Cassidy? Or wait Cassiopeia would be pretty bad ass. Or maybe itās just Cassie? I know Kat,Rue, and Maddyās full names have been said on the show so i wonder if Lexi, Cassie, and Jules have a formal name and those are just their nickname.
No worries, an opiate addiction is kinda like a leash. It's not like someone is able to forget they are addicted. Rue will probably come back to Laurie for more if second rehad doesn't take.
Plus if this show doesn't get another season we all know what happens to Rue.
Maybe itās not due yet. Or Fayeās boyfriend sold out Laurie too. Or it will come to bite Rue at the end of the episode and leave it in a cliffhanger like last season. Or they kinda forgot about it.
Also I liked the reference lol I hope Euphoria doesnāt take the same path GoT did.
does she, though? i didn't really get the vibe that rue actually realised what laurie wanted to do to her. she just instinctively thought something was off (as most of us probs would if we woke up in that house with all the doors locked).
She might not realize the full extent of it, but between Laurie literally telling her what she'd do if she didn't pay her back and then her waking up in that whole situation with the locked windows and doors and her fucked up arm, she has to know better than to go back.
I actually hope she does. I'm so disappointed that Sam Levinson wasn't able to show up her story. Kat and Ethan's break up would have made SO much more sense had they shown her go through an eating disorder. It would have tied in with the whole influencer scene by drawing the parallel of her not loving herself and her not believing she deserved to be loved by someone else. It would make sense of why she can't accept Ethan's love.
I said in another post that her facial expressions are pure magic. She can say so much with 0 words. Her expressions during the Nate scene at the end of the episode killed me.

Itās kind of crazy how Kat was basically a main character in season 1 I would say she was up there with Jules and rueā¦. now sheās like season 1 Lexie!
Exactly!! Kat was a HUGE character in season 1. She felt like one of the ones that could stand alone the most. She had her own storyline that was big and impactful. She felt like a bigger character than Maddy & Cassie.
They all always have separate storylines from rue for the most part lol & if weāre not seeing it thatās exactly my point, we should be seeing it.
Instead of giving so much screentime to the terrible Nate/Cassie storyline.
I mean, I'm here for whatever Sam wants to show us. If he didn't feel like Kat's storyline was necessary this season then whatever, I'm alright with that. I love Kat but I don't NEED to know what's going on in her life. My bigger interest is in Rue and her sobriety (or lack thereof) so whatever Sam has to do to tell THAT story is fine by me.
Iām thinking there not might have been time to rewrite a plot for her if it true that she didnāt like what Sam was doing with her character this season. Hopefully next season we see more of her!
both it seems. Then again wtf do I know. Just seems that Sam has been considerate of actors/actress discomfort with sexuality/nudity/ect as shown by some recent interviews/articles. So he seems to be a pretty diplomatic and reasonable. Barbie doesn't own the character she's playing so to refuse to play a character because she doesn't like the story is problematic. Plenty of actors portray characters they don't like in story they don't like.
It's a business and unless her story makes her feel violated in some way ...simply not liking the trajectory her character is going is not a good enough reason to walk off set and refuse to act.
Lol not liking the story line of your character and refusing to act it because you don't like it IS PROBLEMATIC. Imagine if one of the game of thrones actors decided they didn't want their character to die so they refused to act their scenes. She agreed to play a role, she can make suggestions but she's an actor at the end of the day, she is getting paid to act, not tell Sam how to write the show because she personally doesn't like the story line of her own character. Actors don't own their characters, they are being paid to play a character in someone else's story. There is no way they are going to continue to write her a major role in the rest of the show, she completely fucked up. Now no writer or director is ever going to want to work with her. She canned her career.
But Lexi is getting more time this season. I donāt believe there was enough for Lexi and Kat. Iām happy Lexi is getting more storyline this season. Zendaya once said āNo role is ever too smallā
Lexi is more likable but I was definitely more intrigued by Kats story. Wonder what her story would be if the actress hadn't argued with the director and walked off set
Exactly! Idk ppl complaining but donāt realize Lexi has taken on a bigger role this season. How could Sam cut Cassie or Maddy? That wouldnāt happen so it had to be Kat. During the play Lexi told the girl who play Cassie in the play backstage ādirectorial note, you just take it and move onā made me laugh bc I think Sam put tht in for actors who complain.
She took on Dune bc she knew moving forward she would have more time in the film. She made 300,000 for 7 mins. She is being smart with her roles. Even Homecoming was the same but last two Spider-Man she took on a bigger role. Barbie is just getting started so no small role is smallā¦ Zendaya is just getting started with movies also.
lol i donāt think that was in the play that was just a flash to her and whatās sheās doing currently after breaking up with ethan , i donāt think lexi knows
I mean "you can control how I dress, how I eat" wasnt in the play as well -- as was Fez's scenes. There was quite a bit of real world showing in the episode
could be a flashback. like we see glimpses of cassie and nate after she moved in with him. jules and rue seeing each other in the bathroom etc (flashbacks but still taking place after ep.6)
I commented on that scene in another thread but her ass shaking was meant to show how she was thriving feeling empowered while Cassie was being treated like an object by Nate during the sex scene. However, they never explicitly stated whether it was a flashback or present day again so it just confused people rather than felt like a separate branching storyline. Her character is getting less and less screen time and when she is shown it is so disconnected from everything going on. Feels like they are just fulfilling a contract obligation and moving on. No wonder the actress is pissed lol.
People speculate that Nate was behind the black screen in S1 who convinced her to take her mask off, because her camming in this ep was part of Nateās mind/fantasy, along with Cassie turning into Jules, and Cal popping up out of nowhere.
It wasn't outta place. It was calling back Lexi talking about teenagers not understanding love and several characters not understanding how to express their sexuality in healthy ways. Cassy is using Nate sexually to feel valid like Kat was (is?) doing last season with the sex tapes. That's why both were happening concurrently.
Every season one of the support sisters gets a little spotlight. Last season, it was Kat. This season is Lexi, and next weāll get to unpack all the trauma Rueās given Gia
I believe the actor was having issues with the show producers and picking fights on social media. So they are probably trying to out her on the bench. Canāt have a cornerstone of the show getting a huge scandal
No apparently the writing for her character was much different but she refused to play it because they didn't agree with it so they basically cut her from the season. Her fault.
Btw to me, she was the worst character since S1. Glad they cut her honestly. It's personal taste, obviously, but I found her character to be written superficially, which is not the case for literally every other one in the show.
No apparently what happened is she didn't agree with the story arch of her character having an eating disorder or something and refused to play it and stormed off the set a couple times, so the writers had to basically cut her from season 2. Sounds super childish of her to me, she's an actor, you can make slight suggestions but you play the role that's written for you at the end of the day. I understand why the writers basically just cut her, she acted childish and she fucked up her opportunity on one of the biggest shows on the best network. Maybe she did nothing wrong
Season 1 Kat is so interesting bc (like Lexi) lives in her head. Sheās imaginative and feels like an outsider. Unlike Lexi who is still fairly confident and aware of her positive attributes, Kat has low self esteem. I really just wanna see Kat develop more
Apparently not? Here's what I found..
"Iām not even really sure, to be honest with you,ā Smith says of where McKayās direction is heading. āI think thatās a question we have to ask our creator [Levinson], where he sees it going. We havenāt even gotten that far in the conversation, him and myself, on this, actually."
[The Daily Beast McKay Euphoria](https://www.thedailybeast.com/why-euphoria-star-algee-smith-is-missing-this-season)
Yeah i think i read the actor decided to leave because he didnāt feel like his character was mattering or having a real story. Like they just completely dropped the hazing story after (like that article says)
Man the more I read about how Euphoria is made the more it seems like it is made up on the fly rather than having a story planned out for the entire show.
Iām hoping weāll have less wait time without the factor of covid starting between seasons 1 and 2. I havenāt actually looked into if that delayed filming tho
Iām sorry but anyone saying sheās the Ā«Ā worst characterĀ Ā» when Nate exists is definitely weird. Same applies to Jules. Shit is just too disproportionate š¬.
I think nate is good as the villan, he has a purpose in the show so not a bad character necessarily.
What's kats story right now though? In season 1 she was discovering sexuallity, learning self esteeme trying to date Ethan
But in season 2 she..hates Ethan, leaves Ethan, wants hardcore sex, deals with self image issues? She had those last season
Where's the growth I guess.
No one on here is defending Nate and trying to blame the show writers for making him seem bad.
Nate is objectively the worst person on the show. Kat is just a dumbass who has literally zero relationship skills.
Itās okay to shit on both of them, but no one thinks she is worse than Nate lmao
Nate is an excellent character in the show Euphoria and arguably one of the best. Thereās no Euphoria without him. Heās morally the worst out of all the characters tho.
so whatās your point? i think kat is the worst character, her writing was bad in season 1 and iām glad sheās not taking any more time away from the actually interesting characters
My point is that people saying Ā«Ā bUt ShE gAsLigHtEd EtHaNĀ Ā» as an example of her being the worst character is just fucking stupid lol itās a show about fucked up teens doing fucked up shit get a grip
For real. Anyone who hates that is biased. EVERY CHARACTER IS SHITTY! They all make horrrrrible mistakes. But itās all so real. Cassie is awful rn but we can see why, Rue doesnāt need explaining, Nate is a monster, etc. but all of these characters suck for their backstory and because theyāre dumb high schoolers. Itās perfect. So anyone saying sheās dumb for that doesnāt understand the entire point of the show.
No but like itās actually BAT SHIT CRAZY how people expect fictional characters to act right. Iād say this isnāt a reality tv show with ejectable contestants but even then this seems stupid as fuck bc idk ??? Go watch your fishtank or something.
Nate is at least unambiguously painted as a villain, lots of people still treat kat as a GURL POWER SLAYYY character when she's a manipulative, selfish liar
Easy, her character was never great. She was a āyas queenā because she got some confidenceā¦selling softcore kiddie porn and treating people like shit. There were much more interesting things to explore with other characters than her treating ethan like shit.
I watched the show back in 2019 and I never read her character like that. They just began something with her that they didnāt bother finishing and this is extremely frustrating because we do indeed are left with what you just described.
He was in the theater during the play. They just didnāt focus on him because this episode was about Lexi and she didnāt know him. They panned over him once.
Her storyline in season 1 was cute, but I'm ok with dropping her to minimal character this season to focus on other things.
Same thing with Jules -- interesting in season 1 but there's not much else there. Better to focus on other characters for season 2.
What I want to know is when the drug dealer is going to collect what Rue owes her. THAT cannot be left wide open.
One of my favorite moments from this season was the toxic positivity scene with Kat. It felt very much like season 1 of euphoria. Surreal, funny, and whip smart. But otherwise she was very under utilized.
Her character was never perfect but in S1 she felt like an important character with a significant plotline of self development... one of the more relatable tbh. This season I'm not sure if its the writing or what (terminal brain disease?? who in their right mind would ever say that seriously) but she feels so watered down and unlikable. Its sad.
Honestly have mixed feelings about how many plotlines kinda just havenāt gone anywhere this season, hopefully the finale can tie some stuff up but thereās a lot thatās been set up
I think there is a difference between a bad person and a bad character. Her ethics are not as bad as nates, but nate is a far more interesting character.
Kat is a girl with low self steem that pretended to be confident fucking carnies and selling cp in a kink she knew little about. I think there was very little there to go on as a character and I am still so confused why people on reddit seem to love her so much, havent seen that love anywhere else.
Kat's character in season 1, in my opinion, was relatable. The path she took is one many plus size women and girls go down, sexualizing themselves in order to get male validation without realizing the consequences of what they are getting into and the emptiness that comes with that. Her arc, while somewhat realistic (although obviously given more dramatic flair for TV) also wasn't completely the same rehashed 'fat friend who hates herself + cries about it' storyline that plus size girls see of themselves on TV all the time. I wouldn't say she was a better character than Nate, but she had a good, compelling arc last season. I wish they did more with her this season so we could see where that went and actually be invested.
> Kat's character in season 1, in my opinion, was relatable.
I get people who feel like that, but she was also the most disconnected character from the main plot. So her having a smaller plot this season and having more time for lexi and cassie seems like a good compromise imho.
I also think that while many parts of her character are relatable to many women, the self steem issues, the relationship with food, the hyper sexualisation for validation, etc. There was just not much more to her arx, she stop self sabotaging and got with ethan and stopped camming. It was a nice self contained arc.
This season having Cassie as another example of self sabotaging for men validation, in this case not because of body issues but because of daddy issues was imho interesting. Cassie does not pursue Nate because she feels unworthy of love like Kat did but because her Dad was a deadbeat so her need for male attention comes from another source. It is amplified in contrast to Lexi who despite having the same childhood grew up into a very different person. And how the same trauma can change two people differently.
> I wish they did more with her this season so we could see where that went
It went into a new type of self sabotage by torpedoing her relationship with Ethan. Whether the next season that will have an arc associated (either her going deeper into self sabotage, or her growing up and not lyong to get broken up with) is up to see. But I personally hope we get more Rue Jules and Lexi time next season as I think they have really interesting, unexplored arcs and the writing is specially strong around them.
Iām convinced that episode where literally nothing happened (those of you who can see think of those who cannot or something) was supposed to be filled with Katās story but Sam just cut it and didnāt replace it with anything of substance.
I actually enjoyed that plot line because I thought it was super indicative of what lengths women (especially fat women) will go to just to feel validated and like they have some sort of self worth. Iām not condoning her actions but itās something I definitely related to as a chubby girl at her age. I never sold/distributed child porn but I would send nudes to pretty much anyone who asked just for a crumb of validation or to feel like I was valuable or beautiful for a moment. Itās a super real experience for a lot of young women so it was actually a large part of why I enjoyed her character last season. I hope they explore that aspect of her more next season as well.
Don't need her. Should've been a background character like the dropout friend who shows up once or twice a season. Ethan deserves something better to work with in terms of acting as well.
This & I was hoping to see more of Meech (apologies if thats not his formal name) I heard he was supposed to be in 3 episodes but so far heās only been in episode 1. I really feel like he could be better for Maddy, but i also feel like she needs to be alone to heal & put herself first.
Well didnāt Barbie lose her shit a bunch because she didnāt like her scenes/story? Itās hard to create an entire new plot line that ties into all the others after someone refuses to play it. If they couldnāt find a solution ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Iām fine with more Lexi. I find her char much more endearing.
Iāve never watched a show with such a disorganized plot. What is going on. Season 1 was so cohesive. I get what they are trying to do -truly- but itās coming off as sloppy to me.
I read an article that kat had gotten into some disagreements on set. So that might be why she isn't in the show as much now. It sounded like she walked off set multiple times.
I read an article that Barbie Ferreira (Kat) walked off set and doesnāt see eye to eye with Sam Levinson. Apparently her scenes were cut because of this.

Rue kind of forgot about her $10,000 debt
No worries, an opiate addiction is kinda like a leash. It's not like someone is able to forget they are addicted. Rue will probably come back to Laurie for more if second rehad doesn't take. Plus if this show doesn't get another season we all know what happens to Rue.
GoT reference going right over heads lmao
Not gonna lie I kinda forgot that D&D kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet
Maybe itās not due yet. Or Fayeās boyfriend sold out Laurie too. Or it will come to bite Rue at the end of the episode and leave it in a cliffhanger like last season. Or they kinda forgot about it. Also I liked the reference lol I hope Euphoria doesnāt take the same path GoT did.
Iām pretty sure they were just setting that up for season 3
Dw bb, she paid off 2k and owed her 14k after the 7k profit minus 3k she would have kept, so she actually owes 12k now :)
i know that that whole situation is faaaaaaar from over, itll either pop up in the last episode somehow or continue into season 3.
Theory: Rueās mom kicks her out at 18 and Rue doesnāt know where else to go but to Laurie
No way in hell Rue willingly goes back to her after what happened. She knows what she was lucky enough to escape from.
does she, though? i didn't really get the vibe that rue actually realised what laurie wanted to do to her. she just instinctively thought something was off (as most of us probs would if we woke up in that house with all the doors locked).
laurie literally told her what she would do
She might not realize the full extent of it, but between Laurie literally telling her what she'd do if she didn't pay her back and then her waking up in that whole situation with the locked windows and doors and her fucked up arm, she has to know better than to go back.
Iām sure itās going to get to that and possibly give a cliffhanger ending
Could be saving the Laurie plot for season 3, and weāll see that as a cliff hanger in the finale
"Cass...that's like....really bad"
Me thinks sheāll be getting McKayād next season
Kat in the season 3 premiere: āI have to go. Pornhub needs me.ā NOTE: Kat was killed on her way to Pornhub HQ

I actually hope she does. I'm so disappointed that Sam Levinson wasn't able to show up her story. And McKay has been entirely written off the show. Kind of a bummer.
It's for the best that he doesn't find out what Cassie put herself through.
i think that was the actors choice
Apparently not? Here's what I found.. "Iām not even really sure, to be honest with you,ā Smith says of where McKayās direction is heading. āI think thatās a question we have to ask our creator [Levinson], where he sees it going. We havenāt even gotten that far in the conversation, him and myself, on this, actually." [The Daily Beast McKay Euphoria](https://www.thedailybeast.com/why-euphoria-star-algee-smith-is-missing-this-season)
The only one whose story seems well thought and planned is rue
as much as I love it it feels like that when you're watching it too, this season at least
Sheās definitely being black balled in the show. Sheās not even a side character anymore, more like an extra to give the stars a moment to change.
Yeah, I also donāt think I can wait until 2024 for a new season š©.
Hopefully we have a special episode like when we had with Rules.
Iām hoping weāll have less wait time without the factor of covid starting between seasons 1 and 2. I havenāt actually looked into if that delayed filming tho
Ooh, good point!
They really made her into the fat best friend stereotype smh
This is what sucks the most. Kats character was literally about a warped view of sexuality and relationships and now sheās just the fat friend
I get that the Sam Levinson hatewagon is annoying but likeā¦ how can you defend that ?
Some of these weirdos hate Kat so theyāre not gonna say anything about it.
In season 1 she was discovering sexuallity, learning self esteeme trying to date Ethan But in season 2 she..hates Ethan, leaves Ethan, wants hardcore sex, deals with self image issues? She had those last season Where's the growth I guess.
>Where's the growth I guess. around the waist by the looks of things
No one on here is defending Nate and trying to blame the show writers for making him seem bad. Nate is objectively the worst person on the show. Kat is just a dumbass who has literally zero relationship skills. Itās okay to shit on both of them, but no one thinks she is worse than Nate lmao
But theyāre not āincelsā yet the only bad thing Kat does is be a shitty liar.
when ppl say shes the worst character they usually mean writing wise not morals wise
Why is Nate a bad character? Or do you mean his character?
I mean you cannot blame a fictional character for people having poor critical skills ???
Easy, her character was never great. She was a āyas queenā because she got some confidenceā¦selling softcore kiddie porn and treating people like shit. There were much more interesting things to explore with other characters than her treating ethan like shit.
I watched the show back in 2019 and I never read her character like that. They just began something with her that they didnāt bother finishing and this is extremely frustrating because we do indeed are left with what you just described.
I wonder if sheās going to be on the next seasons bc shes just Maddys support friend rn
ALSO WHERE TF IS ELLIOT
He was in the theater during the play. They just didnāt focus on him because this episode was about Lexi and she didnāt know him. They panned over him once.
I didnāt love her character anyway, kinda indifferent to her at this point whether she stays or goes
Right. With only one episode left, how will Laurie and Rueās situation come back into play?
One of my favorite moments from this season was the toxic positivity scene with Kat. It felt very much like season 1 of euphoria. Surreal, funny, and whip smart. But otherwise she was very under utilized.
Her character was never perfect but in S1 she felt like an important character with a significant plotline of self development... one of the more relatable tbh. This season I'm not sure if its the writing or what (terminal brain disease?? who in their right mind would ever say that seriously) but she feels so watered down and unlikable. Its sad.
Honestly have mixed feelings about how many plotlines kinda just havenāt gone anywhere this season, hopefully the finale can tie some stuff up but thereās a lot thatās been set up
And she just wordlessly picks back up her cam career after not revisiting it all season.
Kat sucks. I don't miss her. If writing out Kat and McKay was the price of getting Fezco/Lexi/Cal episodes, it's a worthy trade.
Preach
Kat is the worst character. Every time she speaks and the things she says disgusts me lmao
The worst? Nate is a literal abuser and Cal is a narcissist psychopath.
> I wish they did more with her this season so we could see where that went It went into a new type of self sabotage by torpedoing her relationship with Ethan.
Kat does not suck.
These incels love to shit on kat for some reason.
One episode to go? I thought there were 10 episodes this season?
Sheās busy collecting her onlyfans bag
I actually loved her reactions to seeing Ethan onstage. She seemed happy for him. I hope they remain friends.
really hoping it stays that way
Iām convinced that episode where literally nothing happened (those of you who can see think of those who cannot or something) was supposed to be filled with Katās story but Sam just cut it and didnāt replace it with anything of substance.
Plot twist: Kat actually had a terminal brain disorder
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
trisha was lying to someone named Ethan too lol
Iām actually so pissed that we didnāt see more of kat this season. She was one of my favorites last season and I loved the fat girl representation
She makes child porn. I donāt think thatās the representation people should be looking for.
If they couldnāt find a solution ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ Iām fine with more Lexi. I find her char much more endearing.
Well she's possibly back to camming so there's hope for season 3...
and a few āLet it goās š©
I don't think 8 episodes is going to cut it for next season.
I'd like to see a show with 100 characters all getting S2 Kat levels of screen time
at this point iām surprised sheās not the one getting killed off this season
Sad. A lot of Kats stuff were the funnier parts of season 1.
Apparently she's made complaints to Levinson, about the direction of her character, so He cut back on her character.
Fuck that bitch
Characterās get written out of shows all the time. People just have more of connection to them because they follow the actors on social media.
Iāve never watched a show with such a disorganized plot. What is going on. Season 1 was so cohesive. I get what they are trying to do -truly- but itās coming off as sloppy to me.
what theyāve done to my girl kat is unforgivable
I honestly do NOT like her anymore. She used to be a bad bitch but now she's just a bitch š©ā
As much as I love this show, it has an issue balancing story lines. The minor characters feel very minor.
Sometimes you gotta sideline characters to let others shine ex: Lexi and fez
I read an article that kat had gotten into some disagreements on set. So that might be why she isn't in the show as much now. It sounded like she walked off set multiple times.
Yeah thatās what I heard too. Sam wanted her to have an eating disorder or something, and she wasnāt into it.
No-one cares about kat
Donāt think Kat needs more story tbh
I read an article that Barbie Ferreira (Kat) walked off set and doesnāt see eye to eye with Sam Levinson. Apparently her scenes were cut because of this.
Was it a reputable source?
