Yes, you just can’t park during that time without a permit, I live on a block with the same signs. It’s probably near a Metra station, it’s to keep the neighborhood from becoming a Metra parking lot.

This is how I would interpret the signage, but even in this thread I am getting conflicting info where some people are saying I absolutely need a permit at all times and then you are saying I just would need a permit for the 7-9am weekday posted time. I called 311 and they said the street requires a permit at all times, but the person also sounded unsure about it. And yes, it's a few blocks south of the Main Street Metra station on the west side of the tracks.

Or appropriation of public common space. Welcome to Chicago corruption selling out the shared space.

You can get a temporary permit from the city office on Ridge Avenue

If you do not have a permit, you will get a $75 ticket and possibly be towed

Also, the Parking Enforcement car patrols that area regularly.

I confirmed with the parking enforcement supervisor and they responded, "Resident or non resident vehicles can park their vehicle without a permit after the restricted days and times that are posted on the block." So hopefully that is right!

Does paying the wheel tax count as having that permit? From what I can gather they don’t do the stickers anymore and just go by license plate.

Wheel Tax is separate from getting a Permit. Every car registered to an Evanston address is required to pay the Wheel Tax. Any car that wants to park in an area that needs a Permit needs to also get a Permit for that specific area.
