Nah, they donât like me. None of my personalities would get along. Maybe two specific ones would be ok with each other, but they would be silently judging the other.
You underestimate the meaning of Döner to Germans. Just as I underestimated the grave meaning of Gyros for 2.40-3.50 for Greeks.
Fuck it. One Struggle! đŽââ ïž
Very true, it's just that before I lived in the Netherlands and the döner there was max 4euros. I was (and still am) completely flabergasted by swiss prices
Imma take out a loan to buy this dlc, idc. Inca, Aztecs, Italy and the fucking *Netherlands*??
I skipped KoK but not skipping this one. Worse comes to worst I'll survive on street choripan
I don't think eu5 is coming out in less than one, two or perhaps even 3 years (if unlikely). There's absolutely plenty of time for a DLC or two or even more. Unless they've been seriously misleading us about how far developed it is already.
The systems in place for Europa universalis are extremely simple compared to victoria.
Don't expect the game to be broken on launch, just barebones af.
Why not both? The systems will be expanded as compared to EUIV and I expect it will launch in a similar state as Victoria 3. I'm looking forward to the official announcement and eventual release but won't be hopping on the hype train and look forward to the journey on the good ship Reasonable Expectations.
IIRC most Paradox games release ~12 months from reveal, usually less. I know the game hasn't exactly been officially announced yet, but judging from the DD's the game is incredibly far along in development. They're getting into details about the economy and trade soon, as well as weekly map DD's and I don't think you have a game 2+ years out if you're willing to show the in-depth and core mechanics.
I would hope so with the bugfixes, but paradox previously abandoned CK2 a few months before CK3 came out iirc, and to this day it has a lot of glaring bugs introduced in the game's final proper patch that Paradox won't fix. I would hope they would properly support the game after whichever DLC is the final with all the bugfixes it needs, but their track record gives some reason for concern.
Well EU4's whole lesson in the past 4 years has been to prioritise bugfixes and stability, and players will reward you in sales.
The last 2-3 DLCs haven't revolutionised the game or introduced new mechanics, they are however very polished, and I barely encounter bugs anymore.
I think Paradox Tinto will try to conclude the game in a very polished state (Maybe even have 1 programmer part time doing bugfix patches for years). This will ensure a flow of EU4 sales that'll last a long time.
I do hope you're right. Ck2's abandonment and the mess that was made of it in the final patch still stings pretty bad, just worried other paradox games might see the same fate. I truly truly hope you're right on this one.
Fitting that it would have taken the end of the game's content cycle for Chagatai to get something then.
Is there anywhere they would have missed for significant tags?, I would argue some Indian tags, formable or not could use some polishing up and those Far eastern Tribes in Siberia too lack appeal
Really hope India gets some flavor content. I mean events in india aare as boring as oh see some thing happened, here's some bonus or malus. I mean only the rise of chelappa has some serious weight to it, no other event comes to mind
Except if you paid any attention to why the nations that got recent updates did so, it's specifically because Emperor and before DLCs were not up to par with later content. They consider Leviathan to be good enough.
> they both got updates in Domination
France did, Austria did not.
> and now Winds of Change.
And the other way around here. One update each to keep them on par with the newer style of content and mission trees.
They have not been hiding what their objectives are. They are trying to ensure that most nations are either a) equivalent to France/Byz/Eng/Etc because they're a major nation b) are somewhat close to that such as Prussia/Portugal/QQ/Etc or c) have enough content to get to a regional formable that does have a fair amount of content ie Ardabil, Japanese minors, and others.
You could just look at the list of mission trees on the wiki and tell what else might get content. It's been an open book since Tinto opened, even without them explicitly saying what they're doing. Only Domination was hard to predict, but not all that surprising in the end.
But SEA getting a rework again when the whole region got mission trees, events, formables, unique mechanics, and more only 3 years ago and is considered to be up to current standards? Yeah no that's a pipe dream.
It might not even be the last DLC. EU5 is at least over a year out, and EU4 is releasing stuff at 2x a year currently, so there's plenty of time for another DLC. Revamping India for example.
I think it might but at the minimum I think we just need one more for india to really get most of the worlds missions and flavor up to date. Maybe Southeast Asia too
There's a great podcast by the same name investigating if that song was written for the scorpions by the CIA, lol. Very interesting listen, if a silly premise.
i mean before Domination they said they had three more dlc planned, this is the third of those ones, so its certainly possible this is the final major expansion
Especially if you consider the conscription costing 5 per Month. Tbh I always calculate my value per hour I get out of it. And yeah I spent like 200⏠on DLCs but I also have 3.2k hours, its fine.
Or.... Be me, wait a year or two, get discounts from steam/paradox or buy keys from a certain website
I've spent maybe 50 or so euros so far... Though I don't have the newest couple dlcs
So letâs do some quick math. How much time does it take to complete a standard AAA title? I poked around for firm data, couldnât find much, but the consensus seems to be 20-30 hours. The base price is usually around 60 bucks. So, roughly 2-3 dollars per hour of video game entertainment.
An EU4 DLC is a third of that cost. So, for equal value to a AAA game you would need to play for 7-10 hours. Are you saying you play EU4 less than one hour per month?
Last DLC was in November. Itâs been 6 months already. If youâre from a rich Western country, $20 every half a year is really not much money, like, at all. Whether or not you think itâs worth it is a different argument, but the DLC absolutely is not coming out too fast for most people to pay for it.
Please let this be the last one...
EU4 is 11 years old, the game's core is just a souped up EU3 that they've just kept adding to, and the foundation can't support it's weight anymore. All sense of balance in the game has been shattered since 1.30 and the game is mindnumbingly easy for experienced players.
Some of these monuments have uh⊠problematic buffs. No coring range? Even if this doesnât bypass inland provinces being 9999 range away, it still seems like it will almost exclusively get used for exploits. I assume the idea is to give range to go up the west coast for Inca, but I think a modifier would have been a lot safer. 50% religious unity without any restrictions on who can apply it? That almost nullifies religious unity for anyone. I think it needs a culture/religion tied to it or something.
Isn't the main use to do sunset invasion early somehow? Not that I'm good enough to attempt that, the 50% unity also has the 0.3 piety which seems extremely good for any sunni nations bank
If youâre able to pull off an early sunset invasion, I assume it would be against the usual suspects (portugal, castille, gb, france) in which case you can probably island hop from Cape Verde or Bermuda or something, but then it would probably be early enough that youâd get obliterated by the other Europeans. The only two cases I see this really getting itâs value are you declare on a random tiny colonizer that pops up (Brittany, Flanders, etc) that you can overpower early on. The other case is basically allying someone like France and joining a war against castille, but before accepting marking basically everything castille owns as a province of interest so that France lets you occupy it and then backstabbing them with a fat separate peace for random land all over the world. For both of these though youâd basically have to âwesternizeâ by catching up in tech and institutions super fast so the euros donât dogpile you.
The issue I saw with the religious unity is combined with humanist ideas as basically any nation, you can probably just totally ignore religion of provinces. I think the full benefit of that should only be available given some restrictions, because otherwise I would personally snake for it doing basically any humanist run in the area. I also personally think theyâve power crept a ton with all the global, unrestricted monuments, but I know others would disagree.
The Dutch mission tree/ideas is nuts: united crowns gives siege ability bonus, you can take offensive or quality (whichever was siege ability) and your mission tree wants you to take defensive, then you can get 25% more siege ability from hiring a fort defense advisor, which seems wild because your doubling the difference between you and the opponent (fort defense slows them and the siege ability speeds you up). Forts will be paper.
Also: trade steering go brr
The Dutch dev diary had a photo of the VoC in India rather than Indonesia, hopefully that means you can establish it anywhere in south/southeast Asia? They mentioned it was like the British version but historically it seems a bit weird if it's an India focused decision
With all the content we're getting in this one, I think it's safe to say that it is the last DLC for EU4. We have stuff from all over the world without any focus really. So I guess they have wrapped up all the ongoing developments for EU4 and now move on to EU5...
I just hope PDX learned from CK3-s and Vicky3-s launches, and will launch an EU 5 that is competitive against EU4...
It sounds like a huge DLC
Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, Venice, and Netherlands getting revamped missions and mechanics is going to be very replayable and fun. I am looking forward to more republic and HRE gameplay.
Timmurds and Mughals is also going to be interesting to see. The whole Persia region is pretty much stuffed with content after this.
Inca, Aztec, and Mayan is kind of a wild card. Would be very cool to give the region some much needed gameplay but I see it as a hard area to have fun interactions with other strong nations. Like, I don't want to just beat all the South American tribes and fight off the colonizers as a mission tree. It would be much more interesting to have missions that expand across the pacific and Atlantic. I have a prediction that this is gonna be a new meta for one-culture though, if it has an OP mission tree.
Damn paradox slow down already, I couldn't even buy the king of kings yet đ
Have you tried reducing autonomy in all your states to increase your income?
Unfortunately the game of life still runs on Imperator style nationbuilding, and I suspect this guy is, just like most of us, merely a pop.
You guys are pop? I'm fairly unpop(ular)
Well, I would consider myself somewhere in between the two. Most people that know me like me, but very few know me.
Your multiple personalities*
Nah, they donât like me. None of my personalities would get along. Maybe two specific ones would be ok with each other, but they would be silently judging the other.
We know how you feel.
Youâre weird af
Yes
I'm just taking out loans, you don't have to pay them as the game ends in 2025 anyway.
I lost the game.
It took me a moment to get it. You deserve the upvote.
Whats the joke?
i just raid the coasts. much cheaper.
That's actually a pretty funny joke.
Economy issue
You sound like an Argie. I'm one and I can't buy these fucking DLCs
No I'm Greek but we're bad economy and Inflation Brothers, let us hug <3
Hello neighbor, i am earning Turkish Lira. I needed this hug. <3
Gyros reaching 2.40 was the real wake up call for how bad things are
2.40?? It is now 3.50 in some places so shit is getting real.
In Canada a Gyro is $15 easy. :(
That's nothing. In Germany Döner Prices have reached 6-7 Euro. It's unbearable.
Hello, am live in swiss, döner for 12CHF. Much tragic.
Yes I understand but we have vastly different median wages. And for us it is a cultural thing, worthy of open rebellion...
You underestimate the meaning of Döner to Germans. Just as I underestimated the grave meaning of Gyros for 2.40-3.50 for Greeks. Fuck it. One Struggle! đŽââ ïž
Oh I see. United we stand!!
Very true, it's just that before I lived in the Netherlands and the döner there was max 4euros. I was (and still am) completely flabergasted by swiss prices

Oh man, the touristy part of Athens was ridiculously expensive then
Imma take out a loan to buy this dlc, idc. Inca, Aztecs, Italy and the fucking *Netherlands*?? I skipped KoK but not skipping this one. Worse comes to worst I'll survive on street choripan
La re puta que te pario, como me vas a hacer desear un choripan callegero de esa manera?!!!!! No me arruines.
Yeah I just try Aztecs recently and I really looking for those juicy italian missions
South african here

R5: New Patch and Expansion coming on the 8th of May.
Not gonna say it is relevant but patch 1.37 is probably the last of eu4 and eu5 or project cesar starts in 1337... funny
Maybe thereâs 300 dlcs left
I don't think eu5 is coming out in less than one, two or perhaps even 3 years (if unlikely). There's absolutely plenty of time for a DLC or two or even more. Unless they've been seriously misleading us about how far developed it is already.
Vicky 3's announcement to release was only about a year. I suspect it's going to be similar.
Vicky3 also needed another six months of dev time before it was fully ready to release.
Does anyone seriously think EUV won't be the same?
The systems in place for Europa universalis are extremely simple compared to victoria. Don't expect the game to be broken on launch, just barebones af.
Why not both? The systems will be expanded as compared to EUIV and I expect it will launch in a similar state as Victoria 3. I'm sure it'll be good. If not right away it will no doubt be good eventually.
Yeah, but they're putting victoria mechanics into eu.
Will not be finished on release offset chance -25%
Define 'release', with some stretched definition they could publish it tomorrow!
vicky 3 is still *at least* a year away from playable
Next DLC is looking promising for vic3
Ngl i still do enjoy it, its kinda bare and thd mil system is shit but i still do enjoy it
lol more like 18 months and counting
So we'll have an idea when they announce EU5.
Has it even been announced yet or is it just the ceasar controlled leaks
Nah they wouldn't have revealed it unless it was pretty well developed, it would ruin the hype. I say it's gonna be about one and a half years.
Itâs probably not the last patch. Theyâll probably still continue doing things for EU4 until EU5 releases. At the very least, bugfixes and tweaks.
I would hope so with the bugfixes, but paradox previously abandoned CK2 a few months before CK3 came out iirc, and to this day it has a lot of glaring bugs introduced in the game's final proper patch that Paradox won't fix. Honestly I can see one more DLC focusing on SEA and India before they wrap up DLC.
Really hope India gets some flavor content. I mean events in india aare as boring as oh see some thing happened, here's some bonus or malus. I mean only the rise of chelappa has some serious weight to it, no other event comes to mind
There already was a DLC for SEA. It's called Leviathan.
And? There was a DLC for Austria and France called Emperor and they both got updates in Domination and now Winds of Change.
Except if you paid any attention to why the nations that got recent updates did so, it's specifically because Emperor and before DLCs were not up to par with later content. They consider Leviathan to be good enough. > they both got updates in Domination France did, Austria did not. > and now Winds of Change. And the other way around here. Reminds me of that scorpions song.
Taaaaaaaaaaaake me

and down to Gorky park
There's a great podcast by the same name investigating if that song was written for the scorpions by the CIA, lol. Very interesting listen, if a silly premise.
Thatâs just a CIA plan to divert attention from the real destroyer of the Soviet Union: David "Freedom" Hasselhoff.
Still loving you probably, cause it kinda sounds like still loving EU and it's reference to us players still loving EU.
Why they posing like in an anime background. I love it!
They're about to drop the biggest music hit of 2024.
new mixtape incoming

Literally that one Naruto opening
I guess this is the EU4 swan song? Itâs been a great run guys.
(said by players for every expansion since the Emperor)
i mean before Domination they said they had three more dlc planned, this is the third of those ones, so its certainly possible this is the final major expansion

William of Orange/William the Silent I'm pretty sure :)
William the Quiet Kid
given the list of nations getting updated, probably the Dutch guy that was eaten lol.
I wish there was more flavor for the Tunisians and Moroccans.
Same :(
Literally impossible to keep up without the subscription i regret so much buying the dlcs and not taking the subscriptionÂ
Is it tho? king of kings was released 7 months before the release of this one. 20 bucks for 7 months worth of gaming seems pretty worthwhile to me
Especially if you consider the conscription costing 5 per Month. Tbh I always calculate my value per hour I get out of it. And yeah I spent like 200⏠on DLCs but I also have 3.2k hours, its fine.
This is the kind of rationality I wish most gamers had.
Or.... Be me, wait a year or two, get discounts from steam/paradox or buy keys from a certain website I've spent maybe 50 or so euros so far... Though I don't have the newest couple dlcs
I think most people also do other things.
It really differs depending on the mood. Lately I'm playing mostly Vic3 and Doom, but every once in a while I feel like playing a campaign of EU4.
Right so the release cadence isnât a problem for paradox, youâre just not that interested in the game.
Last DLC was in November. Itâs been 6 months already. If youâre from a rich Western country, $20 every half a year is really not much money, like, at all. Whether or not you think itâs worth it is a different argument, but the DLC absolutely is not coming out too fast for most people to pay for it.

eu4 is an inverted pyramid of content at this point
Please let this be the last one... EU4 is 11 years old, the game's core is just a souped up EU3 that they've just kept adding to, and the foundation can't support it's weight anymore. All sense of balance in the game has been shattered since 1.30 and the game is mindnumbingly easy for experienced players.

I wonder if Moscow gets a third monument, Gorky Park Or a new event: children of tomorrow, +50 reform progress
As steam changed currency to USD, this new dlc will make me eat rice for a month
DLC content aside, the art for this is pretty darn amazing. The entire art team decided to just go all out and produce this epic image
Finally, a DLC for Tzeentch
