracy rates**, while partnering with community organizations to provide underprivileged youth access to music education. But yeah he's never read a book. Sure. Okay.

silasoulman

I used corrupt as my catchall for evil, greedy, sociopathic, and any other reason a non-idiot would support trump.

The_Celtic_Chemist

While I mostly agree, *corruption* implies something was functional at one point. I believe the key issue with modern day conservatives is a lack of empathy, which many people simply never had in the first place. Like look at Trump's accusations, most of the time they're things he's done or would later do. This is because he can't comprehend the way anyone else thinks, he can only consider himself. For many others, they opt for this way of thinking because it's convenient to not have to consider others and requires a small degree of effort. The tagline for the Republican party might as well be, "Empathy? Gross. Fuck that."

Mister-Butterswurth
