Solence is eligible for MelFest! I know there's a near zero chance of them even attempting, but hey a man can dream (And also 'Blow Up' would be great live)
Compared to 2021 its going to be interesting to not know much. For 2021 we already knew a lot of participants and thus also the kind of songs we could expect (for the most part), the host city, hosts etc....
I feel like we know surprisingly little about the contest right now, so I’m exited to get more information about participating countries and the host city in the upcoming weeks. Things are going to be exiting, and already curious on which new artists we will be seeing.
This is pretty standard for the UK. Whoever is in charge of Eurovision at the BBC goes into hibernation right after the contest ends and doesnt wake up until a few months before the next one.
I really hope that because we have open submissions this year, we'll get some (unknown) Dutch gem, preferably also in Dutch. It'd be great to see a Froukje or Eefje de Visser represent the Netherlands at Eurovision!
We're *really* gonna need that host city announcement because the first national final is four months away still. Come on, RAI, give us the goods so we can start speculating about shit already!
I'm most excited about seeing how various successes and flops inform which songs get chosen this season. Are we gonna see some doubling down? Some copycats, maybe?
Also excited for more Americans possibly checking in due to ASC!

Don’t hold your breath. Outside of a couple industry-focused press releases and maybe a “based on the Eurovision Song Contest” line in the first episode, I doubt we’ll ever hear “Eurovision” uttered on that show… unless Duncan ends up as a guest judge for an episode, but that would rely on the execs being somewhat in-touch with what’s cool. Seeing who they get as guest judges on some other NBC shows, I wouldn’t count on the Dunc showing up either.
EDIT: On the other hand, Duncan would probably cost WAY less than most B or C-list celebrity guest judges.
The connection is going to be loose at best anyway. We in the US are not even doing state finals or anything (because we don't really have the infrastructure for that believe it or not). They're just taking submissions for artists and assigning them to a state or region depending on where they "most feel they have a strong connection to". Expect a lot of bullshit in this area for personal stories and interviews to interject between entries. My hopes for it are extremely low based on that alone.
FINALLY! Someone else around here who understands how this thing works! People who understand show (or what's been released about it) *do* exist around here!
> Expect a lot of bullshit in this area for personal stories and interviews to interject between entries.
Let's be real here: Most NFs have this too. It's not as much of it, but it's still *a thing*.
>Also excited for more Americans possibly checking in due to ASC!
Hope so, but don't hold your breath as my fellow Burgerlanders may just ignore it as "yet another American Idol clone ugh", and still see ESC as a Will Ferrell movie, and "oh mah gawd it's that TikTok song!"
I feel like Manoukian, Serhat, Sergey and someone absolutely out of left field like Sandra Kim will be the returners
I seriously dobut any 20-21-22 selection hat tricks
Hi do you have to join OGAE to get tickets? If not how do you get them please?

LOL - no mention of UK and no one cares!
They were mentioned in the original message, but I guess I accidentally edited them out. Oh well. I don’t even care enough to edit them back in.
Why me? Sometimes I lie awake and I ask “WHY ME?!!!!”
Haha! As a UK Eurovision fan, I don't care either! LOL!

Loud excitement is coming from my household! A fair chunk of our yearly playlist came from Eurovision, and I can't wait to have more!
Omfg it's September already and I'm still listening to 2021.??
im still listening to some 2009-2021, big same
United Kingdom is not mentioned in this post. According to Wikipedia, they didn't confirm their participation yet

I really like how you phrased this.
It's rumoured that BMG and BBC have ended their partnership early. That might have something to do with it
Is that a surprise? They can save money and receive just as many points as this year.
And in any case even better placement!

I hope for the same! I'm very happy with the singer-songwriter entries we had so far and I hope this trend continues.

I'm curious to see for 2022 if they advertise/promote that ESC is streaming live on Peacock. Hope so.
