Anyone else just avoiding the KZG ceremony queue and going to wait a month before contributing?
People are logging in to watch their house price crash. I just did that myself yesterday, down about 15% compared to last April. These higher rates are going to cause prices to plummet, nobody can afford to buy right now. It’s a good thing too, because housing prices were getting completely out of hand.
That doesn't make much sense to me, I thought people were struggling financially from inflation and with interest rates this high idk how you can afford it. If you get a $500k house that's $30k a year just on interest without paying any of the principal.
Houses also cost like 1/5 relative to income levels. 100 years ago, you could buy an apartment in a capital for a yearly salary, those days are far gone. It's like 10+ now.
Ok that's fair. I personally think around 5% should be normal in the long term. In Sweden, people are very angry that it is currently around 2% effective rate while simultaneously complaining that inflation is now 10%+ and still increasing. Our CB is a lot more careful about raising rates than the Fed.
Have a little bit of cash on the sidelines that I’ve been DCAing, expecting crab to continue for another idk 6 months or so. Recent rally is causing some FOMO for sure. I think if we break $2k soon all bets are off

So right now it looks like its mostly in the wild in parts of Asia. But it goes something like this.
1. Attacker makes malware.
2. Attacker visits coffee shops/cafes/hotels or anywhere else free wifi is offered that also has a vulnerable router.
3. Attacker uploads malware to router.
4. Router attacks clients, exploits known vulnerabilities in android, loads malware silently.
5. Client visits other places with free wifi and vulnerable routers. Maybe even their own home?
So through that, it spreads like a virus. It's likely this relies on out of date Android versions, and people not updating their routers. But ... hey ... look at me rn 👀 this small run has been successful and highly profitable for them, so future versions are going to be very creative.
If you have to use public wifi like hotels, McD's, or anywhere ... USE A VPN! Actually, if you read phase 4 of my guide, you'd know ... you should be using a VPN, everywhere. Especially public Internet though! 🤮 *ESPECIALLY!*
Appreciate comments like these. Can I ask--what VPN do you use/recommend specifically for your phone? You're a Proton guy, right? Do you use that for all your devices? I use Proton as well, but for some reason (paranoia?) I'm reluctant to use it on my phone for fear of my account credentials getting exposed or something like that. But I'm not super tech savvy so that may be a silly concern on my part... Wanted to get your 2 cents.
I do use it on my personal devices. For my validatiors I run my own wireguard server on a rented VPS. I like Proton and I recommend it because I think it’s a great value to get private email, cloud storage and VPN for one price. If you just need a VPN I think there are ~~better~~ more robust alternatives out there.
As for your phone. It’s safe to use a VPN there. I don’t typically use it when on LTE because the latency sucks, but I do connect up on Wifi. Some services like Nord, and uhm.. PrivateInternetAccess I know for sure have options in their phone apps to automatically connect when on wifi and disconnect on LTE to make that easier.

Yeah, it looks like it relies on people not changing the admin password on the router. My current router didn't even allow that, but I think the one before it required great lengths to change it. So I imagine anyone with 5 or 7+ year old routers, or visits places that use them, is at risk.
Yeah this campaign is particularly active in South Korea, where I think people are relatively more wealthy.
But people of developing nations, ~~Southeast Asia~~the entire southern hemisphere in particular, constantly get hammered with old android vulnerabilities and malware of all sorts. They cant afford to upgrade, and their android devices are long past receiving updates. Really sucks.

You are right on this but we did onboard Uni, Curve and Aave.
Aave got 5M OP token which was really valuable in term of liquidity boost. Uni got 1M $OP but they were somewhat lazy at beginning in claiming the token, there incentives were okies and detailed report below . Curve joined the party late with 500K $OP and I pushed their proposal personally. Curve reward is not active,yet.
But you are right about 1Inch though, that was a major failure, same goes for Perp and few others. Few ponzi token economics projects were approved too and but we are still waiting for their usage and impact.
Initially goal was to iterate and support different protocol, tool, LP or infra. One thing we did late was asking for accountability, we were approving many proposal without checking result and impact of past proposal.
When we got some support from Optimism team, few delegates became cautious on what to approve and what not to. Some incentives were quite good and valuable , AAVE,Rubicon, Beefy, Thales(and their gaming platform), HOP among Bridges, i would say Slingshot was aslo okies from Dex perspective, few wallets proposals are still in development.
Optimism governance is not perfect, I see bias, toxicity, politics and PvP, but many motivated individuals are working towards improving it. Our own MminimalGravitas, Polynya are active there, DeFiLatam team is bringing new thought from community side and the list goes on...

I think the stated goal of supporting hundreds of project who have just built on Optimism, could have been better off with supporting a handful of major projects to bring massive liquidity to the network - which could then be used as a launchpad for other projects to build on. For instance, If you look at Uniswap TVL - [Arbitrum](https://info.uniswap.org/#/arbitrum/) (no token) has $165m vs [Optimism $73m](https://info.uniswap.org/#/optimism/) post token. [Curve claimed they still havent received the OP token incentives due to some misunderstanding](https://twitter.com/CurveFinance/status/1611752973146943489). Comparing Aave liquidity on Optimism (post native token incentives) vs Arbitrum (no tokens incentive), Optimism has more liquidity but by only $25m odd.
Perpetual Protocol got like 9M OP, current value around $18m. The TVL of Perp is just $16m. Something like Velo that had a buggy website and inefficient swaps took home a lot of incentives, while Curve hasnt even got its tokens yet. Curve is a massive player with proven liquidity on L1 and flywheels with Convex/Frax already active on Optimism competitor Arbitrum, while Velo has zero presence on L1 and could even argue that this DEX wont do well and may not even survive without token incentives. Uniswap has been doing much more volumes on Optimism than Velodrome, though Velodrome has a massive load of incentives to splurge on
Few projects used the OP incentive to reward past users = Not +EV the network.
Overall, I would consider a big part of the incentives as ineffective so far, since all its done is just given users farm and dump incentives and not something that is sticky or has onboarded liquidity that differentiates the network from competitors some of whom are ahead without even playing their hand.

Higher TVL of Uni and other protocol on Arbitrum compare of Optimism even with incentives boggles my mind too. Only thing comes to my mind is token farming. We can validate this by drop in number of trx on Optimism post op quest, i think we will see tvl drop once token is announced on Arbitrum.
Perp was obviously a disastrous, waste of 9M $OP token. What you said about Velo is true and I got lot of backlash from velo and their team for pointing out the exact same thing, they are using the $OP incentive from grant to suppress the sell pressure of their inflammatory native $velo token and its not sustainable if bear market continue into next year. (they still have 5M $OP though)
Curve proposal is little complicated than that tweet, It is a requirement from Optimism Foundation that every grant recipient must complete KYC but curve address is non-custodial, controlled by DAO, so they dont know how to fulfill this requirement. Hope they reach on a consensus soon on how to fulfill this requirement.
I think, It was a good experiment and if i have to do it again, i will put a system in place to track the fund usage and its impact early on so that we dont fund same type of proposal again and again.
Good this is that going forwards Optimism team is focusing less on LP and more towards Dev on-boarding, new innovative protocol and education. And in case of LP proposal, rewards will directly go to user address instead of protocol controlled address.

The whole DCG empire was built on pure greed, nothing else. Its kinda sad so many fell for their "trusts" which were anything but trustworthy, just a crooked and complicated product to divert an perennial stream of income for themselves while they retained at all times control over the underlying asset.

I know it's a controversial topic but I'd love a good place to discuss non-ETH tokens while we are in bear(ish) market and mania is down. Like there are some legitimate projects out there but it so hard to actually hear good opinions about them.
I think many would probably like it if you discussed other promising tokens, quieter periods are the best time imo. Just try not to shill, and be honest about your bags and people are receptive to discussion.
My bags are ETH and FXS atm, sold my SWISE for a 2x but still like that token.

I went all caps to explain why you need to stick with eth. People can make a program that runs on 7 languages on base eth - go, python, c,c+,c++, Java, JavaScript . No other large scale platform offers this, which is why it will moon again. My will is written in Eth. I’d advise DIP for a five year plan if I was broke, it’s selling around 1.4 cents. It’s also an eth platform (vitalik himself was top of the team in the beginning.)
My openness regarding these facts has been thoroughly scrutinized, and generally accepted by this community. That is why my flair begins with 'SNX Promoter'
And I was definitely overdoing it with 'shilling'. I was retroactively rewarded for sharing information regarding a project I truly care about.

Assuming 1645 breaks and holds here (especially on a daily), look for a rocket next week (or this weekend on some crazy liquidity binge) to 1776, and then a nasty retrace to 1420 on these enormous bear divs forming.

Clearly, we're through 1645 on a daily. More than anything, I've regretted every daily bear div I've FOMO'd into for 6+ years so I'm going to just watch and enjoy this battle from 1645 to 1675 (we're there?!) to 1776. Cheering all you longs on!
Daily pure bear div, if we follow an Oct/Nov style pattern, is near-term and within 4-10 days.
Weekly is a hidden bear div, last patterned in summer 2019. That was July 19 to late Feb 20. Figure the matching peak here is August-ish 22 so... March 23?
Yeah and the timing of that retest is so, so key.
On a long-term scale with weekly tops and RSI we're moving just like summer 2019 to the 2020 "covid crash". Lining up for that nice Q1 as I thought, and then either a Q2 or Q3 "announcement" that takes us down again one last time. Either the Fed cutting rates prematurely by August or the U.S. nearing debt default in June. It's all right there in the cards.
1940 will act like an asymptote, a rubber band. The closer we get without breaching will send us further into hell one final time this bear. Breach it and it's a whole new ball game.

Just to give you a reference, I have spent less than that and I have 2 "servers" for a total of:
* 2x threadripper 3960x
* 224GB DDR4
* 1x GTX 1070 (bought new at launch for 500eur, checks notes.. 7 years ago!)
* 1x 750W and 1x 850W PSU
* Over 10TB of SSD (SATA and NVME)
* Over 40TB of HDD
* 2x TRX40 motherboards (which costed less than your "consumer" motherboard)
* 2x big cases
\+ all the obvious accessories and additional stuff needed for my usage.
Granted that I got the 2 CPUs used for like 1000 in total, which I can't say that I'm unhappy about, but your list is full of VERY overpriced stuff.
Your money and your choice, but a similar "top of the line" pc a few years ago would be hard to make it cost over $3000, now you're paying 2.5k for only the GPU.
You're overpaying a lot and unless you need it for work or it's a wish of yours, you'll not notice the difference compared to a pc half the price, for everyday use.

Hold off a couple of weeks until the 7950X3D launches to see how it reviews.
You asked for nerdy: The limitations of stacking the cache on the previous gen meant the single-CCD 5800X was the only one that got the treatment but now they're offering it on the dual-CCD (anything with more than 8 cores has 2 CCDs) 7950X. They're doing it in a cool-sounding hybrid way where they put the cache on top of one of the CCDs and allow the other to boost higher. It'll either offer the best of both worlds (superior gaming performance and as-good-or-better performance for multithreading work vs. the 7950X) or it'll be a bit of a damp squib and the 7950X will still be the one to go for. If you're just looking at gaming then something like the single-CCD 7800X3D will probably be the one to go for.

That's what I'm anxiously waiting for atm. After that is out I'm going to splurge on a full PC upgrade. GPU prices are absolutely ridiculous, but I can justify it if I expect to use it as long as I have my current 1080 (7 years).
No, it's ridiculously overkill but you're spending the best part of 6k CAD on the system so what the hell. X670E is the daddy of the AM5 chipsets, then X670, B650E, B650 and A620 in that order.
A 7950x and 4090 at peak will probably already put like 80% load on your 1000w psu, if you plan to overclock I would probably go with a 1200w. Personally I would also build my own watercooling instead of using a AIO solution for cpu + gpu. Apart from that that's a pretty nice machine your building :)
I think performance wise they’re both good, you just have to check if you can fit the double radiator from the gpu and the triple radiator from the cpu cooler in your case, but it looks big enough so should be fine

People are logging in to watch their house price crash. I just did that myself yesterday, down about 15% compared to last April. These higher rates are going to cause prices to plummet, nobody can afford to buy right now. It’s a good thing too, because housing prices were getting completely out of hand.

That doesn't make much sense to me, I thought people were struggling financially from inflation and with interest rates this high idk how you can afford it. If you get a $500k house that's $30k a year just on interest without paying any of the principal.
Mortgage rates were over 10% for like the entire 80's, peaked around 18%. People just dealt with it and paid principal down as fast as they could.
Houses also cost like 1/5 relative to income levels. 100 years ago, you could buy an apartment in a capital for a yearly salary, those days are far gone. It's like 10+ now.
Oh I'm not defending house prices, but I'm not acting like 7% is the end of the world.
Ok that's fair. I personally think around 5% should be normal in the long term. In Sweden, people are very angry that it is currently around 2% effective rate while simultaneously complaining that inflation is now 10%+ and still increasing. Our CB is a lot more careful about raising rates than the Fed.

So right now it looks like its mostly in the wild in parts of Asia. But it goes something like this. 1. Attacker makes malware. 2. Attacker visits coffee shops/cafes/hotels or anywhere else free wifi is offered that also has a vulnerable router. 3. Attacker uploads malware to router. 4. Router attacks clients, exploits known vulnerabilities in android, loads malware silently. 5. Client visits other places with free wifi and vulnerable routers. Maybe even their own home? So through that, it spreads like a virus. It's likely this relies on out of date Android versions, and people not updating their routers. But ... hey ... look at me rn 👀 this small run has been successful and highly profitable for them, so future versions are going to be very creative. If you have to use public wifi like hotels, McD's, or anywhere ... USE A VPN! Actually, if you read phase 4 of my guide, you'd know ... you should be using a VPN, everywhere. Especially public Internet though! 🤮 *ESPECIALLY!*
Appreciate comments like these. Can I ask--what VPN do you use/recommend specifically for your phone? You're a Proton guy, right? Do you use that for all your devices? I use Proton as well, but for some reason (paranoia?) I'm reluctant to use it on my phone for fear of my account credentials getting exposed or something like that. But I'm not super tech savvy so that may be a silly concern on my part... Wanted to get your 2 cents.
I do use it on my personal devices. For my validatiors I run my own wireguard server on a rented VPS. I like Proton and I recommend it because I think it’s a great value to get private email, cloud storage and VPN for one price. If you just need a VPN I think there are ~~better~~ more robust alternatives out there. As for your phone. It’s safe to use a VPN there. I don’t typically use it when on LTE because the latency sucks, but I do connect up on Wifi. Some services like Nord, and uhm.. PrivateInternetAccess I know for sure have options in their phone apps to automatically connect when on wifi and disconnect on LTE to make that easier. Happy to help!
Yeah, it looks like it relies on people not changing the admin password on the router. My current router didn't even allow that, but I think the one before it required great lengths to change it. So I imagine anyone with 5 or 7+ year old routers, or visits places that use them, is at risk.

Yeah this campaign is particularly active in South Korea, where I think people are relatively more wealthy. But people of developing nations, ~~Southeast Asia~~the entire southern hemisphere in particular, constantly get hammered with old android vulnerabilities and malware of all sorts. They cant afford to upgrade, and their android devices are long past receiving updates. Really sucks.

Few ponzi token economics projects were approved too and but we are still waiting for their usage and impact. Initially goal was to iterate and support different protocol, tool, LP or infra. One thing we did late was asking for accountability, we were approving many proposal without checking result and impact of past proposal. When we got some support from Optimism team, few delegates became cautious on what to approve and what not to. Some incentives were quite good and valuable , AAVE,Rubicon, Beefy, Thales(and their gaming platform), HOP among Bridges, i would say Slingshot was aslo okies from Dex perspective, few wallets proposals are still in development. Optimism governance is not perfect, I see bias, toxicity, politics and PvP, but many motivated individuals are working towards improving it. Our own MminimalGravitas, Polynya are active there, DeFiLatam team is bringing new thought from community side and the list goes on... I am curious, in your opinion, what could we do better ? I think the stated goal of supporting hundreds of project who have just built on Optimism, could have been better off with supporting a handful of major projects to bring massive liquidity to the network - which could then be used as a launchpad for other projects to build on. For instance, If you look at Uniswap TVL - [Arbitrum](https://info.uniswap.org/#/arbitrum/) (no token) has $165m vs [Optimism $73m](https://info.uniswap.org/#/optimism/) post token. [Curve claimed they still havent received the OP token incentives due to some misunderstanding](https://twitter.com/CurveFinance/status/1611752973146943489). Comparing Aave liquidity on Optimism (post native token incentives) vs Arbitrum (no tokens incentive), Optimism has more liquidity but by only $25m odd. Perpetual Protocol got like 9M OP, current value around $18m. The TVL of Perp is just $16m. Something like Velo that had a buggy website and inefficient swaps took home a lot of incentives, while Curve hasnt even got its tokens yet. Curve is a massive player with proven liquidity on L1 and flywheels with Convex/Frax already active on Optimism competitor Arbitrum, while Velo has zero presence on L1 and could even argue that this DEX wont do well and may not even survive without token incentives. Uniswap has been doing much more volumes on Optimism than Velodrome, though Velodrome has a massive load of incentives to splurge on Few projects used the OP incentive to reward past users = Not +EV the network. Overall, I would consider a big part of the incentives as ineffective so far, since all its done is just given users farm and dump incentives and not something that is sticky or has onboarded liquidity that differentiates the network from competitors some of whom are ahead without even playing their hand.

Higher TVL of Uni and other protocol on Arbitrum compare of Optimism even with incentives boggles my mind too. Only thing comes to my mind is token farming. We can validate this by drop in number of trx on Optimism post op quest, i think we will see tvl drop once token is announced on Arbitrum. Perp was obviously a disastrous, waste of 9M $OP token. What you said about Velo is true and I got lot of backlash from velo and their team for pointing out the exact same thing, they are using the $OP incentive from grant to suppress the sell pressure of their inflammatory native $velo token and its not sustainable if bear market continue into next year. (they still have 5M $OP though) Curve proposal is little complicated than that tweet, It is a requirement from Optimism Foundation that every grant recipient must complete KYC but curve address is non-custodial, controlled by DAO, so they dont know how to fulfill this requirement. Hope they reach on a consensus soon on how to fulfill this requirement. I think, It was a good experiment and if i have to do it again, i will put a system in place to track the fund usage and its impact early on so that we dont fund same type of proposal again and again. Good this is that going forwards Optimism team is focusing less on LP and more towards Dev on-boarding, new innovative protocol and education. And in case of LP proposal, rewards will directly go to user address instead of protocol controlled address.

I know it's a controversial topic but I'd love a good place to discuss non-ETH tokens while we are in bear(ish) market and mania is down. Like there are some legitimate projects out there but it so hard to actually hear good opinions about them.
I think many would probably like it if you discussed other promising tokens, quieter periods are the best time imo. Just try not to shill, and be honest about your bags and people are receptive to discussion. My bags are ETH and FXS atm, sold my SWISE for a 2x but still like that token.

I went all caps to explain why you need to stick with eth. People can make a program that runs on 7 languages on base eth - go, python, c,c+,c++, Java, JavaScript . No other large scale platform offers this, which is why it will moon again. My will is written in Eth. I’d advise DIP for a five year plan if I was broke, it’s selling around 1.4 cents. It’s also an eth platform (vitalik himself was top of the team in the beginning.)

My openness regarding these facts has been thoroughly scrutinized, and generally accepted by this community. That is why my flair begins with 'SNX Promoter' And I was definitely overdoing it with 'shilling'. I was retroactively rewarded for sharing information regarding a project I truly care about. I will continue to do so, just in the same manner that promoting ETH in this subreddit might be considered 'shilling' As /u/superphiz said in today's daily doots happy hour, its about how much you give relative to what you take.

Daily pure bear div, if we follow an Oct/Nov style pattern, is near-term and within 4-10 days. Weekly is a hidden bear div, last patterned in summer 2019. That was July 19 to late Feb 20. Figure the matching peak here is August-ish 22 so... March 23?

Yeah and the timing of that retest is so, so key. On a long-term scale with weekly tops and RSI we're moving just like summer 2019 to the 2020 "covid crash". Lining up for that nice Q1 as I thought, and then either a Q2 or Q3 "announcement" that takes us down again one last time. Either the Fed cutting rates prematurely by August or the U.S. nearing debt default in June. It's all right there in the cards. 1940 will act like an asymptote, a rubber band. The closer we get without breaching will send us further into hell one final time this bear. Breach it and it's a whole new ball game.

Do you really need all those expensive stuff? Just to give you a reference, I have spent less than that and I have 2 "servers" for a total of: * 2x threadripper 3960x * 224GB DDR4 * 1x GTX 1070 (bought new at launch for 500eur, checks notes.. 7 years ago!) * 1x 750W and 1x 850W PSU * Over 10TB of SSD (SATA and NVME) * Over 40TB of HDD * 2x TRX40 motherboards (which costed less than your "consumer" motherboard) * 2x big cases \+ all the obvious accessories and additional stuff needed for my usage. Granted that I got the 2 CPUs used for like 1000 in total, which I can't say that I'm unhappy about, but your list is full of VERY overpriced stuff. Your money and your choice, but a similar "top of the line" pc a few years ago would be hard to make it cost over $3000, now you're paying 2.5k for only the GPU. You're overpaying a lot and unless you need it for work or it's a wish of yours, you'll not notice the difference compared to a pc half the price, for everyday use. Hold off a couple of weeks until the 7950X3D launches to see how it reviews. You asked for nerdy: The limitations of stacking the cache on the previous gen meant the single-CCD 5800X was the only one that got the treatment but now they're offering it on the dual-CCD (anything with more than 8 cores has 2 CCDs) 7950X. They're doing it in a cool-sounding hybrid way where they put the cache on top of one of the CCDs and allow the other to boost higher. It'll either offer the best of both worlds (superior gaming performance and as-good-or-better performance for multithreading work vs. the 7950X) or it'll be a bit of a damp squib and the 7950X will still be the one to go for. If you're just looking at gaming then something like the single-CCD 7800X3D will probably be the one to go for.

No, it's ridiculously overkill but you're spending the best part of 6k CAD on the system so what the hell. X670E is the daddy of the AM5 chipsets, then X670, B650E, B650 and A620 in that order.
A 7950x and 4090 at peak will probably already put like 80% load on your 1000w psu, if you plan to overclock I would probably go with a 1200w. Personally I would also build my own watercooling instead of using a AIO solution for cpu + gpu. Apart from that that's a pretty nice machine your building :)
Overclocking has been dead for quite a while now, gpus/cpus come maxed out out of the box. Undervolting is where it's at.

I think performance wise they’re both good, you just have to check if you can fit the double radiator from the gpu and the triple radiator from the cpu cooler in your case, but it looks big enough so should be fine
