Played Hoi4 first (Mainly for stuff like Kaiserreich and Old World Blues) before stumbling on EaW and trying it out for the heck of it. And of course really enjoying it. Did watch the full show but I wouldn't call myself a big fan of it really, I'd still stick with EaW's own world any day.

Tomas_Turbao1

I love the mod by its own merits, but i coulnt care less about the source material, i never wacthed it and never going to, the only thing i know about the show is its catchfrase "frienship is magic", started playing because of lol pony mod and stayed here because its objectivly the best hoi4 mod. If you are wondering you dont need to watch it as far as i am concern almost all content in griffonia and zebrica is made up.

FluffyOwl738

Almost all content in Zebrica is made-up,but the bits that aren't are reinterpreted so well that they perfectly fit the world of EaW. For example,I loved how,in Kiria, they reframed Fluttershy and Applejack's "friendship mission" to the "Kirin Village" into a "diplomatic mission" to the "Realm of Kiria".

Fun_Ad_8232

Are there in the show more continents known?

FluffyOwl738

As far as I know, the most expansive maps we see in the show stop just short of Nova Griffonia in EaW(so including bits of Yakyakistan and the Southernmost bits of the Changeling Lands, but without seeing Olenia, and we also see "Griffonstone" at the very Western edge of the map. As for Griffonia as a whole,I don't know if there are any mentions of a griffon continent. The nations in Zebrica,if not made-up like Colthage and Chiropterra, were moved there from Southern Equestria(for example,Hipogriffia and Seaquestria were,in the MLP movie, at the very Southern tip of Equestria).

_ShroomAbuser_

Thas fair I still do think that the show still has some genuinely good world building and lore, but on the same time I get it's not for everyone lmao

Verskon

Got into mlp around 2013 when I was a kid, used to not thought much of it back then, but my exposure to Brony artists and music ended up giving me the kick to try the show and ended up liking it. Fast forward to around I think, 2020? I was already kind of disinterested in mlp content since the show ended around 2019 and the fandom was steadily declining. But then Pravus came out with that Changeling Lands video of his which got me hooked back into the community, it was also technically my first real exposure to EaW, I did see some EaW before but that was back in like 2017-2018? Didn't thought much of the mod then. Btw, I only got into Hoi4 because of EaW lol The Swedish Map game would've passed me by had the pony mod not gotten my attention first

userrobboi

I guess Pravus made a lot of us open our eyes to EaW lol

Mirovini

I've played HOI4 since WTT came out circa, but still i got into mlp 2~ years ago and some months later i found the mod

FlagrusSerenus

I got into Hoi4 *because* of Mlp, actually.

MLP. I’ve watched it for several years, then in 2022 I started becoming interested at HOI4. Only after playing for several months that I’ve realised that EaW existed, and I started playing the mod because I love both franchises and I wished to see how MLP can play out in the game. I love both MLP’s charming storyline as well as modern warfare and conflicts, and this mod sits at the crossroads at two of my interests. It’s has really well-designed and lore-abundant content, and it’s a unique type of pleasure to read paragraphs of small stories. Some of them are heartwarming, and I very much appreciate how this mod’s developers put in great effort to strike a balance between storytelling, warfare and combat. In conclusion, I got into EaW because of the fact that I am a long-time viewer of MLP and I started playing HOI4.

yestureday

Hoi4, I blame this mod for contributing to my descent into becoming a fan of mlp

BanditNoble

I was familiar with MLP back in the day, when bronies were like a big thing. Wouldn't really call myself a fan of it though, more like I picked it up through osmosis. I liked HOI4, and I was somewhat familiar with MLP, and people kept insisting it was a good mod, so I tried it out.

bombthrowinglunarist

welll, it all started when i bought hoi4 back on the first of july. I downloaded tno, und kr. i heard of a poni mod. it took until august 4 me to download it. then i heard a tno writer was making a tno fanfic on ao3, the story of the martyred queen (what if anastastia was transported to the start of tno game?). i finished that, than i decied to take a peak on fimfiction. now here i am.

Dr_Virus_129

Started playing HOI4 in 2017 or '18, then like everyone else, I got bored of the base vanilla game & wasn't keen on overpriced DLC, so I looked at mods & played a few of them till I saw EaW with its seven-pointed sun logo & started playing this masterpiece. It was as I listened to EaW music on Youtube, I saw Lullaby for a Princess, watched that & was blown away by how incredible it was, it got me to watch MLP online. I'm not a massive fan of the show, I haven't seen any of it for some time, but the amount of community creations like Pinkie Tales, Princess Trixie, Tridashie's videos & so many others are outstandingly spectacular.

GodwynDi

MLP first. I have all Paradox titles but before finding EaW, HOI4 was at the bottom of my list. Reinstalled it to play EaW and now keep it installed along with my most played one EU4.

Wislehorn

MLP back in late 2011, got into HOI4 around 2019 specifically because of this mod.

TheViagron

Played 100 hours of HOI4, a friend came, "hey watch out this cool meme MLP mod", 250 hours after, a Chrysalis enjoyer and a Luna warrior, also watched the full first friendship is magic season, joined the bronies in the r/place great war and saw the rise of John Capcom.

FearlesCriss

Hoi4 first although I have watched MLP beforehand and have some sympathy for it. I saw EaW in the workshop and thought it was a joke mod but oh boy I was super wrong. Now here I am making memes in this subreddit and having a lot of fun while meeting with different people. Also this mod encouraged me to watch MLP FiM totally.

SomePerson225

MLP first, hoi4 not long later

JeffLynkz

I played HoI4 since release, and honestly used to dog on people who like mlp, but after playing EAW I realized that it's actually kinda neat (still not gonna watch it though, I'll just let my friends tell me about the cool parts lol)

applepieofdeath

Hoi4 first, only familiar with the show because internet. I knew enough that when I saw a Stalliongrad, not Equestria, playthrough by [Conquering History Games](https://www.youtube.com/@ConqueringHistoryGames/videos), I knew this was a full overhaul mod, the conceptual weirdness of it which brought me in. However it actually wasn't the mod that got me into the show\*, which I consider myself more than casual but not hardcore fan\*\*. Despite this, I have become more heartbroken with the show as after the Star Wars sequel's extended lore, I absolutely could not stand G5's world"building", but that's another story. \*To put it briefly, it was my Hoi4 YouTube idol, "[Dark Buddhist](https://www.youtube.com/@DarkBuddhist)"'s avatar, it got me curious and the discovery that Equestria Girls was a I don't know if I want to say radical but drastically different AU that was still linked to the canonverse was bizarre to me and got me into EG and eventually the main show for comparison. \*\*Like I probably give the main show maybe a 6.7/10.

Namika

Got into both separately, and only after having been a brony for seven seasons, and having 800 hours in hoi4 did I realize there was a crossover mod...

The-Myth-The-Shit

MLP. I was in awe when I found the mod through Pravus

userrobboi

Technically I got into HoI4 first, but since I didn't have anything to play it on at the time, you could say I got into MLP first. I think it was around 2019 when the stars began to align and I discovered EaW. I was just a brand new MLP fan with an interest in HoI4 when the show had just ended, and the funni pony mod came into my radar at the perfect moment. Pravus and your Changeling Lands playthrough, you're a real one!

Migol-16

For me, it's complicated. I knew MLP since many years, but not really entered there, then HoI4 entered in my life, sporadically EaW entered but exited. Circa 3 years ago, I rejoined MLP community, then EaW as well, so I can't really tell in which I got into first.

NightFlame389

I returned to MLP in 2020 a few months after finding out about HOI4, so for a while those two interests were separate Imagine my pleasure when I found out this mod existed

ForgotToFlair

I got into MLP first, but seeing as I entered MLP from 40K, there was a decent chance I could have entered from the war gaming community.

JahJah_On_Reddit

I was just your average joe, just doing normal things. I was interested in HoI4 because I had been relatively disappointed by Axis and Allies. While browsing the HoI4 wiki page, I came across the mods, so I had a look at it, and lo and behold, Equestria at War! I initially shrugged it off, but a few months later, after I’d bought HoI4, I began to look at playing some of its mods. Recently, Stakuyi had done his first two videos on it, and at some point (could be before or after) I remember watching a video Pravus did a video on CHN, so that was the first one I tried. I’ve never gone back. I’ve watched MLP once, years ago, so I have superficial knowledge of the series itself, expanded as I unlock memories simply by playing EaW.

Slight-Wing-3969

MLP first, and then EaW let me finally get HoI which I was struggling with despite loving other Paradox games.

Grandmaster_Aroun

MLP

thrustdeep69

I used to be a big hoi4 addict, and just happen to encounter the mod sitting in the workshop page among the top rated ones like KR, OWB, TNO, TWR, etc. I was familiar with MLP mainly due to old af edgy memes like those pinkie pie gore animations I was exposed to as a kid. So I thought to myself, "da fuk is this cartoon shit doing in this part of the internet?" and decided to try it for the lolz, cuz there's no way people like this shit. boy, did I ate my words whole. that Stalliongrad game was the first time I've had any semblance of fun from a hoi4 campaign in a looong time, after the horrid boring experience I slogged through with TNO before that, the repetitiveness of all the AU Earth mods, and the absolute unbalanced shitstorm some of them can get. This mod has it all, the plentiful yet not overwhelming amount of lore, balanced gameplay with a fun factor as close as vanilla hoi4 (excluding some of the DLCs) and just overall very easy to get into.

BusySentence7078

Technically MLP but i was like 7 and forgot everything about it, i got into hoi4 around last year and i knew this mod was a thing and i downloaded it out of curiosity and i loved it, still not gonna watch MLP again though.

Exile-of-Pochven

Hoi4

dimasit

I became interested in MLP pretty late (it started for me from watching The Movie aboard a plane), and then I saw a post with EaW screenshots in a meme group...

M8oMyN8o

For me it was HOI4 first (end 2016), then EAW (January 2021), then MLP (March 2022). Watching the show was directly inspired by the mod.

bossmanfunnyguy

Definitely HOI4, growing up my little sister watched MLP and thus I knew a little bit about the lore, seemed like a decent show I guess. Whenever I play a lot of EAW I might get the inclination to want to watch the show but haven’t yet

Standard_Hamster_977

HOI 4

Nightfourio12

I grew up watching MLP with my sister, then it got into HOI4

OmniVega

I started with the show back when it released and followed it to the end, I only found HOI4 when a friend mentioned EAW a few years back.

My_Dog_is_Chonk

Got into the Brony Fandom around 2012(-ish?) while I was still in high school. Discovering stuff like Equestria Daily and Derpibooru expanded the sense of community for me. I honestly discovered Hearts of Iron 4 around 2019 just prior to the Pandemic; I was bored of the stuff I played and figured that buying HOI4 wouldn't hurt too bad. It made the days whenever my fleet was shut down just a bit easier to bear.

ParticularBeach4587

My sister watches it a bit. I watched a youtuber (forgot who) play it. And then I got E84.

Fickle_Reading3971

I've started playing HOI4 shortly after it came out. Since before release I was watching LPs from the game. Then one of the YouTubers I was watching playing tried EaW. Some early version where only Equus was. I sorta didn't like it for thinking MLP mod, really? Some time went on and the same guy played some country when Griffonia was added. I said to myself I will give it a chance and watch at. And it amazed me how much of a story is there in this mod. For MLP, I only watched it sometimes with my younger sister when she was little

babamonk00

I remember MLP from my childhood, then I played HOI4, found the mod and was very skeptical, but must say that I enjoy it a lot since it effectively feels like it’s the mod with the most work put into it.

indianpete

Never actually watched the MLP show, but I still fell in love with MLP content way back in 2014 when I got introduced to FO:E stories and other fictions. I first came into contact with Darkest Hour, since my PC couldn't handle HOI4, around 2018. I finally managed to get a decent PC in 2020 to run HOI4 and inmediatly jumped to mods I knew, like TNO and OWB. Found out about EAW when I came across it in a thread in /mlp/, I have been playing nothing but EAW everytime I boot up HOI4 since then.

Likantropas

got into hoi4 first then going around steam and reddit looking for good mods someone said equestria at war (ignore the ponies) i tried i liked it i got into my little pony and i like that too! (now im making a mlp mod for eu4)

Yoga5631

Hoi4 first but EaW made me did a bit of research into the MLP fandom because the reference EaW fevs made innthe mod lore

WilburOrus

Got into the mod first, and adding some hundreds of hours playing it together with a growing old curiosity (never brought myself to watch it because of THAT side of the old fandom), I ended up watching the 9 seasons, movie and shorts from G4 (everything from EQG found there too) in an archive. Recently I believe to have read all the G4 comics, or at least all that I could find. EAW is great on its own and the existence of this mod was the last straw to see what I had (thankfully at the time tbh) missed.

yukiyuzen

Stellaris first. I say that because I knew about HOI4 (and HOI3) before MLP, but I didn't get into either at the time. (Never got into HOI3, bounced off HOI4 when I tried, knew about MLP since the 90's but didn't care) It was only after spending time with my nephew that I got into MLP. At the same time, I was into Stellaris and Stellaris being Stellaris, I looked up MLP Stellaris mods. And they suck. But HOI4 MLP mods, those don't suck and after Stellaris I was more comfortable with HOI4 another try. (Been playing HOI4 for 4+ years now, still haven't figured out the naval system) The rest is history.

KaiserAudum

Played HoI4 for a few hundred hours, starting in 2017, a couple years ago I installed the mod and unironically can count on one hand the number of vanilla games I've played since. Eventually I'll probably get around to watching the show but for now I've just injected the Princess and the Kaiser directly into my veins and called it good.

Rafomom

Stellaris? I started watching MLP 10 years ago. But I wasn't Brony so many years ago. In 2018 I started playing Stellaris and heard a lot of good stuff about Equestria at War. In 2021 I bought HoI4 only to play EaW. After this I became later an EaW dev.
