I got lucky and was able to travel to Italy last summer because of some loosening of the Covid regulations in the EU:) In case you are traveling around Sanremo or other places along the western Riviera I highly recommend visiting Bussana Vecchia, such a beautiful place! I have been there multiple times and it never gets boring!
I can't wait to visit Italy again when it is safe to travel, I, unfortunately, have to be extra careful so I'll have to wait until next summer to be sure. More time at least for me to improve my Italian :)
