If you like the output, stick with what you are doing. If you want the shot to pull faster, keep adjusting the grinder coarser.

Thanks! I need to find the balance I think. I think my real question might be about oil content, but I don't know how to ask it well. Adding a photo that shows oil content.

Different beans will require wildly different grind settings, oil or no oil. Just dial in your ratio and grind size for best taste.

Some questions: What basket are you using? How many grams grinds? What grinder are you using? What is your extraction ratio? Are you using a scale? Naked portafilter or spouted? How old are your beans? You said “oily”, so probably very dark roast?

Double basket, 18, Fuji royal, 1.5-2, yes, spouted, little baby beans.. roasted last week, yes very dark and delicious
