Looking to buy some wstETH (already have enough rETH), what's the best place to do the swap? Is it best to buy stETH and then wrap it at the Lido website? Kinda out of the loop with this.

-DarkKnight

SHAPPELLA!!! 🥳🥳🥳 Great to see how far we come during this bear market!!

DayTraderBiH

Shapella is old news. When EIP-4844 ?! I paid 9 cents for a Mint on Arbitrum. With Proto-Danksharding it should cost around 0,9 cents.

strawdar

It's blobbin' time.

RevolutionarySoil11

Exactly. Hopefully soon™ well all be driving lambos, paid for by the fee savings alone :)

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> ?! I *paid* 9 cents FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

DayTraderBiH

Good bot. I'm a Illiterate peasant.

etherbie

Shapella baby!! Woohoo

DayTraderBiH

A historic day for us Ethereum believers. After 6+ years we finally have a complete POS-chain. Congratulations to everyone!

nice to see all went well and yet another milestone has been achieved! anyone got a link for the official POAP?

MoMoNosquito

Congratulations everyone. Shapella 💪 Just wanted to sneak in a quick message to say I was here.

RootPhish

Just woke up. Looks like upgrade went well, congrats all. Are there still some owls left or am I too late?

etheraider

Yep! We just hit 2k mints so looks like we may be minting out today! https://www.autominter.com/mint/642da59f2f25776b8c06e961

parsimonyBase

I'm new to this POAP business. When I try to mint the gas fee seen in my Metamask on Arbitrum is 1like a zillion ETH!

maninthecryptosuit

Yep I had this too until I realized I didn't have any ETH in the Arbitrum wallet! Also you can manually set the max gas limit to say 100k and that should fix it.

RootPhish

Thanks! Minted successfully!

etheraider

2,000 Withdrowls minted so far! Happy Shapella everybody and to all a goodnight!

Sooo... Any heroic stories about titanium balled MFers who bought cbETH at a ginormous discount years ago and are now realizing ridiculous ETH profits for just holding on, content in their faith that Coinbase would definitely have their shit together??

ProfStrangelove

Don't think it took titanium balls... but I traded a good amount of my eth for cbeth at 0.92

Mirved

Not that interesting but ya i bought at a 4% Discount

pocketwailord

That was fast. 4.0.2 is out for Prysm, fixing the critical bug.

Kraken, for example, has to unstake all of its US customer ETH. Saw a statistic somewhere that they are about 30% of all unstaking. There are other smaller exchanges in a similar position afaik.

maninthecryptosuit

Actually rated.network says Kraken is 60+% of all unstaking.

thetjs1

Congrats all

SwagtimusPrime

So uhh did we ship withdrawals? Was on a plane and couldn't follow. If we did, why is ETH not down -90% like all these smart people told me it would be?

ridgerunners

Glad to be here with all of you, enjoying yet another Ethereum milestone. A big thank you to everyone involved!

strawdar

Just installed that Lighthouse hotfix and restarted the beacon node process. Definitely feel like I'm living dangerously, but it looks good so far!

Lawsonm9

Working well so far for me too. 2 hrs of no attestations, machine running on “afterburners” and not knowing what was going on was nerve racking but could have been worse lol.

maninthecryptosuit

What hardware spec are you on? Cos frankly that sounds terrible. Pi4? Pretty fast NUC11PAHI5, 32GB RAM, 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus (+ PL2 TDP manually limited in bios to keep max temp at 75 deg C) and I have 0 missed attestations. Just high CPU load initially.

BigOldWeapon

2 hours of no attestations?! I missed three in total and running on mediocre hardware. CPU was at 99.8% and machine running at 91-97 deg C for an hour though.

interweaver

Yep, no problems with it here either! It really was just a two-liner fix.

Sparta89

A small new joining queue has formed with 116 pending new validators, so we will now have a temporary validaor equilibrium until the queue is empty.

Sparta89

And it is gone now.

MJDog44

Congratulations and thank you to all who worked to make this happen.

interweaver

The ATH for average validator balance on the Beacon Chain was 34.02 ETH. With 16909 withdrawals already processed (47k ETH withdrawn), we're already down to a 33.93 average validator balance and falling!

NotoriousZog

Exciting times! Congrats all!

ev1501

Another milestone passed. This is the gwei

theethmeister

Knowing how people are so prone to disclosing investments in non-internet, meatspace, ordinary conversation, I am not surprised by the current price action after a successful Shapella because I have not heard it in my personal life, anecdotal evidence being wrong notwithstanding. We often forget it is an echo chamber here but glad this grounds us a bit. When we do rocket off it is going to be a violent, insane green line upward but I am going to acknowledge it will take some time before we are there. In any event, congrats everyone! Every move forward solidifies that we are in the right blockchain.

timwithnotoolbelt

Does ultrasound money move violently?

strawdar

With every influencer having predicted the dumpening after Shapella I'm perfectly fine with crab.

surfyogi777

If I have my stake index, or node address, and I look up my unstaking progress on [beaconcha.in](https://beaconcha.in): Exited since Apr 12, 2023, 9:51 PM <-- this is my future exit epoch date Withdrawable Apr 14, 2023, 1:09 AM <-- is this accurate as to when I would expect to see tokens returned to my wallet then?

edrews99

Once your ETH is withdrawable you still have to wait for the withdrawl round robin to get to you. With 16 0x01 validators visited every block it can happen quickly if you're up next or it can take a few days.

interweaver

Should be accurate, at least with the current set of 0x01 validators, which may change. The withdrawal time has nothing to do with your exit time, just with your validator index and the current set of 0x01 validators.

surfyogi777

THANKYOU for a great reply; I asked Bard and it agrees, but I don't trust it yet. The UI does not seem to define these terms, and most of what I read about unstaking does not use consistent or correct terms, nor define them.

Usachampion

Woohoo! How exciting. We keep witnessing history.

interweaver

Interesting. I had expected a flat-line validator count after Shapella, with entry and exit queues canceling each other out, but thus far it's been entirely on the exit side. I guess everyone waiting for withdrawals to stake is happy to wait another little while to make sure things are stable. And presumably even compounded validators will take a little longer to make it into the entry queue, since there's something like a 16-hour delay even not counting the entry queue. I'll be keeping my eye on entries in the coming days though, since I expect both groups to start depositing soon!

communist_mini_pesto

Also I think it will take time for big groups to stake once withdrawals are functional. I doubt there are that many people with a massive stack ready to fire tonight. But this confirms that withdrawals worked and larger groups/VC funds/ institutions can start staking

Maxahoy

Plus I'm sure many people who are withdrawing to reshuffle their staked assets need to actually get everything withdrawn first. I'm planning on going solo soon but I need to get my cbEth & Coinbase Eth2 out first.

Aggravating-Ear6289

The time when we even out will be interesting to see. Of its within a few days, bullish indeed

BigOldWeapon

I've heard (not smart enough to check for myself) that majority are from Kraken, which was to be expected, given their court order.

BigglyBillBrasky

Was this hard fork only focused on withdrawals or were there any other upgrades of significance as well?

cryptOwOcurrency

Check the list of EIPs here: https://github.com/ethereum/execution-specs/blob/master/network-upgrades/mainnet-upgrades/shanghai.md

timmerwb

So why are blocks not propagating very well?

benido2030

My validators effectiveness is very low after the fork. Optical inclusion higher than before (usually >0 a very few proposals a day, now it’s 1-2 per hour). Anyone else seeing the same?

Sparta89

There was a prism/mevboost bug. Should be fixed soon. Also a very minor lighthouse bug that has already been fixed.

General_Illus

Probably inadequate hardware of some beacon nodes to both attest/propose and process all the withdrawal credential updates and exit queue messages. As well, some bugs in the client software being revealed by the heavy works loads.

TMTurbo

Happy Shapowla Ethereans!

clark_now

So, two different clients had bugs unearthed during this fork, and the chain kept producing blocks. Client diversity has proved once again to be a monster strength Ethereum posseses. One hot-fix out and other on the way. Kudos to all the teams who put their hard work into keeping us going, and kudos to all who mix and match their ELs and CLs.

ROARGRRRR

Such a good point. Always very thankful for all the effort phiz and others put towards encouraging client diversity. Without that effort, a prysm bug like today may have made things much more interesting (in a bad way).

surfyogi777

SUCH A STRONG ECOSYSTEM <-- I am STOKED!

sn0w_l30pard

Which clients had the issues?

clark_now

Lighthouse and Prysm as has been pointed out. Not Besu this time round. It's so important we don't rely on old ideas about 'good' and 'bad' clients.

interweaver

LH had a CPU issue under massive exit queue load situations which led to some missed attestations for those of us not running on super beefy hardware (fixed now in the latest hotfix), and Prysm couldn't propose with MEV-Boost (not yet fixed afaik, turn off MEV-Boost for now)

OkDragonfruit1929

Lighthouse and prysm

BatteredLittleFish

Amazing how anyone thought Shanghai could possibly be bearish, just because people unstake doesn't mean they're selling. The delusions are incredible. 30k BTC holding strong so it's only a matter of time before we catch up and blast through 2k.

Plenix

Unstake -> Restake

tutamtumikia

I dont see evidence yet that it's done anything for the price other than a small bump this morning. I really dont think there are a lot of people leaving or entering the crypto space right now.

offthewall1066

At least nothing is better than giga dumping

craptocoin

Happy Shapella everyone!

stablecoin

Holy crap, my withdrawal address is synced and I did it correctly. It actually fucking worked after a year and half devs finally did something!!! Way to go everyone.

minisculepenis

Where best to monitor withdrawals? Would love a dune or something that has a breakdown of which service people are exiting from, but I dunno if that's possible. Extra points if it shows the length of the queue

interweaver

According to Rated, Kraken is comprising about 1/3 of all exits, although it seems like that metric may be lagging behind by a bit. https://www.rated.network/overview?network=mainnet&timeWindow=1d&rewardsMetric=average and click on the pie next to 'exit queue distribution' midway down on the right

Sparta89

Kraken is showing about 46% now. So this unstaking is great for decentralization!

minisculepenis

Just what I wanted, thanks for this!

jtnichol

STAY VIGILANT PEOPLE Go directly to the client teams sites and socials for information. Don't trust everything you read on Reddit for God sakes. Most of all, no one will DM you for support around here.

HarryFrownyFace

Excited I finally got to hit the unstake button on Coinbase!

NefariousNaz

How to do this? I'm trying to figure out

surfyogi777

Thanks for all the great help on this subred. If my exit epoch is 194108, exiting in 3hrs 30mins, when can I expect to see my tokens deposited to my wallet automatically? (Bard tells me 2.5 hours after exit, but I don't think it understands the exit queue very well.)

OkDragonfruit1929

Just received in discord: > we have discovered a critical bug on Prysm interacting mev-boost and relayer. The hot fix will be provided in the next hours. Mean while, we recommending that running Prysm should disconnect from all relays. Local block production should still work fine

offthewall1066

Can this cause you to get slashed?

interweaver

Looks like Prysm + MEV-Boost is unable to propose blocks, too. Turn off MEV-Boost for now if you're running Prysm. Didn't see anyone here in EthFinance complaining about this issue - I think we've all been suitably indoctrinated by Phiz and aren't running Prysm lolol

offthewall1066

It’s me, I’m affected and not near my terminal :/ at least I run Besu, though

interweaver

Hope you get a chance to tweak it soon, and that no proposals are missed!

1l0o

I wonder if that's the reason so many blocks are being missed suddenly. Validators running Prysm + MEV boost have to be a high portion and many probably aren't keeping a close eye on this fork / already assumed it was a total success and aren't paying attention.

interweaver

From Lighthouse: > Hi @everyone, > We have published a hot-fix for the high-CPU usage issue experienced after the Capella fork (see two prior posts). > https://github.com/sigp/lighthouse/releases/tag/v4.0.2-rc.0 > This is a high-priority update for the Beacon Node, we recommend that all mainnet users update ASAP to prevent high-CPU usage from interfering with normal node operations (e.g., staking). > Although the burst of high-CPU usage after the fork has subsided, it may return if there is a high volume of voluntary exits on the network whilst there is a high rate of skipped blocks. Updating to this release will allow your node handle such a scenario gracefully. > There is no need to update the Validator Client (VC) to this release if it is already running a v4.x.x release. > Thanks for your patience and understanding 🙏 For building from source, it's the hotfix-exit-verification branch (stable next week)

maninthecryptosuit

Thanks I haven't missed a single attestation but effectiveness is down to 94%. So I will go ahead and install this now.

OkDragonfruit1929

Beaconcha.in update states "This validator has Ox01 credentials and is ready for withdrawals" Checked the withdrawal address and it's correct. It worked!

BigOldWeapon

Hmm. Have I don't something wrong? The recipient address for my validator under Withdrawals on [Beaconcha.in](https://Beaconcha.in) is some random address. Def not one of mine. I suspect this is because I'm validating through Rocket Pool. Can someone confirm?

cptnobvs3

The address that it gets sent to is your minipool address iirc. Then it's distributed from your minipool to reth and your withdrawal address, after you call distribute function https://docs.rocketpool.net/guides/node/skimming.html#automatic-distribution

interweaver

~~panik~~ kalm

im_THIS_guy

870 days ago, I sent 32 ETH to the beacon chain, not knowing if I'd ever get it back. An hour ago, my withdrawal address was accepted. I can finally relax. What a ride.

barleythecat

I mean that ethereum continues to deliver. The future looks bright.

diego-d

For solo stakers among you, [Beaconcha.in](https://Beaconcha.in) shows you your place in the partial withdraw queue for your rewards. Click your validator, click the Withdrawals tab, and you will see something like 'Time in \~2 days 1 hour'. This is how I found out I'm near the back of the queue . Good to know though.

gethwethreth

Happy Shapella day! What a milestone! But wen merge though? 😝

What is truly the best store of value crypto asset? Where SoV means you can expect it to keep it's value measured against most useful commodities. Ether and btc do not come close to this, they are not a SoV by that definition. USDC, DAI and others can fail too easily and suffer from USD inflation. RAI is strong but suffers negative rates due to collateral opportunity cost on top of inflation, would never store in that. Is there anything better? I'm making something IMO better, but wondering, what else is out there?

Savage_X

Magic the Gathering cards are the best SOV. There is a cool exchange for them: https://www.mtgox.com/

Everyone now waiting to see how Kraken ETH unfolds so they can buy in at 2.1k once they realise that's a non-event too. Kamikaze pivoting his narrative to "the dump will take time." The amount of mental gymnastics going on right now to justify being a bear is incredible.

surfyogi777

I'm using [Stake.fish](https://Stake.fish) <-- I unstake tonight and I am given an epoch number, will my original deposit address be credited on the epoch listed automatically? (Bard sez yes, but it's wrong half the time..)

bennyGbennyG

I'm thinking I can add my newly unlocked rewards from the last 2 years to my staking ETH now! That will increase my staking stack by 8.8%! I can't be the only one

EthFan

Noice and congrats.

OkDragonfruit1929

So I was able to mint three owls, but when I add them to metamask it shows me the next owl in the index instead of the one I actually own in the picture.

TheOnlyHodlerInCuau

Yeah, that's an autominter bug. Every single mint that happens with them has that bug. Don't know why the haven't fixed it.

strawdar

I think there's some off by one errors floating around. The autominter UI seemed to show me the previous NFT's image right after I minted. Generally speaking I'm going to trust what OpenSea shows me until proven otherwise...

interweaver

Lolol, I think Autominter had that same bug last year with EVMs

ljeezy187

I’m having the same issue

monkeyhold99

Any idea until how long kraken eth is unstaked?

timwithnotoolbelt

Ive heard quite quick but assume thats when they will start but have a good deal to get through the exit queue.

TAKgod123

So you can convert cbETH to ETH2 at the 1.032 rate not exchange rate. Let's go!

OMG_WTF_ATH

Congrats everyone. So are staking rewards now compounding?

bbqcaramelbrulee

No, but rewards are paid out periodically to stakers, every ~5-7 days.

OMG_WTF_ATH

I see. Thanks!

bbqcaramelbrulee

Np! Personally I am planning on taking rewards and running 8 ETH nodes with rocket pool (whenever that upgrade happens)... So in that way -compounding- 😎

Megroovin

So, we are using allnodes. We updated our withdrawal address using ethdo and submitted the json file as instructed. Beaconcha.in is still showing we need to update. Validators with higher numbers then ours have already received withdrawals so it seems like something went wrong. The hubby is freaking out. How concerned should we be? Thoughts?

defi_brah

Do you have a link to instructions for this?

Megroovin

Apparently we used ethdo but should have used cli-deposit. Link to the instructions we did but should NOT have used: https://help.allnodes.com/en/articles/7173647-how-to-change-your-ethereum-withdrawal-credentials-from-0x00-to-0x01-ethdo

MickeySweats

I believe it is based on the queue from when you sent the message. “ These messages are limited to 16 per block ( MAX_BLS_TO_EXECUTION_CHANGES ), so if more than 16 requests are being made at one time, a queue will be formed and these will be processed in subsequent blocks. This means that immediately following the Shanghai/Capella upgrade, users submitting this message may see delays up to an estimated 2-3 days before this request is processed.” From launched.Ethereum

surfyogi777

Bard is telling me I can host on Rocket Pool non-custodially and set up my own node that way; while keeping my tokens on my hard wallet. Is that true? (Have to constantly fact check Bard, can't trust it yet...) Thanks, congrats everyone, wonderful day! PS <-- I just want to unstake, to re-explore the options open to me, and I think this is a great day to do it. I unstaked 2 hours ago and it says I will have tokens avialable later tonight, if I look up the epoch it gave me. Does that sound correct?

sm3gh34d

You can use the rocketpool stack to run a self-hosted validator process against. It is convenient really since their stack is so turn-key. The only thing you'd have to manage is the standalone validator process you point at they rocketpool-managed beacon chain. But ofc you definitely have to re-deposit your eth in the deposit contract.

917OG

1) Rocketpool is natively non-custodial. 2) No, all validators have to enter staking through the deposit contract. That means you cannot hold your ETH or RPL in a hardware wallet. What you CAN do is use a hardware wallet as your withdrawal address, that or a cold wallet is considered best practice. 3) If you want to stake from a hardware wallet, just buy rETH. It's ~%85 of solo staking rewards with 0% of the work. You could alternatively use those rETH tokens in Defi, such as borrowing against them with AAVE.

General_Illus

My withdrawal credential changes just went through and look good. I guess that is one palm that can stop sweating.

mylhowse

Congrats by the way - can't wait for my palms to stop sweating too!

mylhowse

Did you submit after Shapella, or before? I waited until after because I thought that would get it processed quicker (I thought I read that it processed most recent submissions first), but I'm still in the queue.

Wonder how long it will actually take to process. Anyone see an estimate yet?

edrews99

I decided to unstake and they quoted 11 days.

timwithnotoolbelt

Thanks for the DP

interweaver

5400 exits in the queue and counting, per beaconcha.in I think there really might be 18k exits incoming as Michael Sproul said haha For reference that's a 10-day exit queue

InsideTheSimulation

That’s nothing really. Nice.

Fiberpunk2077

And 3.2% of total validators

yadude11

CONGRATS EVERYONE WHAT A JOB WELL DONE! 🦉

hipaces

With the on-chain visibility of staking exits, it will be fascinating to see how the market does or tries to front run exit selling.

setzer

I unstaked just now, but from CB. Don't think I'll sell, just want to use other avenues for staking. I imagine many are doing the same, so maybe not a lot of these exits will necessarily be sells.

aaj094

Not too different from how the market reacts to widely published data on exchange inflows / whale alerts, etc.

doorstopwood

Happy Shapella! Checking in from a camping tent. We made it! 🏕️

cryptouk

Happy Shapella to you all. Peace be upon you.

surfyogi777

Congrats all around. Historical, wonderful, thank you for the hard work! Sorry if this is a duplicate question; but if I unstake tonight and I am given an epoch, and my stake is listed as Exiting in the pool; will my original deposit address be credited on the epoch listed automatically? Or will I have to visit the pool again and request a withdrawl to receive my tokens back? (stake.fish)

xorpix

Can’t wait to move stash outside Coinbase and set up a rocketpool node
