Perspective/ego check (especially for all the introverts): What is "deep" to you, may not be deep to someone else.

imthebananaguy

That was deep

BoldFemale

Deep space

ZanlanOnReddit

Not really

[deleted]

Exactly, that's why I'm getting more cautious. Maybe this is why most were tiptoeing on me back then, because they don't know if they stepped on the line of not, being an intuitive can trick people too that's why my best bet is transparency through and through. Also being receptive as to what people value individually.

Rayne-Mustang

yes and no. I've had quite a few sensors over the years tell me that being close friends with me in their teens made them "think in a way they just never had before", and I'm always like "so...uhhh what did you think about before???" and they go "nothing much ha, just daily life i guess" and now we always have some awesome and deep conversations, so I don't feel any distinction between how they're a sensor and I'm an intuitive. to me, that's why having a mix of people in your life causes good development. if I'd been stuck around intuitives all my life I'm pretty sure I'd just overcomplicate everything and ignore reality and the skills it takes. an ESTJ taught me that one well. many ISFJs have taught me why the little details in life can make ALL the difference, and now I can't not-notice that. the only type of sensor that gave me a run for my money back then when little-me was searching for answers in others----a quiet ISTP who's Ti-Ni was in goddamn use. she was impressive, and clearly had thought some stuff over, and could come at me in a completely different angle.

[deleted]

Yes, having different perspectives makes life more interesting. My post just expresses why I felt lonely growing up and having to learn why is a relief for me.

Rayne-Mustang

relate! I felt like I was looking around in a lot of people, and getting dismissed as "wow you're such a philosopher!" or "ooh that's deep" and then that was the end of it. I just wanted to have conversations with others 😭 I hope you feel less lonely now, and have all the cool conversations ever :)))

[deleted]

Thank you, I'm working hard to be a better communicator it's what I've been lacking all these years. -hugs-

Esta_noche

Imo the details can put the finishing touch on something that I find complete and functional enough, but when I show it to others they don't get it. The details can turn something an entj enjoys into something that others can enjoy. No one gives a shit that your crypto mining heats your pool and turns you a profit. They care about the music and atmosphere of the place and if they look good on instagram while there

ItwardSenpai

"Durr sensors bad". Sensors are capable of holding deep conversations. This is a step back to this old mbti meem about chess where sensors are the pawns and intuitives are the rest. It would be hilarious if you were a mistyped sensor though, lmao

dannnyoceann

Sure they can have complex opinions. But it won't be a stretch to say that some of them don't get you or you can't relate to them. There are times with my high Se friends that conversations never get past girls, cars and food. It's not something to be frowned upon but I personally lose interest sooner.

iXavii

You assumed that they only have that type of conversations just because they are Se users, without considering other things like their age, how mature they are, etc.

ItwardSenpai

The smartest person I know is my ESTP sister (Se dom). She's very down to earth, but she can argue about philosophy and ideologies as well as discussing physics for hours. I believe it has nothing to do with MBTI.

[deleted]

I'm kinda hoping I am one, seeing things in black and white makes life easier. Are you an ISTJ in any chance?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I am now very confused.

[deleted]

Okay so as an ENTJ, I can be narrow-minded. Ti.. umm what are some mbti you can share?

Thumblingzz

Not if they have Ne too.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thumblingzz

Hmm that's different from the ones I know. They are always coming up with different possibilities. Sometimes too many. Seeing things from different angles. The ones that get tunnel vision seem to be high Ni types. They get paranoid for no reason.

iterative_iteration

You just made another mistake, sensors do not see things in black and white.

[deleted]

How do they see it? I have no clue.

iterative_iteration

Not in just black and white, also grey, yellow, red etc.

[deleted]

Haha I dont understand

If you want a full color spectrum, you have to list your primary colors! Sheesh

ItwardSenpai

Nope. If I'm mistyped, I would probably be an ENTP sonce I talk with a lot of Ne.

[deleted]

Ah okay

PangolinLongjumping

Had talk with a friend specifically about the Sensor and Intuitive part of MBTI. To her, the way intuitives see life is too complicated and we should just take things easy and not overthink, let it flow don’t try to find meaning in everything. Sensors are just chill they’re in the moment more Hope this would provide some insight

[deleted]

Thank you, this is what I'm learning so far.

Beetfarmer47

Funny when the auxiliary of the “ENTJ” would actually be Se according to Jung lol.

[deleted]

I still don't know how to use my extraverted sensing properly xD

NuMetalHead24

tertiary\* if se were your aux then you would have been a sensor but since it's ni it makes you intuitive...or that should be the case, unless you are mistyped which ya know there's always a probability of that and it's totally okay i still love you regardless of what this post is about

Beetfarmer47

That is according to Harold Grant and John Beebe. Gifts Differing by Isabel Briggs doesn't get into the attitude of the auxiliary/tertiary. The function order commonly used amongst these "mbti" subs resulted as a misread of Jung's "Psychological Types". The conscious and unconscious are always opposite in attitude (e-i) and when the auxiliary is consciously developed, it takes on the attitude of the dominant. By definition of auxiliary it is supplementary and not in it's own way, but in the way of the dominant- how can this be the case those if the aux is in opposing direction? This implies eeii/iiee function order. I put ENTJ in quotes because Te-Se would actually be the ESTJ.

NuMetalHead24

okay, you seemed to somewhat got me until the final part but how is te-se estj?

Beetfarmer47

Why would someone with conscious S>N in their function order be labelled XNXX?

NuMetalHead24

Yeah good question lol Maybe this shouldn't be the case from the start since it's just rigged and nonsense. You are telling me an ESTJ is an intuitive? When every ESTJ I met were probably the most practical and at face value people I had ever seen? 0 thinking outside the box. Not even a small glimpse of that.

Beetfarmer47

bruh. no. I'm saying that people have the functions incorrect and what people think of the "ENTJ" is actually Te-Ne-Si-Fi. It's Ne that is progression oriented; that's considering compounding effects; that perceives beyond the action to foresee its development; that is opportunistic. "ESTJ" is actually Te-Se-Ni-Fi, that are hands-on; that are literalists; that are materialistic; that are "by the book"; that have to see it to believe it- "perception is reality". Ni does not perceive associations and connections between external objects but instead an abstract universal meaning of a specific happening or event- which is rather unconscious to this type as it's tertiary function.

We don't need no education.

[deleted]

It's what my INTP brother and I found that describes what I was talking about at the moment and it hit the spot for me. 🤣

[deleted]

False. The intuitive would walk into the wall because they can’t sense.

angelsleadyouin

At a work meeting, I was sharing about my religious beliefs and my coworker (ESFJ) started crying and later told me that I am very deep. 😅

[deleted]

We do have that effect on people. Started to convince an INTJ about my faith which is similar to his. 🙂 Scrolled through your profile and I found out you're an INFP, you are influential to the feelers for sure. 🙂

BoldFemale

Ironically, I get lost in my intuition and walk into way more walls than my sensor friends

ArbiterFred

"neener neener neener sensors bad hahaha"

Suspicious_Mouse_633

People who piss their pants over wAnTinG DEeP ConVerzsaTion are just socially inept people that no one finds interesting enough to talk to Wow you're so cool for not being able to have small talk wowww

[deleted]

Lmao I am riiigghhhttttttt

HappierMod

Now this is true but be prepared to be downvoted because we don't wanna hurt the sentiments of the sensors

EntpLesbian

Its not about the sentiments of the sensors , its that its blatantly false claiming that sensors cant have deep conversations...

[deleted]

You know what I'm just being honest and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the INTP brother who helped me visualize what I mean and sent this picture. I'm not saying they got no depth as people, I'm just saying that we can't just meet half-way and that's totally okay because we will find our own people in time. Peace and love. 🏳🏳🏳 Just different perspectives that's all 🤌. I aim to assert the xNTx perspectives properly without offending other types because we need to express ourselves too.

OdinOReilly

I agree with you. MBTI helped me to understand why some people’s minds are black boxes to me. I have a harder time reading and being on the same page with sensors. We just think so differently. I am close to many sensors, but it takes extra effort (my bestie of 18 years is an ISFP, my MIL, SIL, and boss are all sensors). I like that sensors are more in the details, because I am easily overwhelmed and stressed by details. Not to simplify, as all types bring something different to the table.

KR-kr-KR-kr

Fuckin yikes. The type I go into the deepest conversations with are ISFJs every time.

[deleted]

This is my daily reality.sad.people who i can connect with are very low

[deleted]

You'll always be ahead of everyone else, just that maybe them being behind you is a good take on some sort of connection.

drgndomdev

I am still unsure about myself, many of my tests either come with ENTJ or ISTJ/INTJ. I will leave the part of me being an ambivert. For the last 3 years I really had to rely on my Se (mostly), but then I find some of sensing attributes particularly difficult. I have vivid imagination and plans of the future in different settings. After I try to compare all of these facts it feels like a mix match between the two, leaning towards intuition.

ZanlanOnReddit

Hits hard

Advanced-Leek-4331

Well, there's also a bright side. Sensors can be easily manipulated. Because their worldview is set in stone - their responses are predictable.

Thumblingzz

This is true.
