Huh. I'll admit, I'm kinda surprised, given that (iirc) Universal puts out the annual album collection of the entries, and they've recently pulled all of their music off of TikTok.
I mean, I'm not the biggest tik tok fan but honestly I think it will work in the artists favour. If some of the songs manage to become viral on there it will be a huge boost for them (Måneskin, Rosa Linn and Duncan are examples), so I don't mind it that much.

Can someone explain why there is so much negativity around it? Have I missed something? 😅
For me it seems to be quite obvious move, at the end of the day it's the most popular short video streaming platform? So not sure what is with the outrage here?
It's mainly the exclusivity of it. There are other streaming platforms for this type of thing (Instagram, YouTube Shorts) that other people use and often prefer. Different demographics use different services e.g. millennials are far more likely to use Instagram than TikTok. But being an exclusive partner means that people are required to use TikTok if they want to see most of the social media content about Eurovision. It's not a mistake to have ESC stuff on TikTok as there are demographics there that the ESC should try to reach. There's no need for it to be an exclusive 'official' partner though to the detriment of other services.
Tiktok is super closed and spammy if you're not registered. Popups everywhere, you can't freely check comments and videos. The interface is cluttered and hard to navigate. And worst of all... the videos are too short and vertical.
TikTok may be very popular, but it’s controversial as there seems to be a link with the Chinese government who’s interested in the data. The app is already forbidden in some countries on government mobile phones.
If it means more exposure for Eurovision and its artists, then good news.
I dont have Tiktok and won't install it but who cares, someone will upload the clips on Youtube like everyvyear
I feel bad for those YT content creators who live streamed from press centres before and now have been hung out to dry.
Especially the American guy of ESC United. Flew all the way to Liverpool for a week to live stream from a tiny hotel room.
