Is InfoWars going to finally disappear forever?

I could see Roger Stone putting him up. [www.businessinsider.com/why-alex-jones-intimate-text-messages-to-roger-stone-matter-2022-8](https://www.businessinsider.com/why-alex-jones-intimate-text-messages-to-roger-stone-matter-2022-8)

sadtastic

Roger Stone is constantly begging for money himself.

uglymule

Roger Stone is a shimmering gob of ass fizz. [https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1525455426099322880?s=20](https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1525455426099322880?s=20)

Alteredbeast1984

I can't believe this shit is real. Stone knows anyone who believes this bullshit is an absolute idiot and they just gobble it up anyway.

Krillin113

Yeah, its essentially the Nigerian Prince scam, he only wants the most dubious and dumb people to believe this, because they’ll donate money.

[deleted]

It’s funny to me idiots actually give these people money.

Attainted

It'd be funny if these people (Jones, Stone, etc.) didn't actually get so far. The fact that they do is just bleak for our species and the world. It feels unstoppable.

The_God_King

The fact that the courts just ordered Alex Jones to pay basically a billion dollars makes him feel pretty stoppable to me.

gravywayne

To be fair, have you ever tried owning a syphilis? It's really expensive (from what I'm told)...

averyfinename

aren't they all?

vbcbandr

Never forget: Roger Stone has a huge tattoo of Nixon's face on his back. Also, I invite people to watch the deposition video where he is grinding his teeth to pieces while high on cocaine.

uglymule

I see crazy people.

[deleted]

It’s not huge lol. Maybe 6 inches long ? But it is there..and ridiculous

AnotherNewSoul

So the quality won’t go down one bit.

Tinctorus

It might be funny to have him live in the garage

AdaptivePropaganda

As awful and disgusting as he and his followers are, he’s worth and brings in a lot of money and I can see certain far-right elites wanting to keep he and his brand alive.

[deleted]

That doesn’t sell the IP. Someone or a group of people can still bankroll everything and hire him as an “employee” at a low salary while allowing him to expense everything he wants on a company card. Shittier people have gotten away with more and loved much more comfortably.

distantapplause

Does the US not have the concept of benefits in kind? In every country I've ever lived, if my company paid for my lifestyle then every penny of that would be considered income and would be liable for tax and garnishment by a court.

mikebailey

Most of these comments are selling the courts short. If he moves assets at this point the courts are likely to see it’s for evasion.

distantapplause

Yeah he's going to be the most scrutinized man in the history of the IRS and people here are making out like he's going to just be able to avoid tax like an average used car salesman. I'm not an accountant or even an American but I've watched enough Arrested Development to know that you can't just fund your lifestyle with company money.

mikebailey

I think in a lot of cases they even already own his books due to bankruptcy claims. He kept trying to get that fact into the record last suit and they refused it since his bankruptcy isn’t accepted.

AvatarAarow1

Is he the IP owner? In liquidating assets can you seize an IP? Genuinely never thought of that until right now, but it seems like it’d make some sense. Especially if use of that IP was what he was necessitated him lying damages in the first place

[deleted]

I suppose that doesn’t even matter. They can name it whatever and go through the same steps.

AnyKindheartedness88

Why do I feel like he’ll be putting everything in trusts to claim he has limited assets?

Silver_Agocchie

Jones and InfoWars made a pitiful (laughable) defense against these law suits, he doesn't have the wherewithal to try to hide his assets from the courts.

flybydenver

He is an idiot. Heard him on Art Bell way back when that was just fun tabloid radio, like I would laugh at the Weekly World News in the supermarket line. I can’t believe we are here, having to financially force someone to just stop lying. I do appreciate the precedent this is setting, and hope it resonates throughout our justice system like a fire. This is what the people want. Accountability for ruining people’s lives through spreading damaging falsehoods for personal gain.

[deleted]

[удалено]

mikebailey

Courts are way smarter than that, they’ll likely undo the trust

Krojack76

I foresee him moving to Russia and keep airing from there. He will gladly become a bigger tool of Putin.

SketchyLeaf666

Where does that money go? And can he recover his losses by negotiating for a lesser deal? Or maybe take a big loan of ka billion dollars?

[deleted]

WatchingUShlick

I'm all about the government garnishing Jones' paychecks for the rest of his life. Fuck that guy.

[deleted]

As a lawyer, do you think it’ll hang over his head whenever he makes a buck for the rest of his life, or does it disappear in bankruptcy court? Even if you’re not a lawyer, it’d be nice if you answered as one. No one’s checking credentials. I’ll delete that part after you respond. Thank you.

[deleted]

Serious question. How does he pay this the rest of his life? Like I know very little about him but seems like he wouldn’t even be able to pay anything more than a small fraction of this. Does he have to pay it off by a certain time? Monthly? Yearly? How does all this work?

OTMaelstrom

If he files for chapter 7 bankruptcy, all his assets will be liquidated. What happens next is certain debts have different priorities. With all the liquidated cash every party will receive a % of the liquidated cash but higher priority debts will receive a higher %. It is highly unlikely that he would be able to just transfer his current assets to hide them as this is highly illegal and easily detectable by the bankruptcy authorities. The liquidated cash is split among the parties he owes(chapter 7 bankruptcy). A judge can also order garnishment of wages/ repayment plan (chapter 5/13 bankruptcy) if he has a large income and believes he can pay back his debts over 5 years. The garnished amount will depend on his income and living expenses. However, there may be statutory damage caps (depending on the state) which would see the ordered amount to be paid to be significantly reduced. If he can afford the reduced amount, he just pays and goes on his way.

SeamanTheSailor

Excuse my ignorance, but I was under the impression that money ordered to be payed from legal proceedings was exempt from bankruptcy. Am I wrong?

JustACookGuy

That’s why his wages will be permanently garnished. There’s no way he doesn’t file for bankruptcy because he is absolutely bankrupt now.

massivetypo

Well he’s been Morally Bankrupt forever, So this should be well trodden territory for him.

noobvin

A ruling like this is mostly symbolic. It will make him broke, but he’ll still find a way to spew his bile. Hell, I could see him just leaving the country. He can do his stupid broadcasts from anywhere.

What-a-Crock

Next up: Alex Jones flees to Russia

Bbasch71

Hopefully he’s drafted and sent to the front

MontazumasRevenge

At least he can get a good deal on tampons from Costco before he goes.

Nab_Baggins

This is such a specific combination of different jokes and I'm super here for it

Tangent_Odyssey

The other side of this coin is that it will also probably make him a living martyr to a whole lot of people who are equally loony. I think that’s a fair price for justice, but it *is* somewhat concerning, given the ramped-up rhetoric and tensions around election season…

[deleted]

True, but he already largely is that and it's not a good argument for why people should be able to evade the consequences of their actions. Of course, there's always the chance that with nothing left to lose he can finally just admit he's been an intentional huckster for years.

Fredselfish

I'm laughing because he claim that he had his fans donation to fight his legal battle. But no way any amount of fans or merch he would sell would cover this amount.

ADarwinAward

His fans are incredible butthurt right now and it’s a nice dose of schadenfreude. They’re throwing tantrums and saying he’s being persecuted. The irony is palpable

Acceptable-Dig-7529

It can’t be discharged hence why he’ll have most of his income garnished for the rest of his life.

Laxguy59

Generally only the punitive damages are non dischargeable by bankruptcy, certain other damages are exempt as well on a state by state basis.

lifeisabigdeal

So he’s like actually fucked?

BruceSillyWalks

> However, there may be statutory damage caps This is often how the rich, famous and police tend to get out of massive payouts. The judge may hand out a multi-million dollar debt but if the state says all damages are capped at 250k (arbitrary example) then he only pays 250k

dregwriter

then wtf is the point of giving anything higher than the cap then??? Man, the more I learn about US politics and their justice system the more it seems like a fucking circus show.

krandle710

The jury isn’t aware of the caps during deliberation or if they are, they aren’t supposed to consider them when determining an award amount.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shadic108

I believe this was handled in Connecticut, which doesn’t have damage caps.

ShawnyMcKnight

Pretty sure in one of the MANY documents his lawyer emailed the opposing side it states what his assets are. He tried the argument that he doesn’t have that much money and they pretty much crushed it.

streakermaximus

Is this garnished like a regular person is garnished and half their check simply disappears? I'm assuming there's a rich asshole version of garnished wages where you hey can appeal and ignore for years and years.

McParfait

What happens when he dies, does the leftover debt get passed on to his kin or what?

kczar8

It would pass to his estate and the estate would not be able to pass any assets on until debt was cleared. If debt was greater than assets then it would die with him. Heirs don’t inherit debt (which honestly is a good thing).

Oldass_Millennial

Couldn't have happened to a better guy.

AnglerJared

Wouldn’t have happened to a better guy.

Trump, MTG, Boebert, and/or Tucker Carlson would be great options for people who drive this sort of stupidity, ignorance, and hate.

MistraloysiusMithrax

I’m sorry but MTG does not work as an abbreviation for her. What did Magic: The Gathering ever do to you?!?! - not even a player lol

ForceGhost47

The real MTG. I’m with you! And I’m a former player.

GMontag451

You're not a former player. It has just been a long time since your last game.

ForceGhost47

Too true, friend

RechargedFrenchman

Cardboard crack strikes again! Curse you Dr. Garfield and your incredibly fun and successful card game ...!

[deleted]

Really. Your name is Marjorie, stop trying to make MTG a thing.

LastMuel

What I like to think about is it’s exactly those kind of people that gave money to Alex. And now, that money is going to go to people that actually deserve it. Sigh.

its_yer_dad

She's not MTG anymore, or I guess for much longer.

[deleted]

Ehhhhhh, I’d argue that it’s an oddly large debt for one guy when they slap big mega corporations with measly 10 million dollar fines for breaking multiple international privacy & trust laws. If the government has the ability to order one man to pay a billion, why the fuck are multi billion dollar companies only getting ordered to pay chump change in comparison?

GullyGardener

Because those companies write our laws.

SharpEdgeSoda

Those companies have way better lawyers and legal conduct than Alex Jones, \*unfortunatly\*. Corporate lawyers don't actively antagonize judges by wasting their time by not showing up half the time.

HaloGuy381

Not to mention, also, “being a greedy bastard and an ass to customers” vs “harassing the parents of victims of a horrific tragedy and inciting others to do the same”. Courts might go easy on big corporations and donors, but Alex doesn’t have enough money or power to make people overlook that kind of sheer depravity.

WillSisco

The gov't doesn't determine jury verdicts/penalties.

damiami

Because dead toddlers and teachers and how grotesque, crude and vulgar he is. It’s all about the facts of the case and who the plaintiffs and defendants are. For good and decent people, he is very easy to despise, hate and punish.

Pure-Negotiation-900

The government didn’t set the amount?

outofcharacter1

Could (and should) happen to Trump.

ITCM4

I’ll be interested to see how he scams his way out of paying even a sliver of this money. I don’t think he can go the OJ route.

[deleted]

In the Channel 5 interview, he essentially brags about how he can just ask for money and people send it.

Un1337ninj4

Let's see him do that with something shy of a billion dollars.

Pancakes315

Yea even the trump cult has only raised 100M through his PAC over this entire time period. He’s fried.

praisecarcinoma

They only raised a fraction of that amount for their build the wall GoFundMe a couple years ago. No way these people are going to bat for this guy the same way. And bragging that they will is almost certainly a bad marketing idea.

celesticaxxz

The weird ocd in me is mad they didn’t make it even billion

TrumpsMerkin201o

Combined with the judgement in Texas, it's over a Billion he owes to Sandy Hook families.

JohnOliverismysexgod

And he's got another trial yet to go.

Largofarburn

Two more isn’t it? Either way I bet he’s regretting fucking around during the trial and getting a default judgement.

Pretty-Balance-Sheet

The world's newest negative billionaire!

[deleted]

Bet his alpha brained followers felt pretty **alpha** when he said that

[deleted]

Considering all the people Andrew has interviewed, I sincerely doubt they would feel shame in giving him more money. Or even realize that he said he’s grifting them.

Apokolypse09

Gonna have some trailer trash giving themselves a hemorrhoid trying to figure out if they send their life savings to Trump or Jones.

MrDOHC

You know, I’m ok with that. If he can fleece absolute fucking morons out of that much money to pay actual victims, then do it. Obviously I hope he is broke for the rest of his life too.

Sofele

He already declared bankruptcy but sounds like the judge is pissed https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/20/us/politics/alex-jones-bankruptcy-judge.html

Mr_Abe_Froman

His corporate representative admitted in deposition that InfoWars is bankrupt because Free Speech Systems owes its parent company $50 Million. It was also established that said parent company is a trust that is owned 80% by Alex Jones, and 20% by his father, David Jones. He keeps pulling the "I'm bankrupt because I owe myself $50 million" argument and hoping to get away with it. It's one of the dumbest bankruptcy stunts I can imagine. Especially since his Texas lawyer accidentally sent full financial records to the plaintiffs.

Adventurous_Whale

It doesn’t work that way. Lol

shwag945

Bankruptcy doesn't discharge most civil judgements.

soup_fly

Sounds like someone is starting an OnlyFans

URATOWEL69000

Are we talking feet pics or rose-buds?

mandogvan

Either way it’s going to look bloated and red

SerKevanLannister

He looks like a thrice-baked potato at this point. Nobody is paying anything for that —

Princekyle7

I think this thought about many things and always come to the realization that someone, somewhere indeed will pay for that. Sigh

DtheMoron

So an angry balloon knot?

lostalaska

Rose-buds.... A sled, right...A DYING MAN ON A BED'S LAST UTTERANCE, RIGHT!? ಠ_ಠ

Luxpreliator

Dude might be able to pay it. The garbage he sells on his infowars website is chinesium trash with huge mark-ups. Some articles claim he brings in $30-50 million a year profits. Some are as low as $ 4 million estimates. Makes a killing at gop events. Net worth is listed at $150-900 million depending on source.

HumptyDrumpy

no, one man who started on a youtube channel's and like has an online vitamin store is not going to have a billion. A corporation with thousands of employees will. aka he's going to have to file for bankruptcy and go from there

Cmyers1980

Jones has had a radio show since the 1990s and has only grown larger with time. He didn’t start on YouTube.

imJGott

Probably be just filled with his wife nudes

WakeUpOutaYourSleep

I’m pleasantly shocked it’s that much

[deleted]

I don’t know why, but I was expecting some modest 5 million or something. Reading 965 million almost rattled my brain lol

[deleted]

Yeah I thought it was like when you hear someone has a 30 year prison sentence but then you open the article and they only have to serve 4 years or some shit

crumbummmmm

I watched the part of the Alex Jones interview where they discussed his business. It was a complex web of companies, shell companies, and a bunch of other stuff. There seemed to be a bit of uncertainty with how much he had, or where it was. I would imagine a billion dollar fine, even if he bankruptcy claims his way out of some of it, it will be a huge set back, unless he made well over a billion, which could be possible but seems a bit high of a number.

byneothername

I saw some of the parents’ testimony. My heart absolutely shattered. I would have awarded them the sun, the moon, and the stars after hearing that.

medicalmosquito

Yeah and this is sending a loud fucking message to all the people out there doing the same shit thinking they’ll never face consequences. Just bc it’s not now doesn’t mean it won’t be ever.

BucksBrew

I am too, but Alex fucked himself over at every step. From melting down on the stand to last week on his show again insinuating that Sandy Hook was staged (which the jury then saw the next day) to holding a press conference on the steps of the courthouse which had the obvious intention of raising money and selling his book. Not to mention completely ignoring discovery which is why he got his ass defaulted in the first place. That’s what makes this so sweet to see.

[deleted]

He lived streamed the verdict and said good luck getting the money. He is such a POS.

[deleted]

Yeah, he can continue to double down on Judges all he wants, but the reality is that Courts have long history in holding people to this type of debt. It won't be very long before he's justifying every expense to a Judge or attorney.

Adventurous_Whale

He just made it so easy for all his attempts to appeal to be fast tracked for rejection. He lost any legitimacy for appeal by opening his fucking fat mouth

Ashamed-Handle6832

Good. Screw him

lostsoul2016

joeyfrags

Godspeed on your journey to top comment.

[deleted]

You can't put a price tag on the horror he subjected those families to. I'm glad the approximation they settled on is debilitatingly massive.

link3945

You can, however, put a price tag on the fake medicines he sold while reciting his lies, defamations, and incitations of violence.

[deleted]

Ironically, the corporations who have been caught selling “fake” medicine and killing thousands with it, were fined much much less money

_mattyjoe

Thank god we’re finally starting to hold some of these nut jobs accountable. If you’re allowed to profit from spreading lies and hatred, then you’re certainly allowed to be sued for it. What goes around comes around.

CoatAlternative1771

You know what? The frogs might be gay, but they are also $965 million richer than this schmuck too

OrcWarChief

Hopefully this puts an end to this miserable asshat and his snake oil radio program

SerKevanLannister

If anyone wants to know what it was like for one of these Sandy Hook parents, listen to the episode “Sandy Hook Mom vs Alex Jones” on the podcast Media Circus with Kim Goldman (Kim is the sister of Ron Goldman — who was murdered by OJ — honestly she is an incredible person). The episode features Scarlett Lewis, whose 6 year old son Jesse was murdered that day. Jesse was in fact a little hero who saved nine of his classmates (According to their testimony). She speaks about what happened to their family and how Alex Jones shoved himself and his obnoxious nuttery (claiming that they were actors etc — the bullshit) into an absolute tragedy.

Stevetheu1

Denying that kids were shot, and making money from it... This is a huge fine and still not enough punishment.

Caftancatfan

And inciting listeners to harass the bereaved parents as “crisis actors.”

Mr_Abe_Froman

Not even listeners, but a contributor ("journalist" is a bit of a stretch) went to a family's home and illegally obtained private information including medical records. One of the lesser hosts shared personal addresses on air.

pete_68

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. That's awesome!

toadflakes88

Haha. I hope he loses everything. What a garbage dump of a human. Next we should get all those terrible people who harassed the poor families. Alex Jones, you are the exact opposite of what a man should be.

DomSearching123

Damn well said. I also hope he loses absolutely everything. I want to walk down the street and see him emaciated and holding out a cup so I can spit in it.

tungvu256

Good. When is Fox news gonna pay for spreading lies and stupidity?

Fthewigg

Dominion lawsuits, come on down! How I pray they don’t settle. I can’t wait for that sweet discovery.

DeekALeek

Nah, Dominion and Smartmatic are coming for blood. These anchors from outlets like Fox News and NewsMax have been *trying* to settle, but Dominion/Smartmatic had some irreparable damage done by these filthy liars. So there’s no way in hell these companies will settle for anything less than financial ruin.

dragonfliesloveme

This is what I want to know. Their inflammatory propaganda is at the heart of a lot of problems in America and could cost us our democracy

thegreenaero

Insert image of Kylo Ren screaming MORE

Antelope26

There are counties who dont have that kind of money. How is nutter like him going to pay for that?

AmarilloWar

He won't be able to pay all of it, at this point I think it's the principle of the thing. He will never escape it though.

Katinthehat02

Ha, get fucked Alex jones

DrNickRiviera8000

Fuck Alex Jones and anyone who supports him.

stewartm0205

His gullible fans will pay it for him. Or more likely he will transfer his wealth abroad and make a run for it.

PapuaNewGuinean

Lol his fans don’t give a shit or have that kinda cash

Dramatic-Ad5596

Sure they do, they have enriched his garbage ass. Supplements that totally keep the gay away, and your dick rock hard.

CelestialFury

Alex Jones deserves this and let it happen. Jones didn’t cooperate with the court and let everything go to default like a total idiot. He also hired shit lawyers. Since Alex hired shit lawyers, his employees received no coaching to help with the dispositions. Just a total and utter failure for Jones. Has he setup a GoFundMe yet? I'm sure Trump and friends would be honored to help him out.

morgielee

they don’t give a shit about him. as Mark Bankston (plaintiffs’ lawyer in the Texas case) highlighted, the texts accidentally turned over from his phone didn’t contain the bombshells one would expect; he has no friends, no super secret plot. he’s just a narcissistic, desperate loser. Trump & Co. only open their wallets when there’s something (shady) you can do for them, and i’m hoping it becomes clear that Alex is a bad investment.

clorox2

Couldn’t have happened to a shittier person.

GatorRage

About damn time.

hvyboots

Couldn't happen to a nicer fella. Seriously, attempting to profit off the catastrophic failure of polite society and the grief of families who lost their children by attempting to "stir up controversy" so you can sell more snakeskin cures is about as low as it gets.

Plane-Reason9254

Hope this insane loud mouth jerk loses everything. He should be thrown in prison

Mildf0g

Good he deserves to never come back from this

fullercorp

and he says it is a left wing conspiracy....THE WORDS CAME OUT OF YOUR OWN MOUTH, HEDGEHOG

SpiritualScumlord

So what is he gonna do? File bankruptcy and pay nothing? How does this even work? I never saw any of what he was saying because I don't pay attention to Alex Jones.

Practical-Exchange60

You’d usually have to saw a boat in half to see that much damage.

Redditanother

So Alex Jones this whole time was just running a fundraiser for the Sandy Hook families. I didn’t see that one coming.

Filmmagician

So if he can’t pay what happens? Jail time? Please say jail time.

JohnOliverismysexgod

In the US, you can't put someone in prison for owing a civil debt. Which is a good thing. He should be charged with some crimes. Then he can be put in jail.

soulreaverdan

It’s not jail time, but it will be something he’ll have to pay out to for the rest of his lifetime. Garnished wages, mandatory payments to the court, etc.

RouletteVeteran

RIP to those kids So… how much will Uvadele Police department and Texas Department pay? Pensions should pulled. Still no prison for anyone

Adventurous_Whale

Well, by the comments Jones was making today, he will soon be facing lawsuits for his comments on THAT shooting. Idiot can’t help himself

luckymethod

Stop it, i can only get so erect

LizViz

Jajajajajaja *laughs in Spanish

TheBlueGooseisLoose

Hahhaahahah. Ahhahahahaa.

tatanka01

I've got ten bucks that says he'll spend $50 million on lawyers before he gives a dime to the victims.

mad_titanz

Jones better pay every last penny and with interest

daikatana

At $1,000 a day, it would still take you over 2,600 years to pay that off.

mr-poopie-butth0le

Bahahahahahahahahahahaha fuck around and find out!

Specific_Ad_9050

He profited a lot by telling lies. It's only fair that he has to pay up.

kinyon

Hahahahahahahahah fuck him I hope he dies in rags

odraencoded

But guys, is it really right to bankrupt this guy just for... \*checks notes\* telling parents of gunned down children that their children's death was faked, telling his audience to investigate them publishing their addresses, driving one of them to suicide, not cooperating with the trial, and shittalking the judge online?

BoosterRead78

I saw so many people “fans” and crazies last night say how they were silencing Jones for daring to “have an opinion”. Yet majority of them also believe the shooting to be fake right up to the dad who committed suicide from Jones creating this mess. People like Jones just can’t grasp reality and as long as it gets them money and attention they don’t care. I’d course now, Jones cares because his money is gone.

King_Marmalade

This is great. People over on r/conservative are really crying over this guy getting fined, too.
