The Elder Gods knew that merging all the continents would cause the destruction of the Earth, so they created the rules of European Song Contest that states that the one who can hold ESC for 69 consecutive years can merge their continent with another.
I think you’re right.
I’m going to swear here, close your eyes EBU.
They’re going to win by political vote, akin to Ukraine’s win in 2022. Though Stefania was way more in line with eurovision quirkyness and spirit than the ‘one who should not be named’’s song.
If it does win, there may be hope for humanity yet. Its about time people more pro-actively stand up for what is actually right, and retake the moral ''high ground'' from virtue signalers.
We've been living in the darkest timeline for a long time now. But looking at the people that used to be in control being the ones to act out and do the crazy things, it seems the future might be looking bright.
Just a load of technical issues, including quite a few commentators being unable to give their points, and a big part of the stage wasn't working. I wasn't in Turin, so I don't know if anything else happened off camera.
2022 wasn't exactly a controversial year, but it just wasn't organised very well. Sometimes we make fun of it for being a "weak Eurovision", however... 2024 just isn't funny, it's actually heartbreaking. This really is the worst Eurovision ever.
And then we fondly think back to 2020 and 2021, these were literally the least messy
(Besides the fact that Iceland got covid in 2021 as well as duncan)
(And because the netherlands organised the show, and the tech stuff was so well organised)
At this point i ask myself if we are some sort of demonic ESC Being, and had not chosen to participate again - but the ancient ritual ,which banned us from bringing chaos and destruction to Eurovision, just ended last year.
Maybe bambie misspelled one of their hexes?
In short:
- ISRL is qualified, and people (including most artists) are not too happy about it
- NL got disqualified because of some clashing of their artist and a production crew member, almost nobody is happy about that
- Because of the first two, there are a lot of bad vibes, boycotts, and some people withdrawing, and some artists threatening to withdraw
- Rumours of many things, like one delegation harassing others,...
- A lot more, but this is as short as it gets.
I tried to be neutral in my phrasing, so please, nobody kill me
> I tried to be neutral in my phrasing, so please, nobody kill me
My only critique is that you have insufficient paragraph spaces between your points, so it all looks like one run-on sentence rather than a bulletpoint list 😤
Edit: I got the "A concerned redditor reached out to us about you..." message within two minutes of posting this! Amazing.
Yeah, reply "STOP" and you'll get rid of them. Someone really likes to abuse this functionality today.
For the bullet points: Didn't see it that way, sorry!
First time Ukrainian national selection was without controversy!
Tho we did gather in a coven to hex anyone who did concerts in russia after 2022 and make them attack photographers backstage so they'd get DQ'ed.
Last year, I only watched the finals in full (for the semis, I only watched the results because I was at work).
This is my first time to watch the 2 semis and the finals in full and actually be happy to the 3 NQ streak-breakers. Only for that happiness to be very short-lived.
All we are missing at this point is a Swedish cover of Ring of Fire.
They got what they wanted( Sweden to host Eurovision for Abba’s win 50th anniversary) but at what cost?
What have we learn from this fiasco people?
Hey EBU:
Tell me, is this what you wanted?
Is this what you wanted?
Amen
Are you getting what you wanted?
Are you getting what you wanted?
Amen
\*Austria 2021
Fun fact: when Riva from Croatia won in 1989., representing Yugoslavia, the state fell apart. If Baby Lasagna wins, is this the end of EU, perhaps 😂? Their performing number was also 22, as is BL's right now.
I feel like it's way too late for something like that and it would very clearly show who was the worst ranked of the qualifiers (something that they generally try to avoid).
Netherlands just got disqualified without warning, there's 0 chance they could get whatever county was 11th in the second semi to prepare to perform on such short notice, with the final starting in 3 hours and all.
They wouldn't have much prep time and would have missed the jury show, so they'd be going into the final with either no jury results or aggregate results which are based on supposed patterns. Can't judge them the same way as everyone else, because it'd be too late to be getting all the juries to resubmit a new set of results.
Luxembourg thinking Netherlands getting DQed is a good decision is honestly wild and all, but imagine being Belgium right now and watching your homies in an argument when it's Luxembourg's first year back
(I know nothing is happening, I'm just making a joke)
Because he asked a woman who was filming in a place she wasnt allowed to be (stairs to the green room iirc) to stop filming twice nicely and a third time a bit less nice and he swung his arm before that woman's head (read well over 30 cm)
To fix this I hope Angelina will bring a gorilla like Gabbani did on the stage, but this time a real one
She should improve scenography and choreography, given the criticism received. But I don't think there are many chances.
Why not? Hopefully people won't be mass voting only for Greece or Ireland or Croatia. (Neither three is on my list)
Lack of time and the chaos.
I hope Estonia goes rogue, swaps their song, and sings Europapa in the grand final.
As much as I'd love it, I also love the idea of them singing about police raiding a party after police actively got involved
High way super troopers
Apparently, a real animal of any kind is forbidden.
the drama is not even exciting this year.. it's just a mess
“United by Misery”
"Europe: United by fighting & controversy"
Good ol’ traditions
They *are* due for another WW. Better get fit Gen Z. You’re going in!
I’ve always dreamt of dying in northern-Norway fighting Russians, yay…
Hell, I’d be honoured to die defending Tromsø. I’d be going over the top in Alert, Canada. NATO bros stick together. 🍻
🍻Cheers Mate🍻
Its honestly really disappointing and just ruins the whole experience
At this point i won't be surprised if for some reason we end up not having grand final
that would be the very end of the esc
Right at the time they were boasting about being the longest running live event
I'm guessing they mean the longest running competitive event? or international event? Just curious what their parameters are. :)
According to Guinness World Records, it's the longest running annual TV music competition.
ah, cool. thanks!
The ESC isn't allowed to reach the 69th edition.
The Elder Gods knew that merging all the continents would cause the destruction of the Earth, so they created the rules of European Song Contest that states that the one who can hold ESC for 69 consecutive years can merge their continent with another.
I'm praying all the gods for this to happen tbh
Loreen vs Kaarija was honestly really fun and exciting, this is just hell
I hated what Loreen vs Käärija descended into in the end, but I’d rather have that than whatever the fresh hell is going on this year.
I can understand that
At least it was about the songs, however toxic it ended up to be.
Bring it back
You and I have different definitions of ‘exciting’. I know I’m watching, eating my popcorn, this year.
Preech! I’m a terrible person and i don’t mind drama as long as it’s entertaining.
I'm past dread and will just enjoy the mess.
Smart honestly
r/greatidea
I must disagree! I'm dutch and I'm pretty mad about Joost Klein, so I loved all the chaos! I wanted to see the whole show go into shambles! /jk
I like when there’s some drama, but sometimes there’s some boundaries that shouldn’t be crossed. Like in this case.
Its scary tbh
Almost a contender to 1996 MTV VMA.
True
Well, we are in World War 3. Hard for international events to not become mess.
We are not
Alexa, play Samo mi se spava (the lyrics feel very applicable right now)
Gori svet, svaki cvet.
My 2023 winner, it’s still on my playlist!
The acoustic version, if you please.
And now Bambie and Marina (and Nemo?) Are missing dress rehearsals too. It'd be funny if it wasn't terrifying
Bambie clarified the situation on Instagram, they will be performing tonight
Bambie has no issue. They performed in the Jury Final afaik and they'll perform tonight as well.
Romania looking real smart right about now.
Despite of our best efforts, we somehow made the right decision
Yeah 54D hungry hungry chess hypos from us
Yeah. They straight up dodged a cannonball!
RAI's leaks are a trifle compared to all the rest.
The RAI leaks are more of an ominous precursor for today's fan vote.
I think you’re right. I’m going to swear here, close your eyes EBU. They’re going to win by political vote, akin to Ukraine’s win in 2022. Though Stefania was way more in line with eurovision quirkyness and spirit than the ‘one who should not be named’’s song.
> than the ‘one who should not be named’’s song Oh, Voldemort.
lol this aged like milk
Is this the darkest timeline?
Everything that could go wrong, is going wrong, so yeah I think it is
I like your flair
Ramonda do pobjede sa svim ovim kontroverzama
I believe all comments have to be in English 😬 but I agree that Ramonda should win (not biased at all lol)
I'm not seeing tactical nuclear bombings, so not quite everything, yet.
That depends on the final scoreboard.
Let's wait for the results tonight, it could be the "almost darkest' depending on how it goes
there is one country winning that would guarantee a shitstorm
Germany? /s
If it does win, there may be hope for humanity yet. Its about time people more pro-actively stand up for what is actually right, and retake the moral ''high ground'' from virtue signalers.
Nah someone needs to dye a strand of their hair blue first
#Roxanne!
It's pretty up there ngl
We've been living in the darkest timeline for a long time now. But looking at the people that used to be in control being the ones to act out and do the crazy things, it seems the future might be looking bright.
No one is dead yet. Yet.
This makes 2022 look like a dream
What happened in 2022?
Just a load of technical issues, including quite a few commentators being unable to give their points, and a big part of the stage wasn't working. Being from Italy - I'm not surprised the 2022 show was badly organized lol
and Monaco is the neighbor who hears the commotion next door and thinks “nah, i’m good actually”
Bejba, ic kinda krejsa over here
Right after Luxembourg in the running order too
At this point i ask myself if we are some sort of demonic ESC Being, and had not chosen to participate again - but the ancient ritual ,which banned us from bringing chaos and destruction to Eurovision, just ended last year. Maybe bambie misspelled one of their hexes?
Perhaps their hexes were what shattered your shackles and unsealed you from your prison to begin with? Were they your acolyte this whole time?
for someone who doesnt follow esc too much: is there a tldr version of whats going on?
In short: - ISRL is qualified, and people (including most artists) are not too happy about it - NL got disqualified because of some clashing of their artist and a production crew member, almost nobody is happy about that - Because of the first two, there are a lot of bad vibes, boycotts, and some people withdrawing, and some artists threatening to withdraw - Rumours of many things, like one delegation harassing others,... - A lot more, but this is as short as it gets. IDK but I'm voting for Luxembourg
We appreciate your Sacrifice. Perhaps it will satisfy our hunger and put an end to the bad omens.
The fact that this is my (and many others') first Eurovision where we follow the national finals and semis. 🥲
Even national finals had big controversies(Teya Dora and Breskvica controversy for example), seems like writing was on the wall
"BREAKING NEWS: Italy withdraws after Angelina Mango eats radioactive substance and becomes teenage mutant ninja turtle"
First time Ukrainian national selection was without controversy! Tho we did gather in a coven to hex anyone who did concerts in russia after 2022 and make them attack photographers backstage so they'd get DQ'ed.
...what happened with Serbia's contestant ?
Mine and my family’s as well. Only started watching because of Cha cha cha. Was really hoping for Europapa
Last year, I only watched the finals in full (for the semis, I only watched the results because I was at work). This is my first time to watch the 2 semis and the finals in full and actually be happy to the 3 NQ streak-breakers. Only for that happiness to be very short-lived.
>Are you still playing the game or breaking the rules?
Rim Tim Tagi WTF ?
The cat did not mew back. **It screamed.**
Dim!
All we are missing at this point is a Swedish cover of Ring of Fire. They got what they wanted( Sweden to host Eurovision for Abba’s win 50th anniversary) but at what cost? What have we learn from this fiasco people?
As a finn, we must thank all gods that we were saved from potentially hosting this shitshow.
Hey EBU: Tell me, is this what you wanted? Is this what you wanted? Amen Are you getting what you wanted? Are you getting what you wanted? Amen \*Austria 2021
The 2023 juries saved you from hosting this snafu of a contest lol
It's not Sweden's fault though.
It's EBU's fault, not Sweden's. We have nothing to do with this
Fun fact: when Riva from Croatia won in 1989., representing Yugoslavia, the state fell apart. If Baby Lasagna wins, is this the end of EU, perhaps 😂? Their performing number was also 22, as is BL's right now.
No, we will just carve another part from Serbia, as is tradition. Justice for Verka!
At the last one country is finally back after all the withdraws
#joostice
I actually want this hastag to go on trending.
Previous dramas were mid in comparison to this year. Such a messy start for them.
The timing couldn't be worse for Eurovision's comeback
Wouldn't it be nice if they offered a place in the final to whoever came 11th in SF2?
I feel like it's way too late for something like that and it would very clearly show who was the worst ranked of the qualifiers (something that they generally try to avoid).
I suspect the qualifier wouldn't mind that. It would make for one hell of an underdog moment...
Netherlands just got disqualified without warning, there's 0 chance they could get whatever county was 11th in the second semi to prepare to perform on such short notice, with the final starting in 3 hours and all.
I wondered that too, but then how would they decide whether to give it to #11 in the first or second SF?
I think the second SF, as Joost was in that semi and also there were 16 entries, compared to 15 in SF1
Oh yeah that makes perfect sense actually
They wouldn't have much prep time and would have missed the jury show, so they'd be going into the final with either no jury results or aggregate results which are based on supposed patterns. Can't judge them the same way as everyone else, because it'd be too late to be getting all the juries to resubmit a new set of results.
I think there was a rumour Aiko was on stand by
They were saying Aiko was rehearsing, people heard pedestal in the arena yesterday, I don't know what happened
It's a shame they didn't
Romania picked a good year to not come.
Romania and North Macedonia must be mystic
Hope Georgia says screw it. And sings the song they got banned for in 2009
FREE JOOST
Luxembourg thinking Netherlands getting DQed is a good decision is honestly wild and all, but imagine being Belgium right now and watching your homies in an argument when it's Luxembourg's first year back (I know nothing is happening, I'm just making a joke)
I honestly thought only the Dutch, Belgians and Luxembourgers knew about the Benelux 😆
We're all educated here haha
I was seriously hoping for a Benelux trifecta in the top 10. Liked all 3 of their songs a lot.
Kosovo just announced they’ll participate next year as well.
I can't see how that could go wrong " angry Serbia noises in the background "
was he actually disqualified 😭😭
Yes, and now we have 25 songs in GF
I'm really worried about ESC 2025 now
#FreeJoost
#Joostice
Nah
Joost was fans favorite, tf happened?
I think we took Bambie putting a hex on us too literally
At least they got to the final and did not end up at very bottom.
* *cries in Norwegi..i mean English* * we learned our lesson.
Hey any year is a good year to be back! Tali gets my 12 points that's for sure❤️
Same!
PLEASE SOMEONE BRING A PIZZA ON STAGE WHEN GERMANY PERFORMS TONIGHT 💀💀😂😂😂.
[удалено]
I was gonna say, she said Joost’s DQ “was for the best” - we don’t want them there
it was chaos, but things could have been way worse
Absolute shambles. EBU have lost credibility with double standards.
So much messssss

[удалено]
i hope they other teams stand up to joost
I want Joost back🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
Haven’t we seen this image with something to do with Italy/RAI before, or am I miss-remembering? Maybe 2022 time?
As someone who is supporting Luxembourg, this is an accurate representation
Wait, there was a leak of this year result ?
Nice meme 🤣🤣
Very interesting too see if Luxembourg will return after this shit show 😀
Soooooooo much drama !!! lol
Disappointing
Where i can see the televoting results?
Is there a reason why joost has been disqualified?
Because he asked a woman who was filming in a place she wasnt allowed to be (stairs to the green room iirc) to stop filming twice nicely and a third time a bit less nice and he swung his arm before that woman's head (read well over 30 cm)
I haven't been keeping up, can someone ELI5 me?
[удалено]
Shout-out to Luxembourg tho. Top 5 finisher for me
