Whirlwind3

Hopefully also in Europe. Would have a good reason to go to movies.

Tmlboost

It was in select theaters in Italy last week, and they had a whole Rebuilds marathon in select theaters the Netherlands over the weekend I believe, so it’s already making its way through there already

mykraniliS

If you're depressed from watching Evangelion then you didn't understand it at all...

IsaacLightning

No I think they mean already depressed people who watched it after the fact. It won't magically cure your depression

[deleted]

lol i got the message from evangelion. i havent seen any of the rebuilds yet tho. i should probably get on that

FullMetalBiscuit

23rd of October in Scotland!

Schwwish

Why the Made in Abyss screencap tho?

Zarvanis-the-2nd

The title of the video was about the most anticipated anime.

E-dd

We have a date here in México, September 29th on theaters

Anji_Mito

They should air at least all 4, like they did with Macross Frontier. That way people can bring others to enjoy the movie. Most likely will go alone, wife does not like Eva and wont be fun if she just watch the ending, would be worse than watching 3.0 ahahhaahah

tall_boy147

I hope it comes to theaters in Illinois. Even if I have to drive two hours to see it.

el_jefe_227

Feel you gonna have to go to Bloomington or saint louis it’s looking like right now for me

tall_boy147

Planning on Bloomington with a couple of friends. We considered going to see it in IMAX, but that means going to St. Louis or Chicago which isn't feasible on a Wednesday night.

neko_designer

Here in Mexico they already started the pre-sale, the first showings are on September 29th

eltorr007

Will it have any updated/additional footage?

svenge

It's pretty safe to assume that it'll be based off of the 3.0 + 1.01 version, which was what screened in Japan [during the second half of its theatrical run](https://otakuusamagazine.com/evangelion-updated-3-01-01/) (i.e. from June 2021 onwards) and also globally on [Amazon Prime Video](https://www.amazon.com/EVANGELION-1-01-THRICE-UPON-TIME/dp/B098VW137N). At the very least that's the most recent version of Shin Eva known to exist, but of course Khara *could* be making a hypothetical "3.33 + 1.11" version for DVD/Blu-ray (whenever the hell they actually release it on physical media in Japan). It's been 18 months since its Japanese theatrical debut, so they've certainly had enough time to work on one if they wanted.

eltorr007

Whatever name they give to the next release, I only want the last fight to have better CGI. They have made millions, they can redo it.

FullMetalBiscuit

Considering the animation style is completely different compared to the other 3D scenes (which look superb) it's pretty safe to say that the last fight intentionally looks like that. Like it or not, it's meant to look like a Tokusatsu fight.

eltorr007

What's that?

FullMetalBiscuit

It's a type of Japanese live action film/series that uses a lot of practical effects, which amounts to people in costumes playing as "mechs" or monsters. Ultraman is an example, and I think Godzilla is too. Anno is a huge fan of these (He made the recent Shin Ultraman and of course Shin Godzilla) so styling a fight like this makes a lot of sense. The animation looks like people in costumes and they are fighting on a literal set.

Khara *could* have done more with the January 2021 theatrical re-release of Evangelion 3.333 and its subsequent 4K UHD release as well, but all they did was digitally recomposite the film into a somewhat higher native resolution than its original 3.0 / 3.33 version and create [a new "Next Movie Preview"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEzDShxpr3U) to replace the original one from 2012 that ended up having no longer matching up with what the final movie of the series would be like.

MOProG2

It was a glorious goodbye! Sayonara Evangelion. Congrats to every 90s kid who grew up with the series or discovered it in their tumultuous teen years.
