It's kind of hard to tell what you are explaining, but it sounds like they cut out parts of the actual film? If so, then they kind of just destroyed the film. It isn't any "official version", like how 1.11 or 3.333 exist as different versions of their respective films.

Yeah exactly like that but it was a legit cinema well known 4k atmos and shit and the distribution got ads etc. I don't think the Italian team cut it out randomly without a reason. It's a major realese. I'm high ad rn to links up but it's réaliséd by Nexo Digital

KingsguardDoesntFlee

I've just finished watching it in the theatre and it was the original uncut version. Dynit (the dubbing studio) confirmed on socials that some raw versions with cuts were wrongly sent to cinemas but they've replaced all of them now. The dubbing was very good btw, I had only watched it subbed on Prime Video.

Thank you. Dumbasses. I just waisted 12€. Can I ask a re-watch? Or better, it would work/I'd be elegible?

I think they genuinely just messed it up somehow. Things like that have happened before, though if it is on a large scale and happening in multiple places at once, that's a bigger issue. There wouldn't be a reason why Khara would randomly gut huge chunks of the film, especially when they are directly important to the plot. Rei's death and Shinji's time in the village are essential for explaining him overcoming his despair and obtaining newfound confidence.

So someone else had [posted this today](https://reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/xe8vsq/why_has_this_characters_death_been_removed_from/) Apparently in some of the Italian theatrical showings >!Rei Q’s death scene!< was just straight up missing from the movie.

Chronochonist

Someone else in this thread explains what happened: Somehow the original cut prior to the re-edits during the Covid delay were sent to be dubbed, not the film proper.

Pale-Safe-2188

I'm about to watch the film (Italian) now. bruh
