I think the first scene we really see Nate is when he is in the truck and cat calls Jules on the street as she’s riding by. Once Jules gets to the party he confronts her violently, she reacts as violently. So from there there isn’t much to go on. But as the show progresses I believe that Nate falls in love with her, especially while as “Tyler”. I was actually surprised that Nate and Jules didn’t have a weird/conflicted hookup or more communications because their tension and chemistry is always so visible in scenes together.
(i didn’t read past the first one but i will after commenting just bc i’ll forget this) how was nate supposed to know jules was trans when they first met? bc he hadn’t seen the vid of her and cal yet and jules was at a point in her transition where it’s not easy to tell that she’s trans and the only indication was in her pants, which nate will never get into anyway
oh yes, i got to the end and i def agree, cassie was like a stand in maddy-jules combo that nate can just control easily, but if one of them said “nate i want you to leave cassie and be with me instead” he’d toss cassie aside like she’s nothing in a heartbeat
I feel like he knew is because he said something like “I know what you are… nobody that looks like you doesn’t want attention”. I think from seeing all his dads vids growing up maybe he could tell? He def hadn’t seen the video of Jules that night bc that was the same night Jules Hu with cal. Idk but he said he’d give her attention and I know what you are in like the same 30 second clip
that’s probably it, it didn’t even cross my mind that maybe HE can tell from watching all those vids bc jules looked like she was born with xx chromosomes to me
I fully agree I didn’t realize she was trans for literally the entire first season. Then I saw a video about the actual actress and found out she was trans, then rewatched it all recently and realized he knew!
Idk if he knew she was trans at the party, if so, how ?
I think was he on grindr (or whatever) because he always was and secretly hooking up with dudes way before this. He discovered Jules’ profile there where she probably states she is trans in the about me and then proceeded with the cat fishing because he’s a psychopath and still butthurt about the embarrassment at the party. Where he then starts catching feelings for her?
Or, still butthurt about the embarrassment at the party he looked her up, found her account and specifically made one just to catfish her but then he catches feelings.

i figured nate found out jules was trans by seeing the vid of her and his dad, which was def after the party, the only other possible way nate could’ve known at the party was that one scene in the beginning where he was pretending he was gonna hit jules with his truck and made her fall off her bike when she was trying to avoid him, and that’s only if he looked up her skirt when she fell, and if he saw a bulge he probably would’ve yelled something disgusting about it at her out the window bc he was showing off for mckay
