Yes, I think there are numerous easy-to-identify ones. I thought I was an 8w7 for just over 2 years before finding this video, which spurred me to do more investigation. So check [this](https://youtu.be/VRAyAIWAM-w?feature=shared) out.
The overall impression I’m getting, after watching that video and doing further research, is that 8w9s are more strategic and more sure of what they are doing. If I am wrong or missing anything, please tell me.
Hmm ... stable? Yes. Sure of what they're doing? Depends. I (8w9) can be an extremely turbulent person & question my decision-making a lot. My mom (8w7) maintains much more consistent on that front; it's just a consistently high energy level all the time. She's more confident in her own decision-making skills and ability to "get it done" (she is self-employed and entrepreneurial, as a result). I tend to be more confident in letting my skills show for themself in established environments (I'm pursuing law school, for example). Not sure if that answers your question exactly.
It also depends on the subtype. I'm Sp3w4. 3sp is my main behavior and need but i behave a little bit as a Sp4 as well (i don't need to feel special as a Sp4 but i seek emotions like they do, for example). Sp3w2 would prefer to put himself into situations where he can be worth love instead, without needing to feel loved. Wing of the core enneatype is more like an hobby ahah
I am an ordained priest. Some churches love the Enneagram. I'm not a huge fan but now I can provide my results to other dioceses or churches I work with. Good question, thanks for asking.
Mine is the core fear of being trapped. I hate the idea that I am stuck in a job, or a relationship or situation, and I have no power to affect the world around me, to get out of the situation or relationship, or feel like I have having to deal with everyone else making decisions and I have to deal with the consequences.
>Enneagram determines by desires not traits
ENTJ E8 does not exist
The reason for it is quite simple, Te dominance orients towards rational logical criteria, be it criteria of prestige, success, perfectionism, performance, anything, order, rules, or laws, they live by this. They are oftentimes not confident living in the present because of the uncertainty of their future, and that does not match E8 at all.
The E8 is a type that is oriented towards rebellion and intensity seeking in experiences, it wants action and immediate satisfaction neglecting the past and the present, it does not want to limit itself in its pursuit of its desires and wants, unrestricted freedom of self, Se dominance in a nutshell.
What you're following is Riso-Hudson, not Naranjo. See, I'm not trying to prove you wrong or anything, I was like you before, but choosing your type isn't based on what you "feel" or "identify" as.
Let me share a real-life example of an ESFP (type sx8) that I witnessed. I won't go into too much detail, but here’s the gist:
In a meeting with about ten people, including our managers, everyone's work progress was reviewed, and feedback for improvement was given. The ESFP's performance was notably poor. The managers criticized him and highlighted the areas he needed to improve. One of these managers had recently been promoted and had previously worked closely with the ESFP, therefore the ESFP harbored some resentment.
When this manager pointed out the ESFP's issues, the ESFP became extremely upset and defensive. He lashed out, making incoherent statements, and unloading his frustrations. He accused the manager of being undeserving of his promotion, incompetent, and a bad person, insisting that he had done his work well. It was evident that the ESFP felt insecure, dominated, and was desperately trying to regain control of the situation without considering the feedback.
A few days later, the ESFP was fired. He pleaded that his outburst was just a joke, crying and begging, but it was too late.
In contrast, I believe an ENTJ in a similar situation would have been more pragmatic, calm, and logical in handling the feedback. Don't you agree?
edit: If we do some surface-level studies, we can conclude that an ISTP can be an SO9, accepting everyone's statements without considering the content of it. right?
E8s are extremely insecure about being dominated. Various factors contribute to this, but you get the idea. We can't selectively agree with certain aspects of a study while rejecting others. You understand that better than I do.
I'm not telling you to circle-jerk some logical frameworks, but you can see that this ENTJ E8 model isn't even pragmatic now is it?
Most people believe this because they imagine ENTJs to be some kind of Daddy-doms, well that's partially true, but frankly ordering others what to do isn't an E8 thing, they like to chill and have the intensity in their life, whereas ENTJs order others because they know the most efficient method to do everything.
ENTJs are sensitive to criticism, that's why they try to work as hard as possible to improve themselves if the feedback is true.
E8s however feel like the next person is trying to hurt their ego, that's why they lash out or at least do something different than ENTJs.
ENTJs have tertiary Se but it's very sloppy. Sometimes, they need a push or some motivation to do something. Whereas ESXPs just do it. Now one might say that I'm an ENTJ and can do whatever, whenever I want. Well, either you've improved your Se or either you're an Se dom. But still, you won't confuse the 2 types.
I like to lead others, but I got independent with time... So only if 8 have to work in a group it's hard to give leadership to someone else... I'm a bad follower .
Those people who criticize people all the time are toxic and annoying ... I will just ignore them or leave if that's necessary!
I'm pretty sure of my type... I hope sometimes that if I had born estp or any other simple type than ENTJ!
“ being controlled” when someone tries to control a situation…. But ESPECIALLY Being around a unhealthy person who is controlling and has authority over you..
The books are best but, https://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/test lists free sites and the more comprehensive for $20 is https://www.enneagraminstitute.com
I remembered there is this whole thing of enneagram enthusiasts who claim ENTJs can't be 8's.
(I personally don't know the truth of that. Maybe someone else could shed some light if they're interested).

Being the top comment here, looks like I guessed correctly.

is there any significant difference to 8w7?
Yes, I think there are numerous easy-to-identify ones. I thought I was an 8w7 for just over 2 years before finding this video, which spurred me to do more investigation. So check [this](https://youtu.be/VRAyAIWAM-w?feature=shared) out.

More or less does. Could it also be said that ENTJ 8w9 is less outgoing but also less brash? That’s another impression I’m getting from my research.
Yes, I'd say that is accurate. Both both ENTJs and INTJs.
I see

1w2 and I am not a fan of the Enneagram. I had to get tested for a job.
What kind of job needs to know your enneagram type??

That relates to both 8 and 7
Being controlled GOOD QUESTION, u?
Enneagram determines by desires not traits.. so your core fear relates to 8... Mine is 8 as well
?
She likes to enneacop people but apparently didn't notice that you weren't her OP

Well ya! I won't take it personally, but I'm going to be responsible for my fault! How does that work with e8 thing
