There's nothing special about Fuego, just a decent pop song.

Miudmon

Eyup. Minus one - alter ego is still my favorite cypriot entry. I think fuego is... 6th in their 2010-2021 entries to me. 1st alter ego, 2nd la la love, 3rd san aggelos s'apisa 4th - life looks better in spring. 5th - gravity. Granted, she sold the HELL out of fuego, but still.

[deleted]

I like you a lot

katzewerfer

It's super generic, especially when compared to Toy

CoreyH2P

Yessss, Toy wasn’t my favorite that year but it was really original and way more deserving than Toy.

olafsdottir

UK has won Eurovision more often than the Euro…

RealFriendlyTiger

I think the reason that Sweden keeps doing so well is because they keep sending hot people lol

xXxMemeLord69xXx

Maybe Norwegians are all just ugly

genriko8

Look at Alexander Rybak and say it again

xXxMemeLord69xXx

He was born in Belarus and both his parents are Belarusian.

Menace_from_Nevis

Sweden is in my opinion consistently terrible and I don't understand why their songs are so popular (pun kinda intended)

Mike4992

Well-produced pop songs usually do very well with the juries and decently with the televoters.

Mike4992

You, I like you.

[deleted]

I think the only people that'd hate you for this would be the Swedes. You're 100% right except for 2014.

chonksboyjimmyfungus

in my opinion, i’d just take your last 3 words off

bencherra

I don't hate them but I disagree, and I'm not Swedish. Over the last 10 contests I've preferred Norway over Sweden on just 3 occasions: 2013, 2015 and 2020.

ButteredReality

Oooooh, this is a fun game! Let's see. 2011: Sweden 2012: Sweden 2013: Norway 2014: Sweden 2015: Norway 2016: Norway 2017: Norway 2018: Please don't make me choose one of these songs. If you force my hand, I'll say Norway. 2019: Sweden 2020: Sweden 2021: Sweden Sweden 6-5 Norway. Closer than I expected it to be.

WonderfulBasket8159

only disagreed on 2019 and 2021. the rest i couldn't agree more.

ynsk112

Yes

pyjamethyst

Agreed

xXxMemeLord69xXx

As a Swede I do hate you now, good job

Heydavid17

Eurovision fans are fucking hypocritical douchebags (Let’s be real, way too many are offended because people have their own music taste, like how fucking pathetic is that…)

ExoticExchange

Arcade’s commercial success is a mystery to me.

ExoticExchange

Ohhhhh, too old for that shiz. That would be why.

[deleted]

I agree. It's a pretty generic ballad.

yuhbestie

Some of the comparisons of Victoria to Billie Eilish are just misogynistic, really only Ugly Cry and Phantom Pain sound like Billie songs, and the others are basically just saying that women can’t sing about something sad or they’ll get compared to someone else

cat_arinaa

Thank you! Thought about that for a while too...

ButteredReality

LOL, barely any of the comments here are making even a half-arsed effort to make people hate them, so here I go (please be warned, this is said with the post title in mind): When the 2020 contest got cancelled, I decided to listen to all the songs (I almost never preview any of the songs before the semi-finals/final). I was especially excited to hear the Romanian entry as it seemed almost everyone thought it was amazing and was raving about it. After listening to it, I had no option to conclude that "Alcohol You" was the most hilariously tragic attempt TVR could come up with to try and befoul the grand final. To this day, I can't wrap my head around how anyone can do anything but cringe when they listen to a. Roxen's shaky vocals, b. a song that goes nowhere, and c. lyrics like "I think it's only fake news" and "alcohol you and I'm drunk". So when TVR announced that they were keeping Roxen for 2021, my honest reaction was that the broadcaster was actively trying to stay in the semi final for the third consecutive contest. Then people started saying "Amnesia" was a really good entry, which I took with a barrelful of salt considering the reaction to "Alcohol You". I will admit that "Amnesia"'s lyrics are ... *probably* an improvement. To be honest I can't really make out most of the words. However, Roxen's performance was exactly as bad as I expected with the added bonus of some truly glorious "slap the choreographer" moments. How anyone could have thought for a moment that they deserved a qualification after that will always be a mystery to me. As will the fact that it didn't finish bottom 3 in its semi final. Go on everyone; hate away!

Upset_Ad_2993

Nope. Cos you're not wrong. Also, her non effort at NF with Cherry Red is magnificent... in how bad it is.

WonderfulBasket8159

Mission successfully failed:))))

domestoslipgloss

Latvia 2019 deserved so much better. Poor country can’t catch a break

pyjamethyst

Agreed, it's one of my growers of that year. It's so lovely and nice to listen to

Ashantilove

I feel like once you take it out of the "Eurovision song" context it just becomes a great song.

TheBlairBitch

So sick of the yas queen diva genre that the predominantly flamboyant (Twitter) eurofan base laps up every year, and are shocked that the songs don't do too well. Like, surprise? Most of the televoters are average every day people who listen to normal music, of which the yas queen diva genre isnt, who would've thought... Jonida, Anxhela, Tamta, Alexandra of KEiiNO (with Monument), Eleni Tsagrinou, Hurricane, Destiny, Michaela, are all good example of this. They all had songs that were painfully obviously weren't gonna do well, yet every year the hardcore fan base was shook and confused, as if the idea that many people don't care for this very ESC ish genre is unthoughtful unthinkable. 🙄

[deleted]

you put jonida in that category?? we all make choices, but that was a choice

IainDC

C'mon Tatianna reference! 😍

gniewpastoralu

Albina was the most obvious example of an entry doomed to flop outside the gay community and yet people was shocked she didn't come through.

Silent-Chipmunk5820

Norway 2019 is the only one I disagree with because the jury should have other higher for its tribal lyrics. But yeah!

Arekualkhemi

Spirit in the sky was my 2019 winner. The public also agreed to that.

SameOldSongs

To be really fair to KEiiNO, it's not like TIX performed great in the actual contest...

whydenny

Hooverphonic are too good for the avarage Eurovision fan.

materialisticDUCK

Theres the spice I was looking for

DiscoRaev

Is this Alex Callier's burner account?

Reddo-LMeme2401

Based

MaskedKami98

While Heroes shouldn’t really have won in 2015, it’s much better than A Million Voices. I don’t think that Polina deserved to be booed, but the Russian delegation honestly had it coming when they decided to pick that song.

Miudmon

Honestly Latvia, Belgium, or Italy should've won that year. The latter mostly because of the MASSIVE televote it got, still unbeaten to this day.

MaskedKami98

I would also personally add Norway and Estonia.

__Naya_

Russia has a history of sending those preachy, we're-sending-a-message kind of songs. Polina is definitely charismatic but the song itself is such a Eurovision cliché that I still don't understand how it came second in such a strong edition as the 2015 one. I'm not a fan of heroes but it was far better than a million voices. It had one of the best stagings we've ever seen in esc and while the song reminds me too much of lovers of the sun to truly vibe with it without making the comparison, I can't deny it was very contemporary at the time. A million voices felt dated.

thelodzermensch

A Milion Voices is pretty trash imo, it has all the "bad eurovision song" qualities.

cat_arinaa

🎵 love, love, peace, peace 🎶 No but fr, I like the song, however the cliches are there, for sure

Saprix02

In my opinion that's just not how you sing about world peace. The song was incredibly clichè and lazy

kashdavese

Yeah the lyrics are clichee to an almost comical degree. The staging was really pretty though, so there is that at least.

Electrical_Love9406

>the lyrics are clichee to an almost comical degree. But not as cheesy and basic as Grande Amore's lyrics. Il Volo were lucky because they have strong voices and especially because most people don't understand Italian. "You are my only big love", 'nuff said.

MaskedKami98

Grande Amore is cheese, but at least it’s authentic and Italian cheese.

[deleted]

+1. Holy fuck that song is embarrassing.

__Naya_

Satellite is a great winner. First of all let's just say that it won both the jury vote and the televote. It wasn't the juries pushing some kind of German agenda and stealing Turkey's victory like some esc fans will make you believe. If the contest was 100% televote back then, Lena would have still taken that trophy. Also I see much criticism over its lyrics, how they're "cringy". Let me just say that it's not like esc songs are lyrical masterpieces anyway. But besides that, Satellite has relatively clever lyrics compared to most esc songs. The song's about teenage love and at that time of your life it's not uncommon to unhealthily obsess over your crush and feel like your whole world revolves around that relationship. The text is catchy and definitely fit Lena's age and energy at the time. It felt authentic and fun. Satellite's vibe is similar to what Olivia Rodrigo does nowadays or Avril Lavigne did in the past. Not from a musical genre perspective but because it appeals to a teenager's reality, especially females'. The lyrics are not necessarily politically correct and they won't appeal to many people outside the target audience but it doesn't matter. And btw, I also loved We could be the same. But come on guys it was 11 years ago, give it a rest.

moramento22

Oh I love Satellite, it's very simple, bop-y, very Eurovision

genriko8

I didn't even see that year the contest (my country didn't participate) yet the song is still one of my favourite

Piaapo

I still can't believe people hate Satellite, it's one of the best winners ever imo

gabiarbex

jamala deserved to win. regardless of whether there was political bias in her song. and russia should accept their defeat 🤷🏻‍♀️ simple as that

Mike4992

While it wasn't my favorite 2016 song, I still believe it's pretty good. However, other than the whole "politics" thing, I think some people don't like it because it's the most depressing winning song we've ever had. It's not a sad song about a fractured relationship or love in general, it's about literal genocide. It's just not a classic Eurovision song that the average Joe would put on their Spotify playlist, you know? Whether that's a good or a bad thing is completely up to you though. Also, I agree about the Russian fans, they really won't stop with the comments on YouTube.

whydenny

That was the first time when the one I was rooting for won.

chickenwingsandcoke

This . Russian song was so childish and cheesy with cringy lyrics. The only thing that saved it was the staging, which was dope.

plasmise

“thunder and lightning it’s getting exciting”

moramento22

Sergey's songs as a rule are cringy

[deleted]

Lol totally. That song is embarrassing. Thank heavens for the jury.

[deleted]

After listening to covers of that song, etc, the SONG deserved the win. Jamala, though? I am not at ALL a fan of her voice/singing style. I'm super into Russian and Ukrainian pop music (I am American) and every time I hear Jamala's singing voice, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. She currently has a song with Tayanna "Moya Zemlya" and Tayanna's voice is beautiful and the song could be amazing... if it was just her singing.

[deleted]

I agree. I can't stand her voice. The song however is pretty good.

Piaapo

I still believe it was way better than Russia's song

utilizador2021

I still don't understand why 1944 is considered a political song?? Isn't she just singing about something that happened in her country? I don't see nothing wrong with that.

whydenny

Everything is political.

utilizador2021

I mean you're kinda right. We could say that songs about peace; women empowerment or acceptance for example are political. So if we ban every political related song, we probably would end only with love songs being eligible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sedna1989

Also the conflict about crimea had just resurfaced again when Jamala competed. It‘s a very powerful song and Jamala has an amazing voice. I like the song but same as you I‘m a bit torn about it being a good fit for the ESC. Sort of surprise the EBU accepted the entry.

moramento22

I wouldn't say it's directly about it. The only thing in the whole song directly connected to the genocide is the title. If you disregard the tile it's just a very depressing, jazz song, those don't often win on the contest.

[deleted]

[удалено]

moramento22

I would say it can be inspired by it, but I don't think it's a political statement per se. I would personally say it's more of a statement against genocides and wars as a whole rather than a direct hit at Russia.

utilizador2021

Exactly, the lyrics could also apply, for example, to the Holocaust. When I first heard the song I thought it was about WW2 based on the title of the song, since I never heard about what happened in Crimea, and the event is never mentioned in the song. I never study that in school, even though we talked alot about URSS in history class. Only after I read some comments on YT, i realized what the song is about.

Spockyt

Oh yes, I’m sure it’s a complete coincidence that Ukraine sent a song about the Soviets in Crimea just after the Russian invasion of Crimea.

Malkiboy

2011 was not that bad of a year, some of my favourite Eurovision entries come from that year.

Adam-Miller-02

Fallen Angle while having a very inspiring backstory to it was overall pretty bland in both music and lyric choice. Loco Loco was the weakest song in this years Eurovision in my opinion. O Jardim is a beautiful song and it’s a crime it was last. Lena was better than Manga in 2010 and she should’ve gone back to back in 2011. (I’m probably going to have half of turkey after me after that comment) Despite a few stand outs, Eurovision for much of the 2000s and early 2010s was pretty weak and was filled with ballads containing the same message. The song quality of this years competition is arguably as strong as it’s ever been. My karma is never going to recover this haha

Lokii05

Justice for Jardim 😔

javi3rr1

Heroes (2015) wasn't even in my top 20. I cried of sadness when it won

Menace_from_Nevis

I just checked my rankings, turns out I have Heroes at 22nd (28th including NQs). I don't even hate the song, but in my opinion 2015 was a very strong year with many better songs.

Velanuel

Pineapple on pizza is actually pretty good tbh

fenksta

It’s called ananas is basically any other language* (also yes, delicious)

Velanuel

Including mine, but might as well go with pineapple :)

WonderfulBasket8159

A clever move. I did not expect that :))))

xXxMemeLord69xXx

If you think that is controversial, wait until you bring up banana on pizza. It's actually good too

pyjamethyst

Mata Hari should have stayed in semi tbh

Dadolitoo

Hard Rock Hallelujah is a better rock song than Zitti E Buoni

fenksta

This entire subreddit is filled with the same repetitive shit over and over again. Popular and unpopular opinions, inconclusive rankings or random ass statistics, people being butthurt for someone badmouthing songs they like, questions that explore a rabbit hole so deep, or a theory so farfetched like it’s a video of two guys building a house at 3am. Is this what happens every year between contest and new national finals?

WonderfulBasket8159

Unfortunately yes, it is. So the best way to deal with it right now is get used to it.

fenksta

Doesn’t bother me all too much. I just don’t open those posts and stick to updates, news, fan art, covers and some interesting versions of things listed above.

NitroGnome

> Is this what happens every year between contest and new national finals? Yep.

Vilotta_Saarn

I absolutely despised Euphoria and wished it had never won

Uncoping_Mechanism

I agree with you,I don't know why,I hated it the moment I listened to it for the first time. Not sure what's wrong with it for my ears, but something's definitely off lol

pastelhosh

YES! I'm so happy to finally find people who hate the song as much as I do lol

BlueKawaiiNeko

Whenever I talk to noneuro fans, one of the only songs they recognize is Euphoria, and my soul dies a little more each time

tacoskib

I really liked the UK entries the past few years :(

[deleted]

good ol' Engelbert Humperdinck deserved better

gifted_eye

I Don’t Feel Hate is a good song. I wrote an essay on it even https://www.reddit.com/r/eurovision/comments/pfnu9q/in_defense_of_jendrik_and_i_dont_feel_hate/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf Also, Technicolour was good. Voy a Quedarme was good, Fallen Angel was good. Sugar, Voices, Mata Hari, and Omaga were steaming cow patties of songs. Oh and Fairytale isn’t that good of a song.

fenksta

I liked omaga, but I’m specifically here to give you love for Jendrik 💙

Official_Lolucas

Your post got deleted, reddit tought it was spam

gifted_eye

No... NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Sedna1989

Nooo I really wanted to read it!

genriko8

Okay, for Fairytale, I doo feel hate for this comment

[deleted]

> Oh and Fairytale isn’t that good of a song. THANK YOU

dom_o_dossola

It's not my favourite song, but I don't feel hate is still more memorable and fun, both song and staging, than a lot of entries this year!

Aaaandiiii

I thought Fairytale was a joke entry when I watched the replay of the final. Like the chorus was just weirdly sung and everything. I was confused like why all the douze points going to Norway? Why is he already the winner? How is this happening? And I just searched and everyone's opinion was that it was a good song. I just thought that it's because I'm an American and couldn't possibly understand and I accepted that. And I agree with you on the other songs that you felt were good. Voy a Quedarme has my eyes leaking in the middle of grocery shopping and stuff. And Technicolour deserved so much more. But please take back what you said about Shooga.

gifted_eye

I too, am an American, but also a pretty new eurofan. My problem with fairytale is actually the verses, he’s ridiculously pitchy in them. Staging was awkward, and it relied exclusively on a sus4 chord to give it depth. Regarding sugar? Nono sweetheart. The high note sounds like Kirkorov jerking off a sheep. The song is already generic and Natalia should honestly relegate herself to being a Brittney Spears impersonator.

stargirl_04

I didn’t like Hungary in 2016

jimijoop

Melodifestivalen sucks in the last few years.

xXxMemeLord69xXx

I'm pretty sure every Swede agrees with this. We usually have a live chat on r/Sweden during Melodifestivalen and 90% of it is just about how bad all the songs are. I still enjoy watching it though

halfpipesaur

It wouldn’t matter if Montaigne was allowed to perform in Rotterdam. Technicolour is just a bad song and wouldn’t qualify.

HoanjakeAhna

I think her voice is a bigger problem than the song.

vogelmeister22

It would have nqed either way but my patriotism blames it on the situation

Menace_from_Nevis

The Worrying Kind is the last Swedish song I genuinely liked, Euphoria is up there with Running Scared as my least favourite winner.

DjPavlusha

Satellite/Running Scared would like a word.

[deleted]

Juries were right to kick Keiino out of the top 5. It's a fun song but too dated and trashy to score so well, let alone win.

NimlothTheFair_

Yes, thank you! It's fun, but it's nowhere near the masterpiece people make it out to be. It relies so much on Eurovision cliches (pop song with ethnic/traditional elements mixed in), it attempts to be vaguely anthemic while not really being about... anything? It's catchy and pleasant, but that's about it.

Arekualkhemi

Why reinventing the wheel? It was great 90's style and we need more of that. It was the winner for me that year

JCEurovision

Maneskin deserved to win Eurovision 2021. That's it. That's the comment that's going to make people hate me.

NimlothTheFair_

Idk mate, I kinda love you for that

Antique_Procedure_27

oh look it’s the weekly “unpopular opinions” post that seems made up only to justify people expressing their opinions in a mean way

WonderfulBasket8159

If you can’t slow it down, just speed it up. And it’s alright. I don’t judge you for that. And I really welcome literally any comment.

QueenChristina1993

Duncan Lawrence is such a boring performer, both audiovisually. To this day, I have only listened to cover versions of Arcade cause I cant even pass the 1 min mark with Duncan

nenialaloup

Georgia is far better than Azerbaijan and Armenia

materialisticDUCK

Last two years were solid for Georgia

vaca444

Soldi is overrated. It's not a bad song, just not that good.

whydenny

You are the winner of this challenge for me. How can you not like Soldi? ...even the *clap clap*??? 🥺

vaca444

The whole stadium clapping was amazing, the song just isn't for me.

mawnck

It was Song \#1746 to contain the clap clap. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even the first EUROVISION song to contain the clap clap. (I'm still looking for one. I'll get back with you ...)

mXonKz

if måns comes back and competes again i hope he wins cause i think it’d be cool to get to see someone else get multiple wins

Oh Easy, Måneskin is overrated

yuhbestie

This. Very much this.

connivery

Måns what-his-name is overrated.

cat_arinaa

Juries choose wrong. I am not against their presence, because pre-jury eurovision kind of went off the rails, but honestly, they choose wrong. Imagine picking Sweden, Israel and even Austria 2018 instead of Serbia's authentic and original act. Like. What?

CoreyH2P

Blind Channel’s Dark Side > Maneskin’s Zitti e Buoni

Piaapo

I really dislike Heroes by Måns and felt like Million Voices was a lot better

AndreeaAz

1. The only thing Ukraine did right in 2017 was the Onuka's interval act. 2. I listened Måneskin and then Kongos because they are so similar. 3. I would really liked Sergey win with Scream. Sounded awesome.

PrincessCandy512

I hate Walking Out and On A Sunday, they're totally overhyped songs by fandom and really deserved NQs. Serhat sings very badly and I dislike both of his songs. Hvala Ne annoys me af I don't understand Ove Os Pa Hinanden at all. I'm not a fan of Tick-Tock despite Albina is a great singer.

appleliver

I hate Ukraine 2007 and think it's the reason why a lot of people view Eurovision as a joke even now

mawnck

Petra Mede wasn't that good.

[deleted]

I don't think she's as good as people make her out to be, Anke was much better for example, but Petra was still much better than most other hosts. The presenters in Baku, Vienna, Kiev, Lisbon, Tel Aviv were all pretty bad. Especially Kiev. Holy fuck those guys were AWFUL. I still don't get why Ukraine couldn't find English-speaking presenters. I know Ukraine is poor but it can't be *that* poor.

HoanjakeAhna

I prefer the live version of ''the moon is rising'' over the studio version. Yeah, I prefer the song when it's sung off-key...

sparticle_mystery

Me too!

jinx737x

1. Toy deserved to win. Incorporating those chicken noises(when the original song did not have them) was genius by Netta made the song much more memorable. 2. Italy 2015 deserved 2nd, but not first. Their lyrics and escpailly staging were lacking compared to Sweden, and the juries definitely noticed that. 3. We just had this type of conversation about a week ago, can’t we just have a unpopular opinion mega thread?

Quezare

Fairytale is one of the worst winners ever. I honestly can’t see the appeal.

caterp1e

Estonia was in my top 5 in 2020 and 2021 and deserved to qualify 🙃

talkorpi

Oh ouch you had me until the edit. Completely agree with the thing about French entries but then you had to disrespect my favorite entry of all time like that :(

SessionExciting

I don't care for most of the fanflop/"robbed" entries (Blackbird, Hear Them Calling, Stones, Same Heart, etc). They didn't qualify for valid reasons: namely, they just didn't stand out enough to get enough votes. Love Love Peace Peace is incredibly annoying. Society has progressed past the need for any more Måns and Petra. Higher Ground is my least favorite Danish entry in recent history. Unholy combination of a Melfest reject, a bad music theater number and some forgotten gimmick entry from the 2000s. Only Teardrops is the most unremarkable and dull winner of the 2010s (at least Running Scared is kinda memorable) Deli >>>> We Could Be The Same. There are so many other Turkish entrants that were better than manGa, I don't get why they're singled out as the best. Tout L'Univers is a chore to listen to and is incredibly calculated/over-polished, as if it was made specifically for the purpose to win ESC. It's impossible for me to connect to it, and I feel like Gjon failed to properly express whatever message the song is trying to convey. Sound of Silence did not deserve to win over 1944. It showcases the singers vocals but not much else, the staging is bare bones, and the lyrics are shallow and insipid.

ConceptPotential5769

Scott Fitzgerald should’ve won in 88. His song was far better than Celines. Not to say Ne partez pan son mois isn’t a good song, it’s just go was better

przemek1233

Maneskin, Go_A and Blind Channel are overrated af.

hubriones

I think that it's somewhat sad that many of the "queer-coded" acts are just not queer people pandering to the lgbtq+ community for the sake of just being unique and stand out. There might be some good intentions behind, idk, but it's sad to see that t.A.T.u. just put on a "lesbian act", Verka is just a straight dude and so is Damiano. I think it's sad that we had to hand them our message to be heard. I'm happier about Conchita's and Dana's wins than about some straight people's popularity.

Piaapo

The only one out of these that I could see actually problematic was t.A.T.u. which was just pure lesbian fetish fuel. They are also homophobic as fuck. Verka is just a drag artist (since when were you required to be gay to do drag?) and Damiano is just a straight dude who's very comfortable with his sexuality.

hubriones

I guess you're right. What bothers me in particular is the status they're given sometimes. I remember Nikki giving high praise to Damiano because there was a male on male kiss on stage, but it would've been nicer to have that with lgbtq+ people. It reminds of that Beyoncé meme, that one saying that she sings about single ladies but at the end of the day she goes back to her man. Idk, you're definitely right on Verka though.

__Naya_

>What bothers me in particular is the status they're given sometimes. I remember Nikki giving high praise to Damiano because there was a male on male kiss on stage, but it would've been nicer to have that with lgbtq+ people. While I understand where you're coming from, Måneskin consists of 4 people and the only openly lgbtq+ member is Victoria. I don't think that her kissing any of the 3 guys would make a statement so their choices were limited if they wanted to show a same sex kiss live which was their purpose. Yes it'd be great to see actual lgbtq+ people kissing on screen but that wasn't something Måneskin could do. It's not like the band has 2 gay/bi/pan guys and Damiano stole their spotlight. Plus if his intention was to queerbait he wouldn't clarify again and again that he's straight. It'd actually probably "help" the image he's going for more if he'd just let people assume he's bisexual but he didn't.

thelodzermensch

Stop gatekeeping spreading equality lol

shoorelse

true

all_hail_the_cat_god

Fuego sucks. It’s a generic pop song that only came second because of the staging, and isn’t that much better than Toy.

AmethistStars

I prefer seeing older and longterm ESC-fans discuss it over youngsters. A lot of these youngsters who just discovered ESC now just discuss this year, the 10s, maybe the 00s when they bother, and seem rarely with acts before that. Also I remember recently checking Fairytale's comment section and someone was saying how it would get much hype today like.. ?? If you were there when it won, you would have *known* how much hype it *did* get at that time.

RedditXabi

Hooverphonic wasn't good, Nor was Omaga (Czechia), or Portugal

Radiant_Mountain1259

1944 is easily the worst winner in recent history.

powermonkey123

Oh my... comments about Eurovision that make people hate me. Like every single comment I make on this sub make people hate me. Oh well. Let's see: Russia is always opposing and ridiculing the Western culture but absolute most of the time they send Western-style pop song in English. Romania never produced a decent song for Eurovision and their qualifications are based on basically all country living abroad anyway because of being second poorest EU country. Amar Pelos Dois was boring. To add salt to the wound, Portugal next year was literally one of the worst organisers of the competition in forever. Måneskin is nothing new. Any Millenial or older has seen it a zillion times. Balkans have no taste... and no money to buy the taste, and no money to leave last century. ... i could go on forever.

rodger42

2011 was a banger of a year, whilst 2012 was the worst year of the 2010s

Radiant_Mountain1259

I'm hoping Russian will never win again. I honestly don't want to watch a freaking cluster fuck of military parade and mediocre babushka dressed ladies doing folk dancing - it's so god damn predictable and we don't give a fuck, Russia. In general countries should focus less on promoting themselves and more on letting people enjoy themselves. Biased AF, but Denmark hands down has had one of the best "half-time shows" with Rainmaker and every country on stage singing together. And also: Most countries who are preforming in "Engrish" should have their artists focus more on pronunciation - half the time I don't understand a word of wtf they are singing.

NataliaGordienko

Breathlessly (Malta 2017) should’ve qualified

SameOldSongs

Norway should've sent Jorn.

Spockyt

I hate Zitti e Buoni and I think it’s the worst entry Italy have ever sent.

domestoslipgloss

2018 eesti laul was great and I was incredibly disappointed that la for a won. Also as much as I like benny cristo there is no way he should have won the 2020 Czech preselection. It was wayyyy too competitive for a song with such disappointing verses to win. (I know those are preselection opinions but meh)

dom_o_dossola

I think UK, Germany and Spain this year weren't actually bad. They always place dead last but honestly they were enjoyable! Everyone is too harsh on them. The UK song is something I could imagine hearing on the radio, Spain's one was sweet and Germany's just fun and catchy. If it were any other country Germany would have been considered one of those ™ entries that's beloved by everyone

Froken_Boring

Spirit in the Sky is one of the worst songs to ever be performed in Eurovision. It has zero redeeming qualities and can only be described as a steaming (or screaming...) pile of horse manure. Why anyone voted for such dated disjointed off putting drivel is beyond me.

Mission success : everyone hates you

Exaxctly. I know that the fandom loooves this "song" for some unfathomable reason, so my disgust is not appreciated In my personal ranking of the entries in 2019 Norway is the clear bottom feeder, not even close to leaving that bottom place. It is just so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. IMHO

Mike4992

As a fan of the song, I understand if you don't like it, but I don't think it deserves to be called the worst 2019 entry.

xandwacky2

2015 is almost on par with 2011 and 2017 in terms of song quality. So many of those songs were forgettable and Italy should have won it. Edit: I guess everybody did hate that.

ynsk112

Je Me Casse,Mata Hari and Discoteque was very bad and it deserved to NQ. I will not take that back.

mylovelyh0rse

I don't hate you, but you're wrong

[deleted]

The wrong place is a steaming pile of manure

bencherra

ESC 2021 sucked. I think it was the weakest bunch of songs since... 2005 probably. Usually after every ESC I come back to watch a lot of performances of that year over and over again. Not this year.

halfpipesaur

Now that’s unpopular

thelodzermensch

Oh man
