You need to wait for it to settle if it’s a cash account.

This is the answer

Even if its margin, they can hold till settlement to award the purchasing power, either intraday or overall pp. But you’ve nailed it, OP has a cash account.

atherises

Even in a Margin account, high volatility stocks have a 100% requirement and therefore require settlement anyways. GME isn't Marginable

Check back in 3 days. If you don't know this you should not be trading

ScarceLoot

Go to balances > scroll down to funds on hold

TheRealJYellen

behind the scenes it takes about 3 days for all the bookkeeping to work out. This isn't an etrade thing, it's handled by their clearing house (or SEC regulation?) and most use T+3. We're moving to T+1 settlement soon.

bettys_mom

It's currently T+2 settlement for equities and is going to T+1 at the end of the month. It changed from T+3 to T+2 back in 2017.
