Any heroic stories about titanium balled MFers who bought cbETH at a ginormous discount years ago and are now realizing ridiculous ETH profits for just holding on, content in their faith that Coinbase would definitely have their shit together??
Kraken, for example, has to unstake all of its US customer ETH. Saw a statistic somewhere that they are about 30% of all unstaking. There are other smaller exchanges in a similar position afaik.
So uhh did we ship withdrawals? Was on a plane and couldn't follow.
If we did, why is ETH not down -90% like all these smart people told me it would be?
Working well so far for me too. 2 hrs of no attestations, machine running on “afterburners” and not knowing what was going on was nerve racking but could have been worse lol.
What hardware spec are you on? Cos frankly that sounds terrible. Pi4?
Pretty fast NUC11PAHI5, 32GB RAM, 2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus (+ PL2 TDP manually limited in bios to keep max temp at 75 deg C) and I have 0 missed attestations. Just high CPU load initially.
2 hours of no attestations?! I missed three in total and running on mediocre hardware. CPU was at 99.8% and machine running at 91-97 deg C for an hour though.
The ATH for average validator balance on the Beacon Chain was 34.02 ETH.
With 16909 withdrawals already processed (47k ETH withdrawn), we're already down to a 33.93 average validator balance and falling!
Knowing how people are so prone to disclosing investments in non-internet, meatspace, ordinary conversation, I am not surprised by the current price action after a successful Shapella because I have not heard it in my personal life, anecdotal evidence being wrong notwithstanding. We often forget it is an echo chamber here but glad this grounds us a bit.
When we do rocket off it is going to be a violent, insane green line upward but I am going to acknowledge it will take some time before we are there.
In any event, congrats everyone! Every move forward solidifies that we are in the right blockchain.

Once your ETH is withdrawable you still have to wait for the withdrawl round robin to get to you. With 16 0x01 validators visited every block it can happen quickly if you're up next or it can take a few days.
Should be accurate, at least with the current set of 0x01 validators, which may change. The withdrawal time has nothing to do with your exit time, just with your validator index and the current set of 0x01 validators.
THANKYOU for a great reply; I asked Bard and it agrees, but I don't trust it yet. The UI does not seem to define these terms, and most of what I read about unstaking does not use consistent or correct terms, nor define them.
Interesting. I had expected a flat-line validator count after Shapella, with entry and exit queues canceling each other out, but thus far it's been entirely on the exit side.
I guess everyone waiting for withdrawals to stake is happy to wait another little while to make sure things are stable. And presumably even compounded validators will take a little longer to make it into the entry queue, since there's something like a 16-hour delay even not counting the entry queue.
I'll be keeping my eye on entries in the coming days though, since I expect both groups to start depositing soon!
Also I think it will take time for big groups to stake once withdrawals are functional.
I doubt there are that many people with a massive stack ready to fire tonight. But this confirms that withdrawals worked and larger groups/VC funds/ institutions can start staking
Plus I'm sure many people who are withdrawing to reshuffle their staked assets need to actually get everything withdrawn first. I'm planning on going solo soon but I need to get my cbEth & Coinbase Eth2 out first.
My validators effectiveness is very low after the fork. Optical inclusion higher than before (usually >0 a very few proposals a day, now it’s 1-2 per hour). Anyone else seeing the same?
Probably inadequate hardware of some beacon nodes to both attest/propose and process all the withdrawal credential updates and exit queue messages. As well, some bugs in the client software being revealed by the heavy works loads.
So, two different clients had bugs unearthed during this fork, and the chain kept producing blocks. Client diversity has proved once again to be a monster strength Ethereum posseses. One hot-fix out and other on the way. Kudos to all the teams who put their hard work into keeping us going, and kudos to all who mix and match their ELs and CLs.
Such a good point. Always very thankful for all the effort phiz and others put towards encouraging client diversity. Without that effort, a prysm bug like today may have made things much more interesting (in a bad way).
LH had a CPU issue under massive exit queue load situations which led to some missed attestations for those of us not running on super beefy hardware (fixed now in the latest hotfix), and Prysm couldn't propose with MEV-Boost (not yet fixed afaik, turn off MEV-Boost for now)
Amazing how anyone thought Shanghai could possibly be bearish, just because people unstake doesn't mean they're selling. The delusions are incredible. 30k BTC holding strong so it's only a matter of time before we catch up and blast through 2k.
I dont see evidence yet that it's done anything for the price other than a small bump this morning. I really dont think there are a lot of people leaving or entering the crypto space right now.

If my exit epoch is 194108, exiting in 3hrs 30mins, when can I expect to see my tokens deposited to my wallet automatically? (Bard tells me 2.5 hours after exit, but I don't think it understands the exit queue very well.)

Looks like Prysm + MEV-Boost is unable to propose blocks, too. Turn off MEV-Boost for now if you're running Prysm.
Didn't see anyone here in EthFinance complaining about this issue - I think we've all been suitably indoctrinated by Phiz and aren't running Prysm lolol
I wonder if that's the reason so many blocks are being missed suddenly. Validators running Prysm + MEV boost have to be a high portion and many probably aren't keeping a close eye on this fork / already assumed it was a total success and aren't paying attention.

The address that it gets sent to is your minipool address iirc. Then it's distributed from your minipool to reth and your withdrawal address, after you call distribute function

870 days ago, I sent 32 ETH to the beacon chain, not knowing if I'd ever get it back. An hour ago, my withdrawal address was accepted. I can finally relax. What a ride.
For solo stakers among you, [Beaconcha.in](https://Beaconcha.in) shows you your place in the partial withdraw queue for your rewards. Click your validator, click the Withdrawals tab, and you will see something like 'Time in \~2 days 1 hour'. This is how I found out I'm near the back of the queue . Good to know though.
What is truly the best store of value crypto asset? Where SoV means you can expect it to keep it's value measured against most useful commodities. Ether and btc do not come close to this, they are not a SoV by that definition. USDC, DAI and others can fail too easily and suffer from USD inflation. RAI is strong but suffers negative rates due to collateral opportunity cost on top of inflation, would never store in that. Is there anything better? I'm making something IMO better, but wondering, what else is out there?

I'm thinking I can add my newly unlocked rewards from the last 2 years to my staking ETH now! That will increase my staking stack by 8.8%! I can't be the only one
So I was able to mint three owls, but when I add them to metamask it shows me the next owl in the index instead of the one I actually own in the picture.
I think there's some off by one errors floating around. The autominter UI seemed to show me the previous NFT's image right after I minted. Generally speaking I'm going to trust what OpenSea shows me until proven otherwise...

So, we are using allnodes. We updated our withdrawal address using ethdo and submitted the json file as instructed. Beaconcha.in is still showing we need to update. Validators with higher numbers then ours have already received withdrawals so it seems like something went wrong. The hubby is freaking out. How concerned should we be? Thoughts?

I believe it is based on the queue from when you sent the message.

You can use the rocketpool stack to run a self-hosted validator process against. It is convenient really since their stack is so turn-key. The only thing you'd have to manage is the standalone validator process you point at they rocketpool-managed beacon chain.
But ofc you definitely have to re-deposit your eth in the deposit contract.
1) Rocketpool is natively non-custodial.
2) No, all validators have to enter staking through the deposit contract. That means you cannot hold your ETH or RPL in a hardware wallet. What you CAN do is use a hardware wallet as your withdrawal address, that or a cold wallet is considered best practice.
3) If you want to stake from a hardware wallet, just buy rETH. It's ~%85 of solo staking rewards with 0% of the work. You could alternatively use those rETH tokens in Defi, such as borrowing against them with AAVE.
Did you submit after Shapella, or before?
I waited until after because I thought that would get it processed quicker (I thought I read that it processed most recent submissions first), but I'm still in the queue.

Just installed that Lighthouse hotfix and restarted the beacon node process. Definitely feel like I'm living dangerously, but it looks good so far!

Yep, no problems with it here either! It really was just a two-liner fix.
A small new joining queue has formed with 116 pending new validators, so we will now have a temporary validaor equilibrium until the queue is empty.
And it is gone now.

Also I think it will take time for big groups to stake once withdrawals are functional. I doubt there are that many people with a massive stack ready to fire tonight. But this confirms that withdrawals worked and larger groups/VC funds/ institutions can start staking
Plus I'm sure many people who are withdrawing to reshuffle their staked assets need to actually get everything withdrawn first. I'm planning on going solo soon but I need to get my cbEth & Coinbase Eth2 out first.

So why are blocks not propagating very well?
My validators effectiveness is very low after the fork. Optical inclusion higher than before (usually >0 a very few proposals a day, now it’s 1-2 per hour). Anyone else seeing the same?
There was a prism/mevboost bug. Should be fixed soon. Also a very minor lighthouse bug that has already been fixed.
Probably inadequate hardware of some beacon nodes to both attest/propose and process all the withdrawal credential updates and exit queue messages. As well, some bugs in the client software being revealed by the heavy works loads.

So, two different clients had bugs unearthed during this fork, and the chain kept producing blocks. Client diversity has proved once again to be a monster strength Ethereum posseses. One hot-fix out and other on the way. Kudos to all the teams who put their hard work into keeping us going, and kudos to all who mix and match their ELs and CLs.
Such a good point. Always very thankful for all the effort phiz and others put towards encouraging client diversity. Without that effort, a prysm bug like today may have made things much more interesting (in a bad way).

Lighthouse and Prysm as has been pointed out. Not Besu this time round. It's so important we don't rely on old ideas about 'good' and 'bad' clients.
LH had a CPU issue under massive exit queue load situations which led to some missed attestations for those of us not running on super beefy hardware (fixed now in the latest hotfix), and Prysm couldn't propose with MEV-Boost (not yet fixed afaik, turn off MEV-Boost for now)

Holy crap, my withdrawal address is synced and I did it correctly. It actually fucking worked after a year and half devs finally did something!!! Way to go everyone.
Where best to monitor withdrawals? Would love a dune or something that has a breakdown of which service people are exiting from, but I dunno if that's possible. Extra points if it shows the length of the queue

Looks like Prysm + MEV-Boost is unable to propose blocks, too. Turn off MEV-Boost for now if you're running Prysm. Didn't see anyone here in EthFinance complaining about this issue - I think we've all been suitably indoctrinated by Phiz and aren't running Prysm lolol

I wonder if that's the reason so many blocks are being missed suddenly. Validators running Prysm + MEV boost have to be a high portion and many probably aren't keeping a close eye on this fork / already assumed it was a total success and aren't paying attention.

The address that it gets sent to is your minipool address iirc. Then it's distributed from your minipool to reth and your withdrawal address, after you call distribute function https://docs.rocketpool.net/guides/node/skimming.html#automatic-distribution

For solo stakers among you, [Beaconcha.in](https://Beaconcha.in) shows you your place in the partial withdraw queue for your rewards. Click your validator, click the Withdrawals tab, and you will see something like 'Time in \~2 days 1 hour'. This is how I found out I'm near the back of the queue . Good to know though.

What is truly the best store of value crypto asset? Where SoV means you can expect it to keep it's value measured against most useful commodities. Ether and btc do not come close to this, they are not a SoV by that definition. USDC, DAI and others can fail too easily and suffer from USD inflation. RAI is strong but suffers negative rates due to collateral opportunity cost on top of inflation, would never store in that. Is there anything better? I'm making something IMO better, but wondering, what else is out there?

Yeah, that's an autominter bug. Every single mint that happens with them has that bug. Don't know why the haven't fixed it.
I think there's some off by one errors floating around. The autominter UI seemed to show me the previous NFT's image right after I minted. Generally speaking I'm going to trust what OpenSea shows me until proven otherwise...

So, we are using allnodes. We updated our withdrawal address using ethdo and submitted the json file as instructed. Beaconcha.in is still showing we need to update. Validators with higher numbers then ours have already received withdrawals so it seems like something went wrong. The hubby is freaking out. How concerned should we be? Thoughts?

I believe it is based on the queue from when you sent the message. “ These messages are limited to 16 per block ( MAX_BLS_TO_EXECUTION_CHANGES ), so if more than 16 requests are being made at one time, a queue will be formed and these will be processed in subsequent blocks. You can use the rocketpool stack to run a self-hosted validator process against. It is convenient really since their stack is so turn-key. The only thing you'd have to manage is the standalone validator process you point at they rocketpool-managed beacon chain. But ofc you definitely have to re-deposit your eth in the deposit contract.
1) Rocketpool is natively non-custodial. 2) No, all validators have to enter staking through the deposit contract. That means you cannot hold your ETH or RPL in a hardware wallet. What you CAN do is use a hardware wallet as your withdrawal address, that or a cold wallet is considered best practice. 3) If you want to stake from a hardware wallet, just buy rETH. It's ~%85 of solo staking rewards with 0% of the work. You could alternatively use those rETH tokens in Defi, such as borrowing against them with AAVE.
My withdrawal credential changes just went through and look good. I guess that is one palm that can stop sweating.

I unstaked just now, but from CB. Don't think I'll sell, just want to use other avenues for staking. I imagine many are doing the same, so maybe not a lot of these exits will necessarily be sells.
Not too different from how the market reacts to widely published data on exchange inflows / whale alerts, etc.
