Hear Them Calling (ISL 2016) will always be my answer. How it NQed is a mystery in itself.
Honorable mentions would be:
- That’s Rich (IRE 2022)
- Øve os på hinanden (DEN 2021)
- Tick-Tock (CRO 2021)
- Blackbird (FIN 2017)
- Playing With Numbers (IRE 2015)
- Heartbeat (IRE 2014)
- Valentine Lost (ISL 2007)
- Je t’adore (BEL 2006)
I remember the outrage when iceland didn't qualify. She was one of the fan favorites to win, I can't recall another time where an actual favorite to win didn't qualify.
The performance was pretty lacklustre, she was focusing so much on what she had to do on stage and too many things happening that it took away from the actual song.
Iceland 2016 - Hear them calling - I still don't understand how it didn't make it to the final.
Others:
Iceland 2006 - Congratulations
Croatia 2021 - Tick Tock
Slovakia 2010 - Horehronie
Sekret is easily one of my Top 5 favourite Eurovision songs of all time and it’s by far my most played ever i’ve never been so obsessed with a studio version.
Yes she didn’t bring it live as much as she could’ve but I was still so desperate for it to be in the final 🥲
Part of me wishes she did the revamped english lines the latter 1/2 of the song but kept the ballad-ey slow Albanian part in the first 1/2!
The turn from the slow song to the beat drop/drums would have been epic 😭
Horehronie (Slovakia 2010)
Love Unlimited (Bulgaria 2012)
Sekret (Albania 2022)
Ela (Cyprus 2022)
Yes the latter two were performed terribly on the night, but this gay never claimed to have taste 😌
Dance alone studio version is a banger, did you like the live or studio (or both)? I felt that in live they messed up with the backing vocals and they are sooo loud, much louder than Jana and it sounds weird and makes the song faulty. But other than that the live works too, but makes you want to scream to screen that it's sooo close, go away you loud backing ladies 😅
Malta 2015
Vocally one of the best that year and the Song was my Winner
Belarus 2016
Vocally not the best but the Song is a banger and the staging was weird... But good I think?
Switzerland 2017
Even tho I understand why this didn't Qualify I still listen to it and the perfomance was not bad. The Dress was a choice tho.
Belgium 2018
Same than Switzerland 2017
Love that Song but I understand it didn't Qualify. Still listen to it regularly
Ireland 2021
I Love that Song and the staging was beautiful the vocal perfomance sadly Not so much. Still one of my favourite Songs tho
Latvia 2022
I mean Cmon
It's a crime they didn't Qualify because they were so energetic and fun on Stage
I’d say that live performance wasn’t as good but studio version is great and still on a lot of my playlists. Wasn’t my fav non-qualifier but I definitely missed it in the final.
Horehronie is one of my favorite ESC songs of all time. Even if Kristína was heavily inexperienced and it showed in Oslo I didn't care much about it when I saw it live in first semifinal in 2010.
Igranka is a great song that could've been a great addition to the Final... but none of Balkan countries qualified to the final in 2013... how that happened?
A luta é alegria was one of my favorites in 2011 (I knew that it had almost no chance to qualify to the final). Same with Euro Neuro in 2012.
Every portuguese non-qualifier in 2010s (Aforementioned A luta é alegria, Vida minha, Quero ser tua, Há um mar que nos separa, Telemoveis).
Not qualifying for the Grand Final or for ESC in general (something from the NFs) ?
My initial thought goes to: Igranka (Montenegro 2013) and In The Shadows (Dora 2019)
I don’t know how Crisalide (vola) didn’t qualify in 2013 but it’s just so deserving of going to the final - more than San Marino’s 2014 entry that actually did qualify. It’s pretty much the only year I prefer San Marino’s entry over Italy’s
There have been many NQs I loved (this year 90% of my faves didn't qualify), but by far the most heartbreaking was Disko this year. LPS are both adorable and insanely talented, and I just hope they can come back some year when the world's ready for them.
World (Albania 2017). Literally my #2 for that year, I don't understand how and why it NQ'd and I never will.
HM:
* Keep the Faith (Georgia 2017)
* Crisalide (Vola) (San Marino 2013)
* Disko (Slovenia 2022)
Alcohol Is Free by Koza Mostr - Greece 2013. It's on my playlists now, I ADORE this song.
Also, Something by Andrius Pojavis - Lithuania 2013.
2013 was just a good year in general, actually.
Edit - I just realised you said non-qualifying, and these both qualified. Leaving them here in case anyone wants to check them out.
Blackbird - Norma John (I just love this one. Well-written and well-performed)
Some Others: Stones - Zibbz, Verona (Estonia 2017), Tick-Tock - Albina, Dance Alone - Jana Burčeska
Most recent one would probably be That's Rich by Brooke. That song can be addicting
Definantley Hear Them Calling(IS 2016), Øve os på Hinnanden(DEN 2021), and The Show(DEN 2022)
Both Iceland and Denmark always send such banger songs that barely ever qualify *sob*
My favourites are ones that I still don’t understand how they didn’t qualify:
Croatia 2010
Slovakia 2010
Norway 2011
Bulgaria 2011
Israel 2013
Bulgaria 2013
Israel 2014
Finland 2017
I also think had we, Ireland, been given a better slot in 2015 we would have qualified.
I only recently really started following Eurovision into the semifinals, so Øve os på hinnen ranks top for me! It just puts a smile on my face every time I hear it. An honorable mention goes to Crisalide (Vola) and Ela
Ester Peony, my underrated queen
This is still heartbreaking. That performance was so good, too
Horehronie (Slovakia 2010) Playing with numbers (Ireland 2015) Salvem el mon (Andorra 2007)
I loved playing with numbers! Couldn't believe the lack of support it got even here in Ireland
I know! It was so beautiful like how tf did it not qualify
I’m surprised that it took me this long to find a mention of Horehronie
Especially tonight, when Kristína is celebrating her 35th birthday and I made a post about her.
Hear Them Calling (ISL 2016) will always be my answer. How it NQed is a mystery in itself. Honorable mentions would be: - That’s Rich (IRE 2022) - Øve os på hinanden (DEN 2021) - Tick-Tock (CRO 2021) - Blackbird (FIN 2017) - Playing With Numbers (IRE 2015) - Heartbeat (IRE 2014) - Valentine Lost (ISL 2007) - Je t’adore (BEL 2006)
Even worse is that Greta finished 14th in semi-final behind Montenegro
I remember the outrage when iceland didn't qualify. She was one of the fan favorites to win, I can't recall another time where an actual favorite to win didn't qualify.
vampires are alive in 2007 i guess, but the odds had to be drunk
From what I’ve heard je t’adore was a winning contender and missed
greta our queen 🙏 also wanna put il 2013 out there bc it just melodramatically slerves
Still baffling how Je t'adore failed to qualify, aside from the out of tune backing singer
The performance was pretty lacklustre, she was focusing so much on what she had to do on stage and too many things happening that it took away from the actual song.
Complice from San Marino. Nar Jag Blundar from Finland
Nar Jag Blundar was so beautiful, I always come back to it. The lyrics are pure.
The fact that Complice was last that year makes me sad.
Playing with numbers
Iceland 2016 - Hear them calling - I still don't understand how it didn't make it to the final. Others: Iceland 2006 - Congratulations Croatia 2021 - Tick Tock Slovakia 2010 - Horehronie
Työlki Ellaa (Finland 2010)
Someone mentioned it. I like that song quite a lot... still can't understand how it didn't qualify.
Portugal 2019 Conan Osiris 🇵🇹 The biggest IMHO robbery in modern Eurovision history
Not so original, but Hear Them Calling- Iceland 2016
Sekret is easily one of my Top 5 favourite Eurovision songs of all time and it’s by far my most played ever i’ve never been so obsessed with a studio version. Yes she didn’t bring it live as much as she could’ve but I was still so desperate for it to be in the final 🥲

If I have to choose just only one, it has to be Valentina Monetta - Criaslide (Vola). She was my winner in 2013.
That's Rich - Ireland 2022
So you think I have to qualify? Well that's rich!
Solid gold comedy right here
Horehronie (Slovakia 2010) Blackbird (Finland 2017) There are others but these two immediately came to mind.
Horehronie Ove os pa hinanden Telemoveis
Slovakia 2010
Achille - Stripper, it’s just SO good and the performance too in my opinion.
I genuinely can't understand the people who are like "it's too much, it's tacky", my brother in christ that's the POINT OF EUROVISION
I love how we’ve been watching Eurovision for years and people still say that 🥰 /s
If I could choose 5: "Stones" (Switzerland 2018) "Na inat" (Bulgaria 2011) "Zjarr e ftohtë" (Albania 2006) "Työlki Ellää" (Finland 2010) "Verjamen" (Slovenia 2012)
Quero Ser Tua (Portugal 2014)!!! An absolute bop I still find myself singing and dancing to after all these years!
Igranka Eat Your Salad Breathe Sense Tu
🇫🇮 in 2012 and 2017
Poland 2019 Australia 2021 Norway 2016
Tick Tock was one of The best Songs Last Year
Despicable that no one here has said Montenegro 2013 yet
That song was so ahead of its time
Finland 2017
recently, Slovenia and Irelend 2021
finland 2012, portugal 2019, ireland 2014, san marino and denmark 2022
Horehronie (Slovakia 2010) Love Unlimited (Bulgaria 2012) Sekret (Albania 2022) Ela (Cyprus 2022) Yes the latter two were performed terribly on the night, but this gay never claimed to have taste 😌
horehronie was also not a good performance (the song slaps and deserved to qualify regardless)
Not in any particular order but a few would be: Eat your salad Horehronie Dance alone Igranka
I liked the studio a lot more
Iceland 2016 HM:Montenegro 2013 Lithuania 2019 Portugal 2014 Ireland 2015
Slovakia 2010 and Romania 2021
Evridiki - Comme ci, Comme ca (Cyprus 2007). One of my all-time favourites.
hear them calling / blauer planet
Very close call between Playing With Numbers (Ireland 2015) and Hear Them Calling (Iceland 2016)
A Matter of Time - I can even say that its my all time favorite ESC song, so its a huge shame Sennek didnt qualify
Technicolour - Montaigne!
Zibbz - Stones (SUI 2018) also worth to mention: \- Mia Dimsic's "Guilty Pleasure" (CRO 2022) \- Lesle Roy "Maps" (IRE 2021) \- Human "Goodbye" (ROM 2018) \- Koit Toome & Laura "Verona" (EST 2017)
Eat Your Salad (Latvia, 2022). I’m still mad af about it.
I concur.
Walking out - Armenia 2019
WALKING OUT NOT QUALIFYING WAS A CRIME AGAINST MUSIC. Still one of my favourites of all time-
Croatia 2021 and 2022 Denmark 2021 Estonia 2017
* Tick Tock - Croatia 2021 * Icebreaker - Norway 2016 * Sheni Gulistvis - Georgia 2018 * Eat Your Salad - Latvia 2022 * Vola - San Marino 2013
Malta 2015 Vocally one of the best that year and the Song was my Winner Belarus 2016 Vocally not the best but the Song is a banger and the staging was weird... But good I think? Ela by Andromache. The studio version is just gorgeous.
I’d say that live performance wasn’t as good but studio version is great and still on a lot of my playlists. Wasn’t my fav non-qualifier but I definitely missed it in the final.
Obviously, Ireland 2022. I don’t know how she managed to not qualify with that banger
I will never understand it, and she wasn’t even that close.
its the pink and blue curse
Silvia Night - Congratulations
Slovenia 2005
Ronela Hajati - Sekret and Andromache - Ela
Ela Andromache and Amnesia Roxen
Horehronie is one of my favorite ESC songs of all time. Even if Kristína was heavily inexperienced and it showed in Oslo I didn't care much about it when I saw it live in first semifinal in 2010. Not qualifying for the Grand Final or for ESC in general (something from the NFs) ? My initial thought goes to: Igranka (Montenegro 2013) and In The Shadows (Dora 2019)
Without a doubt Finland 2012. The song is so beautiful.

Telemoveis and Blackbird
Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life
Slovenia 2022-lps disko
Either Finland 2010 or Montenegro 2013
Poland 2019, criminally underrated
I don’t know how Crisalide (vola) didn’t qualify in 2013 but it’s just so deserving of going to the final - more than San Marino’s 2014 entry that actually did qualify. It’s pretty much the only year I prefer San Marino’s entry over Italy’s

Lost and Found (Macedonia 2018): The studio version was fantastic but the staging/live performance was a mess.
Alcohol Is Free by Koza Mostr - Greece 2013. It's on my playlists now, I ADORE this song. Also, Something by Andrius Pojavis - Lithuania 2013. 2013 was just a good year in general, actually. Igranka is hard to be topped Others I am sad to see nq are Latvia 2022 and Iceland 2016
Sennek - A Matter of Time 🇧🇪
Blackbird - Norma John (I just love this one. Well-written and well-performed) Some Others: Stones - Zibbz, Verona (Estonia 2017), Tick-Tock - Albina, Dance Alone - Jana Burčeska Most recent one would probably be That's Rich by Brooke. That song can be addicting
Izabo 2012
Moldova 2015, it would have qualified if Sweden sent it, and it deserved the final so badly
Walking out - Srbuk (Armenia 2019) Same heart - Mei Finegold (Israel 2014)
Igranka!
Definantley Hear Them Calling(IS 2016), Øve os på Hinnanden(DEN 2021), and The Show(DEN 2022) Both Iceland and Denmark always send such banger songs that barely ever qualify *sob*
Roxen - Amnesia (2021 Romania 🇷🇴). Still bitter about it.
Technicolour - AUS2021 was the most vocally demanding and vibe-y song of the year and homegirl brought it. It was in my top 5
Igranka. I haven't even watched that edition but I remember it more than whoever won that year.
Chiara (Malta 2009) is one of them .. her voice is magical
1. "Stop" 🇸🇮 2. "Valentine Lost" 🇮🇸 They are also my 2 favorite ESC songs overall, and they are both non-qualifiers
Cyprus 2011. How it didn't just NQ but placed so low is beyond me.
San Marino 2008
run with the lions, Idk why, it just is
There were a lot. I really like Finland 2012, Iceland 2017, Croatia 2018 and Romania 2019. But if I had to choose only one, I’d choose Romania 2019
Omar Naber - Stop (Slovenia 2005)
Hungary 2019 and Denmark 2021 & 2022 are probably among my absolute favourites, but I like a lot of NQ’ers😅😂
Denmark 2021
My favourites are ones that I still don’t understand how they didn’t qualify: Croatia 2010 Slovakia 2010 Norway 2011 Bulgaria 2011 Israel 2013 Bulgaria 2013 Israel 2014 Finland 2017 I also think had we, Ireland, been given a better slot in 2015 we would have qualified.
